Cascade Village - Durango

I've stayed here 3 times now: once 10 years ago and once 20 years ago. The condos are nice and comfortable, with covered parking below. Bring your own docking station if you want to listen to your IPOD. The phone was funky, but wired internet worked fine. The wireless device was clearly for the purposes of the owners. The pool and hot tubs are fun, […] with a reasonable changing room provided to avoid tromping through the snow in a wet bathing suit. I guess downsizing has affected the ability to staff the lobby and bar at Cascade Village. We drove right past the ski area to the condo, only to find a note on the door indicating that we needed to go back to Durango Mountain Resort to check in. I looked at our booking email, and sure enough, at the bottom of one of the notifications is the following: "All guests should check-in/out at the 24-hour desk located in the main lobby of Purgatory Lodge, 24 Sheol Street, about 1 mile south of Cascade Village." I can't say the front desk help was particularly friendly about it. You will also want to purchase groceries and cook in while staying there. No restaurants or bars seem to be open on the mountain past 8pm. The closest thing to a grocery store is Needles, some 6 or 8 miles back toward Durango, but it is more of a convenience store. A grocery can be found at Trible, another 15 miles. So: pick up your groceries on the way out, and be sure to stop at the ski resort to check in. Devamı

It was a beautiful time of the year to visit and our view of the aspen colors and snow on the mts was unbelievably beautiful. We hated to leave!! Our only problem was the filthy carpeting--think you could do better with that..

I was very satisified with the quality of the condo. It was far from town but well worth it. The only thing is we had to drive back and check in at Durango Mountain Resort instead of Cascade Village.

The biggest negative was the noise from the highway next door; the rooms don't have air conditioning, which is fine if you open the windows, but if you open the windows, the highway noise is very loud. We got there late, discovered that we had to drive 2 miles down the road to check in, were given a magnetic key, went back to discover that the door […] took a regular (metal) key. All of this took an extra half hour that we could have productively used on sleep. Otherwise the place is okay, although there is something of a feeling of decay. Devamı

Our stay at Cascade Village was WONDERFUL!!! It was affordable and in a very beautiful mountain location! Can't wait until next year! Thank you! I would like to be informed on special pricing for future vacations.

This was a condo in a lodge about 23 miles from Durango, CO and 23 miles from Silverton, CO. It was really, really nice. There was a full service kitchen with good quality appliances, a fireplace (with wood provided), a jetted tub in the room as well as two hot tubs outside facing the mountain, and a really nice size bathroom. We had a wonderful stay at this motel. Gorgeous scenery and very friendly staff. Everything was excellent! We plan to stay again next year but this time I'll try and make it about three weeks to a month later to enjoy the colors of the aspen trees!

Our stay at Cascade Village was brief but wonderful. The room was very comfortable, enjoyed the fire place since the evening was cool. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well with the windows open. It was quiet and peaceful. Liked the parking situation of how close we could park to the stairwell to our building. Fabulous stay in beautiful rooms, great value (August 2011), great facilities. **Be sure you understand to check in at "Durango Mountain Retreat" otherwise quite confusing with signage, etc. Look for the huge pillars with wood lentil overhead 2 miles before you get there. Highly recommended.

Check-in problematic... no one present, ever. Had to drive 2 miles to the Durango resort to get access to Cascade Village... no previous notification or warning. Sign posted at the door to use the telephone to call Durango Resort... No air conditioning... ceiling fan noisy... rooms were hot! Once we got in other than the situations mentioned above […] the stay was pleasant, and we would stay again and recommend CV to others... Devamı

It was a great stay. Staff were very friendly. The balcony had a great view of the mountains and Venus and the full moon in the evenings. Halfway between Durango and Silverton gave us lots of options to view the fall foliage.

Rental was a spacious 2 bedroom condo that was great. Excellent value and price. Location is a little removed from Durango, but I enjoyed the peace and quiet. Would definitely stay here again.

We will nevery stay there again

Stayed two nights here. Stayed for the night after 15hr drive before backpacking into Weminuche Wilderness and after backpacking out. The location was very convenient only about 3 minutes from Purgatory Flats trail head. Hotel during summer season was same cost as place in Durango but probably quieter, much better scenic view, very convenient location […] to trailhead so it was easy decision to book here. Arrived much earlier than expected and room was still ready for us. Hotel service was very friendly, room was very very nice for price (non-ski season). Stayed in room 349 and it was very nice with great view of mountains. Comfy beds, great shower, and free internet :) The kitchen, the TV, the phone it all worked. Only problem was two of the tiles on kitchen counters were falling off, big whoop. Not sure why it only gets two and a half stars but after camping for 3 days in comparison this hotel was heaven. We stayed in the Summer when the rates at Durango Mountain Resort are much cheaper than down in the town. It's quite a drive down to town and to any restaurant, but the views around the resort are amazing and the interior of the room is spacious and cozy. Our view from our room was the parking lot unfortunately, but we spent very little time in the […] room as there is so much to do in the Durango area. Defintely go to historic downtown Durnago, Mesa Verde National Park and ride the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad if you have time. You can also stand in four states at once at the four corners and there are plenty of fun outdoor activities at Durnago Mountain Resort at Purgatory just two miles from Purgatory. Purgatory is usually about the same price, is newer and has more restaurants as well as things to do. However, Cascade is quieter and less likely to have noisy wedding groups and such. Devamı

had to wash all the dishen, the kitchen was not clean. the kitchen cabinet under the sick needs to be replace. no air and it was hot in there. would not stay there again. the price was to high for that condo.

We were very pleased with our stay at Cascade Village. Very peaceful in a beautiful setting. If we are in the area we will return.

Nice accomudation and the staff were very helpful!

We were set to stay IN Durango for a couple of days. This hotel was 26 MILES North of Durango. It was absolutely wonderful though!

The kitchen needs more teaspoons. The steps were a little on the wife with knee problems. Overall the stay was very nice. Thanks again The Humphreys
