I was very impress with the customer service as soon as I arrived at Athens Gate Hotel. To receive a cold glass of water and Greek candy was a very welcoming touch. The Hotel was expecting me and laid out the red carpet for my birthday stay by providing special treats in my room and also upgrading me to a amazing view room. Upon leaving, they had coffee […] waiting for me in the lobby and because I had a early flight, a bag of breakfast goodies was for me as well. The Hotel is a very short distance to walking to everything in the Plaka shopping/restaurant area. It's tough to know what type of Hotel you will get when you book something online. Needless to say, I selected a FANTASTIC choice! I will surely come back to this hotel and will share it with everyone I know who is visiting Athens Greece! Devamı

Very comfortable quiet inner room, no view, very clean, comfy twin beds and good air conditioning. There is a spectacular view of the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus from the roof garden. The only free wifi is on roof garden otherwise the charge is 14 eu a day per person, and for me that presents a big problem. Especially when a little gyros stand down […] the street offers free wifi! But they do include a full American breakfast which was excellent. Without wifi free in room though I don't know that i would stay there again. Devamı

Hotel was easy to get to - very close to metro. There was a mix up when we arrived - we were put in a double when my booking was for a twin room - but they quickly resolved that and upgraded us to a better room at no cost. The overall experience was wonderful...the staff and restaurant at the top were the highlights...the room was small, however, clean and modern...The lounge/restaurant at the top is incredible, the view is spectacular...Giorgos at the restaurant was very helpful in suggestions etc., a true asset to the hotel, as was the whole staff at the hotel...The […] metro is close by, the metro is incredible and there is no need to do the hop on hop off bus, just familiarize yourself with metro and it's easy to see it all... We went there with my fiancé for a weekend escape,the location was really nice,you could walk up to Syntagma square and easyly reach to Ermou afterwards.Also the red tourist buses pass front of the hotel which was fantastic,we bought tickets and traveled with them to everywhere.Most fantastic thing with the hotel was breakfast and the view.I cant imagine […] a better view of Athens other than through the roof bar of the hotel. PROS – best breakfast ever; loved walking through the Plaka on our way back to the hotel every day; right next to the Acropolis metro station; walking distance to Syntagma, Zeus, Acropolis, Filopappos Hill, and other places; removed from the loud commercial district of Syntagma; felt safer than the other districts; family friendly (had a 10-yr-old with […] me) forever patient staff; restaurant with great views; clean good sized room; wi-fi in restaurant and wired internet downstairs. CONS – need to add free wi-fi to rooms; need manual on thermostat in rooms; not the most comfortable bed (although the firmness was good for my back); would be nice to have a guide to restaurants in room (ie. there was a pizza delivery across the street that we didn’t find until a week later that my daughter loved). TIPS: 1. Make sure you know how to work the elevator (which Michael showed us upon our arrival). 2. Know how to work your room thermometer (which we had to ask about the second day); every time you open your balcony or take out your key card slot, the thermostat shuts off and has to be turned back on! 3. New to Americans, you have to put your key card into a slot in order to have power in your room; just keep your second card in there so that your lights and heat/cool work upon return. 4. Choose between nice view on busy louder street, or quieter back street w/o view (back does have garbage truck during night); avoid elevator proximity. If they don't bother you, wear ear plugs. The hotel location was exceptional, foot steps to plaka, metro, acropolis, etc wich is great if you have almost no time to sightsee the city. Breakfast was amazing and reception was great, the roof restaurant has excellent views however it is kind of expensive but just around the corner there is a great greek restaurant called Smile. Athens Gate was convenient to most of the important sites in Athens, and if you needed the Metro, it was only a couple of blocks away. I would be hesitant to try to approach it by Metro with a suitcase the first time, because it's a little hard to find that first time. After that, it's great. Breakfast was excellent every day.

The hotel is steps away from the Acropolis so it was convenient to just walk there. It is also right next to the hop on hop off bus station which made it very convenient. Breakfast is great and the view from the rooftop (Also from our room) was very very nice!!!! It's also close to shops and restaurants! I highly recommend!

Excellent stay in a terrific hotel. Greeted on arrival with water and Turkish Delight, the entire staff were highly professional, helpful and pleasant in every way. Excellent value for money and with one of the best breakfast views in the world - the Acropolis right in front of you!

Fantastically well situated: opposite the Temple of Zeus, about 400 yards from the Acropolis, and 2-3 minutes walk to a Metro station. Brilliant staff: problem-solving, cheerful, welcoming. Our trip was a mixture of business and pleasure and we were delighted to find that this hotel was ideally situated for visiting the historical sites, shopping area and conference venues in Athens; many are within walking distance but there is also a metro station a few minutes walk away (a 7 day metro ticket was just 14 euros during our visit, although […] this doesn't include the airport). The view from the rooftop restaurant is wonderful and it makes breakfast (or dinner) even more special. The food was generally very good, we prefer to eat our evening meals in local restaurants but did sample the dinner and were very pleased with the quality, but you do pay a fair price for dining in. All areas of the hotel were very clean and well maintained. The stairs, being spiral, marble and rather steep on the top floor, are best avoided if you have any mobility difficulties but there are two small lifts available to all floors. As is common in busy cities you are able to hear the sounds of traffic from within the rooms at the front of the hotel but this did not stop us from sleeping. All staff were incredibly helpful and always met us with a smile - the lady who checked us in and out was particularly good and able to give us valuable information about local travel. We had a fantastic trip and would recommend this hotel to friends and family visiting the area. Devamı

It was just an overnight stay but we still had time to see some of the sights. You can walk across the street to the park. We had a room with a spectacular view, and from the breakfast room on the top floor it’s even better. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends, it was great!

This hotel is worth for its excellent location. Acropolis , The Olympic venue , the museum every thing is within 500 meter. The Hop on Hop off bus service stops next to the hotel. The Acropolis station (Red line) is right behind the hotel. To connect airport you have catch the blue line at Syntagma station. Close to all transportations and can walk around by foot. Room are clean and updated. Bedding & comforter are neat & comfortable. Staff are excellent. Breakfast is good. Top level have a gorgeous view the acropolis and Zeus temple.

Hotel great - city a mess. Perfect location- English speaking- rooms largish for Greece- view unbeatable- beds a bit hard- breakfast wonderful- enjoy the roof top view for an evening drink but skip dinner here and hit the street- provided there is not a strike going on- the major drawback for Athens- hard to really like a city with no taxis, buses, […] trains, tear gas in the streets and air traffic controllers on strike too! We have stayed in many hotels in many countries and have experienced none better than the Athens Gate. Outstanding breakfast (both wide choice and top quality) and friendly, knowledgeable and responsive staff, including when taxis went on strike and the Athens Gate staff arranged transportation to the port for a very reasonable price.

We stayed at Athen's Gate on our last night in Greece (returning from the Cyclades Islands). We had seen the Parthenon, Plaka and other sites, but deliberately saved Hadrian's Gate, Temple of Olympian Zeus and Acropolis Museum for last as they are within 2-minutes walk from Athen's Gate Hotel (all which can be viewed from the hotel itself). Whilst […] the room was comfortable and nicely furnished, the staff pleasant and efficient and the breakfast excellent - our trip was somewhat soured by the depressing view from our room of an alley and private residences. If you stay at Athen's Gate make a point of asking for a room with a view of Hadrian's Gate/Temple of Zeus. Also, take note that the internet is outrageously overpriced, and you can use it from the rooftop restaurant for free - however, we did feel very pressured to buy something there ... somewhat unreasonable. However, we would generally recommend it to others (with the above warnings), but we would not stay there again ourselves. Devamı

WE HAD A GREAT START TO OUR VACATION STAYING AT ATHENS GATE. OUR ROOM OVERLOOKED THE ACROPOLIS. IT WAS JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE HOTEL. PLAKA WAS TWO BLOCKS OVER. SERVICE GREAT AND HAVING DINNER AND BREAKFAST THE NEXT DAY (INCLUDED IN PRICE) OVERLOOKING ZEUS AND THE CITY OF ATHENS MAGICAL.

We found The Athens Gate Hotel to be a brilliant hotel in all respects. The Staff were very professional and friendly. Our room was spacious and clean. It didn't face the acropolis but we still have a wonderful view over the Temple of Zeus. Each morning there was a wide selection of fresh food for breakfast which the staff constantly replenished. I […] enjoyed a breakfast of fresh fruit salad and yoghurt with granola while my husband ate a hearty cooked breakfast followed by croissants and sweet pastries. Each evening we had a night cap on the balcony of the restaurant/bar overlooking the flood lit Acropolis. This gave a perfect ending to a busy day sightseeing around Athens. The hotel was very clean, with very pleasant and helpful staff, and the manager was excellent as well. The room and bathroom were both a good size, however the bed was pretty firm and every night around 4am you can hear the garbage truck emptying large dumpsters on the street if you have a room that is on the alley side. The walls were also pretty thin, […] so you were woken up if those in neighbouring rooms were up early or talking in the hallways if you are a light sleeper. On a positive note, the hotel was in the perfect location for those that are there to see Athens. It was a 5 minute walk to nearby cafe's, restaurants, small souvenir shops, and about a 10 minute walk to the Acropolis & the Acropolis Museum. Shopping on Ermou street, or the old town of Plaka were only a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. The rooftop garden restaurant has breath taking views of the Acropolis, and their breakfast and dinner options were fantastic. Excellent service at the restaurant as well. Close to the Acropolis (literally around the corner!). Very central to everything you need to see in Athens. Roof terrace restaurant overlooks the Acropolis; amazing views both day and night. We ate at the restaurant one night and we were a little disappointed with the service; it wasn't busy however the staff took ages to take our order, give us our […] meal and bill at the end. Room was small and had an awkward shape but since it was interior there was no noise which has been a complaint on other reviews. Walking distance to Acropilis, Plaka and all main attractions which makes it really convenient. Incredible views from rooftop restaurant where breakfast was served.
