Welk Resort San Diego - Escondido

We stayed here because my parents were using their time share points here. Our check-in took 20 minutes because the clerk seemed very new & no one helped him. He didn't give us a map to the very large property- we had to ask a security guard for directions to our room. You get your parking pass from another staff member who tries to talk you into their […] sales pitch for the time shares. The rooms & property are beautiful. No map in the room, either. Our sofa had a huge rip in the front of it. The beds were comfortable. There was old food still left from a previous renter in our room. Check in is 4:00 p.m. and check out is 10:00 a.m. - too short a period of time for the price tag. The hot tub had only unattended children in it when we went to use it. My grandmother can't walk well & they do have door-to-door cart service- that staff member was very friendly & informed when we went down to the on site farmer's market. Devamı

The coffee maker was broken and there was mold on the shower window. Other than that, the room was very nice, we had a beautiful view and the staff was very friendly. The area was very quiet and if you're looking for a get away, this is perfect.

We so Loved our stay at the Welks resort. We had to change rooms because my stepson is sometimes wheelchair bound and within 5 minutes of calling front desk we were in our new room . Everyone from maids, landscapers to maintenece men have a great smile on there face and always pleasant. The pools and activities are wonderful. We will definatly visit […] again. Devamı

It was very relaxing, peaceful and clean... Just as I liked it. Everything you need is within the resort. It's family friendly too.

I really did love it there. We only stayed one night, so check in time was 4pm and check out time was 10:00 am so it's kinda short. And when you check in, "golf ride" is code for timeshare sales pitch. When they offer you dinner or tickets to anything that's what it's for. I didn't get it initially, but then I just kinda said no thanks. The other really […] negative was the uncomfortable bed and fold out sofa. It was a rough nights sleep for all of us. That being said, the place is gorgeous, well kept. The jet tub in our room was amazing and I looooved the shower. Our room was very spacious. I loved the place.super serene. The stay was good, but the housekeeping was very poor. They refused to provide any housekeeping service for villa and claim they only do it if we were staying longer than a week.

My family and I stayed at the LW in Escondido 3 nights. We arrived early (12pm) but we were not able to check in until 4pm. Our room was still being cleaned when we got to our room. The staff was rushing and didn't leave the room very clean. (Wasn't very impressed) That evening, our toilet got clogged and waited 30 mins for someone to come take a look […] at it. We were constatly waiting for service..towels...cups..etc. The grounds are beautiful but the resort it very understaffed. It shows in their service. The rooms are dated and not very clean. The resort was perfect in every way... even though it rain and hailed that weekend we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. From the jetted tub to the warm and cozy fireplace my significant other and I spent quality time. The market has everything you could possibly need last minute as well. We enjoyed our very large villa SO much. Amazing views, clean as can be, laundry & full kitchen, lots of amenities. Loved all the kids activities, rec center, and the location was fine! Amazing stay!

Would recommend. Very comfortable Close to may different activities. Only down side drain in shower and bathroom sink Very slow to drain, but would still stay there again. The food was to die for!!

Overall a pleasant stay. The furniture and televisions as well as carpeting are due for updating but the staff was very pleasant and everything was clean and comfortable.

The surrounding hillside was beautiful. Even though you see the freeway, you don't hear it. We took our kids and they loved the pools and kids club. If you know who Mr. Welk was, you'd appreciate the museum and the history of the place. If you're looking for a nice place to take your kids and learn how to play golf, this is it. It's a bit of a drive […] to Legoland and the Safari Zoo park. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. Stay 2 nights at Welk resort. Check in at 4Pm missed out the whole day. Check out at 10AM or be charged $50 for each hour overstay. The room was clean but the sofa bed was worn out. Sleeping on the box springs. Not a conveniet place for other San Diego attractions.

We booked this trip for a "stay-cation" with our family of seven. The two bedroom villa was more than enough room for our family to sleep, play wii games, run, cook full meals and just have a great time! The resort itself had about seven pools, two large water slides, game rooms, tennis and basketball courts. Additionally there were dozens of activities […] for adults and children that were very entertainining. There is something for everyone! I wouldnt bother buying tickets to any local attractions unless you are going to be at the resort for more than four or five days because you would never get bored. The grill has an excellet blackend chicken sandwhich and the resort will usually give you a free gift to attend their timeshare presentation (we gor $50 food voucher and a free round of golf). Even though this resort has a lot of children and families, I would not hesitate to return with just my husband or some girlfriends for a fun relaxing stay. Prior to booking our stay, we were promised on the phone that my rooom with other separate four family members room "will" be next to each other. Once we check in we were informed by an unfriendly customer service that it was "only a request" and they were not able to accomodate our rooms next to each other. We had to wait for 25 min to speak to the […] manager. Then, he placed our rooms as close as possible (which is acceptable). I had to wait outside my villa for 40 min with a three month old baby who was crying because she needs to be fed and change while the maid was still cleaning our room!! The beggining of our trip was a rocky experience, however the grounds were beautiful and the pool was nice. We would come back again. But, this time our room better be clean on time:) Devamı

This was a very nice resort, my family and I really enjoyed it. the room was nice, the property was well taken care of and the pools are GREAT. However.....when we checked into the resort we were invited to attend a 90 min presentation on our last day. We attended the presentation with plans to spend the rest of the day at Sea World. We ended up in […] a 5 hour sales pitch to by a time share!! Horrible, I spent the whole day ( that I paid for) listening to one sales person after another try to convince me to buy, and "no" was not an option. This was the worst part of our vacation. Devamı

I read the reviews before booking and it was confirmed indeed that this is a timeshare facility and no cleaning service provided while staying for 5 nights. However they did not bother me to become a member and the grounds were fabulous. Rooms are like appartments fully stocked and furnished. Even had washer and dryer for cloths in room. Loved the play […] areas for the kids they spared no expense. Resturant was a B+ to A- enjoyed it very much. Two TV's in the room and both have DVD players. For a family with childeren it was one of the best values I ever experienced in a Hotel.com deal. Stayed at 5 stars for business and this is no 5 star, but for a family with kids its an A++. Plan a day or two to stay at the resort with the kids. Now the bad: It was in the middle of nowhere. Nearest supplies were an AMPM/Gas station about 1 mile away, nearest market is 10 miles away. Is not near LegoLand or Zoo. Drive for either is easily 30+ minutes. Check out time is 10am and if your over its a $50 fee per hour! Parking was really tuff so plan ahead and drop off family and baggage curbside then park and walk. Ask for additonal towels and linens at check-in to save time because they only give you a few in your room. Sofabed was truely worse than a military cot. Luckily I brought a blow-up mattress and it was a life saver. Thearter onsite but terrible non-kid friendly shows. No big band or family suitable thearter. No DVD rentals! They should think ahead and make some money?? TV Sat had very little channels, no premium channels at all. Remote controls for the rooms didnt work right and some needed batteries. Overall it was a killer deal and a great place to stay. and I would with out hesitation recommend it to people that are staying over 3 days. under 3 days it may not pose a super value to you. but for a family it was a knock out. The accomodations were very comfortable. The resort offered many activities both for adults and for children. I would definetly stay there again.

Enjoyed the resort...nice staff everywhere. Poor housekeeping. Floors were dirty and coffe tables had fingerprints all over them. Beds could use new mattresses. Back was killing me in the morning. Kids had a great time playing ping-pong, foosball, shuffle board, etc. Really spread out resort. Didn't do timeshare presentation. This was a fantastic experience for my husband and i and our 4 kids, ages 7-11. There were great activities and classes for all.

I really enjoy this place however, checking in berfore 4:00pm is near to impossible. It was 3:40PM and we were told sorry, check in isn't until 4:00pm. We can pre-check you in though now. We went back right at 4:00 and then were asked, were you called to let you know your room was ready? No and we hadn't been told that was what would happen. If you plan to stay here and visit San Diego area attractions (Sea World, San Diego Zoo, etc) be prepared to drive. It is about a 40 minute drive to San Diego, and after spending a full day walking around and being in the sun driving that far was the last thing I wanted to do. If you plan on eating out, shopping or seeing a movie be prepared to drive […] at least 15 minutes to these locations. There is nothing in the immediate area. The room was clean and comfortable except for the fact that my room was on the lower level and I was a little nervous about safety. The room has a main entrance door and a sliding glass door, which being on the ground level I was concerned about. Also, I did not have cell phone service, I assume being underground had something to do with that, but I did not receive incoming calls or texts, as soon as I would leave the room and walk up the stairs all of my missed calls, texts and voicemails would come through. I also did not have a washer/dryer in my room, it is advertised that they are in "most" rooms, so I had to pay for the common area waher/dryer. So in summary if you plan on staying here and don't mind driving to the main area attractions, request an upper level room, bring your own food to cook, in room and don't mind not having laundry facilities in your unit then you will enjoy this resort. Wow, how lucky did we get! My famiily and I have always gone to San Diego area for our family summer vacations and this place is by far the best vacation spot we have come across (especially if you have children). There are so many things to do: water slides, water play areas for the little ones, 5 recreation centers with ping pong and tons of events […] going on everyday all day! There is a lake there too where you can catch and release fish or go golfing. And to top it off the rooms along with the facility maintenace is all well taken care of cleaned daily. I can't say enough about what a great place this is for family fun and great memories! Thanks Welk Resort San Diego! Only downside we had was the check-in time. This resort is nice if you plan on staying on the resort for your trip. It's advertised as 12 miles away from Lego land but it's actually 30 miles... driving distance. The pool towels they gave us smelled like wet dog. And unlike a hotel, you must be prepared to wash your own towels if you want clean ones. Good family oriented facility, nice rooms and pool with water slide, BBQ's a plus, Kitchen had everything we needed. We would enjoyed it and would go back.

My wife and two kids 9 and 10 stayed in the mountain view section which is like new. Very nice pool and the recreation area is great. The other recreation centers had fun activities for the kids as well. We saw the Platt Brothers at the theater and it was a great show for everyone. Fun place for a family but I don't think I would stay there just me […] and my wife unless I wanted to golf 3 times a day. Devamı

My family had very awesome time in this place.

The resort prides itself on being family friendly. If you want your children to lose their innocence and have the staff here act as if it was nothing then this is your place! We checked in this past Monday and everything has been ok since then. The cabanas are completely booked so there is no chance of you using one while you are here unless you have […] been here before and booked it way before your vacation. The classes say you have till 2pm the day prior to sign up. I called Tuesday for a Thursday activity that they stated was cancelled because there was not yet enough people signed up. What happened today is not only unexcusable but borderline criminal. We had been at the Boulder Springs pool /waterpark for over an hour. I have been here withmy family of 5 incuding my 6 year old son, 10 year old daughter, and 16 year old son. My 2 youngest children were cold so they wanted to head to the jacuzzi. There were 2 couples ther on days passes(we overheard them talking) they were teenagers or in their 20's. One of the females"mounted" one of the males and proceeded to do inappropriate things with her male companion. Their companions had told them how inappropriate their public "acts" was and to stop. They did not. There were other children in the spa other than mine. I had my children get out and went to complain to the Boulder spings activity staff. He said he would check it out immediate. 5 minutes later my wife went and complained. The same staff member said he was aware and would check it out. 5 minutes later he walked over to the spa. The female fixed her bikini and got out. The male was allowed another 3 minutes to get his shorts back on. They were allowed to saty at the "Family Pool" after commiting the crime of preforming such an act in public much less in front of minors! My wife called the front desk to ask their policy. They said they would send a security guard to escort them out and the front desk manager would call her. The security guard came, talked to t Devamı

The staff was friendly and helpful. The condo was fully equipment, very spacious, and clean. .BBQ was a plus. Our son loved the water slide. We spent most of the time in the pool. The snack bars by the pools were great and had a good variety. Close to the wild animal park. We would go back and recommend to friends.

Very nice resort. Remember to bring alot of food and snacks. You have a full refrid and stove with dishes. Wonderful for the kids.

We really loved the property at the Welk Resort. The location was not an issue becauses we just wanted to "stay put." We did go to Oceanside one day, about a 30 min. drive. Really enjoyed just being able to cook what and when we wanted. The kids had plenty to do with all the rec. centers. Would definitely stay here again.

The resort in general was very beautiful. However, it took us 1 hour and 10 minutes to check in when there was only two people in front of us. The lady at the counter helping us check in was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were unhappy with our room and when we asked to see if there was another room available we were told that there is nothing […] available. However, checking on line we found out that there were rooms available. When we finally got to our room, the room was dirty there was dust and hair that was visible. We were four people however, there was only three towels. When we asked for an additional towel we received it in 45 minutes. Parking was a problem because there was not enough parking for the amount of rooms. Overall the resort was a beautiful place, however, the management was lacking severe professionalism and service. I don't think we realized that this is a timeshare resort. While I know they were fishing for info at registration, my family stayed there for Comic-con and they never tried to hard-sell us on the time share. That said, the place was great!! There were a ton of pools (although you had to drive between them) and a couple of water slides along with some […] water playgrounds. The accommodations were spacious enough for a family of four with a couple of youngsters who slept on the pull out couch. No complaints, the kids loved it and I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Bed in bedroom was comfortable but the pull out sofa bed was not. My 14 year old skinny daughter complained she felt the springs under the mattress. Resort had lots of activities. We were going to go to the Safari Zoo but decided to skip it to enjoy the resort amenities. One complaint I had was the cabana we rented. The two pool side cabanas did not […] have a solid roof; it was a pergola. It did not provide the shade I expected and needed. There are 3 other cabanas away from the pool that do have a solid roof but they were booked so I couldn't change. Keep in mind that this is a timeshare resort and with timeshares, you do not receive daily maid service, only a mid-week mini-clean and exchange of towels. Beautiful room on the golf course. Several swimming pools with water slides. Live theatre and restaurant on-site.

I visited with my ten-year-old, who really liked it. Lots of swimming and craft/activity sessions, plus games available to keep busy. Some of the staff was not that helpful, others more so. Absolutely worst part of it was the restaurant--expensive, poor service, bad food.

Nice for a middle class family. Definitely not a luxury place. Good for kids.

We actually checked out early, the night before, AND told the front desk who replied, "okay, thank you, have a nice evening"....are you kidding me???? We had two rooms booked for 2 nights....keys quit working half way into stay, went to front desk, stood in line to get new keys, that then stopped working! Had all my belongings locked in room, thank […] goodness I had my cell phone. Stood in the afternoon hot sun for an hour waiting for front desk to send someone to unlock room for me, ended up sneaking thru the shrubs to unlatch screen door. 2 housekeepers were still in our room when we finally got keys AFTER 4pm! Hair all over shower walls, not ours! Would you believe we actually considered buying a timeshare there? Not anymore....just plain disappointed.... Devamı

Traveling with 2 teenagers for an event in the greater San Diego Area. The 2-bd villa with full kitchen was perfect. Recently remodeled, the unit was large enough to give all family members space. We hope to go back next year! Highly recommend.

I arrived at the hotel Thursday evening to find it was much different than I was expecting. It took us an hour to check in, there was one person working at the counter and a few people ahead of me. When it was time to give me the parking pass, she referred me over to a different desk of employees. There they asked my son if he likes playing the wii […] or xbox, and told him about going to the kids club. All I have to do is listen to a 90 minute presentation. I had to agree, kids were too excited and I figured an hour and a half is manageable. They didn't explain where anything was on the map, we got lost to our room and didn't know how to access tennis courts or golf. Finally got out room key to find out they placed us at the building furthest from the pool and on the second floor. I had requested to be on the bottom, so the kids could play on the outside grass area. Finally got everything settled, went to the room and it was huge. We had a full kitchen, living room, bedroom and washer/dryer (great for after the swimming). There were very few towels and limited amenities. I didn't realize the hotel was a true time share and there was not room service. We went back out, for the 20 minute drive to the closest restaurant and to pick up snacks. Once we got over checking in and finding dinner. We went to the pool, it was clean, and nice and open late. The water slide is only open till 6 or 7, and opens at 11. The location of the hotel was far from anything else in san diego. But, if you plan on spending your days at the pool and no where else the hotel is fine. We did have a major ant problem in the room and it ate some of the food we brought. Also the water heater wasn't working, made for a late start to legoland to get showers in. With out kids, I would not stay here. The benefits are the water slide and multiple kid game rooms. Huge hit. Everywhere was crowded, it was hard to get parking and a lounge chair.
