Colton Inn - Monterey

i will stay here again.

I liked it but I had some issues with hotels.com when I checked in which created a little bit of a hassle. I liked the hotel but I wish it had a spa or pool. It had a dry sauna but not really that appealing. The movie selection was great and overall I would stay again. Just wanted to unwind in a spa after the business meeting but no worries.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Colton Inn sort of haphazardly. We had reservations made on our behalf to the Hyatt in Monterey for the Friday and Saturday nights, but when we decided to try to get a room at the Hyatt the Thursday night too we were unable. The fireplace in the room was a nice touch you don't see very often (you even get a complimentary log to light). The decor in the room and bathroom were a little outdated, but the amenities were nice regardless. The rooms were a good size too, which was nice. The hotel staff was really great and even let us have a late checkout without us giving them advanced warning. On Friday I spent a fair amount of time walking along Munras Road, passing other hotels in the area, and I can say that from the outside the Colton Inn outshines a lot of the other options in the area. I would recommend it, and I would consider staying there again. My only advisement to people visiting Monterey is that it isn't right on the water. Then again, Monterey was very easy to navigate, so we didn't have any issue getting to downtown, the wharf, or the aquarium. Devamı

Good hotel, good location and courteous staff. Near a fire station, but it's been quiet the three times we've stayed there.

Very nice room for the $$. We were very pleased with our stay. Would definately stay again

Enjoyed my stay overall. Room was comfortable and quiet. Simple things caused minor irritation such as lack of instructions on how to divert water at the spigot to get the shower to work (figured that one out) or how to get the TV to sync with the video player (didn't get that one figured out). My girl and I stayed for the first time at this hotel and it was everything I hoped for and then some. The fireplace made the evening. The front desk staff was friendly and fast. I would most definitely return and recommend to my friends. Thank you until next visit!

Great location for Monterey First Night Celebration.

Our stay at Colton Inn over New Years was very nice. The staff was very helpful, the room was comfortable, and especially liked the fire place with a real presto log provided each day. Only negative was the squeaky floor that created noise whenever the occupany above move about. Recommend you ask for a floor on the top level to avoid this issue.

I love the Colton Inn. It's great in terms of price and location and has a nice funky air to it. So, we were looking forward to a romantic Christmas eve-Christmas Day stay. Unfortunately, our stay was ruined by a totally inadequate heating system. The weather outside was chilly, but our room didn't have any decent heating system. It had a small device […] that supposedly was a space heater but actually did not give off anything but a weak trickle of warm air. that could not even be felt more than 6 inches from the fan opening. We left this fake heater on all day and the room temperature never budged from its icy temperature in the 50-60 degree range. The room also had a fireplace with one, count it, one log. But the fireplace faced away from the bed and the lounging area and did not give off any perceptible heat at all. The inn seriously needs an upgrade to at least a decent space heater if not a window unit heater or a central heating system. The room we stayed in was not the warmest but the bathroom was incredibly cold. We had to cover the floor tile with towels in order not to feel like we are walking on ice. The room with bathroom were on the second floor and had open space below and front and back. We were informed that the room that we were in, is not the coldest.

We stayed at the colton inn this thanksgiving weekend . The hotel room was awesome and exceeded our expectations , given the price range . The inn has a dated charm to it with all the furniture , fireplace et al straight from the 80s . The room was very well maintained . It's seriously a couple minutes from cannery row. But its for a really good price. You may not get the ocean view. But its a really nice place to stay. Definitely coming back since this stay was a quick one.

MOnterey is small so the location, even though not on the water is about 4 blocks from the pier or a 10 min walk. The room was basic but spacious and the mattresses were comfortable. There is a fridge and microwave in the room and free internet. Our room was as far as you could get from the lobby however and so we did not get internet. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Great location to all of the attractions. Fireplace was a nice amenity. Not only will come back but will recommend to anyone who wants to visit area.

The Colton Inn is located just south of downtown on a quiet street. The rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. I did have a problem with the first one, but they were quick to remedy the problem. The breakfast is minimal, but good coffee is available all day. I would definitely go back.

Even though we live in Southern California, we were really excited to visit Monterey Bay for the weekend. We booked out room at the Colton Inn. When we arrived we noticed on the bed their were some stains, We kindly ask the attended at the front desk if we could receive a new comforter, she stated that she couldn’t because it was to hard to change out […] the inner and outer comforter, we then ask could we change rooms and she said they were booked. Overall the service was horrible and I hate to say that I try to give people and businesses the benefit of the doubt, but this was just awful. Their lack of customer service was amazing. When we checked out, the front desk clerk didn’t say Thank you or anything and for this reason we will not stay at this hotel again and we will not recommend this hotel to our friends who go up to Monterey a lot. This hotel had wonderful amenities, great breakfast. Had a lot of value for the money. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The refrigerator and microwave is a very good touch.

Don't expect 5-star service here, but expect a very friendly staff, and some great amenities for a standard cheap hotel. The location is great, just out of the way of the busy tourists, but a nice walk or bike to the heart of it all.

The rates were higher than what I normally pay to go to monterey, which I do three or four times a year. The staff was friendly, which was nice for a chance and not normal for the area. The bed was very soft, and clean. The neighborhood was very quiet both during the day and at night. I went on labor day weekend, and expected the hotels to be loud and […] full of people, but this hotel was quaint and quiet. Nothing up scale, very small rooms, but pieceful and comfortable. Had rental DVD's in the office free of charge to watch in your room, as well as alarm clocks/IPOD chargers in the room. There was a nice patio area to eat at, but very limited breakfast items. when visiting Monterey ca, we stayed at the Colton Inn and were very satisfied with our choice. The hotel was very clean and staff really courteous. It was convenient to the sights we were seeing. and had great breakfasts, dvd list, and deck. Enjoyed our stay there.

Good place to stay if you want to avoid huge hotel prices in the centre of Monterey. The room was spacious, breakfast ok, staff friendly. Can definitely recommend.

So many wonderful things to say about our stay, staff very gracious and helpful, location great, just blocks from great restaurants as driving in the area very difficult due to congestion all around Carmel.

Loved this place! The rooms were large and clean, price was good, within walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and Cannary Row... best part was the really extensive list of movies they loaned out for free... Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Monterey!

The hotel was a good location, a little tired in decor but if you only want a bed for the night it's fine.

Simple continental breakfast on the terrace, lots of free recent dvd's, residential type area, walk anywhere or grab the free trolley to the incredible aquarium!

This was a great place to stay off the beaten path. The fireplace was nice. We had to walk about a mile to eat dinner at PF chang's. The Cannery row is 2 Miles away so this was a bummer. We were on our Harley so it was a little too far to walk all dressed up for dinner. But this is a great Hotel and worth the money you save not being at cannery row […] . Devamı

OK place to stay during non school time. It is directly across from a school and could get busy during the day. Overall, relatively nice and good price!

The location is nice: within walking distance of downtown Monterey. The hotel was quiet. The continental breakfast was adequate. The room was good. The one bad thing is one of the blue comforters had a white stain on it. Yuck! The front desk was very nice and they had tons of DVDs to borrow.

"OK" hotel. Old and showing its age. However, the rooms are clean and the location couldn't be better. I would give the hotel a "B" overall. The breakfast is a very nice touch and enjoyable.

Awesome. We enjoyed this trip and had a fun time in Monterey. We also likef the free parking. That was a sweet plus.

This hotel is just right. Not so nice that is stiff and uncomfortable, not so you are roughing it. And they are bike friendly!

Very comfy and very convenient to Hwy 1, Carmel, Monterey, Cannery Row, Aquarium and all. Courteouse and helpful staff. Excellent value in a place where that's hard to find. Also located a laundromat back up the road off of Hwy. 1 in case you need to do laundry. Conti breakfast is fine (no hot items), plus coffee/tea and lots of ice available 24x7.
