Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa - Cabo San Lucas

We loved our stay even though we were there during Spring Break 2012. Watching the Sunset Dinner Cruise ships returning with a party in full swing, people dancing, and music flowing, gives Cabo a well deserved Party Town reputation. Great hotel right in the middle of all the action on the Beach! Very safe and well guarded hotel. Nice pool and great beach!

The staff was wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. I loved the location of the hotel. We could walk to all the different places to eat.

Excellent stay, changed the bar menu and is not as good as in years past but still good. Clean rooms and friendly staff.

great place would recomend it to anyone with or without kids.. 1st Class all the way .. You dont have to leave the resort for anything once you are there .. we are booking vacation there again ...

We moved to Casa Dorada after we spent a week at our timeshare at Playa Grande. We had a GREAT room at the hotel....this is perfectly located right where the action is on the beach. ONLY complaint... we could NEVER get chairs at the pools or on the beach any of the days we were there....we'd have had to have gotten up at 6am to put towels down....the […] hotel states a policy that any towels left on chairs for more than 30 minutes with nobody in the chairs will be removed....well they were NOT enforcing that...and this was the beginning of the Thanksgiving week....I can hardly imagine the chaos as the week got on and more poeple came to the hotel. We stayed in room 501,fantastic view of the lands end rocks, and the Sea of Cortez large deck with a lounge chair and a table and chairs....The Office was loud at night, but the doors in the rooms are really noise proof and neither our kids or us were kept awake.....I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Room was modern, clean, beautifully furnished.....really great!!!! ONLY room complaint....jacuzzi tub didn't work, and when they fixed it, black stuff was coming out the jets...so they need to really maintain their jacuzzi tubs and their working parts better......We were however greeted with a welcome cocktail and water for the kids. We loved our stay here. Close enough to town to walk there- but still feels far enough away if all you want to do is relax. Outstanding views- great service.Very nice junior suite. Impeccably clean. Maid turns down your bed at night & puts on the relaxation music on nightstand. Waitstaff & bartenders are friendly- had a problem with the hotel computer […] & the concierge offered me her personal computer to use. Very accomodating. Beachfront or poolside- this hotel is great. Title says it all. Been to Cabo 3-4x and location-wise this is the nicest. Would stay again for sure.

Just to let you know about our travel style, we are in our 40s with a 6 year old daughter. We are use to Hilton, Ritz Carlton, Westin,etc. When I see a "5 star" rating I expect a Ritz style hotel or resort. We arrived in Cabo and had pre-booked at the Riu Palace because it was a "5 star" listing. It wasn't. It was at best a 3 star Howard Johnson. Rooms […] bad, service bad, pool falling apart and closed at 6PM, drinks water downed and blended drinks made with mixes - not real fruit, including the orange juice, no swim beach, no internet access other then the ONE lobby which has no A/C and lots more to complain about. Primarily buffet only food, Had to take a taxi to get anywhere..... very disappointing. Obviously we were very unhappy at the Riu Palace so we looked for a new resort to transfer too. We choose the Casa Dorada and were thrilled with this hotel! The rooms are large with at least a kitchenette, all travertine and modern dark wood and flat screen TVs. The resort is pretty small so no golf carts needed to get to anything internally. Most rooms have a wonderful view of the Arch, Marina and Ocean. Walk right out of your room past the pools and you are sitting in a cabana on a SWIM beach (most resorts in Cabo are not swimable). On that same beach are fun restaurants, bars, banana boats, para sailing, jet skis and more. And for those of you who like to shop, the Mexican version of the HSN Live Network is at your leisure (their are vendors all over the beach). Walk out the front of the hotel and you are right in the heart of downtown and 2 walking blocks to the Marina and luxury shopping. There is also a very nice Spa & Gym on site. Poolside and Beachside restaurant service at reasonable prices just make this even better. The blended drinks are made with real fruit - no mixes at the Casa Dorada! Great hotel, great location. Rooms are like something out of Architectural Digest. Pools fantastic. Only problem might be the beach which is crammed with vendors jet skis, etc. Also, avoid room on the far right side of the hotel --as they over look a couple of noisy bars (Mango's). Otherwise, great place.

Overall a great resort. There is a timeshare presentation that they want to give you upon check-in so you need to be aware of this. Additionally, when booking excursions and events through the concierge (they are a separate company, not part of the hotel) they DO NOT accept American Express as a form of payment and are very aggressive in trying to have […] you pay with cash instead of a credit card. The hotel was in nice shape but we had a problem with the bathrooms (2 out of 3) smelled like sewage. Casa Doradas way of "fixing" it was to spray air freshiner. The smell was so bad that we had to leave the doors closed. Also there was no lock on patio door. It took 2 days to add one. Pool was very nice but the service was terrible. I have been coming to Cabo for over 10 years and for the last few years I stayed in many of the Medano Beach area hotels and some of the Sunset Beach hotels. Casa Dorada is beautiful and I will be staying there again. Our suite was huge and very modern. We could walk everywhere. I have already told others about it.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful resort, great views, specular service, great experience! Must stay here!

We got a great rate on the room and were treated like kings. I know there are a lot of time shares in the hotel but I hope they maintain some hotel availabilities as I would go back in a heartbeat. From a few previous reviews we were a little worried about the timeshare angle of this hotel however when we arrived we were checked in and in our room in minutes and even upgraded to a larger room than booked. Hotel staff was great, rooms were clean and the property was amazing. The pool staff was great as well and pool bar was very reasonably priced […] with happy hours throughout the day. The location could not be better with a short 5 minute walk into town and the marina we were right in the heart of everything with the best view in Cabo. The only thing that we can point to that we didn’t like was their area on the beach was not private enough and you could not get away from the vendors even though the area is roped off. If you want a little quiet time on the beach then think elsewhere but other than that minor detail this place was great and we are already planning our next trip to Cabo and will stay here again. The location is terrific, right on the best beach and a 10 minute walk to town. Spacious suites with big balconies, lovely pool, good service. The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning in the workout room/spa.

Was told the room wasn't ready when checking in so that a salesman could pitch attending a timeshare sales meeting the next morning. Hotel is very nice though and service was good.

Beautiful hotel with a great location. The front desk is lacking in service - no american currency or newspapers. Congierge did not accurately get us a reservation. Hotel is clean and the pool staff is awesome.

First... The hotel is a wonderful hotel. Clean, beautiful, great location, great rooms. The lobby service staff however was horrible. Day after day we had issues with one or more of them. I am not a newby at this. I frequent Cabo every six months and have stayed in Cabo at various places over the last 10 years. I also currently own 2 weeks at another […] 5 Star resort (Playa Grande) for the past 9 years and was considering buying another week at Casa Dorada, but am now reconsidering. There are plenty of other wonderful hotels in the area that treat their guests with the respect we deserve given the money we spend in this wonderful city. We left Playa Grande after over a week in Cabo and moved into Casa Dorada as my adult kids (in their twenties) came down for a long weekend and we wanted to be near the action to keep them entertained. As they were leaving the hotel to go home on their last day we were sayiingn our goodbyes in the lobby and waited for a taxi to take them to the airport. The customer service/activities woman came over and asked me if i had a taxi ticket? I said no... my kids are going to the airport in a private taxi - not a shuttle. She then insisted I had to pay the resort for the private taxi to the airport rather than paying the driver. In addition, she wanted to charge me more than what you typically pay for a private taxi to the airport which is always $60 USD plus driver tip. I told her NO, that I am not required to pay the hotel and that I have stayed in Cabo many times at many resorts and that this was certainly not their practice. She argued with me and said it was their policy to pay the hotel and they would pay the driver. I figured the hotel is probably taking a cut of the money and underpaying the driver which just seemed wrong to me... these drivers work hard long hours to earn their money. She kept insisting - arguing with me in front of other guests - to the point where I told my kids to get out of the taxi and that we would walk do Devamı

I was worried about coming to Casa Dorada as I have quite high expectations when I vacation and hate to be disappointed. I quickly found that the few negative reviews I read where ridiculous and am quite confused as to where they where coming from. Pros of the resort: Extremely clean and well decorated. I am an interior designer and absolutely loved […] the design of the pool area and rooms. There were nice creature comforts like beautiful buttery soft linens and down comforters, music charging docks for ipod, in room internet on a flatscreen available and HUGE patio with 4 person table and two lounge chairs. The decor in the rooms was very tasteful and modern. The pool area was one of the nicest I have ever visited. Very quality landscape and materials. Fiber optics on bottom of pool was neat. 12 tribes restaurant was delicious and diverse in their offerings. I am extremely picky eater and could not decide between 5 dishes. Our waiter Hector was so kind and helpful. The pool bar area was surprisingly inexpensive and STRONG DRINKS (surprising for a pool bar) and had delicious food too. Ingrid in Concierge was excellent and helpful too. Fitness room was free to use and we worked out daily on great, new machines. I did not try the spa as prices where high...but the facilities where breathtaking. We called service for cloged toilet and safe problem and someone showed up within minutes to fix without a hitch. The beach was gorgeous. We liked the piped in music played by the pool..not to loud..not to soft...mix of different generes and artists. Also, we literally walked to and from town every single night to eat and the walk was maybe 15 minutes at most. We were so happy that we didn't need to spend on cabs. Cons of the property: 12 tribes was quite expensive and the spa treatments where high. They both did offer specials usually everyday though so you could save money. Also, there was a bar down on the beach by our hotel that was typical spring break bar...loud and rauncy.. Devamı

Spectacular

Huge rooms that are finely furnished and clean. Service was great. Food OK but great alternatives across the beach.

I went with 5 of my girlfriends for a relaxing get-away. The resort was beautiful in a fabulous location and we were only approached about timeshare information when we intially arrived but then never bothered again for the 5 days were were there. Our room was amazing (2 bedroom suite)and the staff was very friendly - everyone from the pool concierge […] to the front desk staff. The breakfast buffet was amazing and reasonably priced as was the food at the poolside restaurant! I have no complaints and would definitely recommend this hotel to others. Devamı

When my wife and I travel we have a checklist of things that we look for in our hotels. The Casa Dorado had every one of the things we look for and then some, but the one thing that we have taken for granted - great staff and staff with a service orientation - is what the Casa Dorado was missing. It got to the point where we didn't want to head to the […] beach because we knew that we were going to be hassled about going to the time share presentation. If the staff had been more focused on assisting guests as opposed to the commission from getting guests to go to the presentation, this would have been a great hotel and experience. Devamı

My girlfriend and I were ver impressed with everything at Casa Dorada. Maybe because it was the beginning of the low season, or because a lot of people cancelled due to fears of Hurricane Jimena, but we got upgraded from what we expected to be a 480 s.f. room to one that was closer to 900 s.f. All rooms seem to have great views of the ocean. The service […] was excellent in the restaurants, bars, at the pool and on the beach. The location can't be beat as it sits directly on a beautiful part of Medano beach and right next to a few small restaurants/bars. And it's only a 5-10 minute walk to the marina and town. Food in the restaurants and room service was very good and pretty affordable. And the onsite gym is the best I've ever seen at a hotel. The only downside is being harassed by people wanting you to do "time share tours". If you go into it knowing you'll be hit up and you're prepared to say no, the rest of the experience will be fabulous. Devamı

Excellent option when you travel to Cabo San Lucas specially if you will visit places as El Arco, Lovers Beach and will take aquatic tours. Taxis are VERY expensive but this hotel is located very close to a lot of restaurants and nice places to have fun at night... so you can just walk and enjoy Cabo!!!
