Housekeeping Camp - Yosemite Ulusal Park

Housekeeping camp is great for people who aren't traveling with a tent but who want to camp in Yosemite. My husband and our three kids (9, 11, and 13) stayed there for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. Each housekeeping camp unit has three solid walls and a canvas roof and patio awning. Inside the structure is a two-bed bunk, a full-sized bed, and a metal […] mesh shelf. On the patio is a fixed picnic table with attached chairs and a food preparation shelf (covered with stainless steel). Each unit has its own bear box (where you must store your food at all times when you are not eating or preparing it). You can rent bedding very inexpensively ($2.50 per day for a bedpack that has 2 sheets, 2 blankets, 2 pillows, and 2 pillowcases). We rented a cot for our 11 year old daughter -- it was the biggest cot I have ever seen -- and quite sturdy (it looked brand new -- as did the mattresses -- which were fine). The restrooms, showers, and camp store are close by. You can bike or hike all around Yosemite Village from Housekeeping Camp. We stayed there at the end of April, so it was in the 40's/50's at night -- so we brought our space heater and one electric blanket (in addition to our sleeping bags). Because of the canvas roof, the heat didn't really stay in the "tent" -- but it was a bit warmer inside than it was outside. The rates are not cheap (about twice what we paid at Motel 6 the week before) -- but the location makes it worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful. Devamı

I was very impressed with the customer service and even more impressed when the clerk moved my friend and I next to the river so we could have a nicer view. The actual camp site for each group was clean, featured a convenient food locker so animals would stay clear of your food and each room has two lights; one outside by the table and one inside the […] room. There are three beds to allow for space and there is a nice metal shelf for all and everything you might have packed with you. If you forget blankets or pillows? No worries! They have reasonably priced rentals right by the check in booth. The bonfire pit was simple to use and placed far enough away from the room so the smoke wouldn't interfere with your items. It's close enough to camping since the front door of your room is only a tarp. Checking in and out couldn't be easier and the store located right next to the check in booth proved to be perfectly useful for my friend and I. They have fair pricing with their products and the staff has an all-around great sense of humor, so every encounter avoids being dull or drab. The site itself is right next to a bridge that leads to another part of the park and makes it convenient for picnics or reading by the river if you want to calm down from site-seeing. Devamı

First time camper? Nothing better than this. As an added benefit, there's a picnic table and a firepit for each unit. Only reason I didn't give this review a 5 is coz the tent itself could use come cleaning. The entire area is filled with trees so keep the area dingy and cold. Although it does make it better during the summer, in the fall...it's odd […] that it's a good 15 deg colder. Devamı

After cancelling our first nights stay and being told this was fine, we checked-in the following day. Upon check-in we were told the balance was paid and everything was settled. We were never told we had to collect bedding and pay extra for this. Finding this out meant asking other guests and returning to reception, very poor. 3 days after leaving the […] campsite we were charged again for a nights stay. Numerous unanswered e-mails and telephone calls later we have still not received our money back for paying twice. I am very disappointed with the poor customer service here. We spent 2 days camping and 2 days at Housekeeping camp. It had a great feel to it. But for us we would rather camp. The room had cob webs and spiders. When we arrived we were greeted by about 25 Squirrels! I did like the fact we had a nice table under a tarp and a high bench (but the squirrels would climb on)...

This was a bare bones shelter but perfect for the Yosemite experience. The tent provided electric and mattresses. Bedding was an additional couple of bucks. Location was on the valley bed leaving you in awe of the views. Shelters were in a walking distance to the buses which drop you off at various locations throughout the park. This is primitive camping. There is electric,one plug in and one outside. Beds are foam two inches thick on twin bunks and five or so on full bunk. Quiet hours ten pm to six am are enforced each unit has a nice patio with picnic table and fire pit with grill. They have ice but expensive per bag. Bear proof food lockers that must be used at all times […] great friendly staff and nice place to start a family tradition. Buses available to go all over the park. Suggest bring a full cooler of ice or one of those plug ins and sleep bags not sheets can rent bedding and chairs for cheap. It is 36 miles to get into the park area or a one hour drive once you reach the boundary from an outside city for time and gas cost worth staying on the inside loop. Housekeeping camp is a great way to go camping without the fuss of setting up a tent. I would only recommend staying here when it's warm out since there is no way to keep the heat in, but this hotel is exactly as expected. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but there was a lot of confusion regarding where to return rented equipment if checking […] out early and where to get towels for the shower. Overall, Yosemite is absolutely amazing and it is a must to stay within the park if possible. Devamı

This is an outdoor camping experience. We where on a motorcycle it was extremely nice to be able to rent pillows and chairs with backs to sit in. We are discussing going back soon!

Since we were flying from Chicago to Cali to go to Yosemite, we couldnt pack too much camping stuff. This is the best thing to do if you want to be outside but not necessarily sleep on the floor in a tent or if you can't bring all the necessities with you. This is a nice alternative to camping, bring a space heater, there are electrical outlets. Only complaint is its close to main road which is noisy and the boiler in the showers makes noise all night. So if you bring earplugs and are prepared for cold at night it's fine. It was very nice. I will highly recommend to anyone. Mattress and bed pad was not clean, But we brought our pick nick sheets & sleeping bags so we did not mind. There is a pit outside that you can make your own fire 5-10pm. ( fire wood was about $8 at the shop right at the camp. This store opens at 8am (to 7pm) and they sale everything. you can even […] buy a cup of coffee or tea in the morning) Shower room was very clean and they have soap and shampoo. laundry matt is there also. If you do no bring anything, they rent bath towels and blanket.( $2.50) After 10pm is a quiet time and everyone was pretty quiet. It was right in the heart of the yosemite valley, so after you get to the camp, free bus will take you to everywhere. I would like to go back again!! Devamı

great place to be if you like camping, but still like a bed to sleep in. Only thing is that you might want to take a blanket or two with you as the blankets you get are not enough to keep the cold away

Très bien situé, au coeur du parc de Yosemite. Expérience à vivre, logement qui change des motels et qui rapproche de la nature.

Soy montañero, por lo que he dormido en tiendas, refugios, incluso sobre la roca. Yosemite una maravilla. Pero,cuidado. No con los osos, con Housekeeping. Los paquetes de sábana y manta se pagan aparte. Acepto que el sendero tenga baches y no haya iluminación (en los baños, sí -?-). Paso que se llegue con el coche hasta la tienda. Pero la "chabola" […] no tiene nombre. Dos camastros con el colchón forrado de plástico y una alacena de madera que debió pertenecer a Jeremiah Johnson. El refugio se "cierra" con dos paños triangulares de la misma lona-hule de la tienda y dos cintas ( ya sabemos que los osos no saben deshacer lazadas). Creo que por el precio se podía ofertar una choza de madera de las que se pueden encontrar en otros Parques y seguro que se puede adquirir una tienda y acampar en un camping. Es mejor alternativa. Por cierto, la tienda cierra a las 6 p.m., de modo que si, haciendo caso omiso de mi advertencia, elegís ir, llevad comida, sólo podréis comprar bebidas isotónicas en la máquina que hay junto a recepción. Es kostet leider zu viel. Die Lage ist zwar toll, direkt im Park, aber die Cabins (Zelte), sind nicht sauber und man kann sie nicht gut zumachen. Die Nachtruhe wird nicht eingehalten. Die Feuerstellen machen mehr Rauch als Feuer...Es werden Decken und Kissen für 2.50 $ angeboten, dies ist ok, da es warm hält. Nous avons séjourné 1 nuit au Housekeeping Camp. Attention, ce n'est pas une chambre d'hôtel mais une sorte de tente en dur, avec prise électrique et interupteur. Le sol sous le lit (avec matelas) n'est pas vraiment balayé, alors si vous chercher le confort et n'êtes pas dans une optique "camping", passez votre chemin. Les lits ne sont pas confortables, […] il n'y a pas de porte mais une sorte de rideau en plastique à tirer et à accrocher. C'est vraiment basique et rudimentaire. Les toilettes (à côté) ne sont pas super propres, mais pas dégoutantes non plus. Par contre, les douches sont OK. En résumé : si vous cherchez à passer une nuit dans la nature, au contact des écureuils, dans une ambiance camping : cet endroit est fait pour vous. Par contre, si vous cherchez un endroit propre et confortable, passez votre chemin. Mon conseil : lampe de poche obligatoire pour la nuit, ainsi que des vêtements chauds (sac de couchage si vous pouvez). Un mot pour qualifier tout ça : rustique :) Devamı

No hay que engañarse sobre lo que es, es un camping en el que te ahorras el tener que montar la tienda. El problema es que el precio es abusivo para lo que se ofrece. La ubicación es muy buena dentro de Yosemite Valley y levantarse en el entorno natural que es, no tiene precio!

Straks vi så vores "hytte" besluttede vi, at her ville vi ikke være overhovedet. Var klar over hjemmefra, at vi havde booket en "hytte", men det var meget ulækkert og ikke for sarte sjæle, så vi fandt et andet sted at overnatte.

Aucun confort. La chambre était inondee. Elle ne ferme pas. Du coup il fait froid la nuit. Les matelas sont bouffés par l'humidité. Nous deconseillons cette hôtel.

es ist kein Hotel sondern ein Camp, aber das weiß man ja.

La primera impresión fue terrible, sensación de suciedad general, las mantas que te ofrecian, previo pago, con un montón de pelos, en mí caso, me fui a dormir al coche. Relación calidad precio carísimo.

Si vous allez à Yosemite il faut rester dans le parc, d'une pour l'ambiance et l'atmosphère et aussi pour éviter la route. J'y retournerai.

コスト、快適さ、立地共素晴らしいです。またブランケット、タオルなど全て用意されています。またトイレ、シャワーも常に清潔に保たれていまして、ホテルなどをイメージしなければ何も問題ないかと。また日本みたいに観光地ショップもここぞとばかりに高額で無く非常に快適です。ナショナルパークに対する日本とアメリカの力の入れようの違いを感じるでしょう。

Camping plutôt qu'hôtel. Tente pour quatre : un mur et le reste en toile, un lit double et un superposé. Assez spartiate (il faut faire soi-même son lit avec les couvertures louées) mais original, au coeur du parc à un prix cher pour ce qu'on a mais abordable. Cela évite la longue route vers Oakhurst ou Mariposa. Bien se couvrir, la fin de nuit est […] fraîche ! Il n'y a pas tant d'ours que ce qu'on dit. Pas de déjeuner ni d'internet évidemment. Hvis man ønsker komfort, er dette ikke stedet. Men hold da op en naturoplevelse!! Man overnatter stort set midt i det naturskønne Yosemite (Valley) i et ret primitivt telt - dog med vægge på 3 sider og teltdug over og ved indgangen. Eget bord/bænke sæt, bålplads, bjørnesikret opbevaringsbox, en dobbeltseng og en køjeseng, som begge var ok. Sengelinned […] kan lejes for ganske få dollars (tror det var ca. 6 dollars for 3 sæt til en overnatning) og man får en billet til badet, som er ganske fint (camping-standard) med shampoo/bodyshampoo og håndklæde inkluderet. En rigtig fin måde for os at opleve området på, da vi kun havde tid til en enkelt overnatning. Devamı

Un camping, rien de plus, mais un camping dans yosemite valley, un peu léger niveau propreté. Mais proche de la nature, la nuit, cacher la nourriture, les ours rôdent, trace de pattessur la voiture, ours dans le camping ... bref une superbe éxpérience, vraiment à faire ... Je conseil vivement a tout le monde

il faut être conscient qu'il s'agit ni plus ni moins que d'une tente avec douche commune. rajouter 2.5 dollars pour avoir des draps et couverture pour 2. Une des seules adresses pour loger dans le parc et du coup le prix est fort élevé pour la qualité mais tout est néanmoins propre et la situation est très bonne.
