No Parking, Rude attitude, No breakfast even a cup of coffee

Berkeley Inn is close to BART and other public transportation, pretty good restaurant(s)/eatery and public library. Rooms not large or filled with mod-cons, but quite nice and clean. overall, I would stay there again and would recommend to others.

This place covers all the bases. It has a reasonable price point, its is close to Cal (easy bus ride down university ave), it has all the essentials and the staff was accommodating.

The room is not clean at all and there's blood on the sheet. Also the wifi is really bad.

It's not very comfortable, but if you want to pay less, it's a great choice.

The Berkeley Inn is definitely not a posh resort. The room was small, with a Rubbermaid-type folding table for a desk! But it came with TV, refrigerator, microwave and Internet and was just fine for a quiet night's rest in a clean room. The hotel's manager was pleasant and very helpful. And the price was just about the lowest you can get.

Room was clean except for the phone which i didn't dare touch. Room is small, but having a microwave and fridge was a big plus. Walls are very thin...you can here pretty much everything in adjoining rooms. Parking can be very cramped which is worstened by a dumpster. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean and changed daily. Nice cafe next door with […] good breakfasts and a nice garden area out back. Not a place to stya id you're going to spend any time in the hotel, but location is convenient to all of Berkeley and the highway. I'd stay again if I travel alone, but my wife would definitely require better accomodations. Devamı

I found the bed so hard that I slept very badly, waking up again and again, for two nights. The proprietor was very nice, said all the mattresses were the same, yet offered to change rooms for the third night if I thought it would help. I stayed with a friend on his air mpattress instead. Other people are evidently fine with the beds, but I can't stay […] there again. This is probably the cheapest hotel in Berkeley- the staff is very nice and considerate, and the location is excellent, it is 2 miles to UC Berkeley and there is a nice coffee shop with a great back patio right next door. and, the room had a good sized refrigerator and microwave- nice bonus touches. This hotel was run down and dirty. There was grafitti on the dumpster in the small parking lot. The manager was behind bullet proof glass, and there were signs on the walls stating the building is unsafe for earthquakes. I would not recommend this hotel.

The only thing that this hotel has is location. The room is only big enough to fit the bed. There is no HBO and only poor reception of local channels. There is no wi-fi even if they say that there is. The hotel is in a questionable part of town. The managers lied to me in order to keep my money for an extra night that I did not stay there. This "hotel" is actually a motel. I only spent one night here, and it was OK. Nothing fancy (at all) but a cheap and ok place to stay if you're on a budget

Maybe I shouldn't expect better for the price I paid. Surrounding residents were talking late into the night making sleep difficult. This talking didn't quiet down until close to midnight. I was a bit concerned about the sign at the entrance that warned about the possible danger should there be an earthquake. I didn't get a restful nights sleep. If you enjoy the owner peeking in your window in the afternoon, this is the hotel for you. If you enjoy the owner calling you at all hours demanding you let him in to clean just after 14 hours of check in, this is the hotel for you. If you enjoy the owner turning off the water so you'll leave and they can clean on day one of check in, this is the […] hotel for you. If you enjoy almost being charged an extra $50 dollars on top of your weekly rate because the owner wasn't happy with the rate hotels.com gave you, this is the hotel for you. Excellent neighborhood, quite and clean. PERFECT RESTAURANT NEXT TO IT. NEAR BERKELEY UNIVERSITY Hotel very well maintained and good service.

"No ice" says it all about the quality of hospitality and service in this bare-bones hostel. The manager wasn't even apologetic!

Outside of the hotel, on a sheet of printer paper taped to the wall of the hotel with red tape, it says "This is a soft building. It is not safe to be inside during an earthquake." That makes me a little nervous in California...

Terrible service and rooms!!!! Do not stay here!

I arrived at the Inn at 130am and left by 830am so I was only there for 7 hours. The office was closed but when I rang the bell the manager came out and gave me my room. Room was on 3rd floor and walked the stairs which were right next to the office and not bad. Main thing is that the room was very clean....new paint, very clean bathroom, nice fresh […] linen....what more could you want at close to 2am in the morning! Room also had a refrigerator and microwave. Great since I had a box of fresh flower leis for UCBerkeley graduation that needed refrigerating. Devamı

Building has a warning posted on walls (INDICATING THAT YOU ARE NOT SAFE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE BUILDING DURING AN EARTHQUAKE......)

Comfortable, smoking allowed in some rooms, traffic noise. Good value, great location.

We booked a non-smoking room, because we don't smoke... Upon checking in, the receptionist DEMANDED that i hand over my credit card and said he would charge $150 if we smoked in the room. Like i said, we requested a non-smoking room, so we obviously weren't gonna smoke... so it was no problem... but the way he came about it..felt like he was adamant […] about doing some charging on my card. We stayed one night, and all the reviews on this place are correct. it is waht it is... a little motel. the walls are super thin, and staff was not friendly. but we were there just for the night and left early in the morning, travellodge was 80 bucks and this place was 60 for my girlfriend and i. so we decided to go with the cheapest place. If youre just using that place as a pit stop, its totally fine. My girlfriend and i ended up walking over to albatross pub two blocks down, so we had a decent night before knocking out in our room haha. just dont expect to have your mind blown by great customer service or a super fancy room. haha Devamı

It is cheap so hotel is not bad if realistic. However the clerk took my credit card info and wouldn't provide me with a receipt or anything upon checkout. No copy of what I signed. It was insane and a little violating. Was told I don't need any since booked through this. But felt like had no proof for me. Any other place would surely provide you with […] paperwork. Devamı

I can not believe that is can be existing. The walls are thin. We heard everything upstairs and downstairs. I MEAN EVERYTHING! The manager had the nerve to call when family came down to pick us up for dinner to make sure they were not spending the night in the room. Then they charged us and extra $20 because the room we orignally booked suppostively […] couldn't fit 2 adults and 2 children (8,2) even though we thought it was fine. We requested that our room doesn't have to be cleaned and they still come in and clean the room and moved everything that we had on the bed. Its a standard motel with smaller rooms than we usually had. The neighbourhood is okay, in daytime plenty of shops, including indian stores with colorful sarees and stuff. At night its dead except a bar called Albatross. The staff in the motel was friendly at check-in BUT if you want to stay a little longer than 11 am you will face a fierce manager […] demanding USD 10 for every half hour you stay longer (!). The receptionist on duty was not too friendly. vERY UPTIGHT AND HOSTILE. Responded to simple requests as we were querelling. There is no potter and it appears there is ONLY staff doing all the job in the hotel. This may cause stress which could affect the mood of the receptionist to customers. The room and the bathroom looked so dirty I was afraid to touch anything. There was a telephone but no connecting cable... Strange! The lamps look like they were about to fall off the wall. Please don't suggest this place to anyone.... no matter how attractive the price.

The room was not comfortable. There was no heater and no remote for the TV. We could have lived without the remote but a heater in January is necessary and was not available. The bed was not comfortable. The room was not very clean and the floors were sticky. The bathroom was quite tiny. The location was great but overall I would not recommend this […] inn to anyone. While a wireless network was available, use of the wireless network required that I completely disable the software firewall on the laptop I had with me, which I was not willing to do. Out of twenty or so hotels I have stayed in over the last several years, this is the first time I ran into this situation. When I attempted to get help from the staff, […] one of the members was very rude and obnoxious. Do not go to this hotel if you have any sense of digital security and need to use the wireless during your stay. As a side note, turning left on Ashby avenue from this hotel and going to the seven-eleven convenience store will take one to a hotel that has less restrictive network access policy. Devamı

I ended up staying 5 days. Even though it was small, it was very clean. The only thing I worried about was the sign on the stairway door: "Earthquake Warning. This is a soft story building ... You may not be safe inside or near such buildings during an earthquake." (I kept a whistle, flashlight, and water by my bed). I got plenty of exercise going to […] my 3rd floor room; there are no elevators. I stayed because it was cheap, convenient, and clean. Devamı
