Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa - Attard

It was very comfortable. The whole hotel shone with cleanliness and outside, the gardens and the pools were beautiful. The service was prompt and given with a gracious smile. The location, next to San Anton Gardens was good and the swimming facilities in the gardens, made up for the hotel's distance from the beach.

Food was awful, staff were 2 star quality We waited for an hour for our meal, in between there was a fire drill finally meal arrived not cooked properly and breakfast was appalling even our milk had to be returned due to being covered in breadcrumbs This is the worse experience I have had with the Corinthia group

This was my fifth stay at his hotel and it is still a favourite, the staff are great, friendly and accommodating. The new General Manager is a recent appointment and was a bit aloof (smiling and interacting with guests not a strength!) and staff seemed rather intimidated when he was around, but I guess he's been appointed to do a job! The rooms and […] environment was a bit better, clearly some maintenance had been done! The quality of the breakfast had improved on last year although the piped 'musac' was awful and at times too loud. The Spa was still very nice, although the latest craze for people exercising by walking up and down the pool was a real drag for anyone wanting to swim and a major part of the pool area was closed off for maintenance. A very relaxing environment. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much bother, and they were always happy to deal with any questions. The food was fabulous. The room was spacious and well equipped, a little cold at first, but we soon found how to regulate the temperature on the air conditioning. The bed was enormous and extremely comfortable.

I highly recommend this hotel, quiet location, lots of space, wonderful breakfast and lovely pool area next to the spa. Excellent value for money and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The bedroom and bathroom were generously sized, and the beds were comfy. There is a useful courtesy bus service to hte busier areas. Our stay was so relaxing.

Gorgeous setting tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. At times we did feel a little isolated however there was a courtesy coach and local buses available. We could only find one restaurant in the immediate area, nevertheless the hotel had a small menu available by the pool side and a lovely chinese restaurant downstairs […] which was delicious. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels before. There is nothing about this one that would make me rush back but our stay there was fine. The hotel itself - bedrooms etc are in good condition but the staff did not provide the sort of service that I associate with a 5 star hotel. The quality of the food was also a bit hit and miss. While taking a shower, […] the water temperature changed continually from hot to cold to back again, also water pressure was not very high - adequate but not great - I enjoy a much better shower at home. Generally the crockery was clean but there was lipstick on a cup at breakfast. Generally breakfast was fine - but on one day, a tinned peach tasted a bit fermented. Omelettes were cooked to order - these were great. The other parts of the cooked breakfast looked sad. Strawberry icecream tasted like Nesquik. Tiramisu tasted a bit strange. Chocolate brownie did not taste like a chocolate brownie - but it did taste quite nice. I ordered cheesecake from room service and received something that looked and tasted like a mint-chocolate mouse....strange really. On arrival, they also tried to charge me an extra 86.40 Euros per night accommodation charge - I explained that I had already paid for this - they claimed that this was a mistake but when it came to check out time it was still on the bill. They said that we could use the pool at their sister hotel but when we got there the Towel Monitor said that we were supposed to have brought our own towels and grudgingly Devamı

Very impressed with the hotel. The staff were most helpful, especially Martin. The pool area was clean and very relaxing. The room was very tidy and comfortable. Our view from the balcony was out the front and very impressive as we could see over out to the distance. The hotel does arrange a mini bus which can bring you to Valletta which is only about 15 minutes away. If you go at the start of August, keep an eyeout for a local Festa at a nearby church about 15 minutes walk from the hotel and over the other side of the San Anton Gardens. We booked for a short break ( 4 nights) and upon arriving our teen son had a quite small bed (considering his height), much lower than us and not as comfortable. The room wasn't as clean as it should had been and certainly not as spacious as a 5 star hotel, but is had a nice balcony. We read about staying in rooms facing the swimming pool and that was […] very pleasant and very quiet as well as beautiful. The hotel staff are very friendly and welcoming and at all times they engaged with our son (better than other 5 star hotels that tend to ignore him). The area is very quiet and far from the beach ,but the hotel offer free minibus to different areas . There are time restrictions though. The Orange Bistro offer delicious lunch buffet and room service was amazing.We loved it so much we had room service all the time! The Corinthia Restaurant was lovely and the food very generous as well as tasty. We didn't use the spa, but the pool outside although cold was very pleasant as it is so sunny. The poll chairs were comfortable and if felt secluded.it was hard to remove our son from the pool !!! We will return again. The Gardens of the Hotel were lovely. The Hotel is in a peaceful setting. The Cleaning staff do an excellent job and were very friendly. The Breakfast was superb. The swimming pool is is great need of upgrading. Sharp bolts stick up behind one of the 'in pool' seating areas. The tile edges on some of the steps in the pool were very rough edged. Great hotel in good location as we had hired a car to tour round the island. Only downside was wifi connection was costly should have been free. Luckily there were many free wifi spots around elsewhere around Malta.

If have visited this hotel over the last 15 years, and staff used to be unfriendly, but it changed to be friendly. After a storm the water supply broke down, and the toilet in the room could not be used. I had to contact reception several times to find out what had happened. The guy at the reception desk was not to sure what to do with an unhappy […] guest, and bluntly told me that it was my tough luck. So I had to talk to the duty manager, who was also very resistant. After explaining to him that it was a 5 star hotels, and I expected a 5 start treatment, he looked somehow puzzled,..... IN the evening I found a bottle of wine with a letter of apology. Well done! 5 start treatment. Mattresses are in a dire state, and cannot be compared to the £400 IKEA option. They are not 5 star. I recommend the Marriott -Hotel mattresses. Staff are very friendly! I stayed here for 7 nights and thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. The staff in particular were very helpful. I was given a room overlooking the garden restaurant at the rear, which at this time of year (March and very sunny) was quiet, with a great balcony and nice views. The room was spacious - the bathroom a little small but this did not bother me - the […] most important thing was that the bath was big enough (some hotels have very small baths, I guess to save water) and all the fittings and fixtures were good quality. The hotel had a nice feel, and the outside areas were very pleasant. My mattress looked a bit saggy in the middle, but I slept well enough, and all other furniture in the room had a nice feeling of solidity. I did not use the spa facilities shall not comment. Room service meals came very quickly. Food great. Breakfast buffet splendid - choose from just about any kind of breakfast imaginable. I liked the location of the hotel - the local streets are beautiful and very historic - I spent one day just walking around the hotel area - there is history in every nook and cranny around here. The other great thing is that it was easy from this central location on the island to reach anywhere pretty fast. I hired a bicycle, and could reach Valletta in 20 easy minutes. I noticed that one corridor on my floor was closed off and found that all those rooms were being upgraded, section-by-section, which seemed pretty smart - improving things whilst the hotel is quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were incredibly helpful. From the bellboy to the waiters, everyone was there to help. Only meal we ate at the hotel was breakfast, but the options were vast. Anything and everything. Free parking just across the road, seemed to have plenty of space, but then again it was January. Only downside was the […] wifi access was very expensive, €4 for 1 hour, or €30 for 24. In this day and age it should be free. I didn't use it, I stuck to using other open wifi points I had found on the island. The Zmerc pub round the corner is great. The hotel is comfortable and provides good value for money. The staff are helpful and friendly. Downsides were (1) Breakfast is a bit pricey at 15 euros pp. (2) Bed wasn't particularly comfortable (it dipped on one side). Will go there again, but ask for a different bed!

i would have expected the receptionist to tell me where the indoor pool was, where the spa was, where the gym was, where the breakfast room was etc; etc. The room i got was a fantastic one, clean and well kept but unfortunately i could smell cigarettes. Overall it was a nice ecperience the only problem was that pool hours for kids are betwern 8 am and 10.30 am. We were not informed before booking this hotel about this inconvenience. My kids were excited to use the indoor pool and we were only told about the hours when we went to use the pool. Old Fashioned quality Hotel, we stayed for 6 days in September 2011 Peaceful location in centre of Island 10 Minutes drive from Coast, 5 Minutes drive from Rabat which is well worth a visit. Car is very useful due to location although the Hotel runs a Mini Bus into town and back which is free. Mostly couples type hotel due to distance from Night Life, […] also worth visiting the small number of local restaurants just out of the front gates of the hotel turn left 50 Metres, they are deceptively large so do go inside and have a Pizza/Pasta, coffee or Pastry. Hotel outdoor restaurant serves good Pizza and Pasta also with reasonable prices. Staff through out hotel excellent and if you can book a suite as we did they are huge with a separate living room with 42" LCD Tvs Sofa and a couple of chairs along with a dining table and chairs, great to have the extra space although the standard rooms are still good size and immaculately clean. Tried the in house Chinese Restaurant and it was OK but needs more experienced staff to get the best from it. Overall 9 out of 10 We liked it and hope to return for Christmas 2011 Devamı

This hotel is situated in a quiet spot in lovely grounds and opposite a beautiful public park, actually called ‘garden’, where you can find some shade during the summer heat. The hotel is situated some distance away from where most of the tourists in Malta tend to go, thus not by the sea, but all the attractions and cultural heritage sites on Malta […] are easily reached by car. There are all the usual things on offer if you are interested in a spa, outdoor swimming pool, hairdresser‘s salon and several restaurants. The hotel offers a wonderful breakfast buffet which would make lunch unnecessary for some. Unfortunately there was no organisation in the dining room in the evening. We booked in advancefor our first evening there, when we entered the dinig room we were left waiting 15 mins before being shown to a table, it had been made up of 2 small tables as there were 4 of us but we were all to sit in a row. This was not acceptable so WE removed 1 of […] the tables and sat 4 around a small one. We waited another 10 mins for menus, they brought 3, we asked for a forth only to discover 2 were in Italian. My husband ordered the 4 course set menu and they forgot to bring his second course, when we pointed this out as his third course arrived it took another 5 mins or so before the head waiter arrived to ask if he still wanted it. My husband eventually ended up eating his third course when we had all finished. This is totally unacceptable. We made our point and eat elsewhere for the rest of the holiday. Devamı

We felt that this hotel was very suitable for anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxed holiday, especially if being near a busy and popular seaside area is unimportant. We prefered it to the sister hotel in St George's Bay which, although newer, seemed more suitable for younger clients and families looking for a seaside holiday with nearby shops […] and clubs and endless sun-bathing space on the hotel terraces. The Corinthia Palace's spa facilities were very good, as was the oudoor pool area with its attractive gardens and trees offering plenty of shade if one needed to cool off a little. The service by the staff was always polite and efficient, both in the hotel restaurants and by the poolside, although the prices of drinks and snacks there did seem quite high. Our room was clean and well serviced, with good quality bed linen changed every day if you wanted. There are some good restaurants nearby, and the excellent San Anton Gardens are just across the road from the hotel. The main complaint we have was that there was no free wi-fi anywhere in the hotel, as one would expect in a 5* hotel (it was provided in their partner hotel in St Georges!), yet Valletta has several coffee shops and bars that do give free wi-fi . The hotel is also on the corner of a busy road junction, so there is some traffic noise most of the time. However, this was a most pleasant spot for a week's relaxing break and we would certainly consider staying there again. Devamı

The words ' Grand old Hotel' spring to mind. It is a lovely hotel and the staff are very welcoming. The exterior of the hotel could do with a facelift even if only a power wash and lick of paint to give it a bit of a freshen up. This hotel was in a beautiful - and quiet - location. The facilities were excellent and the restaurant prices reasonable. The staff were really friendly and helped us plan our days out. We made full use of the Hotel's courtesy bus services - especially to Valletta - but the public bus services were mostly fine and we made our way around the Island fairly […] well. I booked the wrong hotel, so this was my fault. While this is a very nice hotel with very nice amenities, it's a 20 euro ride to the "hub" with all of the restaurants, beach, etc. Other than the restaurants in the hotel, there's not much in the surrounding area, which is a bummer. Go for the Corinthia at St. George - I've learned my lesson!

We booked at the Corinthian Palace Hotel and Spa due to a half-off deal through Expedia, so our expectations were not very high from the start. The hotel is a converted villa from the 1800's, so it has character and charm lacking in many newer, more modern hotels. That being said, the hotel has definitely seen better days. The elevators, rooms/bathrooms […] and general accommodations could use an upgrade to truly bring them up to 5 star status (or a nice 4 star). The concierge was not helpful at all, providing erroneous information on multiple occasions, sending my wife and I off on wild-goose chases following his poor directions. The advertised WiFi access is slow as molasses and could be compared to dial-up access; further worsening the matter is the fact that you have to pay 4 Euro for an hour or 6 Euro for 3 hours. The location is away from restaurants/cafes/bars, you really need to take one of the buses or the "courtesy" shuttle in order to enjoy anything outside of this worn hotel. On the positive side, the Breakfast was good if not quite as lavish as the one offered at Le Meridian or at the Westin Dragonara, both of which I would recommend over the Corinthian, even if it meant paying 20-50 Euro more per day. Fantastic hotel with true 5* service. Someone on hand 24/7 to help with anything at all, and the rooms were fantastically comfy and clean. Only drawback was that aside from the San Anton Gardens across the road, there isnt much in the vicinity of the hotel. The hotel is quite expensive for Food and Drink, which is to be expected for a luxury hotel, but Medina Gardens restaurant across the road was very reasonable. A very well run hotel, with excellent and helpful staff. We had a minor problem with a delay in room cleaning on a public holiday, but once we mentioned the oversight the system rushed into action. Apart from this, the service, the spa, the restaurants and the cleanliness were all superb; we have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

Old hotel, well maintained. The concierge was excellent! With his help, I was able to get last minute tickets to visit hypogeum (which would have otherwise been impossible) and his recommendations for local seafood restaurants were great! I dined at 2 of the hotel restaurants, both provided great food and good service. I chose this hotel primarily because […] of the fitness center, and was disappointed for 2 reasons. There were 5 stationary bicycles for cardio exercise, as shown in photos on the hotel's web site. All 5 had some problem -- on 3 the electronics didn't control resistance (resistance stayed at minimum) so you couldn't get a good workout, on one the resistance was stuck at maximum, and on the one with operating resistance programming, the heart rate monitor didn't work. There is a hot tub and a sauna, but the temperature on both is set far too low. I asked to get my room cleaned early each day, but it was never cleaned before late afternoon. Devamı

We stayed for four nights in Feb, paying half price with their winter deal. It's probably 4 star rather than 5, but a very nice place to stay and great value for the price we paid. * The hotel is in a nice quiet area, but there are still a few bars, cafes & restaurants. Remember, Malta is tiny, so you are never going to be far from other places you […] want to visit! * The reception staff and concierge were excellent - very friendly & helpful. * Hotel manager had a visible presence, which was nice to see. * Good quality breakfasts, with plenty of things to choose from. Breakfast staff were a bit grumpy tho! * Included in our stay were: complimentary mini bar, plus a free massage. There does seem to be confusion about the mini bar, despite being clearly stated on their own website... and you do have to ask for these included extras, so don't be shy! * The only restaurant we ate in was the Rickshaw. To be honest, the food really wasn't any better than some takeaways we get at home! * The outdoor pool & pizza restaurant were closed for winter, but looked very nice. * Spa facilities were decent. Slightly annoying being charged €6.41 to hire tennis rackets & balls in a 5 star hotel! * Complimentary shuttle bus to Sliema & St Julian was very handy. Although it wasnt in the centre of the tourist attractions it is really easy to get about using the local transport & the hotel shuttle service. The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful, particularly the concierge Martin. I would definitley consider staying here again on my next trip to Malta.
