Enjoyed our stay immensely! Beautiful old hotel, the view of English Bay is fabulous and the staff were gracious - will definitely be staying there again.

This hotel is a city landmark overlooking English Bay and close to Denman and Davie Streets.

Right on English Bay, 2 minutes to Stanley Park Walking to Robson street shopping and excellent restaurants. Ideal place for a romantic weekend getaway.

They have remodeled part of the hotel and added a great new breakfast area. Great location by Stanley Park on English Bay. I have stayed here before.

The Sylvia Hotel is an excellent location and takes you back in time. Just across the street from English Bay and at the entrance of Stanley Park. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

We just stayed the one night but would definitely stay there again. Its location is perfect, within walking distance to downtown, Stanley Park and English Bay but more importantly the service is outstanding and the hotel has retained a lot of its grandeur and style from a 100 yrs ago.

I don not know why it took the clerk 15 to 20 min. To check us out. We had two bar bills and parking, not complicated! It wasc7:30 am and there was no one else there. We love the classic feel of the hotel and the location is fantastic.

The Sylvia is full of charm and just wonderful. I am a picky lodging guest and wondered if an older building would suite my family. It was extraordinary from check-in to check-out. Our room was huge with a lovely view. We were on the eighth floor and never had to wait more than a minute or two for an elevator. The old-fashioned floor indicator on one […] of the elevators was so charming! The neighborhood is perfect with lots of restaurants only a few blocks away, and the beach just across the street. The Sylvia is an older hotel will no doubt be torn down for condos in another 10 or 20 years. But for now it's a nice place to stay at a decent price for downtown Vancouver. The room was comfortable and clean, although a coffee maker in the room would have been a big plus. The bed was a bit on the firm side but not terribly so. It was only two blocks […] to a number of interesting ethnic restaurants, and if it had not been raining it would have been a wonderful location for a walk along the Stanley Park seawall. The people at the front desk were very helpful and cheerful. Do watch out for the parking garage though, as if you have a cartop carrier on your car you'll need the "oversize" parking. Don't try to go into the underground regular parking with a cartop carrier on your vehicle, as it's only 6 ft 9 inches clearance! Devamı

Comfortable, laid back environment and the location is perfect!

We stayed at the Sylvia for two nights and were pleasantly surprised with it. The room was clean and appeared to have been redone fairly recently, though the corridors leading up to it need work and gave us a bit of a fright (until we saw the room). The hotel has some historical charm, and is in a convenient location for accessing Stanley Park, running […] paths, bike rentals, and sushi. Our only real complaint was that the bed/pillows were not the most comfortable, and the bathroom was a little cramped, but both were OK considering the short stay. Devamı

My husband and I booked a night at the Sylvia Hotel for a little "stay-cation" and we had our two Labrador Retrievers with us. All of the staff in the hotel made us feel very welcome (even our furry family members!) and the hotel was a nice little get away located near great restaurants and nice walks along the beach. It was also fabulous that this […] was the ONLY hotel we found that DID NOT require us to pay per dog, per night to stay. There was no additional charge for our "fur babies", but of course our credit card was kept on file in case there were any accidents as a result of the "kids". I have no problem paying for any accidents as a result of our dogs (there were none as they are very well behaved), but I do have a problem with hotels charging a ridiculous additional fee per dog per night. Hotels don't charge this for peoples kids... All in all, I would recommend the Sylvia to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Vancovuer; especially if you travle with furry kids! Devamı

We have stayed at the Sylvia before and will again. It has the 'feel' of a charming old establishment.

Very pleasant old hotel in a vibrant downtown area. It is well maintained for its age and is run by very helpful and friendly staff.

Upgraded to the best room in the hotel for a minimal fee and was it ever worth it. Everything was superb. From the cocktail in the lounge to the breakfast in the dining room. See you again soon sylvia!

A stately and civilized historic hotel on English Bay in one of the most beautiful urban neighbourhoods in Canada. THat olde homey feeling!

our stays at this hotel are always very satisfactory. the staff is attentive and courteous and the location is ideal. The charm of this historic hotel is what we go for. It feels very comfortable and home like.

Always enjoy staying at The Sylvia. It's got such character which the modern hotels just haven't got, and never will . It's great to see the same faces there each year,all friendly and willing to help. And the situation is just the BEST. Just love it.

Had an amazing stay at the hotel.

Fabulous location - loved the bar and dining room. Had a great dinner party there with wonderful food and attentive service. Loved staying there and hope to return one day. Hotel room was comfortable and clean. The halls need to be renovated - very old hotel with lots of charm.

Really liked being close to Stanley Park and Granville Island. We did a lot of walking and found everything on the West End and Downtown very available on foot. When we wanted to go further, the hotel staff were great about giving directions for public transportation. REALLY easy to get around. We'll stay there again, without a doubt.

As the Sylvia Hotel nears its 100th birthday, the hotel only seems to be getting better. Rooms are being constantly updated, the restaurant is offering more options, and the front desk staff couldn't be any more helpful or friendly. The location on English Bay seals the deal. Enjoy the cosmopolitan flavor of Vancouver without sacrificing comfort, proximity […] to Stanley Park, and access to a variety of excellent restaurants. Overall, The Sylvia Hotel represents an exceptional value, particularly in contrast to newer properties in the neighborhood that seem to lack character or charm. Devamı

We enjoyed our stay at the Sylvia Hotel. It is very conveniently located so close to Stanley Park and you can walk or take a bus downtown very easily. We didn't really try the dining facilities and would have liked to try a self contained suite if one had been available, but we would certainly consider staying there again if we return to Vancouver. […] The vine covered facade is great. The room was ready when we arrived,it was clean and comfortable.Staff at desk not too helpful re-sights to visit or where to catch trolley.We were told phone calls{local} were free but charged for them on checkout. Restaurant caters to regulars and ignors new clients. Lovely setting,enjoyed the beach and walks.

Since my first visit to Vancouver 15 years ago I've always wanted to stay at the Sylvia and it lived up to my expectations. Totally romantic setting where you can watch the sunset, walk to Stanley park, eat at great restaurant. You can feel the history in it's walls, but luckily not in its' mattresses as we had a clean, recently updated room. Our room was upgraded. From a Queen bed with an ocean view to a King bed with condos looking in on us. The ceiling had patched but unpainted holes, and the bathroom had repaired but ungrouted tiles, and several nasty looking broken tiles. No coffee, no amenities, and when I told the manager that his hotel compared about the same as the Riobamba Inn […] in Rio Bamba Ecuador, he was unphased. We were also promised a 2pm check in and it was 3:30 getting us in the room. I'm used to much better, but I've stayed at worse - but only a few times. Dr. William F. Devamı

While the hotel was in a very good location, beside the beach and Stanley Park, overall I would not consider this hotel value for money. There was an unpleasant stale smell throughout the hotel, no coffee/ tea making facilities in room, no air con, limited toiletries and the towels were rather thin. We had a dog in the room on one side and vociferous […] children on the other side which we found intrusive (only on the first evening thankfully!) While the staff at the desk were very pleasant they didn't seem interested in answering questions about anything not relating to the services they provided. If you are looking for location and history, this hotel fits the bill - across the street from English Bay and a 5-10 minute seawall walk to Stanley Park. And this hotel has almost 100 years of history. But, the rooms are small and antiquated. There is need for some updating and there is no air conditioning (be sure to ask for a room fan if it over […] 20 degrees C outside). It is also the first hotel we have stayed in that does not routinely provide shampoo or conditioner to its guests. The restaurant prices are reasonable and you can't beat the view if you are lucky enough to get one of the bay-facing rooms. Average value overall. Devamı

The Sylvia is like a friend, with gracious services, good food and very nice accomodations. It is old, graceful and accomodating. Thank you for keeping your charm and reasonable pricing. The setting is the best in Vancouver.

Great location overlooking the water and a beautiful historic hotel. Only complaint is the room was tiny, there was just enough room to walk around the bed and the bathroom was quite small also.

Sylvia is a Vancouver landmark and the location cannot be equaled. You step out the door and you are on the beach and also at the beginning of Stanley Park. Your recreation if right there. The staff is very cordial and helpful. In walking distance are good restaurants and every ethnic cuisine is available. It was built in 1912 and has the flavor of […] another era and the outside is well known for its ivy covered walls. The hotel loungs is a popular place for watching the sunet over the water. You are minutes away from Granville Island. The location is a few steps to the bus lines to other parts of Cancouver---couldn't be more convenient. I would never stay anywhere else in Vancouver!!! This hotel had a great location being right on English Bay, and a couple blocks from Stanley Park. AWESOME! the restaurant food was great and reasonably priced. The price was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.

I actually lucked out by finding the Sylvia Hotel on hotels.com, I had planned a spur of the moment trip to Vancouver to watch the Stanley Cup Final game from the fan zone downtown.(We all know how THAT turned out!) Anyhow, I just looked for reasonably priced hotels near downtown Vancouver, and the Sylvia was the first one I found with rooms available. […] I have heard of the Sylvia, and seen it from the outside, and wondered what it was like inside. It is very charming, I liked the decor of the room and the common areas,I was pleasantly surprised to find an LCD flat screen TV in the room, that got clear reception! Too many times I've stayed in hotels that have small TVs that have poor reception. The location of the property is amazing, steps from English Bay, and was particularly nice given the events downtown last week, it was nice and quiet. Had dinner in the restaurant one night, along with an amazing cocktail, I've heard the Sylvia is famous for those. The food was excellent, not cheap, but well worth the money. I will definitely consider staying at the Sylvia on my next visit to Vancouver! Loved it! Devamı

What a gem. Great atmosphere, perfect location, nice, accomodating staff. At the end of an exhausting day visiting this beautiful city, there's nothing like a drink on the terrace looking over the park and the beach, or inside the cozy, comfortable bar. I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed my stay at the Sylvia Hotel last week (Week of May 30)!! What an adorable place full of so much character. And the view of English bay from my room on the 6th floor was breathtaking. I had 4 HUGE picture windows in my room (request a bay-facing room) that let in tons of light. Also, the meals were wonderful […] and CHEAP, relative to so many of Vancouver's otherwise very pricey restaurants. A breakfast of 3 blueberry pancakes (with real BC blueberries!), 3 strips of bacon, two eggs, and fresh-squeezed orange juice was just $10! That's it. No catch. I also added coffee for an additional small amount. I honestly have nothing really bad to say. The only item that some may notice - the building is old, but very well kept (my room had been renovated), but still in some hallways a little musty smell is detectable. But, who cares? All of the great things about this gem far outweigh that one very slight put off. I hardly took notice. I'd stay here again and again when in Vancouver. Devamı

This is a small beautifully run hotel. The staff are very helpful. It is in a great location and an enjoyable place to stay. Check the room you get as there are some rooms which are too noisey, too public and are vulnerable. Otherwise a great place to spend a few days.

The hotel could not have been in a better location. A quaint old place right on the shoreline in the westside of town. The folks who work there were the best and the restaurant was comfortable with good food. A great stay and we cannot wait to return to spend even more time there.

Great Location, near downtown, next door to Stanley park and near a wide array of food choices.
