Don't normally stay in these types (hostel- like) accommodation. Arrived in the dark great directions keys waiting with directions to room. Walked in and thought ?... but turned out great. Fantastic home very comfy.... met wonderful people.... great location so close to the volcano. Get a car... stay here! Shared bathrooms weren't an issue- never had […] to wait and very clean and well appointed. The Volcano Hale was a great place to stay -clean and quiet and very relaxing. The Hawaiian lady at the office was delightful. We would definitely stay there again.

Guest house atmosphere typical of foreign travel. Many foreign guests made for a pleasant change and conversations. Great location near volcano park and decent local restaurants made for pleasant stay.

extremely clean and well maintained. an abundance of supplies (towels, soap, paper products, blankets, etc). excellent wi-fi. homey common area (piano, fireplace, computer, etc). a well supplied kitchen.

Quaint little room in house surrounded by rainforest. Pluses include kitchen privileges, extra blanket & pillow and humidifier & fan. Negatives: must purchase coffee and I wasn't told about afternoon tea when I checked in.

This place is amazing. Ok, you're in a rainforest area so you have all kinds of flowering plants around the building as well as lining the road to and from it. It's off the main road so no road noise and just very laid back. Awesome breakfast over looking a koi pond. Cute staff as well.

My husband and I stayed here overnight while spending time in the park, and going to see lava. The location was great for the park, we were hiking by 8:15 am, and since the park is open 24 hours a day, it's really great to be so close. The accommodations were fine--nothing fancy. Aloha guys, I stayed here for 2 nights. A heater and small TV in the room. Shared bathrooms, but i had difficulty in using one of the shower, cant seem to get the hot water.....Nice kitchen, freezer and surroundings though. Managed to boil water but didnt have time to cook. There are several nearby restaurants and grocery store with ATM, just refer […] to the map provided to you when you check in. Should bring your own GPS. Forgot mine! Hotel website is misleading. It advertises six rooms and I thought I had reserved and paid for a specific room (Lehua), since the website asks you to select a specific room when making a reservation. We were surprised to find out that they had constructed three additional rooms (not advertised), increasing the number of potential guests during any given […] night. We were given one of the new rooms (Manini), which appeared to be constructed out of an old closet or storage area. It was very uncomfortable as we are 5ft 7in tall and our heads were hitting the ceiling. The bed was about 4 ft from the ceiling (it was raised up on a staircase - difficult to explain) and the room was stuffy and suffocating, not to mention we could hear people walking back and forth above us all evening. We arrived at 5:15pm to find that the staff had closed up shop and gone home and not left our room key or instructions. With a quick phone call, we were "walked through" the process and were able to enter our room. Staff was polite and apologetic about the room key mix up but was unapologetic about the room selection. I wanted to love this place - the common space was great, with a nice kitchen and dining room, but were highly disappointed in our room and being misled by the website. We stayed in the Nene room. It is indeed very small, but okay for a night. The bed is all good. The bathroom is shared and the hot water comes after a really long time. Very close to Volcano national park and other restos so very convenient indeed.

Rooms are too small for 2 comfortably. The common bathrooms are a pain.The trinkle of water of the shower takes for ever to warm up when it does. de-humidifiers are very noisy. rooms and beds have not been touched by service in 3 days.Breakfast is good. Main location seems better and may be deserves the 4 rating but for us it was barely a 2.

We were very happy with our stay at Volcano Hale. Very clean and maintained. Rooms were a little smaller than the picture. Very closes to the Volcano National Park. Had a really good weekend and Volcano Hale was a big part of it. Will stay there again !!

We booked for one night, they mixed it up with the dates, but gave us a free upgrade to their garden room. This is an awesome place. The breakfast for 6 dollars is totally worth it. The coffe was a bit special though. I can highly recommend this place.

I've stayed at Volcano Hale at least five times now, and the owners keep improving it. They just gave the outside a face lift, including new paint and trim and a sidewalk that goes from the parking area to both doorways....no more having to scrunch down muddy gravel paths. Inside they've added humidifiers which reduce the rain forest moisture inside […] and warm the basement rooms. Granted you do share a bathroom with other guests, but the baths are kept very clean and well-supplied with towels and toiletries. The shared kitchen and living areas with the fireplace are also great. You can join others and meet fellow travelers or select a sitting space by yourself. Devamı

We were in general satisfied with this place. Few disadvantages were, that due to the age of the house, everything is heard trough the walls. We stayed for 4 nights and we were there alone most of the time. Kitchen was clean and living room was very nice.

This is a unique B&B near Volcano National Park. A converted house, there are 6 bedrooms. You share the 2 bathrooms, and have a very spacious living room, kitchen and dining area to share. The location was great, everything was clean and convenient. We loved having a kitchen to use, it really helped us cut down on cost while we were there. The bed was comfy and we would have slept well, if not for the people above us being so loud.

Book 8 months in advance expect worst room. Cramped, under stairs and kitchen. Room same size as bed, with no space for chair, table or clothes closet. Very noisy 24/7. Noisy de-humidifiers everywhere . Shared kitchen and fridge - your food vanishes. Shared shower/toilet room, another 3 flights up stairs. Not posted as not en-suite etc. Not hotel, […] hostel with carpets. Outer doors left unlocked as reception miles away, and guests couldn't be bothered. The location of the chalet was good, one of the closest to the National Park. There are a few restaurants nearby and a gas station. The room was adequate but so small I wouldn't want to spend a long time there. Overall, It was a good night as we were staying at Kona for the week and this saved us some back and forth driving.

It was great that a key was left for us but the opening line of the room location was...You are not staying here! We were so confused. It was dark, cold, wet and we had no idea that we would be having to find the room at a different location. That was a bit rough. Otherwise it was adequate. Clean, beautiful house near Volcano Village and attractions. Our room was very cozy and we appreciated free access to the internet and the decently equipped kitchen. We saved a few bucks by buying dinner at the general store and cooking at home (pasta attracted some of the other housemates and led to a fun chat). Unfortunately at the time we visited […] no live lave flow was happening but we still liked the park and lava tube. Shower was very maintained and stocked with towels and toiletries. I'd have to stay this was the most comfortable place we stayed on Big Island. Only wild card here is that a large party could easily take over the joint (sounds really carries since it's such an old house). On another minor note, the house is in an unincorporated area, meaning that GPS directions can get a little wonky. We called the desk (note: it closes at 5PM) and found the check-in very easily with his guidance. It's about a mile past the Firehouse on Wright. We'd definitely recommend a stay here. Devamı

We (married couple in 40th) stayed at Volcano Hale B&B in January 2011. The house was build in 1912 and therefore it felt like spending time in museum. We really like to visit the old houses and this was one of them. Some furniture and decorations were from the old days. The washroom on the main floor was very clean, with plenty of towels and wash cloth. […] You would have to wait for a while the water warm up in the shower. We occupied the room on the main floor. We turned off dehumidifier for the night because it was pretty loud. Since it worked during the day the room was dry without any smell. The serenity of the place around the house was unbelievable. If we had time I would just sit there for a couple of hours and listen to the birds chirping. The place was absolutely charming. The breakfast ($6 per person) served in the other location was testy. The location of hotel to visit the Volcano Park in the Big Island is excellent. It was very quiet and peaceful as well. But having been on holiday for five weeks in Hawaii and USA this was the smallest accommodation in size, but it has a lot of character being an older property. We spent 2 nights over Christmas time and due to the size of the rooms […] it forced us to mingle in the lounge with other guests which in our case was excellent as we met up with people from USA and Australia, we are from UK, and we (6 of us) cooked a 'Christmas meal' as we had a kitchen , as only 1 restaurant was open in that area. the bed and breakfast experience was nice. the sharing of small refrigerators with the other guest, however was not. i guess they felt free to take what was not theirs even though it was clearly labled with our name. my only suggestion would be to install small refrigerators into each room. otherwise a very enjoyable stay in a beautiful location and […] easy to find. This is a house located on a mostly residential street. The main office (address provided) where you check in is located about 2 blocks away. It's a house that has 3 stories, probably 5 private bedrooms or so, and 2 shared bathrooms. There is a full kitchen and the shared living room/dining room area is huge. The place was very clean. Towels and linens […] are included. If you check in after hours (6 or 7pm, don't remember), they just leave an envelope with the key and directions for you at the main office and you have to check in the next day. Note that the office doesn't open until 7am, so if you check in late and plan on leaving very early the next morning, you do need to fill out paperwork after 7am. The office area also has a very nice breakfast on surprisingly nice china for $6 a person. Devamı

普通の家をシェアしている感じでした。チェックインを１５：００～１７：００の間にしないといけないとか、シャワー、トイレが共同とか制約はあり、リゾートホテルのような至れりつくせりは期待できませんが、それを割り切ればローカルな雰囲気を味わえます。チェックインの場所はややわかりにくい感じで、注意していないと前の道を通っても通り過ぎてしまいそうです。住所からgoogleストリートビューで確認していったので迷わずたどり着けました。チェックインの際に追加料金を払えばプライベートなバスルーム付の部屋にアップグレードできます言われましたが、夜は寝るだけとそのまま申込み通りにしました。いくつかの建物をここで管理しているようです。結局その夜は私たち以外に宿泊客はいなかったようで、静かな夜でした。チェックインの場所 […] と宿泊場所は異なり、チェックインの際に地図をもらってKeonelehua通りにあるHaleに自分で行きます。１ｋｍくらいでしょうか。田舎なので周囲にお店もなく不便です。食事はボルケーノビレッジというところまで行けば食べられます。また朝食は＄６払えばチェックインした建物で採ることができます。ボルケーノビジターセンターには近いので観光の時間が有効に使えました。 Devamı

Ganz in der Nähe des Nationalparks. Das Büro musste wir ein bisschen suchen, haben es dann aber gefunden. Also mein Tipp: Büro im Hellen suchen! Niedlich eingerichtetes und sauberes Zimmer. Mieserabel, Zimmer war eine Abstellkammer mit einem sehr kleinen Fenster und stank extrem, keine eigene Toilette und Bad (mit weiteren 4 Personen zu teilen), auch das letzte Loch wird zum vollen Preis vermietet, sehr schlecht ausgeschildert, haben eine andere Unterkunft genommen

Alles ganz in Ordnung, ich würde das nächste Mal jedoch ein Zimmer in denn oberen Etagen wünschen, da dass rund 100 Jährige Haus in einer sehr feuchter Gegend liegt und die Zimmer mit einem Luftentfeuchter ausgestattet sind, welcher idealerweise über Nacht wegen dem Lärm ausgeschaltet werden .
