We arrived late but other guests were still up and talking loudly. Every noise between rooms and down hallways was easily heard. We had to ask them to keep the noise down. Personal underclothing was left by a previous guest and not removed by housekeeper. Spiders found in room. Carpet tacks from strip next to tile came up through the rug and poked toes. […] Bathroom fan sounded very loud. However they did lower the cost when we told them about these things and they did allow our pet to spend the night with us. We've stayed at the Route 66 Hotel many times. Very good location for us. We enjoy easy access to historic sites as well as main highways. Shopping is very close. Cozy Dog and Mello Cream Donuts are within walking distance.

We were there for a conference so the location was perfect. The only complaint we have is that I booked a king size bed room, and we were given a double queen room.

thursday nite when we checked in room was clean. friday the room did not get cleaned,we had to get towels at the front desk. saturday they still did not clean our room,we went down to the front desk to get more towels and complain and they said they would let the manager know. we also asked for a 5.30 am wake up call sunday morning to no avail. service […] does not seem to be a priority to this hotel. never again. Rooms were clean! Only seen one staff at the front desk and the wall are very thin so if your watching tv or playing music keep it down or they come knocking at your door lol! The room was a jacusi suite non smoking but it did smell like smoke!!

This hotel is in dyer need of a remodel.. Run down, dirty, the sheets on the bed are old .. Everything even smells dirty!!!!

We stayed overnight during the week.For the price everything was great.. neighborhood was safe,location was good, staff was friendly...fun looking at all the vintage stuff..only thing I would say negative would be the bed was kinda lumpy and the carpet needed a cleaning.....but I always wear slippers in hotel rooms where ever I go...we were good with […] staying there. the cleanliness of this hotel is very questionable. When there are spider webs galore in the hallways that is not a good sign. The carpet in the room looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in a week or 2.

The Route 66 Hotel is definitely a great place to stay.I was in Springfield with my ex,our daughter and her Fiance as I had court the next day over my oldest daughter and we decided on this hotel because of the low nightly rate. The rooms are beautiful,very clean and have flat screen tv's in them,The Bathrooms are also very spacious which isn't common […] for most hotel bathrooms.The High Speed Wifi was also very much appreciated when My daughter wanted to watch her favorite cartoon on on the internet. There's a great restaurant on site that serves some of the most delicious food I've ever had. The hotel itself is filled with great classic Memorabilia so make sure you have your camera with you because you WILL want to take some pictures. Its also very close to Walmart and several other restaurants are in the vicinity. We definitely enjoyed our stay here and plan on doing so again. If you want a great hotel with fantastic rooms with comfortable rooms,Lots of memorabilia and a great on site Restaurant then The Route 66 is the place for you! Devamı

the hotel was fine, i really like that they are pet freindly. the only thing i really was not satified with was the beds felt like you were laying on rock hard floors. very uncomfortable. i could not sleep, tossed and turned all night. i was there to take the illinois roofing test in their conference room the next morning, so a good night sleep was […] expected and not acheived. other then that the staff was great and it was very clean Devamı

I thought my room was very clean and I liked the hotel overall. Only thing was the air wasnt working very well and It was a little hot in my room, not comfortable at all. If it was summer time I would have complained and switched rooms.

the only complaint i have is the air didnt keep the room cool enough which means they have temp control for the whole hotel and 80 degrees isnt good sleeping weather

I attended a conference at the hotel which is why I stayed here despite the 2 star rating. The 2 stars are too generous. The building raves about nostalgia and orginal fixtures but in fact it is just old, out-dated and in need of repair. I went to use the phonebook in the room to order a pizza and found the phone and bible covered in mold! horrible room i got the jacuzzi suite thinking it would be the nicest room and it was horrible, paint falling off the wall the jacuzzi knob broke off, no room circulation. i couldnt sleep all night.

This hotel was within 5 minutes from major attractions. Super clean, lots of restaurants nearby. The staff was very helpful in finding attractions. Great deal for the money.

The room was comfortable and clean and good value for the money. I'd stay there again.

Overall I was impressed with the hotel. After doing housekeeping for 4 years in a very nice hotel, I'm extremely picky about the cleanliness of the rooms. I found nothing wrong at all. I think our room was recently updated, passed by a lot of rooms that were still under remodeling. The only thing I wasn't happy with was the big glass window, & the curtain […] didn't really shut all the way, left enough room to see through...I just shoved the curtain in the door knob, easy fix!!!(Also, our door didn't shut on it's own, you actually have to push it closed and pull it closed while leaving) Restaurant down stairs was really good food!! Neighborhood seemed decent, but not convinced, went to the dollar general right down the road with my 3 year old, and while we were in there the cops came in, due to a mother and daughter in there that were shoplifting. Overall hotel was worth the price, nicely decorated, great location & good restaurant. Left a note for housekeeping & they did exactly what I had asked out of them. Took a while to check in with only "1" couple in front of me. The hotel is fun, convenient to food, bars, stores, etc. Hotel could use some updating and cleaning but had a good time and look forward to staying there again!

Convenient location, bathroom rennovation nice but beds not comfortable. Hair found on bathroom floor. Staff nice. Museum-like atmosphere interesting and educational.

acceptable accommodations for single night stay on route 66. room had no outside window, only window faces inside hallway, kind of had a cave like feel with no natural light

charged for early check in. Cannot check in until 3:00 Room was dirty with dirty towels on bathroom floor. No clean towels for 2nd day. Lobby looks nice but the rooms are nasty.

I would not stay here again

I was on my way on route 66 with my girlfriend and this was the perfect hotel to stay for the night in Springfield. We got a low rate as we always do with hotels.com

Whenever I check into a hotel, I always inspect the sheets first. There were hairs on the sheets and it seems like they were not washed between customers. The room was fairly nice and clean though. I just hate dirty sheets.

Close to historical sites and reasonably priced. Staff needs to work on greeting attitudes!

Now my husband liked the retro Rt 66 stuff, the hotel was not so hot to me. The layout is weird, there is a full night club inside the hotel and its loud. The rooms had a weird odor to them, we had to leave the door open and spray perfume to try to air it out. like I said location was convenient taking into consideration your in Springfield, IL (not much going there anyways...) so dont expect much. So to keep this short but better sweet, the day-core was really nice 50-60ish style, nice (but dirty) pool side, and so so food dinner... That I can all live with and for the price have stayed in WORSE!! but the […] biggest gripe that I have was the bed itself, other than being uber hard there was blood stains all over the under sheets and pillow, like there was bed bugs biting on someone... and when i reported the issue the lady at the front desk was very sincere, but did'nt do more but give me clean sheets to change the bed with?? lmao, So yeah, I hope this helps someone. This hotel was conveniently located to any place we wanted to go in Springfield. Although the hotel is older, it has been nicely updated and is very tastefully decorated and very clean. The hotel has a lot of trivia around about the glory days of Route 66 and that is the time the hotel is stuck in. No desk in my room, no business center,no hangers in my room, and one bed that had the smell of urine. This hotel was situated on the outskirts of Sprinfield. The rooms had a glass wall instead of a brick wall which was a bit spooky at first but the receptionist was really helpful and the room/hotel was clean.

Location was good. Near shopping & points of interest. One bed had a plastic mattress pad that was loud when turning over in bed. Ate at the restuarant one AM. Food was good but it was closed on Sun AM which was inconvient. I had read reviews about this hotel before deciding to go ahead and book it....after all it was for my husband's birthday and I thought he'd like the knick-knacks around the hotel. We arrived there, and I was very impressed by the room. It looked even better in person than it did in the pictures. It was clean and well decorated. It was nice to just enjoy time walking down the halls and looking at everything with my husband. It is conviently located in Springfield with restaurants and such nearby. We went stayed here because we went to the State Fair and it was a great, easy drive to the fairgrouds. The reason I wanted to write this review it because I know people read reviews before making a decision, and sometimes the "bad" or "lets be picky about something" reviews steer people away, but this is truely a really great hotel and we have decided to stay there in the future when going back to Springfield. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and roomy. However, we did not have hot water for a shower on the morning of our departure. Also, we could not find anyone to check us in for at least 10 minutes. The best part of this hotel was the memorabilia on display in the public areas. As for the room . It reeked of the air freshener that was used to make this a non smoking room. We stayed here as a stop over on our vacation. Considering the price and the amount of time we were in the hotel it was perfect. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. I can't say the mattress was all that comfortable, but most aren't. In addition, the Rt 66 memorabilia was interesting and fun to look at.

This is a classic place with lots of Route 66 decor. Our room was recently renovated - but they kept the old Route 66 feel. The beds weren't posturepedic - but not bad. It's just down the street from the Cozy Dog - so get your famous corn dog and more Route 66 Kicks there! Enjoy the many sites of Springfield - it's a grea place to visit. :)

It was an okay hotel, in reasonably good shape, and the rooms were clean. Some issues: I called there before booking on Hotels.com and was assured it would be no problem to get 2 adjoining rooms (just put the request in the comment section, shouldn't be a problem). Didn't get the adjoinging rooms, asked if it could be changed, and was told that it wouldn't […] be possible. Rooms were only 3 doors apart, so not the biggest deal...strange thing was that one of our two rooms had the doorway to the room next to it, and the room next to it was vacant. ??? Other minor issues: was told that we could get a coffee from the restaurant, but not that it was closed on Sundays (maybe it said that somewhere, but I sure didn't see it). Oh, well...the free coffee in the lobby would do...Didn't find any there either. There WAS a coffee maker in the room. It didn't work properly, unfortunately. The K-9 police convention greeted us and made us feel very safe. God Bless everyone of them and their dogs too. If police stay there you know it is something special. My two-year old boy loved the car theme of Route 66. He loved the displays. My six-year old girl loved the chili at the YesterYear restaurant on-site. Very good food. Pool was great. From the moment we walked in, we did not feel welcomed. A police officer conveniently followed us in to the front desk. Not a good first impression. Next, I had hoped for a non-smoking room. Didn't get that. The room smelled old. I was disappointed, but did not want to change rooms in fear that I would not get a king bed. Speaking of bed... the hotel […] advertises a king "premium" bed. Not! If this was a premium bed, I'd hate to see what the other beds were like. Needless to say, we did not have a good night's sleep. The washing machine for customer's use was broken. The bed sheets and pillows were itchy. The towels were terribly small. There was an in-room coffee maker that I did not try. And, the pop machine ate my money - which the front desk reluctantly returned to me. But, the worst part of our stay at this hotel was the poor customer service. The staff, including managment, need to be trained in service excellence. They were cordial, but that's all they were. No smiles, no pleasantries, no extra mile service. It all felt very sour!!! Check out time is at noon. By 10:30a my key card would not work anymore. I called the front desk to ask what time was check out. They answered noon and then I asked them why my key card was not working. They said the cards will demagnitize if placed next to a cell phone. Later I thought about this and realized I never placed my cell phone next to the key card. I felt this was another un-welcoming gesture. I will never stay at Route 66 Hotel again, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I was very happy to leave the next morning. Be aware that there is no complimentary breakfast - no surprise. The "restaurant" inside the hotel was open for breakfast though. It looked like a lunchroom/bar. And the bar tender, once again, did not have a friendly demeanor. I turned around and left.
