Hotel Royal - New Orleans

We ended up with a very small room, but everyone was friendly and the room was clean.

Newly renovated contemporary clean great staff and location....however very noisy!

After living in europe for 4 years, this hotel had that european feeling. Absolutely loved it.

We did not like the EXTRA charges. We were never even given the WI-FI password. Though we did not put the towels on the floor to be replaced the hotel waste fully replaced them each day anyway.

I've gone to NOLA literally hundreds of times. I chose this hotel because I knew in advance that the location was spot on perfect. If that's your major concern, this place is ideal. It's close to Frenchman St, the French Market, it's at the quiet end of Bourbon St (1 block over), Jackson Square, etc. The fixtures and furniture are tastefully done and […] quite comfortable. The staff was very friendly and quick to help any way necessary. Only major drawback is mostly the size of the room. I got a junior suite. It had a balcony over St. Phillip St. - nice! But I actually measured my floor space. Including the hallway, bathroom and closet, it was still under 300 sq ft. Very cramped. There aren't any of the normal things you might expect, like hair dryers or coffee makers. And there isn't a pool or an elevator. For about $20 or $30 a night more, there are plenty of hotels in the quarter that provide all of that and larger rooms. But they aren't anywhere near as good a location as the Hotel Royal. The hotel is very charming and well appointed in it's decor. Since I walk around the quarter so much, I will probably stay here again. The convience of being able to pop in and out of your room to drop off purchases or rest for a quick bit or even just to use your own bathroom without qoing out of your way is wonderful. Charming hotel, very friendly service. Lovely old building. Perfect location for the quarter - away from the frenzy but within 10 minute walk to anything. Only drawbacks, most of which could be easily addressed by the hotel (which is why I mention them here): - No full length mirrons in rooms (difficult to get ready for a wedding without it) - No accessible […] outlets except by sink - and no room on vanity to place phone. Kept falling into sink - No room to keep toiletries in bathroom, even though bathroom was plenty big. (Litlle shelf provided was not level, could not place anything on it.) - Water temp varied dramatically during short showers - Thin walls: Could hear anyone in the hall or adjacent rooms, but everyone was luckily very quiet so sleep was not disturbed. I think this is universal for these older buildings, so I'm not sure this should dissuade you from staying here. Devamı

This is a boutique hotel in a great location. It appears to have been recently remodeled and is quite nice. Keep in mind it is an old building and as such is not insulated for sound like a new building would be. Room was clean and modern but a little on the small side. The from desk was wonderful. Always cheerful and helpful with questions. My only […] gripe about the hotel was that they have three hairdryers that they loan out to guests and they were never available. I had to go to the drugstore and buy a hairdryer. They need to correct this shortcoming. Other than that, it is in a great location and you can walk anywhere in the French Quarter from the hotel. Fun to stay in the quarter for the first time. Small rooms but comfortable. Take your own hair dryer! Great food for lower prices in the market but nice to splurge on fancy also. Tours are worth the money.

Hotel Royal was charming on outside & newly refurbished in modern style on inside. I really enjoyed it. There was a nice courtyard to have early morning coffee. The bed was a newer mattress & very comfortable. The location was killer! We didn't drive at all & walked everywhere very comfortably. Would def stay again!

I travel all over this country and am not a hard person to please. However when I spend one thousand dollars for a three night stay I am expecting a certain amount of comfort for my money. The bathroom was extremely small and the pictures on the internet are very miss leading. My girlfriend and I could not be in there at the same time and there is not […] one shelf other than the back of the toilet. Also there is no mirror in the room to get dressed in. This was very frustrating and I would imagine that any woman would dislike this. The bed had no fitted bed sheet and was very loosely covered by a top sheet. It was absolutely disgusting to wake up in the morning on a hotels exposed mattress. There is no coffee, vending, ice or any other amenities that are expected of a hotel. Motel six has more amenities. It was like camping indoors. Up five flights of stairs mind you. While leaving I discovered two used syringes hidden in the room. they were covered in dust so they have been there for a while and still are. Absolutely unacceptable. I also, while looking for a watch that went missing found twenty two dollars under the bed. Which really made me wonder the last time that room was properly cleaned. I would advise anyone thinking of staying at Hotel Royal to reconsider. For the money you are going to spend for absolutely nothing you can easily find a better place. Hotel Bourbon is wonderful. I do not understand how they call themselves anything other than a Motel and please drop the Royal. It does not deserve the title. I also used to live in New Orleans so please spare me the "local way" crap. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I would rather sleep in my car. Devamı

I am in love with this place!! First, the staff was so incredibly nice and accommodating from beginning to end, that had there been any problems, I know they would have been taken care of. Some rooms are indeed very, very small. I know. I had one. But I was told this upfront and asked if it was ok. I was by myself, and considering I was checking in […] at 9AM!! I was just fine with it. Right in the heart of the french quarter. Jackson square , french market, and burbon street all just a block or 2 away. This hotel has parking, it costs but is nice to have your car right there especially since it is about the same price at public parking. Friendly staff, clean hotel. Rooms smaller than average big hotels but perfect size for a couple […] just getting away. We really liked the hotel setup and it felt very safe even so close to burbon street. The staff were AWESOME!!! Great experience!!!

I only stayed one night but the service was excellent. The desk staff was extremly helpful. The hotel is charming and its in a great location!

Even though the room is small but neat, their service sucks. Started with a 45 minute wait to check in with only person person ahead of me. Then they charge a hidden fee for $5 to use their toilets, showers, wifi, & phone calls. Then they help you with parking and charge a fee WITHOUT telling you. I was so disappointed with HOTEL ROYAL. I recomend you […] DO NOT stay here. I woduld rather stay in a cheap motel then stay here again. They will not ever get my service again from me, my friends, or my family. Devamı

Booked with Hotels.com the deluxe suite. Arrived 730pm the only staff member on duty was not qualified to work the pencil sharpener. After 45 min of the FD clerk trying to navigate computer she tells me they don't have the room I booked available. That there are only 2 of these type suites and there always booked. Long story bla bla bla . Ok I gotover […] and said I would take the next best room. She checks us in and shows us to the room on the top floor with no elevator at this property. The room was very awkward and had no window. It's now 845 and I called Hotels.com and they were able to move us to the masion Duprey.great room with a balcony. Travelingjim Devamı

I was charged a "courtesy fee" of $5.95 per day for the "courtesy" of access to the internet and telephone. Hotels.com says that internet is free and included but they told me at the front desk that it was a mistake on the part of hotels.com (your site says that the information is managed by the property. My initial impression of the Hotel Royal was that it was a smal renovated space with a few less amenities than the larger chain hotels. The staff however made up the difference. They were not only helpful, but made me feel completely welcome. I felt like I was really staying with people who knew me. The one thing I need to mention is that they do have […] a strict NO PETS POLICY regardless of what the hotel pricing sites say. Although this was an issue, the problem was solved to my utmost satisfaction. The rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. The sheets and bed were very comfortable. There is no elevator that I noted so be ready to climb those courtyard stairs. Very close to everything you will want to do in The French Quarter. A pleasure. The hotel was very clean with a very comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Fantastic location. There just needs to be hotel parking available and vending machines.

Only 42 rooms this old historic place was full of character. Even though it was old it was modern

There is no parking at all. The hotel is vintage.

Nice place, decent price, great location!!! Room was small. Make sure you do not get a corner room or look at the room before you pack your stuff in. Good for the price though.

stayed in a beautiful room, looking onto the courtyard - great ambiance and great location. friendly staff. only thing was it got a bit loud at night when everyone was coming back because i was by the stairs.

inexpensive, in the quarter! room was small but very nice.

The hotel has 40 rooms and 7 parking places so it's first come first serve for parking. Public parking is available for $35 a night a few blocks over. Lots of stairs and very noisy. Staff was very nice though. Would not stay here again.

Great little hotel. Modernly remolded, quirky little rooms with wood floors, great bedding, flat screen tvs and very nice bathroom. The best part is the great neighborhood right outside your door. Coffee house across the street, lovely art shops up and down the street.

Suprise.... when you check in " surcharges" extra charge for wi fi,,, extra charge for safe, extra charge for room phone, extra charge for parking, dont be fooled by booking price... it will be 20% more, then they put a hold of $150 on your card for a week when you check in. other then that it was ok....

We stayed in room 17 (way up at the top) and enjoyed it very much. The room had just been remodeled and had a brand new bathroom with marble shower and floor. The bed was new, and the linens and towels were very nice. I have nothing but great things to say about our stay. It's right in the French Quarter and convenient to everything in the Quarter. […] I would definitly stay at this hotel on my next visit to New Orleans. The hotel is nice, The room is small but I liked it the shower is very big. I only have a couple comments, I would stay the hotel again but would have to make sure I had a different location and no car. First I got lucky, I was able to street part for 3 days. We stayed at the Hotel Royal on the night of our Honeymoon. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel and the historic features. Awesome location. If I could have changed anything, it would have been the rude comments that the desk attendant and porter were making about female guests in front of my wife. A great little hotel and at a bargain price.

This place is right in the French quarter and a close walk to tons of great places. It was a great price for the location. The rooms are tiny but very clean and updated and all you really need since you probably will spend most of your time out and about. They have a nice little courtyard and rooftop courtyard if you want to have bring some drinks and […] chat. I would definitely stay here again. My husband & I really wanted to experience the French Quater and this hotel fit us perfectly. The decor was comtemporary black & white and our room had an original b&w - museum quality image in it. (We're pro photographers that specialize in b&w) The service was fantastic - everyone there was so friendly. I was concerned about the Hotel after reading the reviews. However, it exceeded my expectations. The front desk poeple were amazing. They helped us with everything. I brought my family there for the weekend after a cruise. We had my grandmother there who is in a wheel chair. They do not have an elevator but were able to provide us with a first floor […] room. Old hotel, nicely renovated, but spare. Good beds. The top floor doesn't get wifi and the passageways are low for a tall person--I bumped my head several times. Good location if you want to be in the Quarter.

I found the Royal hotel to be a classic clean and updated (some still ongoing) hotel in the heart of the French Quarter. The guest rooms all face a centurial courtyard with a classic fountain. Very nice room. Very very small for the deluxe suite! I would not recommend staying in this room for over two days. Weird clapping noises happened all through the night in the bathroom. Great location. No parking

Overall good experience. The hotel's parking lot was full do we had to park about 5 blocks away, paying ALOT! We stayed in Room 6 it was neat and clean but tiny! Thank goodness my husband and I are not big people. The staff was GREAT!

The advertising is deceiving.....they mention parking - NOT! The advertise complimentary WiFi, then tried to charge me an amenity fee. The room we had was way up on the third floor attic, 4 flights of stairs and no elevator. If I was going to Mardi Gras and it was the only room available, then I might take it, but considering it wasn't, the room was […] the size of a shoe box. My boyfriend is 6'4" and hit his head many times. The bed was small, there was no hot water for the longest time, and our card keys did not work when we got in at 3am. Then we had to go find a public parking spot 3 blocks away. For the amount of $$ I paid in parking, I could have gotten a better deal. They are wayyyy overpriced. And the toiletries they brag about??? Who cares? The didn't even have a vending machine for water!!! Devamı
