The Gatwick White House Hotel - Horley

If you want to have your cake and eat it too, this is the hotel in LGW for you.

Its close to the airport, nice people working there and the rooms are ok with nice bed. I stayed one night to wait for tranfering flight and for the price this hotel is perfect! Dont need anything more! And only 5 min drive to the aiport wich they will transport you to any time ofe the day!

The only reason why we selected "The Gatwick White House Hotel" was because it was close to Gatwick Airport. And by far, that should be the only reason why you choose this hotel. And do NOT, D O N O T ask them for transfer from any other airport but Gatwick. They were 45 minutes late and didn't have the courtesy to apologize. The room where basically […] only a bed and a bathroom. But not even the whole floor was covered with carpet. Thank god there weren't any bugs at least. And unless you're a fakir, bring your own matress. We still have bruises from the bed, even almost a week after. So the only reasons why you should choose this hotel is that it is close to the airport and that it is cheap. Devamı

It was perfect for my one night layover at the gatwick airport. Breakfast was great and the room and shower was just right. The only thing that was a bummer was the wifi did not work.

I stayed here as I had an early morning flight from Gatwick the next morning. The receptionist who took my call when I asked to be picked up at the terminal gave me the wrong information and it resulted in a long wait. Also, the coach to and from the airport is NOT free. The hotel itself is conveniently located but is clearly in need of major refurbishment […] - it is a throwback to the 70s. The bathroom is incredibly small and the shower head was not working properly, so instead of a shower spray, it was more like a very painful water massage - not great at all. The sheets on the bed seemed clean but what was surprising was that there was no top sheet. There was a quilt inside a cover but it just seemed very odd that a complete sheet set wasn't available or at least not in use. The worst aspect of this hotel was the restaurant. Since I didn't want to walk into Horley (the town centre), I opted to have a light dinner in the hotel restaurant - BIG mistake. I asked the waiter if the soup was home made and he assured me it was. When it arrived, it turned out to be some dehydrated powder mixed with hot water. When I told the waiter how awful the soup was, he said it was " home made ' as it had been mixed on the premises and up till now, they had always made their soup this way!! The hotel is run by a family that is clearly not open to any suggestions or concerns that guests have. The manager on duty was very dismissive of my complaint about their "home made" dehydrated powdered soup but did nothing to try and remedy the situation. The pros to staying in the Gatwick White House Hotel is that you know it's for 1 night as you have a flight the next day and the town of Horley is really pretty and easy to walk to ( I should have gone there for dinner!!) Convenience to Gatwick great however comfort level not so great ... bed not comfortable but clean, no armchair to sit in, although the TV worked unless one laid on the bed or sat in an upright dinner chair that was it, nice to have an ensuite but pressure from shower all most non exsistant so make it quick.Lounge area of hotel was all single chairs […] around the edge of the room not exactly what you would call inviting. Breakfst good but make sure you are on time or you won't get any, last breakfast served 8:45am. Before I stayed here again I would check surrounding area's for better quality and deal. Rather pay more and have comfort tthan budget and waste money. Although the web page says free transport to Gatwick Airport this is not so there is a charge so buyer beware. Devamı

The hotel is an ok place to stay, if you have a night transfer at Gatwick.Staff and hotel itself was ok, and the standard good enough. Nice to stay here if you just come for sleeping. Note that the hotel has shuttle bus from and to the airport.

All good, and very helpful staff and would go there again. Only minuses were that it took 45 mins for the bus to collect me from the airport bus stop, and the bedside light bulb didn't work and they couldn't replace it. Otherwise, tip top and would stay there again.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay as a stop-over between flights then this fits the bill perfectly. We called the shuttle service from Gatwick airport and it came in next to no time and the driver was one of the people who runs the hotel and was also very friendly. Just a few minutes walk down the road is a couple of restaurants, one of which […] is a very nice Indian that is unlicensed BUT, they let you bring your own booze!! To make things even more convenient there is an off license just 3 doors down! So we had a nice Indian meal with all the extra's and a bottle of wine and some beers for less than 20 pounds per head. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and even kept the bar open just for us. The next morning the shuttle bus took us back to the airport at the agreed time. This hotel was horrible..Looks nothing like it does on the website.I had to wait 30mins to check in because the guy at the counter was gone to the airport. My room felt like a dorm/prison. The continental breakfast sucks, and its not even free. The hotel is very convenient for Gatwick Airport and having a shuttle service is the main reason I stay here. The staff are polite. The rooms for a single person are very small but OK for crashing in after a long flight.

I found it very satisfying to have someone from the hotel drive to the airport to pick me up & take me back to the airport the next day, other hotels i have stayed in Gatewick only offer a bus shuttle service which i found very unsatisfactory. We paid an extortionate rate for a room during the pre-Christmas snow-in at Gatwick airport. Our flight was canceled and all the hotels were book so we had no choice but to book what was available because we were traveling with a baby. Basically we paid a four star price for a one star experience and while its understandable (though unethical) that […] hotel owners profit from people's misery, the White House did so without any shame or attempt to provide a marginally agreeable service. The room had barely any furniture, the bathroom and the sheets were of dubious cleanliness, the staff were surly and unpleasant to deal with, the breakfast was barely edible, and we were charged an additional 10 pounds for the shuttle to the airport. In short, the White House is to be avoided at all cost and if you must stay there because nothing else is available, have no illusions-- you'll get ripped off and will have a lousy night at a sad, filthy dump. Needs refurbishing. Rooms dingy. Damp patches on bedroom ceiling. Shower door not attached to runner. Breakfast only adequate. Transfer to airport very good - complementary and very accommodating about timing. Overall - did the job, but would not visit again.

This hotel does not have a professional air about it. If you want parking and to be close to Gatwick; and if you don't have high expectations you will be happy. The staff did not speak English very well but were very obliging, letting me use their printer and not worrying about my voucher not being presented on arrival. The front desk was left unattended […] often. The disabled internet was fixed asap. The room was very small and not well maintained. If you can get a cheap room it may be all you need. Devamı

The hotel looks very shabby from the outside but inside it was clean and tidy, although it would be improved by a bit more investment in some new fittings. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a basic restaurant at the hotel (largely Indian menu) but also a large family pub restaurant in close walking distance. Pluses: The Gatwick White House was convenient to the airport, the manager let us check in well before checkin time, the price was very affordable. Minuses: the hotel was a bit shabby, it could use some paint and new carpet, no air conditioning (or bathroom exhaust fan), very cramped halls and the room was the smallest we stayed in in Europe. There […] were no deadbolts on the doors (only a lock with a skeleton key). The pillows were flat, the bed was hard, the sheets were worn with small holes in them. All this was livable. However, what really killed our experience, the warped bathroom door would only shut halfway (if traveling with others...this is a huge privacy problem) and the tiny portable shower had a door opening so small, anyone over 200 lbs or somewhat large in the chest area could not get in.(I scraped the hair off my belly). After getting in, you could wash one side of yourself... then have to get out and back in to wash the other side of your body.(If you dropped the soap you couldn't bend over to pick it up.) The breakfast was just OK... you better like your eggs raw, because when I asked to have them scrambled hard/well done... the cook got somewhat peeved at me and acted like I was asking for his soul. This was a real treat. As some reviews indicate it is not a luxury resort hotel. However it is near Gatwick Airport, has a free shuttle, and a wonderful full English Breakfast. A short mid-morning stroll to town central shops before catching the bus to Heathrow provided a brief glimpse of suburban London life. Simply delightful!

I picked the Gatwick for its location, free breakfast, and free ride to and from Gatwich Airport. I was picked up within 15 minutes of calling them, and when I placed my backpack behind the seat on the ride next morning, the driver reminded me of it -- otherwise I would have forgotton it was there. But they were so nice, I'll bet they would have come […] back with it had I called them from the free phone. The room was small. The bathroom was very small but very clean. The transportation from and to Gatwick was good and at no cost.

At the price, this hotel should have been a tad nicer. The room, which was crowded with a double bunk bed as well as a twin, and was really big enough for one double bed, did not have any place even to hang a coat, only one light switch by the door and no, repeat, no ameneties of any kind. This is a hotel that knows what it is: convenient access to Gatwick Airport. It is not a 'destination' hotel, so don't expect it to be. Room was way more than adequate with a hair dryer, enough supplies for 4 cups of tea and a few cups of coffee. TV was small but suited me. It is on a fairly busy road, so earplugs might help. This is an older property but the business is well run with great attention to detail and customer service. 4 minutes by their free shuttle to and from the airport with extremely helpful staff. Very close to Ye Olde 6 Bells pub- a gem!! Don't expect the Ritz but can't be beat if all you want is a quiet convenient stop over.

rigtigt fint hotel for en enkelt overnatning. De har egen transport til lufthavnen. Så det er super, hvis man lige skal sove der en enkelt nat før eller efter flyrejsen. :)

Personalet var særdeles hjælpsomme, venlige og gav en udmærket service. morgenmaden var fin kan fås efter ønske. Hotellet er nedslidt og dermed svært at holde. Der er gratis lufthavnsshuffle. Blev der foretaget en renovering boede jeg gerne på hotellet igen !

Hvis man ser bort fra transporten til og fra flyplassen er det vel svært lite positivt å si om dette hotellet. Trange ganger, kaotisk layout og svært dårlig frokost.

Værelserne er utrolig beskidte og gulvet bør ikke betrædes uden sko. Det var kun den bulgarske receptionist, der var utrolig imødekommende og hjælpsom. Det tager kun 30 minutter at komme til enten Brighton eller London med tog fra Gatwick. Så gør det i stedet for.

Har brukt hotellet to ganger i løpet av siste måned. Begge gangene kun for en overnatting. Kort vei til sentrum av Horley. Anbefaler en vietnamesisk restaurant på vei til sentrum. Bare noen hundre meter. Veldig god mat til rimelig penge. Hotellet har transport til og fra Gatwick flyplass. Ligger bare noen minutters kjøring fra flyplassen. Rommene er […] ok. men er noe slitt. Wij zijn 2 nachten verbleven in het Gatwick White House Hotel. De reden was dat het goedkoop was. De prijs incl. ontbijt was net zo hoog als de prijs van andere goedkope hotels excl ontbijt. Ik ben niet erg te spreken over het hotel, hoewel de prijs daar ook naar was. Ontvangst was rommelig. Het duurde lang voor we ingecheckt waren en we hebben twee […] keer een andere sleutel / kamer gekregen (kwam ongeordend over). Kamer was erg gehorig. Gordijnen sloten niet goed, waardoor we erg vroeg wakker werden van het licht. De douche was slecht. Krap, vies en er kwam amper water uit de douchekop. Parkeerplaats was vol toen wij aankwamen. In de buurt was geen andere parkeergelegenheid. Ontbijt was prima. De locatie vonden wij wel gunstig. De buurt zelf is niet zo bijzonder, maar het is ongeveer een kwartier lopen naar het treinstation, van waar wij naar Londen zijn gereisd. Dat beviel goed, zo hoef je niet met de auto de stad in.
