Monterey Motel - Wildwood Crest

I booked this hotel because it was close to what we were planning on doing---whale/dolphin watching. I had no high expectations, but when we got there, the woman behind the desk was friendly and nice. The location was perfect with the balcony looking over the beach which was only less than a hundred yards from where we stayed. The surrounding area was […] as expected being in a beach town with plenty of hotels/motels... The room was clean and tidy, but most of all, the beds and futon was comfy and had a nice small bungalo feel to it. We booked a weekend in Wildwood once the season was over intentionally. We did not want the crowds, traffic or outrageous prices. We had a SPLENDID weekend partly due to this CUTE motel! We believe each unit in the motel is owned by individual owners (the decor of each room differs) and this adds to the uniqueness of the establishment. We stayed at the hotel in the middle of september. It was very quiet, i think we may have been the only ones there. The pool was very nice, heated, nice surroundings. The room was pretty nice, had a full size fridge, table stove, micorwave and all the things needs to cook and eat with. Beds wernt the comfortableist, or the sofa bed but it was worth […] it for the money. Right on the beach, outside area has plenty of tables to sit outside, vollyball net, ping pong table. Loved it. loved it. loved it. The staff was friendly. The room and pool was clean. It was close yet far enough away from the boardwalk. Right on the beach. We will be back!!

We had a wonderful experience. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. The kitchen area was supplied with dishes, silverware and glasses and there was a full size fridge. The pool area was also really nice. . The hotel was right on the beach which is just what we wanted. It was also only a 5 minute drive […] to the Boardwalk in Wildwood and 10 minutes to Cape May. The hotel manager was horrible, she has no training in management and was very disrespectful to customers. It was very uncomfortable when she told my son he looked like an adult and he is only 16. I felt very discriminated by her . My son was in the pool and she wanted to know if he was staying with us. I have never seen something like this.There was […] another family with an 8 year old child and the hotel manager came up and told the child he has to leave the pool. If had to launch a campaign I would try to get no one to come back to this motel. I spent a lot of time planning my vacation and it started off bad meeting the manager of that motel. Its unacceptable to received this service, when I questioned the manager about her nasty attitude on how she addressed me she said that she owns the hotel. This is the United States of america and treatment like this is not acceptable. The rooms were not well kept and the location was not all that at least the manager could be kind. I stayed there in August 2011 and will never stay there again the costumer service was horrible and it was not just us while staying there i saw the receptionist/manager told the mother of a 15 year old boy '' HE LOOKS LIKE AN ADULT, AND IF HE LOOKS OLD HE LOOKS OLD'' I read many bad reviews about this place but it was the only hotel available for a […] last minute stay so i booked it anyway. The good news was that the room was available before the published check-in time. The room and hotel were very dated - like haven't been refurbished since it opened in the 1950's old. Dust hanging down from A/C vents, rusty range hood, fridge, and bathroom sink. We relied on the 16 positive reviews versus only two negatives. We got fooled! The hotel was clean and located right on the beach, so for a very basic place to stay it is fine. The pull out sofa bed in our room was horribly uncomfortable and could not be used. The rooms have been recently renovated and the staff was fine. No services to speak of but none were expected.

The room was very expensive despite being a "breezeway" room. To add to the lack of light in the front of ther unit, we also faced onto a blank wall on ther back of the unit and had to put up with the sound of the central air conditioning unit all night. Our room hasn't been updated since the 70s I would guess and it shows. Wallpaper is peeling, kithcen […] and bath are a bit moldy. Apart from that, the public facilities (pool, ping-pong and pool table) are fine. Close proximity to the beach was a bonus. Devamı

We had a wonderful experence here. The room was spacious, nicely decorate and clean. The kitchen had all the supplies of home. It is right on the beach and the price was great. It is in Wildwood Crest so the area is very nice. The management and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. We liked it so much we came back here for the end of vacation […] again. Devamı

We really enjoyed our stay over July 4th weekend. The beach was clean, not that crowded and the boardwalk was far enough away so you could not hear the noise, but a close enough drive to spend a an evening there. The location is great. The view is great. Friendly people not plush but confortable.

There really aren't any amenitites at the Monterey. There is a kitchenette in the room which was very nice, but there were five of us staying in the room and we never got more than 2 washcloths each day. The sleeping was also terrible. The sleeping arrangements said two doubles and a pull out couch, however, there was not a pull out couch, there was […] a futon that leaned so far down on the one side that it was almost impossible to sleep on it. While clean, all of the sheets on the beds had holes in them and there was one blanket for all of us. The only things on the beds were sheets and a very thin cover (felt like a shower curtain). I can't complain about the location because it was perfect, right on the beach and that's the main thing I was looking for with my family. The owner was nice so I feel bad about the review, but the accomodations part of this vacation was pretty much the main drawback for me. We will look for somewhere else to stay the next time we visit the Wildwood Area. Devamı

Staff and owner were very nice. It was nice meeting them all. The locations was great - you have the beach right there and everything you want to go to is not far away. I would book there again and hope we had nicer weather next time. We enjoyed some of the time we spent in our room. It was a nice family outing.

Condo like accomodations on the beach. Felt almost like a home away from home.

It was a totally enjoyable, clean, friendly, and convenient place to stay. We would definitely stay there again. Rate was good for what we got.

Monterey Motel is made up of condo units, with an on-site manager (until 10pm). When checking in, staff person did not provide new remote controls for cable tv so could not use tv on first night there. Motel telephone system also not working. Motel was very close to beach, and condition of room was quite clean.

It was a nice beach motel. we defenately will come back next year.

We stayed at this hotel in the fall so the proximity to the ocean was not a big deal for us. We were there to see our daughter graduate from the Coast Guard Boot Camp. The hotel room was nice; it did not have much in the way of kitchen items needed if you wanted to cook in the little kitchen. We had to go scrounge some bowls from the manager to eat […] some cereal! This hotel exceeded my expectations. I wasn't too crazy about getting a top-notch hotel with all the bells and whistles, just somewhere comfortable where I can sleep and have my stuff (since I was planning on being out most of the time). This place felt like I was in my own apartment. Everything was clean, and very roomy. The pool was awesome, going […] from 3-8ft. When I arrived my room was a mess with stuff thrown all over, but when I let staff know of this, I was immediately given a fresh room. I stood here with friends and we had so much fun. The motel is right on the beach, which is pretty calm since it's Wildwood Crest and not Wildwood itself. There was a pretty decent pizzeria in the motel across from this one, but there isn't much within walking distance, which I really didn't mind b/c parking is very cheap in Wildwood ($5 for 6+ hrs). My family was very happy with the location and the amenities of the hotel. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. The kids enjoyed being able to walk right out to the beach and also having a pool to play in. Not a Ritz-Carlton, but great value for the money.
