Ruby Room - Chicago

The check in was quick and painless. I loved the room, very quiet and bed very comfortable. The steam shower was great, but no place to sit and enjoy the steam. Just be careful with the stairs up to the rooms, specially the first step coming in.

The website does not state that there is no elevator, parking, TV or guest services. I stayed for work and it was quite inconvenient climbing 4 flights of stairs w/briefcase-computer and work materials 2 times a day, driving around to find public parking, told comp. coffe,but not at a time people head to work. I had a very relaxing one-night stay at the Ruby Room in Chicago. Free wifi and aveda products. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in; nice quiet neighborhood and amazing HOT shower. Highly recommended. Yes, you do have climb 2-3 flights of stairs to get to your room so just know that going in.

Ruby Room was just okay. I was excited that it was a non-conventional hotel with aveda products, but I don't think it delivered quite what I had expected. I'll start with the pluses: smelled awesome, like incense. I liked the communal kitchen with complimentary tea and coffee. I enjoyed the CD player with soothing sounds (though the CD seems to be […] busted and puts off a slight static noise), the location is amazing the staff are super nice, like I said aveda products are a win, the place is clean, the bed is super comfortable, the chandelier is pretty & the steam shower is awesome. However, It was awkward to walk into a beauty salon in order to check in, but they were very nice and accommodating and even let me check in early. The room was fairly well appointed, however, the hotel ignored the comments I sent them through the site that I was allergic to down and to not include this type of bedding in my room. It was easy enough to remove the down comforter and pillows and fortunately they had some pillows that were cotton and a throw that was cotton so I made do. The worst part about the stay was that the the rooms (even the suite I stayed in at the top floor) have paper thin walls and the staff is very loud when dragging equipment in and out (and in and out) of the hallway in the morning, allowing doors to slam and not being very considerate of the sleeping guests. The second night I stayed, I even wrote a polite note on the communal chalkboard that was intended for cleaning requests asking that they please try to be quiet in the morning and the note was ignored. Those are my only two complaints. I'm not sure it was totally worth the money, but I would recommend it as an okay place in a great location, especially if you're not a light sleeper and aren't allergic to down :) Devamı

You check in at the Ruby Room Spa. I stayed in 3A which is the third floor at the front of the building. This meant that even though I prefer to go to bed early, I would hear the night club noise across the street on Saturday night. But this noise was muted and was able to sleep. No phone. No TV. I think that helped make my stay less stressful. Leave […] a note on the chalk board if you want the room cleaned otherwise there is no cleaning of the room at all. But my room was very clean anyway. The bed was probably the most comfortable bed of any hotel I've stayed in. Amazing! The shower included a steam room! Toilet pressure was very low so you might have to flush 5 times if you have normal bowel regularity. Shared kitchen has everything. Stairway is narrow, so do not book here if you have to use a wheelchair, walker, crutches, or cane. All in all it was a very good stay and plenty of cute restaurants and other services nearby. Ruby Room is not a traditional hotel. It's a day spa, shop, and salon that rents out bed & breakfast-style rooms in the building next door above the yoga studio. If you're looking for a traditional hotel, this setup might not be ideal, but otherwise, Ruby Room is a total gem. Check-in staff were extremely friendly. I especially appreciated the ice-cold […] air conditioning in summer, the Aveda products in the bathroom, and the relaxing yoga mix CD included in the room's stereo. Room was immaculately cleaned and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I also made use of the communal kitchen on my floor to heat up leftovers and make coffee in the morning. My only complaint was the shower, which had slightly low water pressure and didn't manage to get as warm as I would have liked. The street has a number of shops, cafes, and restaurants, and it's just a few blocks from the CTA Blue Line. Ruby Room would be excellent for a romantic getaway, leisure trip, or relaxing weekend. We stayed on the 4th floor of the Ruby Room and found it to be delightful! Great air conditioning on a very hot Chicago day, a small deck leading down to the patio, super clean everywhere, with the best bed and linens ever! The stairs were not an issue, but definitely not for the weak or disabled.

The Ruby Room is gem in the heart of Wicker Park. If you are looking for the normal run of the mill hotel then don’t bother with the Ruby Room. If you are looking for a great room, privacy, a great night sleep (the bed was exceptionally comfortable) in a fantastic location then the Ruby Room could be for you.
