Don't let the outside fool you, this hotel is very clean and comfortable. The staff is great and the location cannot be beat. The hotel was rooms were recently updated with new carpet, furniture and is really nice. Have stayed here every spring for UCLA events for several years and it's a jewel.

Great location, close to great restaurants. Certainly not a luxury hotel, but it is very comfortable. The rooms are large with great beds and a balcony. Large TV.

Lovely neighbourhood, easy to find just behind the Hammer Museum. General decor of exterior and hotel is shabby and more hostel like. Our room however was spacious and comfortable.

I'm usually suspicious of hotel names with "royal" or "palace" in them but this one did not disappoint. The room was large, clean and well kept. Will definitely go again and recommend it to my friends.

This hotel may not be high-class. Its elevator is old and breakfast service is minimum. However, the staff is kind and friendly. The room is spacious with a small kitchen. The location, which is close to UCLA, is very convenient. As a whole I enjoyed comforable stay here.

This is a nice hotel to stay at. It is a few blocks away from UCLA, and there are many restaurants and businesses walking distance from this hotel. The bed is very comfortable, the units are recently refurbished. We will definitely stay here again if we visit UCLA. everything at the hotel was nice....rooms clean, and comfortable. the only compliant is the parking is horrible. so if you don't need to park then it's an excellent hotel.

Very convenient, clean, comfortable. This is a great place to stay if you need to be near Westwood Village or UCLA.

If you look outside the hotel, you think its an old hotel, but the rooms are amazing. You have a little kitchen, living room, the bedroom and a wonderful bathroom.

Read reviews, yes its a litle outdated, but we were lucky and stayed in a suite. Room was very clean and it was great we had a microwave and frig. Alot of sunlight. Room very clean. Bed very comfortable. Since gas was so expensive it was good to stay close to our son. Very friendly and helpful staff. Alot of street parking. Alot of restaurants nearby […] that are opened late. The hotel had a mixed college apartment / halfway house feel to it. If your travels require you to stay in that area and money is a concern, I suppose it's not a terrible alternative. The room itself was spacious, but the bathroom could have been cleaned more thoroughly, and the bed and bedding were clearly at the end of their useful lives. A quiet, clean and comfortable place with a parking problem. Parking spaces are very small and parking can be in tandem. If you stay there, a small car is desirable. It's a value for your dollar but don't expect more than a basic offering of a clean room. We would look elsewhere the next time we visit Westwood.

We found this hotel to be more than we expected! It more that provided us with a place to rest our heads. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Only one comment - The doors to the room and bath were not wheelchair accessable.

We stay here often...close to UCLA and convenient to restaurants, grocery store, and shops.

My son attends UCLA and early on a friend tipped me off to Royal Palace and I'm so glad she did. It's super convenient and reasonable. The rooms are spacious and always sparkling clean like they've never been inhabited prior to my arrival! The staff is consistently knowledgeable and helpful. Price is right for all of the above amenities.

This hotel is OK for the location, the area (secure) and the quality (it is not a 5*). Parking is a bit small if you have a large car!

The location is outstanding for UCLA and Westwood activities. Our room has been modernized. Parking is very limited, with some on the street parking available. Hallways look like dungeons & are depressing, lobby is quaint, bkfst food selection is minimal. We would stay here again only if other hotels were not available in the Westwood area. The small lobby is a bit quirky, the halls to the rooms are narrow, and the parking spaces are under the building in a side alley and very, very narrow. But open the door to the rooms and it is pure comfort and convenience--and isn't that what you are looking for in a hotel? My destination was UCLA, and the hotel is 2 blocks away, nestled in a residential area, but within walking distance of a business district. The included continental breakfast was in a little room behind the lobby with serve yourself bagels you could toast, a few danish rolls, some fruit (banana or orange}, coffee, and tea, and there were some vending machines with juice and a few other things. It was not a meal, but it was enough to get something in your stomach to get you out the door. I reserved the room at the last minute and got a great discounted price, so I thought it was great value for the money. The parking is bad, but doable, and the rooms are spotless, the beds are comfortable.

Clean room, convenient location. The parking spaces are tight! Breakfast was continental and rated fair. A waffle maker and better coffee would improve it. I would stay there again.

This was a very important stay for our family as our daughter had an audition for college and comfort of room was a must! The room was very comfortable and clean...and the beds afforded our kid a wonderful night's sleep. Close to Restuarants and Westwood Village. All good.

Like others, I was more than a little put-off by the condition of the lobby and the outside of the hotel. But the room was *really* nice and *really* big. Two double beds, a table with four chairs, a little sink, microwave, fridge, and a big TV, and still plenty of room to walk around. It had clearly been recently redone. The neighborhood is great -- within walking distance of a lot of restaurants, UCLA, and a Trader Joe's! My main complaint is that the wifi was not good AT ALL. I stayed at the Royal Palace during an interview at UCLA. It's cheap(ish), comfortable and has the necessary amenities. Do NOT stay here if you're on vacation. My mother had a surgical treatment at 7:30 am on the first work-day of the new year, and the drive from her home in the Inland Empire to the doctor's office would have been daunting, and we would have had to leave about 4:30 am to make sure we were on time. Instead, we stayed at the Royal Palace Westwood. The price was good, and it was located around […] the corner from the office. They were very kind, and allowed me to use their parking area during the procedure, although they certainly didn't have to. Parking can be very expensive in that area. There were many people staying there that had doctor appointments the next day, so I'm sure it is well used. Our room was terrific - the beds were the most comfortable ever! The breakfast was more than adequate and the staff very friendly. The parking is quite cramped, but unlike many guests, we explored to the end of the alley and found that it exits onto a side street. No need to back out of the driveway. The restaurants in the area are excellent, and the […] location near the 405 is extremely convenient. The exterior is not terribly inviting and the lobby very small, but don't let that deter you. Don't be put off by the shabby lobby & corridors. Once inside, the rooms are spotless, comfortable & recently updated. A great bargain for the location -- just steps away from UCLA campus & Hammer Museum.

Though from the outside this 1950-ish hotel looks worn, the rooms have recently been renovated . Our spacious, well equipped room was comparable to one in a much more expensive hotel. The front desk staff is friendly and very helpful - thank you, Robert! Parking, though free, is tight.

For its modest rates, you get a modest hotel close to UCLA on a side-street. It's an older building with signs of age. The corridors are narrow; rooms are adequate size; bathrooms are very small, but have been modernized with lots of tile and new fittings. There's no extra charge for parking, but the spaces are VERY narrow. We were fortunate to receive a free upgrade, and the additional space gave our 5-night stay greater comfort. The location is great in Westwood village, and nice for walking around. Only a block away from the better known "W", this has to be the best kept secret in Westwood. Outside is nothing special, but the room and bathroom (I had a suite) were super clean and comfortable. Room had free WiFi. Breakfast (bagels/toast) and cofee was also included. Bottom line, if you want a clean, comfortable, inexpensive hotel in the middle […] of downtown, this is the place for you. Older, small hotel - clean and comfortable - free parking and walking distance to UCLA medical center. Our room had been remodeled and was quite comfortable.
