Canary, a Kimpton Hotel - Santa Barbara

Awesome would definitely go back.

Second time staying at this hotel. Gorgeous room. Great recommendations from the front desk. Only thing is that the pool/roof top area is such a selling point of the hotel, and this was the second time there was a wedding that closed off half of it to hotel guests. Moreover, it is a relatively small space and it ends up feeling as though you are intruding […] on the wedding. It is uncomfortable, and that is really disappointing when you are paying a lot of money to use the facilities at the hotel. For the traveller looking for something special in their journey, then a stay at the Canary is a must. The hotel is now part of the Kempton Hotel Group. I had the pleasure to stay at a Kempton Hotel once before and the experience told me that I had stumbled onto something special. That said, it is clear that the Kempton family has worked their magic […] on the Canary, that in my view, sings a sweet song of Hospitality and comfort. The hotel fits well into the stylings of the Santa Barbara area, but with an elegance that allows it to standout from its surroundings. You will feel welcome from the moment you pull in to the valet. The furnishings have a sense of grandness without being over stated. When you enter the lobby, the layout and flow of the floor plan is easy to process and welcomes and relaxes even the most distracted visitor. The accomidations are top drawer (the best). All the amenities one would ever need to make their stay a special event are present and ready to be used. Let me add, that if you find anything lacking, don't grumble or pout over it, just ask any member of the Canaries staff for assistance, you won't be disappointed. They will jump to resolve you dilemma. The rooms are well attired with beds that offer the comfort you desirve after a long journey. The bathrooms are nicely done, clean, and in top condition. My room had a large bath and a separate shower with a rainshower style head. The tile was beautiful, the towels full and soft, and a flat screen television has been provide that can be viewed from all angles in the bathroom. Just a note, when booking, ask about the different rooms available so staff can find the room that best fits your needs. Yes, they are that helpful. The sixth floor (top of the hotel) has an outdoor pool, heated jacuzzi, a huge patio, and a fireplace with a sitting area. We couldnt have been happier with the location of the hotel or the comfort of its rooms. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in all wrapped in high tc white linens. Service was fast and efficient. My only disappointment was the length of time it took to get checked into my suite. We arrived and were told to we would be called […] when the room was available and we were never called, the room was not available to us until after 6:00 pm which made us very rushed for our dinner reservations at San Ysidro Ranch. Nice clean room. Close to dining, shopping, hiking and the beach. Great location but need a better sign on the street to find it. Would stay there again.

Never had heard of the Canary Inn but it came up on a search at Hotel.com. Decided to stay there because it looked like a very nice hotel and it was in the middle of the downtown State St action (and there was a special on it from hotels.com). We wanted to spend the weekend walking around Santa Barbara, and not driving. The hotel lived up to our high […] expectations. Rooms were modern and well appointed. Shower was hot. Internet was truly high speed. Staff were friendly, engaging and pleasantly available. The only negative I would give them is that the additional services (massages, internet etc) are expensive. It seems the trend these days is to jack up prices on these services to keep the room price attractive. Still the prices at the Canary were even higher then what I usually see. However because you are downtown there are many place nearby for services like massages and spa if you don't want to pay the hotel prices. Came up from south orange county for a weekend getaway and it was perfect. My girlfreind loved the room, the decore was beautiful the room was a little small but very cozy for 2. Loved the hotel, the decor was amazing and the location was perfect. Room was small but very cute. The rooftop pool/deck was the best part - gorgeous views. Would definitely stay here again.

On a busy weekend, the staff from check-in to parking to the restaurants were very outgoing and personable---rooms are deluxe yet comfortable!

The Canary Hotel is so delightful that it would please anyone who "nests" there!

A very fine experience, would love to stay again. I cannot remember the last time I stayed in a hotel with wood flooring! I love it! The bed was extremely comfortable, that is a big plus for me. I wish I could have given the 'comfort of my room' a 10! I was traveling alone and felt like the hotel was a wonderful cocoon of warmth. I could nestle into my cozy, charming room and feel totally at ease. Also, those were the most wonderfully soft sheets!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and the location was great. They have bikes you can rent and we loved riding our them around the downtown area and down to the wharf.

We recently enjoyed an overnight stay at the Canary Hotel. It is a bit pricey, but the accommodations, service, and location are all worth it. The room was furnished beautifully with a four-poster bed, work desk and chair, and easy chair, HD TV, and even a pair of binoculars and bird watching guides, Every detail was addressed from comfy robes to umbrellas […] in the closet. The hotel is centrally located off State Street, the main shopping and restaurant area. The hotel restaurant, Coast, looked appealing, but we only had breakfast there. The food was good - service great. We elected to walk to Bouchon for dinner - another great dining choice. The hotel boasts a roof-top pool with a spectacular view of Santa Barbara. the hotel is in a great area of Downtown Santa Barbara, right next to state street shopping and restaurants. Has a beautiful rooftop pool to relax and unwind after a busy week.

Found a couple of spiders the day before by the side of our bed and on the dresser, didn't think anything of it I just killed them. My wife woke up the next day with several bites on her. My wife and I loved the hotel, it's location, and intimacy feeling. The roof top pool was beautiful. We sat around the fireplace at night and enjoyed a glass of wine under the stars. We went with our 1 year old who sleeps in a crib so it made the room really small and difficult to navigate thru. Not the most kid friendly. We had a great stay at this in town hotel. The beds were really comfy, nice comforter and linens. We had two rooms and one of our shower heads was not operating properly - but the room was very clean and well appointed. We brought a dog and the hotel supplied us with a comfy dog bed ( for additional fee) but we never received the dog bone and Canary […] collar tag even though we asked about it ( it was supposed to be included). My husband and I had to rearrange our Santa Barbara plans when we decided to bring our dog with us on our trip last minute. We are so glad we switched hotels to the Canary! We had an absolutely amazing stay, our room was beautiful, and the staff was unbelievably friendly. Sometimes it's such a hassle to bring our dog because so many hotels have exorbitant […] pet fees, but the Canary just charges a small flat cleaning fee. We will definitely be returning! Devamı

The styling of the hotel was perfect for a getaway trip. I think that my wife wants to decorate our house to match now. I loved this hotel! The decor is pure Santa Barbara with beautiful tiles and wonderful art throughout the hotel. The rooms are spacious, great beds, sheets and pillows. The valet people were so polite remembering to get my phone from the car and retrieving tennis shoes with a smile. Walking distance to the best shopping and restaurants. I shared a double-double on the 5th floor with a total of three people and none of use ever felt crowded in. We really loved this hotel everything was excellent and yes Greyhound bus station below us but never interfered with our view or peace. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, every single member of the staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and courteous, all while maintaining professionalism. I said, "from the moment we arrived...", but they exhibited that professionalism on the phone, even before we arrived. The room, though a little on the small side was beautifully […] appointed and the bed was the most comfortable bed in which we've ever slept. We are considering purchasing one like it for our home. When planning a trip to Santa Barbara I tend to think of an ocean view hotel. The Canary is not that and I had some "reservations" about that before we arrived, but once there, we found that the ocean is a 20 minute walk away and all the restaurants and shopping one could want are around the corner. Sometimes, I selfishly refrain from writing positive reviews like this as though I could keep gems like The Canary as my little secret, but these people do a great job and really deserve the praise. OK other than they did not have a room for me. They were sold out and said that Hotels.com reservations made on the same day of arrival do not get to them. After a long drive that was not what I wanted to hear. After some whining, they put me in a suite, last room I guess. After that all was well.

WONDERFUL hotel!! Whenever I read these reviews, I never know what to expect since opinions are so relative. I will say that I'm a very picky, and fastidiously clean person. I come from interior designers in my family, so I'm very aware of the ambiance. That being said, the hotel was PERFECT. Quick, friendly, polite staff. Very comfortable bed, no […] aches or pains. Fluffy down pillows and duvet. CLEAN room and bathroom. Even a candle and matches in the bathtub for some relaxation. Beautiful room, furniture, linens. Wifi, Ipod dock, robes, Keurig coffee maker, a "real" hairdryer :) My ONLY two negatives were the size of breakfast smoothie - (it was rather small for what I paid, much too small to put my protein powder in). And the shower head, albeit the beautiful rain shower, was not enough pressure for my taste. On the scale of things, when those are your only negatives, I'd say it's a phenomenal hotel!!! Devamı
