The hotel was easy to find from the Kurasuma-Oike metro station - only two streets away (taking exit #2) and down a short alleyway. The check-in was pain free, and the room clean but very old. The furniture was in dire need of an upgrade and the bathroom was quite old, but functional. The room was small, but bearable, and nowhere near as small as some […] of the Japan hotel horror stories suggest other rooms must be. The hotel was located in an area full of izakayas (small bars/restaurants), and a short walk to the key shopping district (about 5-10 minutes to Taramachi arcade), and the Imperial Palace gardens (about 5 minutes). Many other places were easily accessible by catching a subway train from the nearby Metro station. The hotel breakfast buffet was cheap (1000 yen/person) and well appointed - good western choices as well as traditional. Would definitely recommend the hotel as a convenient location, but for the price an upgrade of facilities would make it much better value. Devamı

The Hearton Hotel was not as good as some of the other hotels that I stayed at during the trip to Japan. The room was very small, even by Japanese standards. The hotel location was not as convinent as I had hoped it would be. At the price of this hotel, I could have stayed at a western style hotel. The hotel is in a good location, close to the subway. Walking distance (about 25 minutes) from Gion. It's in a nice area too. The room itself was small, but its meant to just sleep in, so it does the job.

Service and Food great. Japenese restaurant excellent. Not much English spoken. On first impression we thought the hotel was not convenient to tourist attractions but on investigating near great shops and the Kyoto mueseum which was excellent. Rooms very small.

We had a very good price for the lower season in February. The hotel is very clean and the double room is in average size. The room itself has good quality and the bath has a good size. Hearton hotel was a convenient walking distance from great places to eat and interesting shopping. It was a very quiet and comfortable place to stay and close to the metro station and Manga museum.

staffs speaks English and are very friendly. Close to station, easy to find. Enjoy the free coffee at the lobby every morning because we usually meet other tourists who are willing to exchange views of places of interest.

The bed is enough for 2 people (asian girls). The bed is much bigger than Hearton Shinsaibashi which was quite a squeeze. However, it is good value for money when we booked it considering it is Japan.

Stayed here as a couple in a double room December 2011. The hotel is conveniently located within a very short walk from The Karasuma Oike subway station. Convenience store is around the corner. The lobby area is comfortable and spacious. Our room, on the other hand, was tiny even by Japanese standards, more suitable we thought,to have been sold as a […] semi-double than a double. Walls were freshly painted. The room was clean and the bathroom was adequate for our needs. Toiletries were of good quality.The room furniture was chipped and furnishings dated and worn. Compared to other similarly priced hotels we have stayed in while in the same region we were a little disappointed. However as there is so much to see and do in Kyoto we did not spend much time at the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet so we slept well during our stay. This hotel has a coin operated laundry for guest use which is helpful if you, like us, like to travel light. The only english language channel on TV has a Japanese voice-over. Nice and quite business hotel in very central location in Kyoto. Good value for money even during major autumn tourist season. Close to Karasuma-Oike subway stop (10min ride from Kyoto station). Walking distance to city centre (10min).

The hotel was nice and clean--very westernized and big. However, we made our reservation for two adults and two children and we only got one bed! How are four people supposed to sleep in one bed??? We had to pay more for a room with two beds. One of our children was 3 months old and the hotel didn't have any cribs. Excellent value. Make sure you pronounce it Heart-ton, and bring a map, or your cab driver might have difficulty finding it.

The room was small and tidy. The bathroom was very small but adequate. The single "double" bed was marginal for two American adults to sleep comfortably. The location was ideal for access to sights and shopping as it was but three stops from the railroad station and one stop from sights and shopping. They were friendly but not overly so. You got whatever you asked for nothing more. The rooms were spotless but a little worn down. The location was a bit off the beaten path, hear a subway station but quite a ways from the nearest JRail station. The Hearton in Kyoto is a bit expensive for the small size (at least by Canadian standards) however the hotel was very clean and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly, which I expected given it's Japan, and the location was close to restaurants and public transport. Would stay there again and definitely recommend.

Staff are nice but the room is too small. Free bicycle rent is of great use in touring around the city. Recommended.

about 1.5 miles from the train station and hidden in an alleyway from all the noise. the rooms were tiny as all japanese hotels are but the service was great and the breakfast was good albeit expensive. i would stay here again. close to the subway station and bus stops as well. 15 min walk from the nishiki market.

Good location near subway. Good buffet breakfast. Free wi-fi. Room very small, almost no shelf or hanging space, but had comfortable desk and chair and desk lamp, electric jug, bar fridge.

Nice hotel in the middle of Kyoto, within a walking distance from many tourist sites and close to metro station. The single room is quite small (enough space for a bed and a suitcase, with no closet), although this might be a general comment for hotels in Japan. we rent a car for the trip, and the hotel offer a cheap price for its customers (only JPY 16000 for 24 hrs parking). the price is really cheap. the hotel location is very conveniene. only 10 mins walk is needed for shopping on local clothing/ gift/ wet market.

Background: Two of us stayed at the Hotel Hearton Kyoto for roughly one week vacationing in and around Kyoto. First off, the room (semi-double) is small and thus hard to navigate with two people; the bed is a mere 1.2 meters wide. You had better be comfortable with your partner in small spaces. If you can get past that, the location is excellent, […] right next to the subway station where the two main lines of Kyoto intersect (Karasume-Oike) and within walking distance of Hankyu railway Karasume station. Very nearby are also convenience stores such as 7-11 and Lawson and places to eat in the small streets of Kyoto (we found an excellent noodle shop a few blocks away). Sites within walking distance are Nijo-jo, the Imperial Palace, and Honno-ji (both the original and the new one). If you want the convenience to go anywhere and everywhere in Kyoto and beyond, this is the place to be. Back to the hotel, the rooms and facilities are certainly clean. No bugs or dirt or mold of any sort, so you can rest free from any worries related to that. Internet connection via ethernet cable is free, fast, and available in the room, which is convenient for planning the next day's activities. The water pressure, water heat, and speed of heating are all great for a comfortable shower. The staff is friendly, though we did not correspond with them much. For example, the staff won't enter the same elevator as you. We had breakfast at the hotel at both the japanese and western locations. The japanese breakfast is great but may not be enough food for those with large appetites. It may be weird too for those who haven't experienced it before (for example, fish, tofu, preserved vegetables, and maybe something slimy) . The western breakfast is buffet so you should be able to get enough to eat. The variety is not spectacular but what they have is good (scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, bread, and salad). This hotel seems more like a bargain Super 8 hotel. the lobby looks nice, but the rooms are small, have bad carpet and are minimally furnished. The desk staff was helpful with directions to sights. The lobby breakfast is way too expensive (6 Yen for bread and drink; 15 Y for full buffet) The location is "ok". The subway is about 2 blks away, with a […] 7-11 around the corner. Really nice hotel with good breakfast included in the price. Good location close to the subway station and reasonably sized rooms. A few stops from the station but really close to a lot of shops/restaurants.

The hotel was comfortable for my 1 night stay. I actually stayed at discount price so would have been disappointed with the room had I paid full price. That sai, I think most people who travel budget would be pleasantly surprised - the bathroom was a fair size and the bed alittle larger than a single. The location was the best part for me. This is a nice hotel in the heart of Kyoto. It's a block from the Karasuma-Oike subway stop (the intersection of the two lines). The staff are friendly, and in general speak English or will find someone who can speak English. The rooms are small, but not too crampt - with the bathroom similar. very clean hotel and room. rooms are not very big. mine had two good size single beds, desk with large flat-screen TV and a small table & chairs. bath had shower head. fast broadband via a supplied ethernet cable (no wifi). breakfast was continental. restaurant clean and basic but there are lots of alternatives within walking distance. This was the second Hearton we stayed at on our recent holiday in Japan. In comparison to the semi double we stayed in at the Hearton Nishiumeda in Osaka, the double room at Hearton Kyoto was wider by a good 60cm, enough for a proper bag rack and full length desk. We were also given four pillows on the bed - two Japanese and two non-Japanese - compared […] to two in Osaka. Good breakfast buffet for the standard JPY1000 each. For those travelling with large cases don't use exit 1 out of the subway as advised by the hotel as it is ALL steps. Use exit 3 that comes up on the opposite side of the road but it's a lift. With a pack or small bag exit 1 is perfect as you come out of the subway and turn left down the first street and the hotel is maybe 100m down the road. From 3 you come out of the lift and walk up to the pedestrian crossing that will take you down the street the hotel is situated on. We don't hesitate to recommed the Hearton Kyoto, or any Hearton for that matter. Devamı

Tourists need to get the Kyoto bus pass to get to the sights. Front desk has them, very convenient! The 'western' breakfast buffet was an excellent value, with a great selection...no need for lunch after this breakfast.

Hotel was a bit hard to find, but it was great. No difficulty with anything. Close to imperial palace and if up for it, the whole of Kyoto.
