Hotel reception was very helpful, the rooms were clean and in good condition. the bathroom was very small but served its purpose and its is definately better than having to share a bathroom! very convenient location in the middle of the old town! breakfasts were top notch with a very well stocked buffet for hot and cold options - will definately recommend […] this one! I chose this hotel for its convenient location and wasn't disappointed. The service and food at breakfast were excellent. However, reception was not staffed when I went to check out and is behind a locked door so no way of leaving my key.The rooms are quite obviously student hall-type accomodation; bare and cramped (although clean). The wetroom en-suite […] was tiny which actually made showering difficult and sprayed water all over the toilet and towels no matter what you did. My room also backed onto a service yard so lorries were being loaded from 8 a.m. - luckily I didn't go for the lie-in. If you are after a cheap bed on which to lie your head and a good breatkfast this place is for you, if you like just a little comfort I would look elsewhere. Devamı

Pros: 5 min walk from the old town, really great breakfast. However it's literrally a student accomodation in a dormitory. Beds are very old and not really comfortable, furniture was used in 1972... In conclusion, not really a hotel, not really a family B and B but a very basic central place to sleep.

Very close to city centre attractions, little restaurants and shops. Fantastic breakfast

I arrived early morning thinking that I could leave my suitcase at the reception but the very friendly receptionist let me into the room, what a surprise. The breakfast is also very good, I'm vegetarian and they cook veggie breakfast for me. Thank you, will be back

These rooms are converted Halls of Residence linked to the University so are basic but serve the exact purpose they are intended for. I stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. Clean, friendly and affordable with an excellent breakfast. Within walking distance of all I needed.

we sayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it, there was a few construction works going on but we didnt here it were we were. the room was fab apart from the shower and the breakfast was lovely

We spent two nights 12th and 13th September 2011 at the Kenneth Mackenzie suite and found the hotel conveniently situated within walking distance from most sights we wanted to visit. Very good value for money, The hotel appears to be a former student residency but the rooms are much better than a b&b. Very comfortable with easy access to the historic centre. Good Scottish breakfast. I will definately be visiting this hotel again.

The room was on the small side and the bathroom tiny: it had a "wet bathroom", ie: an ineffective shower curtain and the whole bathroom got wet when the water was on! Otherwise the price was decent; it was in a convenient location and the breakfast was awesome: so many choices! We are planning to stay there again...

The Kenneth Mackenzie suites in Edinburgh are great for a short-stay in the city. Within walking distance of the city centre, they are clean and comfortable with very friendly, helpful staff and the breakfast really sets you up for the day. I can thoroughly recommend them.

I booked a stay at this place assuming that it was an hotel, not student accommodation! On my arrival I had to book in at the university reception with a very unhelpful person who obviously felt that it wasn't his place to make guests feel welcome. Car parking is a problem, £2.00 per hour for a maximum stay of 4 hours even at weekends! There is no lift […] to the student room that you stay in, very little cleaning, the same crumbs were on the carpet in my room throughout my stay. There were very few television stations available due to poor reception. Door slamming from other guests continued throughout the night which was met by the noise from the supermarket deliveries which started at 7am. Served it's purpose, Sparse but functional. Only drawback is the voucher system for the phone and internet connection. Time to get in the 21st century.

Room smelled muffy. Lost an earring on the floor, bent down to search for it, found someone's pantys under the bed, makes one wonder when was the last time the room was "actually" cleaned as there were other things under that bed as well. Bathroom was smaller than ones I've had on cruises & they were plenty small. The only good thing to state was the […] gentleman working the desk when we checked in, was very helpful, very friendly as was the breakfast served and the servers - they too were fast & friendly. Location of hotel is in a scary part of Edinburgh but not that far from the Tattoo - even the taxi driver had problems finding the place. There was no elevator for the rooms though there were some for the suites/apartments. Everything was in different buildings. Great value and location. Would certainly be using the Kenneth Mackennzie suit again on my Edinburgh travels as rooms were very clean, good breakfast and comfy bed .

I stayed in a single room at Kenneth Mackenzie Suite for 3 nights in June 2011. This "hotel" is in fact part of the accomodation of the University of Edinburgh. I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast (cooked food on order and cold buffet, served 7:30-10am). I also enjoyed the price I paid since it was very inexpensive compared to the other city […] center hotels in Edinburgh. Most importantly, I enjoyed the location, which is a 5-8 minutes walk from the center of the Royal Mile (the main street in Old Edinburgh), the bus & train stations (located in the heart of the New Edinburgh), and lots of attractions. You can also easily find a bus nearby that will transport you to the airport or in the port of Leith. The only bad thing is the cleanliness of the room. Since the shower has no base and the water only drops in a hole in the bathroom floor, the carpet of my room was all wet when I came in on the first day and it stayed wet for the duration of my stay. It was flooded and stinky. Howerver, the bed was clean and for me that's what matters the most. Overall, I might consider to stay there again when I'll be back in Edinburgh. Devamı

The room and bathroom were pretty small. Expecially the bathroom. The sink was super tiny. No tub, shower was only a small area with a curtain divided from the toilet and sink. Every time you took a shower, the whold floor was soaking wet. Only good thing there were the breakfast (included), a lot of variety.

Spent one night at the Kenneth Mackenzie Suites. The room was good value, clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic, in a great area being only five minutes walk to the city centre. great price, great location and really friendly service. However, little things like no bedside lamp were annoying. Heater was on and I couldn't fathom how to turn it off so was dehydrated by the end of the fairly sleepless night. Was woken early by other guests making noise in the corridor and a delivery (on a Sunday morning!). The worst shower I've […] ever had. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and small but not a match box. If you're on a budget like I was it's ok, but you wouldn't want to stay long. Devamı

The Kenneth Mackenzie Suite was fantastic. The food is great with lots of choice and far better than you would expect to get in even a 4 star hotel! The room and bathroom like most people say is small but both were very clean. The staff were really friendly to. Very close to the centre of Edinburgh which was why we chose it. This hotel room is quite small-more like a dormitory. But then, it was a dormitory back in the days. The bed is twin-sized and too soft for my tastes, but then I like harder mattresses. The restroom is VERY small. From the door to the restroom, if you look right, there's the sink, then immediately to its left is the toilet and immediately to its left […] is the shower with a curtain to block water from hitting the toilet or the RR door. BUt, it is a clean room. HOWEVER, If you are in beautiful Edinburgh then you should not be sleeping much nor needing the BR too much. You should be out seeing the sites, smelling the fresh air, and taking in the Highlands or something with a tour group. The hotel is well situated a block from the busier street but far enough that there's not a lot of noise. It is still close enough to everything like Royal Mile where the shopping is, and the food nearby is just as good as if you go down to Princess street to eat. Devamı

Overall exceeded expectations. It is basic budget hotel but clean and well maintained. For the city centre (5 minutes from rail station) its a very reasonable price. Breakfast also very good. If you are looking for somewhere thats value for money to get your head down then its great.

I found this place to suit my purpose. Within walking distance from Waverley station from where one can get direct bus to the airport. Good breakfast. Room is basic and tiny but satisfactory. In summary, good place for one-two nights stay while on business.

I come to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival every year but this was my first stay at the Kenneth MacKenzie Suite. The location is PERFECT - five minutes walk between each of the Pleasance Courtyard and Bristo Square. The facilities are clean and functional (although I am glad I read somewhere that I needed to bring a hair dryer as that would have been a […] bit of a hassle had I not!). The breakfast (all inclusive) was exceptionally good value - lovely wide selection of hot and cold food. It could not have been better and I am definitely going to book in next year. Devamı

Hotel rooms are small but confortable and clean. Bathroom is extremely small, but functional. Security at the hotel is fairly good. Breakfast is much better than expected. The hotel was ideally located near the city centre within walking distance of the train station. The room was simple but reasonable quality. Shame there was no air-conidtioning but its probably rarely necessary in Scotland! All in all very good value for money.

Perfect for the solo traveller - for one or two nights stay. Located near the heart of Aberdeen - it's just a quick walk to Old Town and not that much further to New Town. Safe, basic accommodations - though be prepared to feel like a student again. The major upside is the price and the breakfast is amazing!!

The only real negative about this hotel (graduate student residence) is the size of the bathroom. It is modern, clean, even cute. But it is made for hobbits or lillaputians (Gulliver's Travels) There is really no shower. There is a somewhat recessed hole in the floor with a shower curtain surrounding it. I couldn't adjust the direction of the water […] flow so I found myself with uncontrolable water in this tiny space - a large inflexible person might have difficulty. Other than this, I was quite impressed with the location, price, cleanliness, comfort of the room, friendliness of the staff and most of all the breakfast. The breakfast was of the highest quality. Being an ex-student halls, this is not luxury accomodation, but it does represent very good value in what is an extremely expensive city. Despite being right in the town centre, its side street location makes it quiet at night and the room was warm, comfortable and functional. I wasn't impressed with this hotel, based on the price we paid - it reminded me of my dorm room 15 years ago, but with a private, tiny bathroom, in which you can literally sit on the toilet seat while taking a shower. The hot water was unpredictable - there didn't seem to be any way to accurately control the temperature. Well located for all the main fringe venues. Ex hall of residence but now functions as a budget hotel in a quiet street. Rooms at back overlook car park, view from front rooms better and get morning sun. On four floors, no lift so ask for first floor (no ground floorrooms) if you cant do stairs. The hotel is well positioned, about a 10 or 15 stroll to the centre. The hotel itself is very basic but provides an excellent breakfast with an extensive choice of full cooked breakfast and / or cereals, croissants, tea, coffee, juice etc. Extremely good. The room was clean and functional with en suite bathroom, tv, tea / coffee making facilities. The […] hotel was really quiet too, but perhaps we were lucky. The bed though was pretty uncomfortable and the mattress definitely needs changing. The springs were digging into my back all night so that was a negative point. The bathroom needs ungrading too. The shower floor was more reminiscent of dodgy football changing rooms, all discoloured and grubby looking. My girlfriend was none too impressed with that!! There didn't appear to be a lift either and as we were on the 4th floor that could have caused problems for the less mobile. They place definitely reminds me of a college dorm but if all you need is a place to sleep (like me) then it works great. Within walking distance of the Royal Mile and lots of pubs and restaurants. The included breakfast is pretty good too.

A delightful discovery. A very comfortable room and very pleasant and helpful staff made for a memorable stuff. Another plus was the hearty breakfast. 5 out of 5!

Frukosten var super, rummet trångt, men vi skulle ju bara sova.

Prima hotel dat gunstig gelegen is in de oude stad. Bijzonder is dat het ontbijt bij de prijs is inbegrepen.Dit ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid. Onze kamer lag op de 4e verdieping maar helaas was er geen lift! Ook de douche/toiletruimte was wat aan de krappe kant. Verder niets dan lof.
