Beachcomber Resort & Villas - Pompano Beach

The hotel is footsteps away from the beach, which is great f you are looking for a beach getaway, with lifeguards nearby. They are accessible to the pier where you can fish, or watch the waves at end of pier. Absolutely perfect

Stayed there four nights in early April 2012 and it was great. Would not hesitate to go back. Staff was great, food was very good, pool area really nice and beach access perfect. Building is not new but was in good shape. If you only stay at 5 star properties then it's not for you, but otherwise it is just fine. Many of the online reviews seem overly […] negative. As to floor location, anything 3d or higher has very nice views (I was on 3d). Balconies overlooking pool with very comfortable lounge chairs are a very nice feature. The Beachcomber was a great place for a nice quiet getaway. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and our view was absolutely beautiful. The hotel has excellent beach access and is really close to Ft. Lauderdale and Las Olas Blvd. The pool was really nice and the food was great. The pool bar was awesome and the bartender was very friendly and […] energetic. My only complaint was that the room looked a little outdated, but we didn't spend too much time there anyway. Wonderful hotel! When I made the reservation, I didn't request a room with a balcony. We were immediately disappointed that our room didn't have a balcony. We called the front desk and by the time we took the elevator down to the front desk, they had the paperwork done and handed us the key to our new room. Very friendly and efficient. We checked out after just one night, because it would have been way too depressing to stay for the entire week we booked. The hotel is run-down, furnishings are out of date and unattractive. The wooden shutters on the windows in our room were broken and wouldn't stay open and one sliding door on the closet was stuck so we could only use one side. I was a bit disappointed in my stay given the previous ratings. The service - particularly at the pool and restaurant left a lot to be desired - however the food was good. If you are in a hurry, I would suggest eating elsewhere. While my room was relatively clean, an old contact lens from a previous occupant remained on the bathroom floor for my entire […] stay and the card indicating how you got your sheets changed remained buried in hotel pamplets resulting in not getting clean linens for four days. I do think the hotel did a nice job in renovating but there is an odor that permeated the entire facilty. I would recommend room air fresheners. Devamı

Wonderful place, beautiful, clean and had everything, loved the pool!!! So close to the beach!

They nickel and dime you for everything!!! A neighboring room ordered room service on Wed afternoon....the trays weren't picked up until Friday morning.....really? Bell hops and hotel staff using the "regular" elevator instead of the freight elevator - making for a tight squeeze. Got in too early. Staff Knew it but I had to wait from 10 am to 3 pm for my room.

I certainly would recommend a stay here. Clean, tho our European Room was quite small for my overpacked luggage! Had to turn in towels at 5 pm, but very nice pools and oceanfront. A special word for the kind people at front desk. Thanks to Hotels.com for finding this for us.

The Beachcomber is like stepping back in the past. It isn't the most modern or updated but it is quaint and comfortable. The beach access, pool and Tiki Bar were awesome and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend it and go back there on my next visit to Pompano Beach.

The room was tiny. It had no view. it smelled of mold and mildew. The windows would not open. The carpeting was soaking wet. The bed was too soft. The bathroom tub did not drain. The bathroom had no fan. "Third world" type room.

I stayed at this hotel in 2011 for business so returned this year. My previous stay was great. This year, it was a total disappointment. The stay started with a room without a working TV. After nearly 5 hours of trying to get it working and repeatedly telling me there were no other rooms, they moved me to a different room. guess one miraculously appeared. […] The new room wasn't exactly dirty but wasn't what I would call clean. There were bits of debris under the bathroom cabinet and smudges on the furniture. The microwave had a huge chunk out of the door so I wasn't sure it was safe to use. The noise was TERRIBLE. I didn't get more than 2 hours of sleep at a time for any of the nights I was there. Every morning around 5 AM there were what must have been employees in the hallway making a lot of noise. One morning, I walked into the restaurant at opening and no one was there. I asked at the desk and they said it was open. After waiting for nearly 15 minutes, under the watchful eye of the desk clerks, I went back and asked them to call the kitchen. That should have been done when I originally asked. Over half the times I returned to my room, my key didn't work and I had to go to the desk to have them reprogrammed. When I checked out, no one inquired if my stay was satisfactory - Hospitality 101 folks!! Don't think I'll be going back next year. Devamı

beautiful views from the balcony, right on the beach. but, huge bedroom, comfy bed, very big closet, tiny awkward bathroom. air conditioner made banging noises most of night. overall, good location and views and large rooms, but in need of basic updating and maintenance.

You can not beat the price and location of this Pompano beach hotel. The oceanfront room provides a beautiful southward view of the ocean. It was quiet during the week, on the weekend a piano player for entertainment. A little bit dated and dark in color decor, but still the Tommy Bahama look was tropical and pleasent. The room was plenty big with refrig […] and microwave. Inexpensive laundry. 2 pools and beach cabanas were perfect for lounging. This family owned business treat their employees well. They were replacing one of 2 elevators which did not cause any problems. I saw the maintance man keeping busy with painting and repairs. Looks wonderful online doesn't it? It isn't!!! Musty smell throughout the hotel and in the rooms, (You do get used to the smell after a couple of days). Old torn and dirty carpeting, furnishings and mattresses in this old hotel. We even had to wear our shoes in the room so our feet wouldn't touch the filthy carpeting. Also, very poor service from the […] staff. Surprisingly, nobody on the staff seems to really care if your stay is enjoyable or not. For one example, my wife and I booked an oceanfront room with a private balcony in this 7 floor hotel 3 months before our anniversary. When we arrived, we were given a 2nd floor oceanfront room and we discovered that ocean views are completely obstructed by palm trees in all the oceanfront rooms below the 5th floor. As a result, the desk clerk put us in an ocean view "suite" (just a slightly larger room) on the side of the hotel with a communal balcony for the 1st night and he told us that he would review the bookings and try to get us into a higher oceanfront floor our next 2 nights. He said if he couldn't make that happen, he would still reserve our original 2nd floor room and it would be available to us in the morning.. The next morning however, we were told that no oceanfront rooms were available - not even our original 2nd floor room! And lucky us... they weren't even going to charge us more! The hotel manager also said that we weren't being "truthful" when we explained what the desk clerk had promised us the night before..We were very disappointed with this hotel and with our stay here. We were actually happy to leave. FYI... There are 100s of other nicer and newer oceanfront hotels to choose from in this beautiful area. Our recommendation is that you not waste your vacation or your special celebration like we did at this hotel!!! Devamı

the hotel was very nice and clean. it has a great location on the beach. the staff did a great job on the beach and at thebar and lunch area around the pool. steve the bartender did a great job with drinks and keeping us laughing most of the day he was so funny and a great guy. we will stay at this resort whenever we go to south fl.

Very nice because it's an older hotel and still privately owned and run by the family. I will never stay anywhere else in the Pompano area. Get an ocean facing room. (The "European" rooms really are a closet.) The balcony to the Atlantic is only surpassed by a walk along the beach. Had a problem with our original room we were given as it had some water damage....they immediately accomodated us with an upgraded room. Worked out awesome!! We had a much better view and a kitchenette. I would definitely stay here again!!!

Overall this hotel was a nice place, showing some age, but a very good deal. Only one of the 2 elevators was in service - the second one being worked on for all 3 days of our visit. Many times there were long waits, and often the repair crews were using the elevator and NOT the service elevator which was nearby. The shower took 5+ minutes to produce […] hot water and after just a few minutes, you were standing in water 6" deep as the drains need serious work. We had one day to spend at the beach. We were happy we stayed at this hotel. It was our first visit. The hotel is right on the beach. We stayed in the least expensive room, I believe they call it the queen size room for the bed. The room was plenty big for the two of us. The beds were great and the hotel top notch through out. Staying at the Beachcomber was such a treat. The hotel and it's surrounding landscaping is tropical and lovely. I would definately recommend the balcony rooms over the pool deck, as they seem renovated and the view overlooking the ocean and the pool is spectacular. The villas require @ least a 2 night stay, so we may try that next time. The heated pool […] was a bit chilly, but the kids enjoyed it. The beautiful beach is just a few steps from the pool area, and our beach service was friendly and fun. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant, as were the cleaning staff and the bar staff. We found the actual restaurant service to be a bit grumpy, although all of our meals were very delicious. The prices at the hotel and it's restaurant were very reasonable and there is no charge for parking or resort fees! There's a 24 hour sundries shop across the street, next to a pizza restaurant, so there's no need to drive. I noted that our room was spotles; no dust, no stains, no debris in the bathroom corner. My family and I cannot wait to stay again, the kids thought it was wonderful, too! I can honestly say that this was the best hotel for the best price that we've stayed in. Devamı

Highly recommend the Beachcomber. Consistently excellent service, and if anything goes wrong, they WILL do right by the customer. We stay here all the time, 4-5x a year.

After reading other reviews, we didn't know what to expect. What a pleasant surprise the Beachcomber turned out to be. Although the hotel is a bit older, it was charming and provided all the comfort we desired. The balcony was superb. Wonderful oceanfront balcony room, super view, fun Tiki Bar by pool, very good reasonable food, very friendly staff. For upscale dining, try Sea Watch, just South of hotel. Area on A1A not the greatest but walking the beach very nice. Will stay again if I can. Spent 3 nights with family before a cruise.

For the price, the hotel, with it's great location was worth the price. Parking is free, internet free, and the beach is free. Nice swimming pools, and great food. Complaints: Only real complaint was the bathroom and tub was a bit dirty, with stnading water in the tub when taking a shower. The European room had no view, but the price was right. Complements: […] Loctation, Location, Location. Right on the beach, close to great food and shopping, bus route to take you anywhere. Swimming pools were clean and warm. The food was great. Happy hour everynight with super nice servers and a nice (older) atmosphere. The avaerage customer age was probably 55-60. Overall: If your looking for a low cost resort, on the beach, older, quiter customer base, with food and drinking available, do not hesitate to check out the Beachcomer resort. Devamı

This is a great place to stay. The staff are extra friendly and helpful. The room had new furnishings but the planing fixtures and electrical are worn and out dated. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this resort.

You can't beat the location, right on the beach. The pool was very nice and the overall appearance of the hotel was nice. Concierge was very helpful and personable. Parking is a concern, very limited and tight quarters. Had to consistantly park across the street. The internet "happened" to be down. When we booked this hotel, we were expecting a 3* per the rating on the website I used. I have been to many 3* professionally and personally, and I think this one is a cut above the others. Why? Large King room; great room with ocean front view large balcony; very good, honest kitchen / restaurant; very attentive and friendly hotel staff; speedy check-in […] and check-out. The beach location and pool area are very comfortable, as are the balconies with new furniture if you prefer to lay low one morning, have breakfast in your room (on balcony) and enjoy the sun and the Atlantic ocean view. Per my earliest comment, this is probably a 3 * because it is older, and although some renovations are clear, it would probably need some more to get up to a 4*...but this is undoubtedly the best and most honest 3* I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great room and very good food in Pompano Beach. Devamı

I recently stayed here and really enjoyed myself. They said they were remodeling and we might hear noise so they gave us free breakfast vouchers and drinks at the pool bar, but we never heard a thing! The food was great and the layout of the property was cool, the little walkways and lush landscaping made it feel exotic! My only suggestion is that the […] blinds on the windows should be floor to ceiling variety and cable tv was a bit shaky but they warned us of that due to upgrades. Older, but very well kept hotel. Our beachfront room on the 5th floor was obstructed by palm branches though. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. For the price, would definately stay here again.

Small room

This hotel needs a serious makeover. The hotel is falling apart. The elevator felt like it wanted to drop several floors and most of the walls on the building were cut out exposing wires inside the walls. Other than that the staff was friendly and the room was clean with a great view looking over the beach though.

Hotel was in the process of being renovated when I stayed. Somethings were still left to be done in the room but it was very clean. I always carry antibacterial wipes to clean the room before settling in & I found everything to be quite clean. The only item missing from the room was the TV remote but I didn't watch TV much during my stay. My room had […] new furniture, a long closet with a tall drawer chest in the closet. Bed, bedding & pillows all new & very comfortable. New carpet in the room as well. My room had a view of the adjacent buildings balconies. The pool area is very nice & it was easy to access the beach. Beautiful beach area to enjoy. Plenty of parking even though the hotel was full & short walk even from the farthest parking space. I would definitely recommend if you don't mind construction work going on. I didn't hear any noise from construction or elevators & I was on the 4th floor next to elevators. Devamı
