Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego - Del Mar - San Diego

A relaxed athmosphere, with a great breakfast. No overcharge surprises. Immediate replacement of a desk lamp by maintenance when called. A short walk to the Garden Inn, next door, provided an outstanding restaurant and happy hour. I would stay there again.

NEIGHBORHOOD The Homewood Suite is located right off of I-5 and is in a quiet neighborhood in Del Mar. I went to Southern California for a vacation to visit the theme parks and such, and stayed at a hotel near a freeway and at a reasonable distance from the popular theme parks. There was a storm that recently hit the area and the South I-5 ramp was […] closed for a few days due to flooding which was a slight inconvenience, but the detour was not far. HOTEL & STAFF The hotel staff were extremely courteous and nice. I had asked to exchange my first room because it was in front of the Guest Laundry room, and I was switched to another room without any further questions or problems. Speaking of the laundry room, it costs a dollar (in quarters) for the washer and an additional dollar for the dryer. You will need to provide your own soap and fabric softener. The complementary breakfast was satisfactory for it's purpose and contain the typical scramble eggs, cereal, bread, and self-serve waffle menu. My clothes smelled like vegetable oil after in the dinner lobby. There is plenty of parking, decently spaced, and is free. ROOM The room was cozy and clean. The towels, pillows, and bed sheet had no strange stains or smell and appeared washed and clean. I had no problems with the AC/Heater. The TV had some local channels: ESPN, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon, news. There's free Wi-Fi and web access which was nice for when I was looking up restaurants near the hotel. The kitchen area was nice for me to cook a late night snack or reheat left overs, and the refrigerator was a decent size to allow me to put in grocery food and drinks. Devamı

nice hotel for checking into after a full day, rooms were clean and the staff freindly, breakfast was good in the morning, but no evening service / food / drink etc. CP

We were very pleased with the hotel; it was quiet, warm, and cozy. Hotel employees were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Our room dining area was a bit small but we managed. Our children really enjoyed the spacious bedroom. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. The service was great. The people were friendly and helpful. It was in a very nice area of San Diego. The breakfast was nice. They served a breakfast buffet everyday. It was nice to not just have cereal or a bagel. The dinner during the week was nice as well. We loved the full fridge and kitchen. We throughly enjoyed our stay . We loved the roominess of the suite, the confortable bed, and the overall ombiance of the hotel. We plan to return several times a year at least.

A bit difficult to find, but in a nice neighborhood and convenient to freeway. Good breakfast in the morning. Would come again.

Great for the price. My only issue was the sofa bed! The sofa was literally sunken-in in the middle as the springs to the bed were missing. We sat real close while watching TV. The sofa bed was NOT comfortable as the bed was broken, leaning and sunken-in on one side creating an uncomfortable night of sleep. Not a good night of sleep after an 8 hr drive […] from the Bay Area. It was too late in the night to report; however, when reported the next day, the staff was very helpful and tried to fix. The staff asked if we wanted to move to another room - but we had already unpacked and added our items to the refridgerator so it was an inconvenience to pack up & move the three of us to another room after a long day at UCSD, family weekend. So two nights of little to no sleep on the sofa bed. By the thrid night the staff replaced the unfixable sofa bed and I finally had a good night sleep before the 8 hour drive back to the bay area. I will be spending a lot of time in the area for the next four years - I have no problem staying again IF the price is reasonable. Devamı

The rate I got with this hotel was very low for how nice the hotel was. It was in a convenient location, and was close to the freeway, making it easy to get from place to place. I had had two boxes sent to the hotel previous to my arrival, and they were waiting for me in my room. The room was clean, the bathroom was very nice, with an incredibly spacious […] shower. I slept on the couch bed, which was incredibly uncomfortable (but what else do you expect with a couch bed?) I was told that the regular bed was comfortable and quite soft. The staff was friendly, the kitchen in our room was well stocked and very nice. There was a microwave, a two burner stove, a near-full size fridge, and even a dishwasher. We were provided with all of the necessary kitchen accessories (plates, bowls, etc.) The free breakfasts in the morning were awesome!! This hotel is OUTSTANDING! Absolutely PERFECT! We knew there was no way to avoid 'road trips' so we went for easy highway access. FANTASTIC location. High end neighborhood. Our suite was over and above everything we hoped for (we brought our granddaughter... first plane ride!) When we weren't in the ocean, she was in the hotel pool. Unbelievable free […] hot breakfast every morning, free wine and dinner Monday through Thursday. Great hotel for kids and the rooms were quiet, quiet, quiet. Staff was VERY friendly, helpful, accommodating and flexible. We're planning a big trip next year with the entire family. Will definately be staying there again. Devamı

Fantastic stay. Benefits is that bedroom and lounge separate for family. Cooking facilities in room. Very clean. Staff very helpful. Benefits - complimentary breakfast, pool, fitness centre, computer access (as couldn't take own computer). Great experience. Extremely helpful staff. I echo other positive comments. This place is fantastic -- for what it is. It is not a Four Seasons or Ritz-Carlton. It IS an extremely well-run, comfortable, pleasant, clean and enjoyable place to stay, especially with a family (we were two adults and two kids, 5 and 7). Our trip combined theme parks and a […] conference downtown. The hotel was well situated for all of our activities -- a manageable drive to all of our destinations, and also close enough to the beach areas of Del Mar and La Jolla to make those readily accessible. Breakfasts were good; evening snacks/meals were fine for a traveling family looking for something decent and easy, but not a restaurant experience. Of course, it wasn't intended to be, and it was just right for what we needed on two evenings -- something convenient, easy, and kid-friendly after a long day with children who couldn't make it through a restaurant meal. The deli next door is good and convenient for sandwiches to go. Parking is easy and plentiful. The pool is small, but still a nice respite and more than sufficient for the kids. If I were traveling exclusively on business, and for a couple of days, I'd likely stay elsewhere. But if I were returning to San Diego to do theme parks, beach, and some downtown activities (zoo, Padres, USS Midway), this is the first place I'd try to reserve. One tiny complaint: fold-out sofa and rollaway mattreses are AWFUL. Note to owner: replace these, please. Devamı

Our stay at the Homewood Suites by Hilton was overall good. There was no wi-fi, only wired internet, which was very slow. The pullout bed wasn't very comfortable and had no support, and the pillows were not very firm. The breakfast was very limited. They do have a good dinner service though. The hotel was about a mile away from the closest supermarket, […] and about 50 feet from the nearest restaurant, although it wasn't very good. The staff was extremely nice. The housekeeper put a personal touch to her cleaning, and the front desk and dining staff were also very nice. I would recommend this hotel. If you have never been to SoCal, be careful getting on the freeway also, as the lanes do merge quite quickly. They also have lights on the ramps during peak hours. Devamı

We stayed at another location earlier in the year by Homewood Suites so our expectations were high as our stay there was awesome. But at this location, the breakfast was just okay, not as wide of a selection of food, pretty common variety. The bed was not very comfortable and left us sore in the morning. I was looking forward to taking a relaxing bath […] but was given a room with only a walk-in shower so that was disappointing. The tv only had a very limited number of channels so for the four days we were there, we were not able to watch what we were really interested in. The kitchen facility in the room was nice so we were able to enjoy our own food. Overall, I have stayed at much nicer hotels and would probably not choose this one again. Devamı

We were pleasantly surprised about our accommodations. The suite was nice but the complimentary full breakfast and the evening meal with wine were an extra bonus. The meals provide great savings for a family. Hotel was convenient to San Diego, La Jolla, and Del Mar via I-5.

newer hotel, room was huge, modern and clean. Rates include a free breakfast and dinner (I didn't partake, so I don't know the quality, but everyone in the dining room seemed to be enjoying it) This hotel doesn't have a bar & grill, but it is conveniently located right next door to one.

I really like that they provide breakfast and dinner, also everyone is so nice, I had a small problem with my room and they fixed it right away, very nice staff and good for families also.

I can't say enough good things about this place. Excellent staff, comfortable rooms, great breakfast and free parking. We would definitely stay here again. Good place for families.

great location, comfortable for a family traveling, wish they would just be a little cleaner

The hotel suite was outstanding. There was ample space. The kitchenette (besides being small) was very functional. You had a real stove (not a hot plate), good sized microwave and full size refridgerator / freezer. To my surprise, you actually had usable cookware and utensils. The desk was more than adequate to do any work (I had 2 laptops with external […] keyboards and mice - had plenty of space for both) and the sitting area was spacious (I had enough space to swing my golf clubs). The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant next door was excellent (great food and very reasonable prices). The complimentary breakfast was basic but very good. The only downside is that you're in a corporate center. So nights and weekends, you don't have any place (outside the restaurants in the next building) to go to. You'll need to drive every place else. The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. I'll definitely stay there again. Devamı

Homewood Suites' suites with the bedroom door are "the best" for families with young children. The parents can have a conversation in one room while the kids are in bed for the night or a nap. At this location, the usual Homewood amenities, except that the beds seem better than we remembered. The beds and pillows seemed new and were every bit as good […] as the vaunted "heavenly" beds at the Westin hotels. The location is a little far (20 minutes) from most San Diego attractions, but if you can get a price break than at closer locations, it's worth the drive. The free BBQ on Thursday was so-so at best, but it was free. The breakfasts do get old after a couple days. Devamı

Great stay. My husband is super picky, and we have 3 kids, and everyone was happy. Great breakfast and great dinner reception. Great location for getting around San Diego area. Very nice and helpful staff. We recommend it!

When we booked our hotel we were looking for a suite and close to the attractions we were planning to go to. We found this one and were worried that it was too far from Sea World and the Zoo. The location was great. The hotel was located in a very nice location and we felt safe returning late at night and always had a parking spot available. We had […] no problems at all with driving from the hotel to the attractions and local San Diego points of interest. While driving it appeared the heavy traffic was always going in the opposite direction and we drove several times during rush hour. The staff at the hotel were extremely nice, the rooms were comfortable and clean. When we booked the hotel we didnt know there was a breakfast and dinner included...WOW, they had good food and impressed us. Myself and those with me on this trip all kept saying, "This is a great place and we will be back to stay here if we are in the San Diego area again!" After first night when we come back from a long day at Zoo, we found out they change our luggage without telling us. That was very surprising. And they moved us nearby Garden Inn. We booked this hotel to comfort and breakfast.

The only complaint I have was there was a little mold in the shower which looked a little gross. However everything else was fantastic!!!

Our family of five stayed just one night. Our room was clean, quiet and we all got a very restful night's sleep. We were just passing through, but I wished we could have stayed longer...

WE liked it so much we found the president of the hotel to thank him.

We liked it here and found it to be a good value for the price.

This is hands down a family hotel. Great room. The breakfast and dinners were the best. I highly recommend staying during weekdays (Mon-Thurs) for many reasons. (1) Dinner is included along with breakfast Mon to Thur (2) The attractions are not so busy (3) hotel is not so busy - we stayed Wed to Sat and noticed a big diff (4)cheaper prices
