The State House Inn is a nice, modern alternative to the cookie cutter hotels in Springfield. It's a short walk to dining, nightlife, and historical markers. The rooms are decorated in a modern decor, with cushy beds and mini-fridges. BAD_Temps can be controlled from a wall thermostat, but the fan shuts on and off (loudly) every 20 minutes. The restrooms […] do not include any fan (a pet peeve of mine). GOOD_I've stayed here about a 1/2 dozen times, and have had a great, hot breakfast each time. We had a wonderful stay at the State House and it surpassed what we expected. It was modern, clean and within walking distance to most local attractions. The bed was super comfortable but a bit close to the desk. Other than that, there was not a thing to complain about. The staff were also super helpful!

A great place to stay in a convenient location.

The staff at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Our rooms were side by side as requested and located on the first floor for convenience. The rooms were styled in a contemporary/1960's style. Our room was clean and came with "Bath and Body" bathroom products with a clean/fresh scent. I loved the style of the entire hotel as well. […] The 1960's style was refreshing and a fun change from the "usual" expected hotel style. Lastly, the complimentary buffet breakfast was hot and delicious. We had the option of choosing anything from fresh bagels to biscuits and gravy. I would suggest this hotel to my family and friends and would definitely stay again. Devamı

This hotel was undoubtedly built in the 1960s. It looks to have been fairly recently renovated, but with an eye to maintaining the early-60s vibe, with the furniture choices. We had a "two queen bed" room, but I'm not convinced that they were actually queens (they might have been doubles). Despite that, the beds were very comfortable. Yes the hotels been renovated yet you can tell its been renovated and not very well. However the room was very clean and updated well. The problem was it was St. Patty's day weekend and the partying throughout the hotel was unbelievable. Noise all hours of the night, rude, drunk guests, etc. Room was your average hotel room nothing to rave about, mattress […] was way to soft/plush. Breakfast was your average hotel free hot breakfast. Not a family oriented hotel, I will stick to chains I am familiar with. Disappointed! Devamı

This is the place to stay if you are taking the train to Springfield. It is so convenient for Lincoln sites and state business. It is not convenient for restaurants after 5 PM. The breakfast was very good and the staff very pleasant.

Hotel is very clean, great location and the staff were friendly and professional. I would definately stay again.

I absolutely loved this hotel. Being right across from the capital building was so much fun. The hotel decor is modern and very clean. I felt very comfortable and safe. They had bath and body works soaps, terry cloth robes, pocket doors to the bathroom and the bed linens were white and spotless. The morning wake up call was on time too. Very close to all the major sites in Springfield and directly across the street from the Capitol Building. Staff was wonderful and I would say made the 70's retro decor of the room and pillow top bed, that was too soft for my taste, small complaints in comparison. A great hotel with an excellent service oriented staff. This place has a nice hot breakfast. There is some funky furniture in the lobby as well as a low key bar to unwind after a long day. This place is five minutes away from everything in Springfield. I stay here every time I come to town.

The hotel is conveniently located to various sites. I enjoyed having free internet connection in the room. The staff was very polite and helpful.

The hotel was overall nice and the staff helpful. There is a lounge or bar, but no restaurant within the hotel; however, it is located within walking distance to some good restaurants. Staff was very helpful to point out several to choose from and they always greeted us and were there to help. The king bed was lopsided on one side and all the pillows […] on the bed were small and square - no regular pillows. Despite these few things, the bed was overall ok and clean. the good: clean, staff helpful the bad: old, need refurbishment and we could hear the neighbor coughing recommend only for tourist trying to save some cash.

This hotel was only 2 blocks from the Amtrak station that my kids and I rode in on. We were able to walk to all the sites, which only cover about a 10-block radius anyway. Was pleasantly surprised by the free breakfast, which was way better than other hotels' coffee-and-pastry "breakfast". This one includes many options, including hot scrambled eggs, […] potatoes, bacon, waffles, etc. This hotel ended up being perfect for a short visit to the capital and I would recommend it to others. I chose State House Inn because of it's location to the Amtrak station only about a block away. While the hotel is conveniently located to the train station and the capital building, it's a little further from other attractions such as the Lincoln Museum and The Old Capital Building, though still easily within walking distance. The hotel and the room […] was extremely clean and well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was very good with lots of choices including scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy, and make your own waffles with berries, syrup, and whip cream. There was also an assortment of fresh fruit and cereals. The bed was a little on the soft side, but I was still able to get a good night's sleep. I would definitely stay here again. Devamı

rude front desk service. no bellhop rooms too small for price (had to scoot around front of bed to get to other side) Better off at President Lincoln most importantly, in Hotels.com it stated that the hotel's cancellation policy was that i could cancel up until 4pm day of with no penalty. The receptionist told me that was not true, that the room was […] already paid for and that there was no way to get a refund. i did not like the look of the place even before i got into my room. We were 2 couples on a 3 day sightseeing trip and we were very impressed with the facilities and check-in personnel at the State House Inn. The first slight problem was the next morning when I found that we only had decaf coffee in our room. So I got derssed and went down stairs and had a cup in the breakfast area. That evening when we returned to our […] room, I checked and saw that again there was only decaf. I went down to the check-in desk and asked Latoya if I could have two packages of regular coffee. In a very sarcastic voice she told me I could only have one. I again asked if I could have two, because each pot was little more than one cup, her response was even more disrespectful when she said "I'll give you just one". The beds were comfortable, and the hotel still offers smoking...without that stale smell throughout the floors. The decor is clean and modern. Toiletries are Bath and Body works brand, and robes are provided. The room temp was easily regulated and quiet, but no exhaust in room or bath. Hot, free breakfast was great. Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits, […] Gravy and on and on. When I checked in the room had been turned over, but all the old sheets/towels were left on the floor. I just kicked them to the hall as it was probably a small oversight by the maid. Also, I retuned late in the evening after a few drinks. I had lost my key :) somewhere along the line and was treated very rudely by the night shift desk woman. Despite my apology for the inconvenience, she ignored me and told me to not let it happen again. I didn't catch her name, but she could have doubled for Robbin Williams as Mrs. Doubtfire. All in all, it was a good stay, and I'd recommend it if you plan to tour downtown historic sites or go out on the town. Devamı

The State House Inn is a very well maintained hotel property close to most everything downtown in Springfield. It is an excellent value since the roomy king suite we stayed in also included a hot breakfast!

The hotel had a great location near the capitol and many Lincoln attractions. The desk staff were very helpful and professional. Breakfast was good. Free parking was a bonus. Only drawback was the size of the room, slightly on the small side, but nothing we couldn't live with for a few days.

Second stay was as good as the first. This hotel should be at least a 4 star not the 3 star given earlier. Good location, helpful and courteous staff, clean rooms, free parking, and a well done breakfast buffet.

This hotel is in a great location to many tourist venues located just a block from the capital building. Desk staff was very helpful with local information as well as courteous. I was really impressed with the decor in the hotel. It also had a nice lounge with awesome bartenders. The staff was wonderful and called me by name. My room was very clean and I liked how they provided robes, something different most hotels I have stayed at..Overall totally impressed.

We were so pleased with our stay at the State House Inn! IThe service was phenomenal, everyone was so pleasant and though we didn't have much interaction with the staff, every one of them we did encounter was more than willing to help, without even being asked. The breakfast was so good! Much more variety than you usually see at a continental breakfast. […] We stayed the same weekend as several wedding parties at the hotel, and though we saw lots of people at breakfast, there were no disturbances during our stay. The room and bed were SO comfortable, we did not want to leave! The walls seemed a bit thin, maybe, but we weren't disturbed by anyone and it's kind of to be expected in an older building. Our check-in and check-out process could not have been smoother (I've worked at a hotel before and know that sometimes they are NOT) and the whole hotel was inviting, professional, clean, and, in the words of my fiancee, "awesome." Overall quality and cleanliness very good, but the bathroom was tiny and the tub was so small I could not turn around in it to get out. People at the desk very helpful. Unusually high quality breakfast. Very convenient to everything we wanted to see. Would definitely stay there again.

What a pleasant stay we had at The State House Inn. The staff were the friendliest I've ever encountered, the rooms were very clean, comfortable and nicely appointed. The location is right in the downtown area and walking around to all the 'sites' and restaurants is achieved with ease. I would stay here again, without hesitation.

If you want to be kept up by 4 train whistles, the MOST uncomfortable beds ever and shower with soap that smells like bad body odor this is the hotel for you!! Would never ever stay here again.

This was a wonderful experience---from the staff to the room (especially the great bed) to the breakfast (REAL eggs!! CRISPY bacon!!) to the location to the amazingly inexpensive price. The rooms are furnished in the efficient, modern built-in style so prevalent in Europe (and in our favorite hotel in Hanoi as well). We walked to the Lincoln Museum […] and neighborhood. What a find! Was in springfield for a wedding. The check in for this hotel is 4pm, which was also the same time as when the ceremony started. I was happy when I called after booking my room to find that I would be able to get in early so I could get ready. All of the staff members that I spoke to were nice and very helpful, and the hotelroom we stayed in was updated, […] and very well kept. It was also within walking distance of some cute shops and the state capitol. Breakfast in the morning was pretty good and filled me up. I would stay here if I am ever in Springfield again. Devamı

Breakfast buffet was great. Decor and service were fine; although, might not be enough space between desk and queen bed for a large person to work comfortably. However, no WiFi in room is a total deal breaker. I've abandonded a laptop in favor of an iPad for most short businerss trips. I couldn't get my NYT or WSJ. No Netflix, No nothing.
