Tiny room, great for an overnight stay nothing longer.

No hassel due to not much but bed and shower. No heat and wall to wall bed 1st bed not sleepable. Second bed more of a couch.

Nice location and decent price but understand that this is a room with a bed and a small bathroom. If you're looking to do anything other than sleep here, then you better look elsewhere.

Terrible dirty place!

We are both shocked and appalled at the situation at Pavilion Motel. We travel extensively and we have never seen anything like this. Inexpensive should not mean revolting...The first night we purchased bleach wipes and sanitizing spray. My sister and i shared the one bed because the other looked horrible and she could not bring herself to sleep in […] it. We cleaned up the place as best we could but we slept on top of the sheets and purchased a blanket to sleep on top off. We decided to wash the bedding and try to get to another level of comfort. And thats when my sister woke in the middle of the night to blood on her shirt and pillow from killing a large BED BUG! WE packed, as we did, we noticed bugs bites on both of us and that the bugs were everywhere and left! Now, when we called the hotel manager, he actually tried to blame us, denying that he ever had them, when in fact these reviews indicate that this has been a problem since 2010! After threatening him with contacting media, legal assistance and other officials, he agreed to a partial reimbursement. So basically, he knows his place is nasty and he lies about it. i wish i read these reviews first because now we will spend the rest of our vacation dealing with sanitizing our stuff to make sure we don't spread the bed bugs everywhere. YUCK! In our hearts we felt compelled to share this because you don't have to have this happen to you and this is not the way to spend a vacation. Devamı

I had read the negative views & still booked, since it was cheap & near where I needed to be the next day. The place was functional, the wifi worked fine, the water pressure in the shower was good, but I was also happy to only be spending one night there. The room was really small & cramped. There was a sign in the bathroom about not flushing pads etc […] down the toilet--which would be fine, if it didn't also say not to flush toilet paper down... I wouldn't want to go back. Devamı

worst place ever stay qualité price very bad very dirt place....

i made reservations at this motel and when i went to get my room the night desk person was rude, and refused to release the key to me. then we would not refund my money. i will never stay here again. i would rather pay twice the price and know that i have a room then to hope the night person is having a panic attack.

Cheap bare minimum motel in an expensive district, and is surrounded by a nice neighborhood. The owner is very nice and friendly. The motel is certainly in need of upkeep and manitenence, but the bed is clean and comfortable. We questioned the appearance when we pulled into the worn out parking lot, but it was comfortable and certainly a lot drier than […] a tent on a rainy day! Devamı

I booked this motel room at 9PM, at the last minute. Walked into room, to first view a bug running around on the floor. When I closed the front door, or what there was of it, I noticed a huge hole in the back of the door that had been nailed over. The vanity cabinet door was hanging on by one hinge. I read this before I booked the room and will agree, you do get what you pay for. The room consisted of a bed, a shower, a toilet, a dresser, and aTV (cable included). The room was small, but I didn't book a room a mile and a half from the beach to bum around in a hotel room all day. The place gave us a place to sleep and shower and really that was […] all we needed. I went prepared with a cooler to keep food in and a coffee maker, since the rooms are not equipped with any appliances. The place is in a nice, quiet neighborhood not far from the beach. It was $1 to take the bus to the beach and, if I wanted to drive, there was 5 hour meter parking for about 75 cents an hour. There are markets and restaurants within walking distance and, overall, the city is very pedestrian friendly. The owners of the motel were very helpful and offered lots of information (and directions) about the city. Overall, I was very happy and comfortable with the room and plan to book here again next summer. Devamı

Just looking at this place gave me concerns for my health and safety. Everything was old, damaged, or dirty, and the area was questionable. Never again will I stay at this place, and highly recommend people go elsewhere. If you're trying to save a little money, you'd still be better off spending a little more to go to another place.

First time visiting the LA area and a friend of mine told me to book a room near Santa Monica. After looking online for the cheapest place, I found and decided on this one. I was a little weary of it because people made it seem run down and scary, especially since it's not a hotel. When we checked in, the owner/man at the front desk was just as nice […] as every says he is. Such a cute, sincere old man. Shows interest to know the people staying in his motel. The room has a bedroom feel to it more than it did a hotel room. The furniture is not all the same in everyroom so it gave it a unique feeling. The bed was clean and comfortable enough, large windows with shades and very large closet space. The bathroom was a little small and clearly the most outdated part of the room but it was clean. My friend from Santa Monica was unsure of the place when she dropped me off to check in. But when checking out, she took a peak in the room and was fairly impressed and thought it was a cute, different, clean, motel room, just as I did. The location is very close to the beach, the staff is very friendly and the room, although outdated, it safe and clean. I would recommed to friends and anyone that needs a good cheap place and doesn't care about aethetics. Devamı

it's only what you need, nothing more - a room, a shower, an air conditioner (which is actually hard to find in santa monica). the owner is very nice. the place is a bit old and run down, but if you're only looking for a clean and comfy place to crash and shower, then this place is perfect and it's a great price. i'll stay there again.

This motel was so run-down that I took pictures and video to show off to my friends afterward. My standards aren't high, but I must say that I was in awe of the lack of refinement: the door had to be slammed to be closed and its paint was badly peeling, there was no refrigerator, and every piece of furniture looked like it was purchased at a second-hand […] store. As an example of the shabbiness, there was a chunk missing from the (desk?) and a handwritten no-smoking sign posted-up from the management. The room was incredibly small and would not be sufficient, in my opinion, for more than one traveler (although the bed was a Queen, so if you just slept and left, it'd do for two). The bed, while sufficiently comfortable and (at list visually) clean, obviously had wheels on it and had sort of the look of a cot, adding to the overall ambiance of my title. Here are the upsides: while the management "office" (room) was as low class as everything else, at least the attendant was tolerable, if mildly awkward. Also, wireless internet was complimentary, although I didn't use it so I can't speak to the speed or reliability. All-in-all, I wouldn't recommend this motel to anyone. Saying that, I went to LA for a concert and was looking forward to the accompanying adventure. Considering this motel as a part of the adventure, I'm totally satisfied by my choice. And for anyone who's going with the cheapest price they can get in a target area, you'll probably take this motel whether the reviews are positive or not: you just need a place to stay for a night, after all. This place hasn't been remodeled in 40 years. It resembles an hourly brothel somewhere in Guatemala rather than a nice clean motels I've been used to. Door lock doesn't work. Blanket looks like it's 25 yrs old. Furniture is terrible. Door has knife holes in it. Old worn red pillow covers with stars resemble a cheap brothel in a third world country. […] Slept with my clothes on and was terrified of bugs all night. Don't go there. For the Location, and price it was great. It is one of the older Motels (not hotels) It is a bit far from the Beach, and some shopping areas. However the shops and resturants around Ocean Park Blvd, were well worth it. And the bus takes you to the beach for a buck. The Owner was very Kind, and helpful. And made sure that we were comfortable and satisfied. […] It may not be a 5 star luxury hotel. But it was comfortable, quiet and friendly. Devamı

Not the finest hotel but it had a very warm feeling to it. The owner is super nice and the people staying there were in the same situation as us, young and on a budget. As long as you dont expect anything fancy you wont be let down!! Totally ok!

Friendly Staff, ok price, ok location We choosed this place because the price was right, but the condition of the hotel isn´t the best. Still a plus for having tile flooring

a very nice and cheap place to stay for a couple of nights. easy 15min bicycle ride to venice beach. rooms with a/c and tv.

Hi all budget conscious travelers! So I stayed in the Pavilions Motel for two nights. I'd already read all the other reviews and I was definitely prepared - mentally and physically! But I was actually very pleasantly surprised. Ok, so let's face it - it's an en suite motel room a few blocks from Santa Monica and Venice Beaches and it costs almost […] half of any other chain motel. What did you expect, the HILTON?! It doesn't have the refinements or the convenience of the other chain motels - yes rooms are small, the window sills are dusty, and the bathroom furniture and TV set could do with a revamp. BUT the rooms are clean (no bed bugs in mine - I looked), the aircon works, the TV works, there's a hot shower with good water pressure, toilet paper, towels, etc. There's a convenience store across the street, a huge supermarket at the end of the road, and the beach a few blocks away. What else do you need?? Yes, there's a central courtyard in which some of the other residents sometimes congregate to chat and smoke cigarettes, but they were friendly, the smoke doesn't get into the room and they were never there late at night or early in the morning. The old guy who runs it does NOT look like a criminal to me as one of the other reviewers stated. He's friendly, says hello when he sees you, and both mornings asked me how my night was and if there was anything he could do to help. In short, it's an older, local, independently run motel that is cheap and simple. Don't expect ice buckets, HBO and room service, and you'll be fine! I recommend it for the price. It was the cheapest and only available hotel in Santa Monica during that weekend so we had no choice. The whole place needs a makeover, new paint, beds, restrooms etc! Very small room, everything is really old and not serviced. Dingy, squeaky beds and bad neighbourhood with bad lighting and shady streets. Do Do not risk your safety to save some money.

If it's all about the money, go for it. Otherwise stay away as it the most crappy location I have seen in years

you are passing by. I know the area is VERY EXPENSIVE, and we were looking just for a cheap place to stay. But the place is really scary looking. I would never go back to a place like that. Please don't include this type of hotels in your program.

The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. The hotel is old and needs a little paint and maintenance. The rooms are small. The wireless Internet works great. The TVs have remote controls and work great. The location is great. The owner and the night time staff are very nice. It is a fun experience if you are looking for something different.

The reason I would recomend the Pavillions Motel is that we went to see Santa Monica & Venice and thats what we did. The location is great nice neighborhood also just a short drive to Hollywood. Definatley a NO frills motel! But we didnt go to stay in the room!

I flew in LA early in the morning and the owner was fine with me checking in at 9am. He gave me excellent advice on good things to sight see. He also let me check out closer to 1pm since I had some business to take care of in the morning. Room was very clean, bed comfy and motel is located only minutes from venice beach and santa monica pier in a very […] safe neighborhood. I was concerned when we first checked in late Friday night. But once I hung out for a while it became cozy. Me and husband make fun of it and laugh about it but honestly, we would stay there again :) The owner is a super nice guy and the hotel is close to Main Street and the Beach. For what it is, it's perfect. If you are looking to enjoy the beach without paying tons of money for a fancier hotel in the rich santa monica area, this motel offers a place to crash, a short cab ride away from the promenade and boardwalk. THE PICTURES ARE NO WHERE NEAR WHAT THE ACTUAL MOTEL LOOKS LIKE. THERE ARE NO TUBS, THE CONDITION OF THE PLACE IS HORRIBLE.
