Econo Lodge Downtown - Augusta

The room was dirty and had a strange smell. The linens were torn. There was a dead bug in the fridge. The alarm clock had a sticky film of dust. One of the lamps wasn't working. There was no iron in the room, so I had to go downstairs to pick up the iron and ironing board. The neighborhood was sketchy. I was worried about leaving my car in the lot. […] The walls were paper thin. I could hear conversations from next door. The only positive was the proximity to the university. It was a filthy hotel that I really didn't feel safe being at. In retrospect, I wish I put up the extra money and found another hotel where I could have had some peace of mind. Devamı

the bed was horribly uncomfortable. I woke up so stiff I could barely move. there were several spots in the room where the wall had been repaired or had an attempt at repair and it wasn't even painted over. the table in the room was so wobbly you couldn't trust it to support a laptop computer. when we opened the door to the room, we were assaulted […] by an overwhelmingly sickly sweet smell. we had to leave the exhaust fan in the bathroom on and after a few hours it became evident why there was such a heavy perfume in the room - they were trying to cover up the smell of mold. I was appalled at the significant amount of mold that was visible in the bathroom, on the tub, along the base of the tub and the obvious water damage that was evident on the walls in the bathroom. Maid service was miserable. Towels were not delivered, the maid used a horrible room freshener that made the room stink. When we complained, the duty clerk just said well leave your door open for awhile. Since we were right across from the ice maker we certainly did not feel like giving folks getting ice a view of our room. I requested that the freshener […] not be used the next morning. Not only was it used but NO towels had been left. I had to go to the front desk to get them. When I did this, another guest was coming up. He didn't have towels either. While the hotel appeared to be clean, the smell of the cleaning products used on the carpets was overwhelmng. We did not get a good nights sleep due to the overpowering smell which caused us to cough most of the night. Doors were opening and closing all night long making it impossible to feel secure. The main thing with a room is that you should feel safe and clean while staying, but this one was a little contrary. The service was very friendly, and we appreciate that, but overall this was definitely a 2 star hotel. The price was right for our short stay also, so just take that into consideration when shopping around.

Only problem we had was bathroom light went out and we asked for someone to come and fix the light. After about an hour when we were trying to get ready to go out to a concert, we wind up going to the office and getting light bulb and replacing it ourselves.
