Hotel Excelsior Splendide - Bellagio

We wanted to wake up to the extraordinary view of the lake and mountains so we landed a room at the front of the hotel. This was at a price. The noise from the street radiates through the window with ease. On top of that, someone in a room next to us woke up at 5:30am apparently to catch a fairy and we were able to hear every single movement they made. […] For an old building it generates sound through its walls and even seems to amplify them. My advice, get a room at the back and hope nobody next to you has to leave early in the morning or come home really late at night. Maybe we are just light sleepers. Devamı

Lovely older hotel. Fantastic location and wonderful staff. The hotel has old world elegance and was more than comfortable.

This was a great hotel for convenience and location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The amenities were basic (shampoo, soap etc.) but not a big deal.

We had a triple room with sea view. The room was large and of good standard and the beds were comfortable.The bathroom was also large, although the shower cabin was tiny (not a problem for us though). The breakfast was the usual: bread, jam, cheese and ham, eggs, yoghurt, dreadful juice etc. The hotel is situated very close to the lake and the car-ferry […] terminal and there are several resturants very close by. We were not disturbed by noice from outside but we were sometimes woken up by people coming home late as the doors are not exactly sound proof. The staff is friendly and helpful. Wifi costs extra (5 euros for three days) and the quality is not perfect. Overall I think the three stars are adequate for this hotel. Devamı

Very welcoming staff, beautiful old building, upgraded us to a room with a lake view. Nice restaurant, great location, shutters for noise reduction (near the ferry wharf). Loved it. Beds were a tad soft for me.

A beautiful hotel right on the shores of Lake Como! The hotel was very easy to find, and beautiful. Our room overlooked the lake. The beds were fine. We were there the first of April, so the area quieted down early and we slept well. We had planned to dine at the restaurant, as the menu looked promising, but changed our plans. The dining room appeared […] to be busy serving dinner to a tour group. The tables were all lined up in a row, with no atmosphere. The free breakfast buffet was definitely lacking. One choice of meet, one choice of cheese, some cereals. Very uninspired. Other than that, I would certainly stay here again. Devamı

A very nice hotel right on Lake Como in Bellagio, Italy. Beautiful view out the window of the lake and mountains in background. The staff were very helpful about what to see in the area and for dinner suggestions. The town in fun to see, and ferry boats leave from right near the hotel to other towns on the lake.

We stayed here at the beginning of October 2011. While it was a little difficult to get to in a car, the location was nice on the lake. It does get loud due to the boat being outside of the window (while it is running - between 7a and 7p?) and the air conditioning was not on and a bit warm so we had to keep the window to the balcony open. There was […] also "live" entertainment down the street that was a bit loud so we had to go to sleep with the tv on.Outside of that, the hotel was great!!! Breakfast was great, the room was comfortable, the rooms were a great size for Italy standards and very clean if we ever go back to Bellagio we would stay here. Bellagio is expensive but if you go off the main street by the lake, there are less expensive restaurants. The boats run often and you can hop on to visit any of the quiant little towns. Should you drive: The trip from Como to Bellagio is as much of a nightmare as everyone states (narrow lanes and curvey). When we left, we went another way (towards Lecco) and it was not as bad. Good central hotel. Only problem beds need to be replaced in 4 bedroom. Were not comfortable. Nice view of lake from window. Helpful staff. Breakfast good however very busy with lots of tourists.

Just loved the hotel. It has so much character and charm. Loved walking up the marble staircase. From your room, you open the window and have a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. Hope to visit there again in the future.

There are few hotels in Bellagio. The location of this hotel is very good. And if your request a lake view you will be very happy. Also, make sure it has A/C. If not, stay else where. Specifically booked a lake view family room for four, as shown on site page. When we arrived, we were given two seperate rooms, one very small, not adjacent to each other and both facing to the rear. With a young family this was totally inconvenient and the lack of a lake view in Bellagio greatly devalues the experience. Generally the Hotel is dated […] and only opens for the summer period. The breakfast is strickly for mass production, in Italy and coffee from a machine!. If your staying half board, which thankfully we were not, you are asked to choose your evening meal at breakfast time. In short best avoided. Devamı

Bellagio has to be one of the most beautiful and under visited towns in Italy. This hotel is smack in the middle of it, with basic but clean and spacious rooms overlooking Lake Como. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an older building but, although not at par with modern city hotels in terms of decor, is perfectly adequate. The […] dining room downstairs is definitely uninspired, so skip it and head to the many restaurants in town (and I would also recommend skipping the overpriced lakefront restaurants for the much better ones up in the older part of town. We just completed a two week driving tour of Europe that took us through Spain, France, Italy, and Switzerland, and the best hotel we stayed at during the entire trip was the Hotel Excelsior Splendide in the small town of Bellagio, which lies on the edge of Lake Como, Italy. The main reason for our glowing review was the friendliness and helpfulness […] of the hotel staff, particularly Jasmine and Frederica, the two women working at the front desk. In addition, the hotel was ideally located with easy access to the ferry, shops, and restaurants. As an example of the great service, when our travel plans changed and we needed to add one night (during the busy Summer rush), Jasmine was able to do it AND give us the same great rate we had for the other nights. And when we arrived at the hotel Jasmine drew a map of how to find a hidden little parking lot where we parked our car for three days for free. And when we needed a good recommendation for a great pizzeria, Jasmine gave us several options, showed us where they were on a map, and explained the differences (and the one we chose ended up being great). Also, when we wanted to rent a motorboat at the last minute for a lakeside cruise, Frederica not only volunteered to call and check availability, but she made the reservation for us, verified the ferry schedule for us, and hand drew a map of how to get to the dock. Also, one morning I needed to scan a document and e-mail it to the US, so Frederica powered up the office computer and helped me to not only scan the document but to see that it got where it was supposed to go. These are just a few examples of how the staff at the Hotel Excelsior Splendide made our stay one of the best we had in Europe. As for the hotel itself, we were on the top floor with a window that overlooked the lake--it was absolutely amazing, and we had beautiful sunset views every evening. Great location in the centre of Bellagio. Although the hotel is old and in need of an update it is clean, spacious and has very friendly staff! We really enjoyed our 2 night stay and had a room with a view overlooking the lake.

The hotel is located right in front of the ferry terminal. Beautiful view of the lake and surroundings. Staff at the reception were also friendly and helpful. The only thing about our family room was that it was dated. 1 bathtub with no proper shower (except one in bath) nor curtains to keep the floor dry should we use just the shower nor handles to […] get out of bathtub. What a wonderful hotel in the best location in Bellagio! We had a balcony overlooking the lake and those gorgeous mountains and while we'd heard it was noisy, we loved hearing the nightsounds of people walking and enjoying themselves which all ended at midnight - a perfectly reasonable time. The staff couldn't have been more helpful when we were caught […] in a train strike and had to extend our stay - something we were thrilled to do! Looking back, I would have stayed longer here and less time in Venice - this is truly a spectacular place to go. The ferry stop is right across from the hotel which made it so easy to hop on and off to the nearby hilltowns. And the shopping and dining is all within an easy walk (if you can walk hills) and is just fantastic. You must go! Devamı

This hotel is very old, but the rooms have been made over to look nice and new! The breakfast was okay, but avoid the juice...fructose syrup. The staff was very friendly and kind.

The hotel is located superbly once you take the boat which only costs Euro 18 each way. The night receptionist with the name Abdul is a really good and caring man, we arrived very tired at night after 6 hours drive from Innsbruck and I can say he made the welcome at ease. He was instrumental in making my hotel stay one of the highest.. I do recommend […] this hotel and Abdul the receptionist is really a true gentleman with great professionalism. Breakfast was more than enough and plenty and no waiting time. Parking infront of hotel is easy also. I do recommend this hotel and would like to go again. We were thrilled with the location of the Hotel Splendide...right on the lake and within walking distance of everything in Bellagio. The furnishings were nice, rooms were large but the bed was too hard. Our room had a nice view of the town and lake and breakfast in the morning was decent.

For a 3 star hotel, this was a great place in Bellagio. The location is perfect and is very convenient to all of the shops, restaurants, and ferry stops. The beds were fine, but don't expect them to be very comfortable. The pool was in pretty bad shape and the bathroom was small, but other than that, we had a great stay. You can get wireless internet […] for a good price in the lobby and at the cafe across the street, which was nice. Devamı

We loved this hotel and the staff...We only wished we could of stayed longer. We read other reviews that where not flattering of the property, but we loved it.

We had a family room (2 adults, 2 children). The room was about 20 feet by 12 feet.. The accomodations are not new nor large by western standards. The tv was tiny & mounted on the ceiling. We did not have a refrigerator. The room did not have a/c. Only 20 rooms in the hotel in the hotel do. However, the weather was only in the 70s/80s so it was fine. The […] breakfast was a generous continental - with sweet breads, yogurts, bread, meat, cheese, coffee, milk, juices and a few cereals. We had a room overlooking the water so it was beautiful but a bit noisy at night with music from the boulevard restaurants. The location is ideal to explore Bellagio and other Lake towns via ferry. The hotel is across from the ferry and very picturesque. There is no parking at the hotel but plenty of pay parking across the street and free parking (if you can get it) at a location a kilometer+ away. The pool is behind the hotel and up on the side of the hill. It is unheated and deep without a shallow end. There are plenty of lounge chairs. The staff was friendly and we had no complaints. I would struggle to fault this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the service we received was amazing. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and were always available for a chat. We got a lake view room, and it was great to wake up to these views every morning. The pool was a welcome addition on hot afternoons. Definitely recommend a stay here […] . Devamı

The hotel had a nice old-world feel about it but it was quite basic and the beds were really quite uncomfortable. Its a good hotel to stay at if you just want somewhere functional to stay at night rather than to spend a lot of time in the room. The lake view is fantastic though and well worth it!

Perfekt läge precis vid hamnen och gamla stadsdelen. Bra service och trevlig personal. Kommer du med bil dag tid mellan kl 10-19 så får du problem med parkering. Personalen beklagade att hotellet saknade internetkoppling och gästparking. Detta hade angivits vid hotellinformationen på hotels.com och det var mycket angelägna att rätta till detta.

Alles bestens - gerne wieder !

Nice old hotel just beside the lake. Friendly service and reasonable prices makes it the most recommended place to stay.

Hotel sehr schön und sehr alt - was man da und dort auch sieht. Zimmer grosszügig mit genügend Platz und Sitzgelegenheiten. Decken sind auch genügend vorhanden. Bad angenehm und sehr sauber. - Warum gibt es auf der Wanne kein Glas, damit man anständig duschen kann und nicht das ganze Bad unter Wasser setzt. Schon ein Dusch-Vorhang würde genügen. Personal […] sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Kaffee beim Frühstück lässt zu wünschen übrig. Nescafé-Automaten sind im Kaffee-Land Italien wirklich fehl am Platze. Devamı

Idéalement situé, en face du lac de côme. Avis partagé sur cet hôtel car quelques points négatifs : salle de bain mériterait d'être refaite et propreté de salle de bain vraiment limite. Petit déjeuner très moyen pour ce type d'hôtel. Hotel relativement bruyant (de construction ancienne) Mais bon, ll reste bien placé en face de côme.

situation ideale bon accueil bon petit dej agréable piscine exterieure c'est un peu mesquin de reclamer un supplémént pour la connection onternet.... vu le prix de l 'hotel; par contre les repas sont exorbitants partout dans les restaurants ne pas aller au resto pres de la tore car viellles pates réchauffées au micro-onde ,brulures d'estomac garanties […] le soir Devamı

Gammalt och lite slitet hotell men med en fin stil i byggnadsdetaljerna. Mycket fin utsikt över Como sjön och färjeläget. Centralt läge. Pool med grönskande trädgård. Dock ingen AC. Continental frukost ok.

Good, nice hotel in a very beautiful city and area. Breakfast good to Italian standards. Nice private pool area for an afternoon rest. Before booking, light sleepers should however be aware of 1) ferry terminal just outside = noisy every 30 minutes from 6AM - and for us worse... 2) they (the city, I guess), started cleaning the square outside the hotel […] at 6AM also - with +100dB noisy machines. Reception og hjælpsomhed super, super. Alle i Bellagio taler engelsk. Værelserne er super fine, sengene er gode, effektiv aircon, desværre ingen køleskab. Meget hyggelig by, men ikke meget "aktivt" at lave, fine restauranter. Vælg ikke Bellagio hvis man ønsker aktiv/bade ferie, lidt pensionist rejsemål over det. Transport med bil til og fra Bellagio […] er via færge til Cadenabbia di Griante (ca. 19 EUR for 3 pers og lang st.car). Landvejen er umulig(lang og smal). Ingen strande og bademuligheder som ved Gardasøen. Til ren afslapning og småture rundt i byen (alt er trapper, så man får gode lægmuskler) er Bellagio i top og hotellet fint til prisen. Ønsker man at køre meget rundt i bil selv, ville vi vælge et hotel på den anden side og så besøge Bellagio 1 dag med færgen uden bil. Husk at se: Como, Milano og outlet i Mendrisio. Devamı

Fantastisk beliggenhed i hjertet af charmerende Belaggio, og med spektakulær udsigt over Comosøen. Hyggelig "baghave" med Swimming pool, der var et absolut plus i lyset af at vi var der midt på sommeren med høj sol og temperatur over 30 gr.C Personalet var venligt. imødekommende og professionelt. Det trækker omvendt fra at der på et 3 stjernet hotel […] i et klassisk sommerferieområde IKKE er aircondition på værelset, eller blot en ventilator. Sengene var også under al kritik. Erg mooi oud hotel, maar mag opgeknapt worden. Kamer was prima, schoon, helaas geen airco wel een ventilator, met niet passende stekker!! Kregen wel binnen 10 minuten een andere ventilator. Ligging perfect, midden in het centrum. Klein zwembadje, maar voldoende voor een verfrissende duik. Ontbijt was prima.

A bit run down, but it is a very charming hotel. Great located by the lake. Nice staff and helpfull staff.

Et pudsigt hotel Man kunne fornemme at det tidligere havde været et dyrt hotel men det nu bliver drevet lidt mere på lavprisbasis Men fint hotel til prisen hvis jeg kommer tilbage til Bellagio vil jeg bestille her igen
