Gideon Putnam Resort And Spa - Saratoga Springs

Everything was as expected and I have no complaints.

Enjoyed being back at this grand place! Here many years ago for a "Big Band" weekend and remember the time with great fondness. Walking paths on the grounds are great.

This is an outstanding facility with a wonderful staff. I look forward to returning.

The Gideon is a hotel that I could live in. Imagine waking up in one of the most beautiful parks in Upstate New York every day! The rooms were comfortable and the staff was friendly and polite. The Gideon is close to the charming city of Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Racetrack and the Yaddo. I can't wait to stay there again!

Outstanding Hotel location. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and well equipped. Restaurant/bar staff very friendly-food was great. Will stay here again-highly recommend a visit.

Pretty place. Stayed there 10 years ago. Disappointed attached pub was gone. They were known for beer taps and in the restaurant/bar only one tap was working. Limited menu and bartender was overwhelmed and not friendly. Still love this hotel and it was a great value.

This resort is my all-time happy place. Pristine grounds, access to the baths and Spa and a friendly, elegant staff contribute to the effect. The on-campus restaurant and bar is exquisite. We are from NYC and we make it a point to visit , at least, twice a year to relax and to recharge. Anna, Brian and Terrence are the best !

Clean room , nice size, polite staff

Hotel and room were very comfortable. The nostalgic feel was nicely unique.

We spent one night at his lovely hotel. It's an 'old' hotel with lots of charm. The staff was very pleasant, We would love to come back during the summer months. We recommned it to those who like a building with cahr.

Heating system did not work in our room. The location was far from the city downtown. The hotel was old and the maintnance was poor.

My wife & I stayed at the Gideon years ago. Since then it has been renovated. Also Saratoga Springs has changed. It's become an interesting small N.Y. town.

The Gideon Putnam was very nice and the room was comfortable, however the room smelled, possibly of mildew. We told the staff upon check out and she said they would let housekeeping know about the odor.

Nice venue, however, our room was not available when we went to check in at 4:30pm! We needed to go to dinner first and then come back.

I never take the time to write reviews but this hotel was so exceptionally bad that i just had too. Everything was horrible..smell is awful..room was awful..customer service was uncaring and unhelpful..In short- Stay away.

The Gideon Putnam is located right in the middle of Saratoga Spa State Park. We were there on a beautiful fall weekend and we couldn't have asked for a better location. Also, the hotel lobby is quite nice and the rocking chairs out front offer a pretty view (although it is currently obscured by a bit of construction). I do have to say that we were less […] than impressed by the room itself. Size was fine (although a bit on the smallish side), the beds themselves were comfortable, but the room wasn't particularly clean, the linens and carpet smelled musty, there was mold on the window frames and peeling paint in the bathroom. Not exactly the spa-like atmosphere that I envisioned. Depends on what is most important to you, but I don't think I would stay there again. Devamı

Aside from the spider websiun the closet & bathroom & the old smell in the hallway, they did replace the rock hard pillows with feather ones upon request.

The day I arrived my best friend and I hit the spa. I had scheduled spa services 4 months prior for each day during my stay(4). The young woman working the front desk could not find my appointments because their computer system had recently crashed. She apologized and said that they were booked through the weekend. I was very disappointed with the poor […] customer service from this worker. She gave my friend and I an attitude as if she was already on the defense as soon as she could not find our appointment. I was completely shocked that her response was a brief apology. She expected me to just walk away. After pulling teeth and dealing with someone else they were able to reschedule 3 out of my 4 appointments. The hotel room was a decent size. There was a string of hair left on the hair dryer which was pretty gross, but overall the hotel was nice. Great location! Close drive to town and the racetrack. Short walk to SPAC(enjoyed a show there). My stay at The Gideon Putnam was nice, but I don't think I would go back. Too many little things that slipped through the cracks. What a great place to stay when in Saratoga. Beautiful hotel along with the convenience to downtown and the race track made it an exceptional stay!

Hotel is located insid a state park close to the city of Saratoga. Shuttle bus service to the racetrack and downtown shopping and nice restaurants is provided free of charge.

Bathtub was terrible. Repainted and peeling. Everytime we took a shower or bath, the paint would peel off. For the price we expected better. Pool wasn't opened in the middle of June. Days were warm and would have been nice to go for a swim. We would not go back.

First time in Saratoga Springs. Came in for the Peter Gabriel concert with my wife. We needed a place to stay, something conveniently located near the Performing Arts Center and romantic. Gideon Putnam accomplished both! Great service, super room...next time I am bringing my golf clubs!

The Gideon Putnam is a grand hotel in the Victorian tradition: wide porch complete with chintz-covered rocking chairs, large lobby, helpful staff who know the area and have time to talk about it, etc., but with all the modern conveniences too. Although the Gideon Putnam is in a beautiful location, it is a bit run down. The lobby area was very nice, but the rooms were small and outdated, and the showers had very low pressure. This hotel may have been very nice a long time ago but now it's old and stale. We were supposed to get a room with two queen beds and a pull-out couch but only got one queen and the couch and it was like sleeping on a cot. Great old hotel for peole who are looking to vacation in the Saratoga area. the elevator was out and that was a bit of an issue as I was traveling for business and on a big time clock.

We came up to Saratoga Springs from NYC for a Weekend Getaway and decided to stay at the Gideon Putnam. We have never been there before but I wouldn't consider it anything special. Don't get me wrong, the staff is friendly, the food at the restaurant is okay (they serve quite elaborate Sunday brunch). And if you want to experience a bit old time spa […] feeling from the late 19th century, you can still see it e.g. in the old elevator & service signs...which is kind of neat if you are into photography. The proximity to the Roosevelt Spa is convenient. I understand that it is not easy to e.g. change the plumbing in a building like the Gideon Putnam if is protected by the Historic Trust Foundation but that does not mean that the water in the toilet needs to run 24/7 (not very environmentally friendly, amidst the numerous signs in the bathroom reminding visitors to conserve water???). The noise level was so bad that we could hear the running water through the closed bathroom door. Furthermore, you could just hope that the room was not used very often as the cord of the blow dryer on the wall as well as the vent & trims in the bathroom were covered in dust. I would also recommend to bring your own shampoo & shower gel as none of these were provided. Also, if you want to stay at a quiet hotel, this accommodation might not be for you as we were woken up every morning by neighbors (either talking or flushing toilets, running in the hall). Apparently the wall are very thin. Overall, if we visit the town again, would probably try a different B&B. Devamı

Staff was extremely friendly at both check in and check out. We were very happy with the newly renovated room. Only downfall was, banging coming from upper floor that lasted until 9pm. Location was beautiful.

Not far from Saratoga Springs downtown, relaxed environment. Beautiful surroundings. Few customers during snow season. Good food, a little pricey for the serving size.

This is a great hotel. It's not a modern resort and it doesn't pretend to be. Rather, it's a historic hotel and is appointed accordingly. It was also impeccably clean and the service was great. Not to mention that it's surrounded by the beautiful Saratoga Spa State Park. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.

Nice old hotel. Beautiful surroundings. Peaceful and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend the Roosevelt Spa which was located on the grounds of the resort.

I had a great experience at the Gideon Putnam. The staff was very good and friendly. The room was clean and nicely decorated. It's an old hotel so the heating system was old, but fine. The beds were alright (I'm spoiled by my foam mattress at home). I think only complaint about the room is that since the hotel is old the walls and door are thin. At […] night when people returned from their night out you could hear everything. I blame the people more then the hotel, but just something to be aware of. And lastly, the location was spectacular. In the middle of a beautiful park. A ten minute walk to the spa, five minutes to the ski trail, and minutes beautiful scenery of pines, springs and even a geyser. It was magical that's for sure. Oh, and it's just a 5-10 minute drive to downtown for easy access to restaurants and shopping. Perfect. I had a wonderful time and reccommend it to people unless you are extremely sensitive to noise.
