Royal Decameron Club Caribbean All Inclusive - Runaway Bay

This was our second time at Royal Decameron Club. Since the last time we were here, the food, alcohol and quality of the beach have improved. The entertainment is still teetering - why have people come all the way to Jamaica and play no good reggae chunes????

I had a wonderful time. The staff (reception, waiters, chef, bar) were friendly, courteous, professional and very helpful. It was a delight staying in the courtyard room, but next time I am going to try the garden cottages. The entertainment was simply world class. I was blown away. My mom, my 3 year old son and I checked in at about 2:30pm, we were told the room wasn't ready but we could go to lunch, that was fine since check-in is at 3pm. We had lunch and returned to the front desk at 3:15 our room was ready. A bellman came and took our stuff to the cottage, the room appeared clean. The only drawback was the floor never seemed […] like it was wet wipe it was on the dusty side. Besides that all was wonderful. I didn't see the kids activity, i didn't ask for it as the age ranges from 4 _up, i think it should include younger kids. Our cottage never had an outside light and we were way in the back. And man the dogs next door are horrible with barking however once you fall asleep you don't hear them. The food has a wide variety but it lacked flavor and dessert was not the nicest. I took my mom and grandma to Royal Decameron Hotel for mothers day,our stay @ the hotel was grate we enjoy ourself and the entertainment crew two tumps up for them. The entertainment make a difference in my stay,mom and grandma had a ball!! they wish they didnt have to leave. The quality of the food is good everything i had was perfect. "The food taste […] good" only problem is u have very little options to choose from. Special big up goes to Jason, Junior,Princess and Candy also Dave and chedder fr the front desk. I've stayed in Montego Bay and Runaway Bay over 8 times. This hotel is my favorite. It's not a mega-big resort....very relaxing and spread out. The cottages or the suite building are best. AVOID THE COURTYARD ROOMS....they are simplified hotel rooms and not nearly as nice as the courtyard bungalow or the all-suite building. We actually had to stay at there next door hotel, Decameron Fun Carribean. The Club Carribean a sewage problem. The beach at Fun Carribean was small and not nice. The property overall was not impressive. The employees were nice and the vacation was good, but I wouldn't recommend this resort.

This was our third stay there. Our stays before this were four and five years ago. We loved the place this time just as much as we had in the past. The cottages were cozy and clean. We were on the east side of the resort at first and it was rather noisy, so we changed our cottage to the west side, and it was wonderful. The food and drinks were very […] good. Although we saw some things more than once in the ten nights we were there, we were always able to find something we liked. The desserts were excellent. The Mento band at noon was fun and we danced after lunch a few times. The house band at night was great and we did a lot of dancing to them also. The cottage arrangement was unique and a welcomed difference. Once you get inside the hotel you are no longer aware of the surroundings. The Entertainment team worked extremely hard to keep us entertained.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Royal Decameron Club Carribbean! Everyone was very friendly and made us feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door, especially the fun crew (Scooby, Crazy, Nemo, Candy, Princess, and Baby Rasta)! We went for our anniversary, but there were a few families as well. We never had difficulty finding spot on […] the beach or wait to be seated at a restaurant. It is a small resort, so several staff will recognize you after a couple of days. The cottages provided a lot of privacy, and was quite peaceful through the night (except for the mornings they sprayed for bugs). This only happened twice at 6:30am, but was very quick. The food was good, even my "picky-eater-of-a-husband" never went hungry and the buffet rotated themes every night so that they aren't serving the same foods over and over. The hotel has an overall relaxed atmosphere, but there were plenty to do for the active lifestyles as all motorized and non-motorized activities are included. You could definitely relax by the sea or experience a variety of Jamaica has to offer... several famous sights to see are within 30-45 minutes from this resort (Dunns River Falls, Martha Brae River, Mystic Mountain Adventure, Nine Mile)! Advice- See the travel reps the morning after you arrive to set up any tours you may do... our representative only worked 9:30-12:00, and some tours do not run everyday! Too many problems to list and as each one was reported, staff said they would report it and nothing was ever done. Phone to front desk did not work and when I was locked out of my room in the pouring rain for 45 minutes the reason given for staff not to come up to my room was that they had no umberella and it was raining. It rained the entire time I was at the hotel. There was water every where the walk way was flooded but what impressed me was how quickly they cleaned up after the rain. Where did the water go I asked ?? The room was huge so much space, the bed was soft and nice with a warm comforter for the evenings when it got cold. Across the street there was a club loud music one night I could not sleep until 3am...next day i had to get up at 7 to go to a tour....i stayed at the building where the suites are, if someone comes out from the doors on one side..you would wake up because its always loud. Our stay at Royal Decameron Club Caribbean was great, I reserved bungalow, it was spacious, clean; the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was my boyfriend's birthday and they helped to organized a surprise for him. The food was good, The surroundings excellent. Hoping to return again soon. He loved the quietness of the place.

After reading about 50 reviews, we decided to give this place a try. We were not disapointed at all. The staff was exceptional, always on top of things. We picked a villa for our stay and it was the best choice. They are cute with vaulted bamboo ceilings, a full closet and complete bathroom. They have separate entrances with a small terrace and hammocks. […] Quite the privacy. There's an adult only pool which was directly behind our villa and we were a few steps to the beach. Unlike some places where you have to walk through the entire resort to get to the beach, this place has access to the beach from all angles. That was perfect. The only complaint my husband had (I really didn't care much) was that the bars (there are three) had very little to pick from. No vodka, no tequila, therefore no exotic drinks! The food was good but I did notice that breakfast was the same thing 6 days straight. Besides that, we had a great time. Devamı

Beautiful property, hotel rooms need renovating. Need better cooks and variety in authentic Jamaican breakfast cuisine. Internet connection was badly lacking, if you are connected for 5 mins straight you are lucky. Room towels and restaurant napkins need to be replaced. Hotel has so much potential, just needs some work.

I had a fantastic time at Royal Decameron club carribean! I have been very unwell and I went for recuperation, and I feel so much better as I didn't need to worry about a thing. Just relaxing and eating good quality food! I will definetly recommend this hotel to friends and family! I stayed in the garden view cottages and they were absolutely beautiful, […] well maintained, loved all the fruit trees in the gardens and the hammocks around the property, simply stunning. Rooms needed painting and the bathroom needed updating. Toilet did not flush properly and the general condition of the bathroom was substandard. The food was horrible! This hotel is very nice. The staff were very friendly and courteous. The hotel grounds are very well maintained. The only problem I'd say is that they should have offered more Jamaican dishes for the Jamaica Independence.

When I first contacted Royal Decameron I was interested in whether there was an adults only swimming area. They said yes, however, when we got there kids were playing all around the pool area. While the rooms were clean, there was much to be desired in the quality of the room. There was light coming through the doors and the roof shingles. The shower […] curtain was place too far into the tub area so that it stuck to you as you showered. There wasn't a refrigerator in the room. They provided 1 liter of drinking water for a 1 week stay. The WIFI to get internet service did not always work and the service was out for 2 and a half days. The food was so mediocre to bad that we hated to go at meal time towards the end. There was hardly any taste to the desserts. The salad dressings were very watery and did not taste very good. We often had to get our own coffee or water. Service in the dining area was below par for even a 2 star hotel. We talked to people who had been there many times and they said that they would not be back. Entertainment was awful. Firstly, the rate was very good. The reception was excellent. Though our room was a little away from the general activities, we liked the quietness of the courtyard. Admirable cleanliness and upkeep of facilities. Friendly, helpful and courteous staff. Hotel amenities on the whole are quite comfortable. Centrally located on the main highway to Montego Bay. The stay was very enjoyable for two days.

CONS: Cleanliness and condition of rooms (roaches, ants, mold, leaky roof, low or no water pressure), Poor general upkeep of grounds around cottages PROS: Surprisingly... the FOOD. Great variety and great tasting food. Hotel staff was pretty cordial but restaurant/food staff had attitude problems.

When I showed up it was very refreshing not to be billed extra for maid service or anything else while I was there. My friend and I checked in and all was taken care of immediately. The butler took our bags to our personal private love hut...it was wonderful! The food was very good for the most part. They had days with specialty cooking like jerk pork […] and jerk chicken on barbeque...outstanding!! It really is all inclusive...room service, food, drinks, pool amenities, recreational equipment, gym, nightly entertainment shows, all without having to do anything but have your wristband on..you can put your wallet away until you go home. Only pocket expense was for some tours we took. This place will truly get whatever is bothering you off your mind and let you RELAXX!!! I would recommend this place highly due to the proximity to Ocho Rios and Dunn's River Falls. And definitely go to Dolphin Cove. The interactive experience with the dolphins is something you will remember for a lifetime. The setting was right for romance. I definitely had my attitude properly adjusted when I got on the plane to come home. I wish I could have stayed another six months!!! Devamı

The air conditioner didn't really work, but we slept with the windows open and the cool breezes helped a lot. Absolutely loved the little huts, lots of privacy, and very roomy. George, the bartender at the Jetty Bar, made our trip, he was super!

We had an enjoyable stay; so much so, that we extended our time from 3 nights to 4. For what we paid, we thoroughly enjoyed the all-inclusive amenities (food, unlimited alcohol, hammocks, access to the beach). The only thing was, entertainment activities were constantly being cancelled and rescheduled while we were there (would've enjoyed karaoke, but […] that was one of the cancelled events). on arrival at hotel @2:50pm we were told we would be checked-in at precisely 3:00pm. We waited ....and @ 3:05pm enquired how soon we would be checked in so we could rest up from a tiring day of travel....only to be told they were checking to see if our room was ready. I was annoyed by this and told them as much. we were asked to wait another 10 minutes […] for them to sort out whatever was the problem...... Eventually we were checked into a room....but fresh paint fumes either from the room or nearby was affecting my wife who is troubled with sinusitis. We requested a room change which took too long to happen in my estimation....and got one that was not properly prepared for guests...it didn't even have a chair in it!! The rest of the amenities were fine. But the initial interaction with the hotel raised a small dark cloud on an otherwise enjoyable stay. We were locals.Jamaicans living in Jamaica... so I wonder if that might have factored into what transpired...I hope not!!! Devamı

It is a good location, and while the beaches are nice, they are not as spectacular as some of Jamaica's other beaches. The hotel was comfortable, and it is convenient to get to it from Kingston. The service was good, and the staff were friendly. The food was okay, I guess for the price, it was good value.

Internet and WIFI down almost the entire 3 days I was there. Front desk clueless and indifferent. Arrived to find no towels and no toiletry items in the room. Food indifferent with no presentation. Waited 25 minutes for a made-to-order omelet each morning. Had to hail a wait person to get a table setting. Food and bar service understaffed for the amount […] of traffic they were dealing with. Pool good and glass-bottom boat ride was excellent. I would not return there. Had to cancel a room and was unable to do so at the resort. Was informed that I would have to call Hotels.com and they had no local U.S. phone number for Hotels.com at the resort. With the Internet and WIFI down I could not cancel via the Internet. Devamı

The Royal Decameron Club Resort is absolutely wonderful! They had great food, entertainment, the activities, and the views are great, but the staff in particular made our vacation exceptional! They went out of their way to make sure we had the most pleasant and enjoyable experience possible! In particular Paulette (bar manager), Big Mike (bar), Lenny […] (bar), Jerome (bar), Headley (midnight grill), and Errol (kitchen staff) are the reason we have decided to book another stay at the hotel and bring our family this time. I cannot say enough about this fantastic resort, we had an absolutely incredible experience!! When we arrived everything was ready for us at the front desk and we had no problems what so ever. The check in process was extremely easy and we were taken to our cottage within minutes of arriving! The staff members are extraordinary and go above and beyond […] for all the guests (especially Jerome, Wayne, and Raymond). We stayed in a garden cottage and I definitely recommend it!! It is set back from the beach a little bit so it is a little more quite but still very close to the beach and you have a wonderful view of it as soon as you step out your door! The food was great and there was a great variety!! The resort has a very large stretch of beach and it was absolutely gorgeous!! Tons of beach chairs, three bars all very close to the beach and a beautiful view no matter where you sit. The glass bottom boat ride was very cool and we really enjoyed it!! The entertainment at night was also wonderful and very entertaining! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this resort! We were extremely satisfied and would definitely return!! Devamı

This hotel is good for what you pay for it, its all inclusive so you eat all you want, the food is good. I only have 1 complaint about the rude security guard that was at the front. In over 30 years of travel the staff at this hotel are the BEST I have ever come across! There is just nothing that is too much for them to make sure that your stay is a very happy experience. I plan to go again at Christmas time!!
