Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center - Grapevine

My wife wanted a weekend away to do nothing. And we went to the Gaylord hotel because they have shops and dining on property. She was very happy with the hotel and we both had a great time there.

The Gaylord Texan is an incredible hotel. The grounds are beautiful; as advertised, it includes a wine vineyard, swimming pools, outdoor fireplaces, a jogging/walking path, coffee shops, night club, bars, lounges, multiple restaurants, and winding walkways that meander throughout the property. The hotel's property is very large and conveniently attached […] to its convention center. It was easy to get to/from my hotel room and the meeting areas each day. Food at the Smoke House restaurant is out of this world and is a must for any business travelers; small children and families are not well suited for this high-end venue. At the Smoke House I had the best rib eye steak of my life and a habenero creamed corn side dish that I am still dreaming about one week later. This particular restaurant is very expensive but well worth it for a special occassion or nice night out. My room was large, clean and comfortable. Check-in/out was fast and convenient. The only disappointment with my trip was the surrounding neighborhood: the downtown historic area was instantly forgetable and the nearby outlet mall offerred nothing either. In the future, I won't waste my time exploring these other areas... the hotel property offers all of the luxury and convenience that I need. I can't wait to go back! Devamı

It was prom night for one of the local schools - which was kind of fun to see all the girls dresses, BUT -- we had a loud group of teens in the room next to us that we had to call security about in the middle of the night. Our family decided last minute to book at Gaylord Texan and we were blown away from the moment we walked in. Our kids (15 and 12) had a good time and we had tons of stuff to do. We did not leave the Texan for the entire stay because we were so busy taking photos, swimming, and eating at the GREAT restaurants. They do NOT tell you ahead of time they are charging $18 to use the pool and fitness center. Come to find out it also includes the 2 water bottles in room that we did NOT drink. This was a perfect getaway for the weekend. The hotel had great restaurants, night life, and is close to tons of local activities.

We were very disappointed in our stay. We stayed on the 4th floor and experienced a very strong sewage smell. The front desk said that they had engineering looking into and they offered to have house keeping bring us an air freshner. The room had visually standing dust on and in the tv stand. It was a beautiful hotel but a bit overpriced for the night. We planned to do a few activities in the morning however most things did not open till after 11. There were a lot of younger children up early in morning and Santa did not come till 11 and the gingerbread cookies decorating did not open till noon. The room decor and amenities were not what one would expect for an expensive resort. Further, the walls are paper thin. We could her normal volume speaking from the adjacent room as though they were in our room. We were also rudely awaken to children whining early in the morning. When addressed with the front desk, they simply apologized and explained […] that the walls were thin. Not exactly a remedy of our poor experience. We will never stay at this hotel again. The atrium area is worth checking out for a day, but be sure to stay elsewhere. Devamı

this hotel used to be a favorite of ours, but the last few trips if has transformed into a Disneyland feel. They have changed their target customer to families with little children. not that i have any problems with being around children.... i do not, but just be aware it is full of families with small children and you will be pleased. if you prefer […] to have a more adult crowd you need to stay at another hotel. the facility is beautiful! rooms... pretty average. TOO CROWDED AND WAITED TWO HOURS TO EAT IN THEIR RESTAURANTS. THEN THE FOOD WAS AVERAGE. DIFFICULT TO MOVE AROUND INSIDE BECAUSE OF THE OVERCROWDING OF RESORT. TOO BUSY AT CHECK OUT TO GET HELP WITH OUR BAGS. NOT FUN. NOT RELAXING. WE WILL NOT RETURN. NOT MY IDEA OF A RESORT. DMG

The Gaylord is a great hotel - it's a bit massive and overwhelming, but very impressive! Our only issue was that we checked in around midnight (I had prepaid through Expedia for the room and it was guaranteed to be held for us), and we were told that they had overbooked and the room we reserved wasn't available. They offered to put is in an upgraded […] room for one night, but we would have to move rooms on the next night. It all worked out, but were just frustrated because the guy checking us in kept saying "one second" and would go back to the office for several minutes - only to return, try a few things on the computer, and then go back to the office again. Finally, he told us about the overbooking. The "upgraded" room was a bit of joke - it was the same as the other room, it just had a balcony facing the atrium - which was actually annoying because it was so loud with all the people out there. We were frustrated the next day to have to take extra time to move our room, but when my husband talked to the manager, she was very nice and paid for our valet parking for both days and promised to send cake balls to the room. The next frustration was that while we were gone for dinner, they delivered the cake balls,but somehow deactivated our keycard, too. So when we came back, we couldn't get into the room. We had to wait for security 10 minutes to come let us in - he said it appeared in the computer that we had "checked out that day, but he would handle it." Devamı

I know its the holidays, and lots of people in the hotel looking at decorations or the ICE Exhibit, but the place was under staffed. We tried to eat dinner at the Italian Rest in the Atrium, and after waiting two hours, we finally gave up because we had our 4 yr old grandson with us. We headed to the room to eat room service pizza at 9:15 at nite.... […] My problem is that the restaurant appeared to have open tables, people standing in line with us that were over an hour past their reservation time, and three young ladies standing at the podium just looking great (because thats all they were doing is looking great) and not helping anyone in line.... I will visit again next year, but drive back home without staying.... Devamı

Had a great stay! We never really had to leave resort. The staff was incredibly accommodating. Our first night we got very little sleep due to our loud neighbors. The hotel quickly changed our room the next morning and were very nice and helpful. Staff was great start to finish - will go back.

Grounds and River Walk are extremely beautiful. Rooms were very disappointing with poor quality mattresses and paper thin walls. We felt like we were sleeping in the middle of a daycare with all the crying babies and screaming kids and doors slamming over and over. Food at on site restaurants was horrible and tasteless. We stayed on a Saturday night during the Christmas season, and the lobby was unbelievably crowded at all hours. Do not book this hotel at this time of year unless you don't mind TONS of small children running around. While the Christmas decorations were nice, they were not as spectacular as we had envisioned. The hotel itself was nice, but the room […] was nothing out of the ordinary. We had to call and request our "complimentary" newspaper in order to receive it. The staff was very friendly and valet parking was efficient and fast. At checkout, they had no record of our stay already being paid for through Hotels.com and I was glad I had a hard copy of my receipt with me. This was our first time at the Gaylord Texan. It was wonderful! The Christmas decorations in the atrium were spectacular! Two coffee shops, a wine bar, the list just goes on and on...the only negative I can find was that there was a "resort fee" added to the room upon check out. for the amount of money I thought the bed would have been more comfortable, i thought the cleaning service should have supplied clean bath linens each day, it was very noisy when trying to sleep, the resort was much smaller than I thought it would be

The Gaylord is an experience all in itself! We only stayed 1 night just so we could go to an NFL game but wish we could have stayed longer. Although we didn't have them with us I know the kids would have loved this place.

The service every where in this hotel is just immaculate! I felt like a celebrity with all the staff catering to our every need. It was breathtaking!!! Lots of things to do and the food was just so divine. Everything was above our expectations and we just enjoyed every moment.

We had one of the larger rooms on 9th floor overlooking the entrance it was very comfortable. The resort is very well done and there are plenty of differenct places for dining and for drinks. Grapevine is a nice small town to visit while at the resort.

Parking is a bit of a hassle. Even more so because my fiance is handicap. Although we had stayed here before for a wedding, I was rushed this time at check in although no one else was there checking in...? The Gaylord Texan is one of the better places I have stayed in. DO NOT though, stay at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. Having stayed in places all […] over the world, I had the most awful weekend of my life there. On top of all the trouble we experienced we never even got a response from them concerning that weekend. I even wrote the CEO and still nothing. Beautiful resort. However, we did not have any drawer space to put our clothes! We had a closet for hanging clothes, but that was it! We had to put clothes in the bedside tables. Our room overlooked the valet parking and for what we paid for it, I was very disappointed. We had dinner at one of the restaurants and it was very disappointing. Great hotel! Only problem is that you need a car. It is in a remote area and hotel transportation is very expensive (only because everything is so far away). If you are attending a convention and do not intend to shop Dallas or attend a football game, then this is a great place to stay.

The only thing, that i was disappointed about it was a room without the view. I thought i booked one facing the inside the hotel. The next day after I booked it I saw the room without the view (facing out) and it was cheaper, but i didn't change the RSVP, because I thought I alreadyI reserved one with a view (facing inside) The guy at front desk was […] not very friendly, when I checked in, but the girl was extremely friendly when I checked out. I and my 15 y/o daughter loved the water park! Service around the river was impeccable from a young guy, who was always smiling. Service when we sit down to eat was horrible, waitress (she was from Estern Europe) was keep cleaning tables, while I and my daughter and 2 other couples were waiting to be served.
