What a great spot. Very relaxing and only 10 mins away from Downtown San Luis Obispo.

The hotel service, location, and overall value were excellent. The ocean view room we had was an excellent location literally steps away from the beach. The suite-type / kitchenette room we had was excellent with a large entry/living room and small kitchenette. There were two TV's in the room and doors to separate the two individual areas within. A […] few cute things within the room which my wife enjoyed. Personally, I enjoyed the large comfortable bed and the view of the ocean more than anything else in the room. The services and amenities are quite good for the hotel. I really enjoyed the self-serve breakfast as it had a good variety of food and a waffle maker and all the toppings you would want. There is even self-serve washer and dryer on the premises, but only one each so you may be hard-pressed to have accessibility. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had some questions about the Farmer's Market on Thursday in downtown SLO and they were able to answer all questions. I used to go to Cal Poly SLO and it had been some years since I had been to Avila Beach. I can see they really built up the downtown area (a very short walk from the hotel). It has really been upgraded nicely! I would like to see more bars and entertainment venues though as there was only one which stayed open late enough for us while we were staying. The town seems to be more catered to people with families or older type couples (we are in our mid-30's). I read the other reviews about the crosswalk being noisy with the auditory alert, but did not have an issue with this. We stayed in a ocean view room right next to the crosswalk and did not hear it. The only possible complaint we have is the parking structure. It was supposed to be secured and have access to hotel guests only, but the bars to block the entrance and exit were always up allowing anyone to come in. Beautiful suite hotel. Wonderful grounds small street to cross to beach. Quaint town area only three square blocks. All shop owners/workers very friendly. A little something for everyone if want beach. Adult bars, wine bars and children stores.

Priced well, great breakfast, covered/gated parking, location is awesome and rooms were spacious. My kids and my wife all had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the year-round warm pool. I enjoyed every minute of my stay their.....THIS IS DEFINITELY A 4STAR PLACE AND LOCATION. GREAT LITTLE TOWN TO GET AWAY.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights this week. I had to be in San Luis Obispo for business and wanted a nice place to stay that was also a deal. I got more than I expected! The staff was very friendly, my room was large and nicely decorated (surf/beach style rather than just standard hotel decor) and great bathroom. Although I picked a park and not […] a beach/pool view I got both the park and the beach. It was lovely and quiet. It is off season so I'm sure it isn't this quiet during summer. The beach is literally steps away and there is a pool as well. I would love to bring my family back to this town. It is a cute little town that reminds me of So Cal in the 70s - small, laid back and fun. I highly recommend this town and this hotel. Devamı

Close to everything in Avila. Clean and comfey and quiet. Walking distance to the restarants and beach. We stayed for 4 nights and it was a perfect vacation.

I love this hotel however, the last three times staying there had to ask for heat in the room. The maintenance man was really good but three times? Would have liked an ocean view room as we had paid for it in December. Our room was downstairs #108 and had a view of the pool. Not sure that we will be back.

My family-- husband, one-year-old, and myself-- stayed at the Lighthouse Suites in mid-February. Couldn't have been happier about the room or location. We stayed in the (cheaper) park view room-- perfect for a family with kids (just have to be pretty cautious to keep curtains closed at select times or the whole park will be audience to your goings on). […] The room was big, and the living area very usable. A nice-sized patio looked out over the park. Our only complaint is that our room was not cleaned after our first night, even though we had a "Please service" sign on the door. The Lighthouse is a spectacular place to stay! Location was perfect, right by the beach and a nice lil park. Walking distance to everything that we wanted to see. Lots of wine tasting in every direction. People were friendly and the free breakfast was great! Heated pool for this time of the year was also I plus. 3 piers to walk out on and a great place […] to eat on one! I would and will stay there again. We stopped in a Avila Beach on our way home over Thanksgiving and wished we would have stayed longer. The hotel is right on the super clean, kid-friendly beach plus there is a heated pool. The suites are perfect for families because you have plenty of room, a kitchenette and a door separating the bedroom and sitting area. We can't wait to go back!

I took my husband to Avila Beach to celebrate his birthday. The accomodations were great and so was the weather!!!(mid November) I just wished we could have stayed longer. The local wineries were wonderful. It was nice to be able to purchase a bottle of local wine and bring it to dinner and have not corakage fee! Had a wonderful time. Great accommodations. We'll stay there again.

All rooms are suites, clean and comfortable. My only gripe is there is a lot of traffic noise which spoiled the waterfront location. We had to keep our balcony door shut in order to sleep. The traffic noise was constant on the weekend that we stayed, bad enough to drown out the peaceful sound of surf :-(

This hotel is very pricey considering it is very rundown. All of the furniture is dirty and stained. The coffee table had water marks ingrained into the wood. Our room was called a "park view". What a joke, should have been called a parking lot view. The lot was literally on top of our room. We even heard the car parked outside the patio receiving the […] beep for a text message. We were on a motorcycle roadtrip and decided to break the trip up alittle. We decided to try the Avila Lighthouse Suites, great little beach town, and the hotel is right across the street from the beach. Unfortunately, we arrived around 5pm, so we couldn't enjoy the beach, but we toured the town, grabbed a bottle of wine and something to eat, went back […] to the room, sat on the patio, and enjoyed the view. There was only two of us, so there was plenty of room in the suite. Nice to have a wet bar and refrigerator.... room was very clean, hotel grounds were excellent. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The property and surrounding shops appeared new which fits with the history that we read about the area being "re-built" with oil company settlement money about 10 years ago. The beach was very deep and sand soft. Would make great place for small kids to play. We did not stay long enough to explore the area but […] town appears very small. San Luis obispo short drive away. Visitors should check California temps before planning a beach vacation, however. We had high temp of low 70's and ocean is very cold. Great pier to watch wildlife. We saw pelicans,seals and dolphins during a short walk. Pool is nice and centrally located. Breakfast OK but very basic cereals, muffins, etc. We would recommend this property for a vacation. Devamı

The Avila Lighthouse is a quick walk to the local Nature Center and trolley stop. The pool area opens to the beach less than a minute away, stratgeically located between both piers in the area. Friday afternoon/evening there is a farmer's market in the parking lot and walk way with local vendors hawking varying cuisines, fresh produce & fruit, organic […] honey and other healthy choices. The staff was quite helpful in recommending wine tasting options in the area. Devamı

Very nice beach front hotel. The bed was very comfy, and the pool great. I was a little bit disappointed by the suite, quite small and dark. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay just next to Avila beach.

We had an overall wonderful experience staying here! It was a perfect size suite style room and the hotel atmosphere was perfect for a family with small children. The rooms were nicely decorated in a beach theme. Our only complaints were that the sofa bed was uncomfortable but that is somewhat expected and the hotel currently does not offer room service. […] The pool was great for children and there were some activities such as ping pong, mini golf and giant checkers board for kids (and adults) to play. It is right at the Avila Beach and very close to local shops and restaurants and easy access to the freeway and surrounding areas. We would certainly stay here again in the future!! Devamı

Hotel was lovely, beautifully decorated and furnished. Wonderful views of the ocean. Would definitely return when I am in the area. Nice "little" town area to walk around.

Hotel staff very courteous, made an exception and allowed us to park both of our vehicles in the secure parking area. Very clean rooms, plenty of closet space. Plenty of towels, nice bathrobes, king size bed was comfortable. However, the pull out sofa bed received thumbs down from my adult sons (22 & 19). they did not sleep well the first night, and […] opted to sleep on the floor and the top of the couch rather than pulling the bed out. Probably should have opted for a room with 2 queen size beds, but this was the room I was able to get with the deal. Towel rack in bathroom fell apart but they came and fixed it. The continental breakfast provided a variety of items. Coffee was HOT! and STRONG. Hotel within walking distance of the beach. Wish I had a chance to use the pool and jacuzzi. This is one of our favorite areas to visit. We love this hotel. Very kid friendly and lots of room to spread out. The small town is so much fun and being across from the beach, a park and small aqaurium adds to the fun. Nearby areas are all great. The hotel has some dated features, but overall a great place to stay.

The suites are beautiful and homey. But the walls are too thin and the suites are just back-to-back with each other, felt too closed in. We could hear our neighbors -- even smell them smoking. We stopped at Avila Beach for just one night on our way back home from Southern California. I wish we could have stayed longer. Our suite was very nice, including living area, bathroom, and separate bedroom with a patio facing the pool and the ocean. It was clean, and had a cute beach theme. Too expensive for what you get

I always have a great time while staying here - I love the hotel and the location and the town of Avila. Very relaxing. My son spends tons of time on the grounds - in the pool, hot tub, playing giant chess and on the putting green.

It was the perfect stay. Very pleased with the service and the room. Looking forward to staying again. Only issue is that the hide bed was not very comfortable but that is to be expected.

Booked this place for work, but would definately come back to enjoy the beach at this hotel. Hotel room was beautifully decorated and clean. What a nice place.

We came here with 3 other families with children, and had a great stay. We lucked out with great weather, even in Nov. and the kids were in the pool and hot tub most of the time. They also loved the putting green and giant chess set. The suites were perfect for families, and we could watch tv or read after the kids went to bed. The beautiful beach is […] right across the street, and restaurants and shops within walking distance made it easy with the kids. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and we had a great time. We decided to stay in Avila (close to San Luis Obispo) so we could split up the driving between LA and SF. This beach is about 3 miles (8 min) from 101. A few surprises when we arrived: There are no interior halls, so it looks more like a motel. We booked a fairly expensive room but were initially given a first floor room with a view of a playground--not […] exactly the partial ocean view and "park" view we had envisioned. (I was told, "Well, that's just what you get when you book online--those are the least-expensive first-floor rooms.") We changed rooms, but had to pay for the upgrade, even though the place was not fully booked. Once that was cleared up, though, all was good. We wound up taking a first-floor room with a full ocean view. Great room (or rooms--it was a suite with a balcony). Very clean and new-looking. Very comfortable. Great view. Excellent small beach, which is literally across the street--a quiet street. Cute small strip of restaurants and shops. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub on the property. If I were to stay there again (and I'd be willing to), I'd specify a second-floor room so people walking on the street wouldn't be able to see in so easily. If you can't get an ocean view, a view of the courtyard would be okay too. Devamı

What a great place to stay. The rooms are huge, the staff if great, breakfast was excellent, and the location cannot be beat, only 5 minutes to SLO or Pismo. I would stay here every weekend if I could afford it!

We enjoyed our stay, it was very clean and all personnel were very friendly. Breakfast was good but it could have had other fresh fruits and nuts, plus eggs and meats in hot trays. Overall it was a very good experience! - Pool got kind'a noisy with kids, other than that it was good.

For the price paid, I expected a decent breakfast with a the very least scrambled eggs and possibly bacon. Instead, the breakfast consisted of cold cereal, bread/bagels, and a wafflemaker. I have had better continental breakfasts at places 5x cheaper. Granted the location is perfect, and the rooms are nice, but they still do not have flatscreen televisions. I […] think it would be better to get a room in SLO and take a taxi to Avila Beach. You will save hundreds of dollars a night! Devamı

Excellent family hotel. Close to the beach, great hotel facilities, comfortable rooms. Ideal for a family break.

We got a great price for the central coast from Hotels.com normally this hotel would be overpriced. It is located in beautiful Avila right along the beach. A quiet area normally but an party going on at a nearby golf course was very loud and could be heard in our room. The suite was nice and comfortable but the internet was a little slow and they didn't […] have wireless. The mattresses also needed to be upgraded--they were only average. All in all it was a nice stay but I wouldn't stay there and pay more money! Devamı

Great location. walking distance to some very nice restaurants. The room was very clean and comforable. enjoyed the make your own waffle and nice selection of baked goods for breakfast.

The hotel room was actually much nicer than I expected. However, I found the service to be lacking. We were travelling with our 20 month old son and had requested a port a crib at check in and they told us it would be delivered to our room shortly. I guess everyone's definition of "shortly" is different because it took over 2 hours and another call […] to the front desk to get the port a crib. When it was delivered, the housekeeping guy just kind of slipped it in the door as my husband was closing it. It was still in the bag and we had to set it up ourselves. The next morning, at 10 am as I was getting out of the shower the housekeeper walked into our room to try and clean it. We had not checked out yet and check out time was not till noon. In my experience, hotels typically have some sort of system they use to ensure rooms are vacated before someone tries to come in and clean. OTher than that, the hotel was in a great location and was very nice esthetically so hopefully this was just a comedy of errors. I would give it one more try before writing it off and hopefully get better service. Devamı

Avila Beach is a lovely beach town and the hotel is located in an ideal spot: right on the beach. The suite was very well appointed and comfortable. Our only quibble was that the walls seemed a bit thin and transmitted some noise and conversations of other guests. This was only a minor annoyance for us. We'd definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay at Avila Lighthouse. We have an 11 month old and the rooms were perfect for a small child. Very clean, spacious, and comfortable. We enjoyed walking out to the beach and pier. We plan on going back for longer.
