The George Hotel - Edinburgh

Stayed two nights in two differents rooms. First night was fine despite thin walls. The second room had a very uncomfortable bed. The room is small but clean.

The room was very clean, very comfortable bed. The service from the hotel was 5 star. The location of the hotel was perfect as restaurants and shops were on the door step and princess street was only one street away. The buses stop just outside the hotel but not too close. The Hotel location, made walking around the city and to the castle extremely easy. Only minor bad point if your in the front if the hotel, you can hear people coming out of the clubs and pubs late at night. But the hotel was lovely, clean and extremely welcoming. No parking and be careful parking out the front to unload, traffic wardens are waiting […] for you! Devamı

I can't say enough good things about this hotel and the service. They were attentive to every detail and the concierge staff was excellent. The location was great and very close to some fine restaurants.

Very convenient location to Princes St shops, Waverly Train station, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile and buses to Leith, Holyrood and even the Airport. Service by staff and cleanliness was of a high standard. Only thing I wished was the matress seemed rather used and uncomfortable. Nevertheless, a great choice for anyone to stay at.

Front of house management rude, judgemental and unhelpful and the breakfast is really very average and incredibly expenseve at 16.95 a person. We were told we'd been upgraded to a superior twin but there was nothing superior about it - very narrow beds and small duvet covers - all in all a very dissapointing stay - there are so many really good hotels […] in edinburgh, give this one a miss. The George is a bustling hotel right in the heart of Edinburgh. Great location - you can walk to all the must-see sights, or take a bus almost from the doorstep. But there's no proper lounge area - just a smallish reception lobby. The wine bar attached is very popular, noisy - and pricey - but there are many other bars and restaurants to choose from […] to suit all tastes and pockets. Our double 'standard' bedroom was so small I swear it was a single with a double bed in it, and the bed was very uncomfortable (both rolling into the centre). We changed to a twin (and larger) room, but it was spoilt because we faced the back and had the kitchen smells to contend with if we opened the window. On the plus side, the dining staff in particular were very pleasant and helpful and our room was clean. All in all I would personally go for a hotel a bit further away from the centre, and a bit quieter without so many conferences, weddings and parties! Devamı

Just stayed in Edinburgh for a long weekend, and really enjoyed our stay at The George Hotel. Service was excellent, especially the guys at the concierge desk who were ever so helpful - giving us tips on nice restaurants, car rental, things to see and do. Breakfast was good. Our room was clean and looked nice, but was a bit on the tiny side. Hope for […] a bigger room next time we visit, because I'd love to come back to The George! Devamı

The room was small but very comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering location of the hotel, close to the city centre. Service and surroundings in hotel were excellent and the food was superb. The majority of shops and sights worth visiting are within walking distance of the hotel. Will definitely be visiting again...soon I hope.

An excellent location in the centre of Edinburgh and quite quiet despite Princes Street currently being gutted. Buses stop right outside (including airport expresses) and it's less than 10 mins. walk from Edinburgh Waverley.

this hotel is a brilliant all round place to stay

Our stay at this hotel was overall quite nice, the staff were professional and friendly, and the hotel had very fancy names and labels on everything. It took us a little while to get there from the train station, but we found the room to be a clean and comfortable eco-conscious environment. We skipped breakfast because it was so expensive.

Great staff, comfortable surroundings, excellent breakfast. Would definitely return.

I've been to The George several times, and never been disappointed. This stay was no different - recommended.

Hotel was five minute walk from train station and very central to castle, holyrood palace etc. The only thing missing from the hotel was a pool and spa. Staff very friendly. It was a bit confusing getting to the room no 43 Executive room, simply because of the layout of the hotel but room was very pleasant.

Actually, the hotel looks good from the outside but of the whole stay, the high quality standard expected was only met by the person in charge of luggages who was not only truly nice but also very helpful. Other than that, the stay was quite disappointing as the room was quite basic, the place actually noisy and, although the room for breakfast does […] look good, the service, food, noise were indeed canteen-like. Booked for 3 nights midweek to have a change of scenery. The Hotel was very well appointed with had helpful and SMILING Staff. Porters were available and 12pm checkout was welcome. The food at breakfast was good and the staff quick with tea and toast. The attached restuarant/bar was a bit pricy but comfortable. Overall my stay at The George was worth […] every penny. I would happily stay there again and reccomend it for a starting point to explore the wonders of Edinburgh as it right in the center of the city with easy access to public transport and main rail services. I reccomend visiting the Scottish National Museum and the Castle as a start. If you want to see more... Throw a stone and go where it lands. You wont be dissapointed. Devamı

Really nice hotel, friendly helpful staff. We were greeted with a glass of sparkling wine on arrival. The room felt like it was at the back of beyond, took us a while to find. Also the room was a bit cold as it didn't have double glazing but we were given an extra portable heated radiator so it soon heated up. Apart from that good hotel. Rooms could […] benefit from a mini bar/fridge. So close to bars/restaurants and shopping which was perfect for us. We travelled by train and we only a five min walk from the station so no taxi needed. We would stay again. Devamı

Great hotel in a fantastic location this is the second time I have stayed here. George Street has great places to eat and shop within walking distance. The George hotel is also just a short walk from Waverley train station.

I stayed in this hotel for one night on the forth floor in a single room. The staff was very rude and inexperienced and not willing to help. My tv was broken but they said they could not do anything about it, I should have probably made a fuss but I couldn't be bothered as they seemed so not interested. The room was clean and tidy however no wifi on […] that floor and the people above me kept me up all night, very thin walls. The hotel is stunning and good location but the staff is not worth 4 stars! Devamı

Excellent Hotel good surrounding area.

Wonderful central location, lovely staff, excellent food and a wonderful few days spent in Edinburgh. Would thoroughly recommend it!

The George Hotel lives up to all its great reviews. It is covenient for everything,rooms are spotless.comfortable and room temperature was perfect.

Very nice hotel in a perfect city centre location. Lovely breakfast and great bar. Only downside would be small size of room, but it did have all you needed and was very clean. Staff friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed a fantastic valentines night with my girlfriend at the George Hotel staying in an Executive Double. The hotel is in a fantastic location in a prime spot on George St. It is close to bars, restaurants and shops so there is lots to do nearby in the beautiful City of Edinburgh. The room was very nicely decorated and truly lived up to the 4* title. […] Very clean, welcoming staff and good room service - all in all a very enjoyable stay. Parking is the only concern but we arrived at about 6:30 so there is free street parking directly outside the hotel front from 1830 - 0830. I then fed the meter for the 3 hour max which kept me legal until 1130 which suited us fine. Beware the trafic wardens though - they were waiting at 0829 ready to start printing tickets to those who hadn't bothered to get up and feed the meter. I'm sure there is a longer stay off street parking if you were staying for a longer period but I didn't look myself. Devamı

I was very pleased with the George Hotel. The staff at reception were very welcoming and smiled. My room was clean and comfortable. The only slight negative was the corridors to the rooms are a bit dull and don't live up to the rest of the hotel. The breakfast was reasonable, but I would only book this with the room as part of a package and not pay […] separately, as I don't believe it was worth the price on the menu. Unfortunately the service wasn't up to much; the girl that served me looked very miserable. I asked for a pot of tea, and she brought it without milk, which I thought was a bit strange as most people in the UK have milk with tea. A bit of training on UK culture would help. Devamı

Absolutely beautiful, genuine hotel with a fantastic location! Everything is within walking distance - airport buses, must-sees, shops. And it's always nice to be met by a man in kilt upon arrival =) The one minus was the temperature of the room - I was there in early February and it was freezing, the climate unit didn't help - but the blanket did.
