Samuel Durfee House B&B - Newport

Great B&B. Really comfortable room with good furnishings and for a period property the bathrooms are fantastic. The hosts will tell you everything you need to know about the area and provide good breakfasts and afternoon coffee and cookies. Close to shops and restaurants and also walking distance to the mansions (if you don't mind being on your feet […] all day as the mansion themselves are huge), plus there is parking! Clean, central location and the breakfast are reason for a return stay. The owners Heather and Michael were very gracious.

We stayed here for while celebrating our 15th anniversary and had a great time. The room was everything we hoped it would be - beautiful, clean, comfortable, etc. Our hosts were fabulous - they made us a specially decorated mini cake and left it in our room on the night of our anniversary. The house is about a 10-15 minute walk from the main town area, […] but if you walk downhill 1 block to Thames street, there are shops and restaurants all along the way towards the center of town. It is also quite close to several of the large mansions, but you might as well drive to the mansions. I would definitely stay there again. Devamı

Stayed one night in Newport and very pleased I chose this B&B. Clean, comfortable and conveniently located property. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality, free parking behind the hotel makes your arrival stressless (given that parking is always a hassle in an unknown location). This is a period property which is reflected in the narrow staircase, […] low door heights and sloping floors - all giving a lot of character to the house. This place was great. The owners were very professional, courteous, and cook a fantastic breakfast. Our room was just as advertised and it was nice to have a mini fridge in each room (good for keeping that champagne cool). Could not ask for a better location, we walked downtown as you are only a block off the main drag. Also having parking behind the […] house off the street proved very useful. I didn't think much of it at the time but the streets are crammed with parked cars at any hour so that would have been an unneeded stress. The only complaint if there is one is that the bathroom in our room was very small, but that goes with a 200yr old house I guess. I will stay here again when we come back to Newport. Devamı

Positives: - Very good service - Historic building - Very good breakfast - Very good services - Has parking in rear (crowded resort town) - Good furnishings, nice bathroom - Walking distance to historic Newport shopping and dining. Negatives: - Not modern since it is a historic Federal period home; - Room is small; it is bedroom with ensuite bathroom […] – reminder - it is a large historic home not a hotel. Overall, a 4-4.5 on 5 point scale. Caveat: I can not comment on price since I reserved it late and for the Memorial Day weekend. But, I rate it good value for location and comparable hotel rooms that were 25-50% more expensive. Devamı
