Hotel Havana - San Antonio

LOVED Hotel Havana. Was there on business, but stayed one additional night. The hotel and rooms are beautifully decorated. This is not your standard cookie cutter hotel, with matching bedding and decor in every room. Each room is unique and themed after Havana, Cuba. My hotel room was spotless and had a snack and beverage basket full of amenities. The […] location is about 6 blocks from the Alamo/city center. You can take the riverwalk, but it does get a little sketchy at night. The hotel bar OCHO is awesome. The drinks are to die for and the food is outstanding. We had a restful time at the hotel. The room was clean and room service was prompt! It is within view of the River Walk. I would stay there again!

I stayed two nights while traveling for business and loved the Hotel Havana. If you like botique hotels, you will not be disappointed. The hotel is located on a quiet stretch of the River Walk, which was perfect for an evening jog. The restaurant next door (Ocho) had great food and service.

The hotel is very fancy but the beds are far too high and it is too noisy!! At 9am they were cleaning the canal under our windows!There is no breakfast included and it is already very pricy for the location I think. The neighborhood doesn't look safe at night. Loved this hotel but its not for everyone. If you like small, boutique, minimalist and cool hotels you'll like this place. Only suggestion would be to improve the lighting in the rooms and add more mirrors in the bathrooms.

My husband and I had a great stay at Hotel Havana So many big unpersonable hotels in San Antonio. This smaller property is so much more romantic and intimate.Everything was great. The only small thing we could have used was more storage for clothing no dresser just hooks on wall.I would highly recommend Hotel Havana.

Since Liz Lambert purchased the hotel, it's a truly wonderful place to stay. Ocho Restaurant is great. The basement bar is terrific. The staff is very friendly. I can't think of a better secret getaway than the Havana Hotel. What a gem!

If you want to visit San Antonionio & not be bothered by the conventioneers, Hotel Havana is the place for you. The hotel has wide-planked wood floors. It is located across the the street from the Navarro Street staircase to the quiet non-commercial area of the Riverwalk. My wife and I plan to return.

We stayed three nights at the Havana. Our first room, #25, had a lot of street noise, but we were able to move to a different room that was much quieter. The rooms are really great, but keep in mind there are no closets, only hooks. The Riverwalk is accessible just across the street, and during Christmas is just a magical place to walk. This hotel probably is not for everyone but we loved it. Having stayed many places on the Riverwalk, it's on the quieter end which I kind of liked. Stayed there with 3 other couples so we took advantage of the outdoor terrace on our floor to congregate and drink some wine. Comfy outdoor furniture and plenty of room for the 8 of us. Had a regular queen […] room and we found it to be spacious and comfortable. Loved the in room fridge - plenty of room to store our own stuff and stocked beverages were interesting and ran the gamut - something for everyone. Loved the whole Havana vibe and the old flavor of the hotel - wood floors etc. Only complaint would be noise - quite a bit of street noise and the birds were REALLY loud - saw another comment on that and thought someone was just being overly sensitive - but my friend commented it sounded like a pack of monkeys were outside our windows. Guess it was grackles but they started sqwaking pretty early in the morning. Also, no in room coffee maker (which really bummed me out), no closet (kind of weird) and no typical amenities - ironing board, hair dryer, etc. But no in room coffee forced us next door to OCHO for breakfast and I'm so glad we didn't miss out on that. Excellent coffee and really fabulous breakfast menu - don't miss it! (again, it's quirky with a definite Mexican/Cuban flair, but great). Don't waste your life staying in the cookie cutter chains, however nice they might be. This is a really neat old, 3 story "home" with everything you need. Ocho has a great menu and fun food also. Just do it! We were there for the R&R Marathon's bike tour. Perfect starting line.

The Hotel Havana is right next to the museum reach of the river walk, great for a evening stroll. Very nice room, vintage style with modern amenities. The basement bar is great, as is the restaurant Ocho.

Very different. Not the regular chrome & glass hotel. Back to the old Cuban days. We liked it.

This was a great stay. There was road construction around the hotel, so it was inconvientent to get there but the hotel itself was fabulous. It's located near the center of town, so the surrounding neighborhood is really unpleasant, but I did feel safe in the hotel. The staff was great. very cool, boutique hotel. loved our room- tall ceilings, lots of windows, comfy bed, sweet mini fridge, right off of the balcony. it felt like staying at a home as opposed to a hotel, if that makes sense.checkout the bar downstairs. only con- parking was double what hotels.com quoted it to be.

I was hesitant because the hotel is older, but I LOVED IT! Location, style, people and live music made me feel I was is CUBA! I will definately be back! The rooms are big, comfortable and I felt relaxed. I didnt want to leave, but I will definately recomment this when comming on a ROMANTIC venture!

Had a very nice stay, staff friendly and helpful,would stay again. Lacked some of the things you get accustomed to, coffee in room, microwave etc. but had a certain that old hotel flavor which was very nice. Resturant was very unique and item we had were excellent.

We booked a room at the Havana Hotel last minute on Memorial Day (through hotels.com). It was a surprisingly disappointing place. The only person that seemed to be working at the hotel was a young, totally disinterested girl at the check-in desk. Although the building has great architecture, there are minimal decorations, no ambiance, and it almost […] appeared deserted. Our room was okay, although certainly not worth the rack rates on their web site. There was a glass with water still in it on the desk in our room, probably left by the cleaning staff. We had heard good things about the restaurant Ocho, but it was closed. Also, the bar opened at 5:00 but the bartender was surly at best and acted like we were an imposition. The bar patio is beautiful - overlooking a gorgeous stretch of the riverwalk, but it, too, was deserted. The bartender never came out to see if we would like another drink, so we left and went to another place for dinner and drinks. A final bad taste came at check-out. The hotel web site had advertised parking at $10 per night but we were charged $18. When I questioned the girl working at the desk, she said too bad, it was $18 and that she would tell the web master to correct it on the web. The man checking out behind us was very upset, as he had been there several days, and still the girl did not offer to honor the $10 price. All in all, we would not stay there again. San Antonio has too many great hotels to choose from, and if the service isn't top-notch, we will go somewhere else. Devamı

The studio was smaller than imagined but stayed 5 nights and found it very cozy and quaint! The restaurant was pricey but there were many other choices within walking distance. Easy access to the River Walk, front desk personnel were very accommodating. Only thing we changed was leaving our car in the parking garage across the street for only $8/night […] opposed to the $25 the hotel charged. Devamı

Hotel Havana is a quaint little hotel located close to the action of the Riverwalk. The rooms are neat and tidy with a full-sized, well-stocked refrigerator ($$ bar items). The hotel staff was very friendly and made me feel like they appreciated by business. There is a nice bar and restaurant on the basement floor of the hotel that was very convenient. […] We didn't eat in the restaurant during our stay (but really wanted to because the menu looked good and very reasonably priced) but did visit the bar....several hand-crafted specialty Cuban beverages along with the usual bar standards. There are several couches and lounge chairs to sit in and enjoy a less-roudy bar experience. I would highly recommend this hotel! Devamı

Very small and cozy; quiet and romantic. Rustic but vey nice. Reasonable walking distance to main part of Riverwalk. WiFi. Fridge but no coffee pot. Would definitely stay there again!

Another wonderful stay in this hidden gem in San Antonio. Wonderful new restaurant/bar in Ocho; great service and an exquisite boutique hotel away from the crowds of the Riverwalk. Excellent location ...my trips are buisness, New resturant opened added to the comfort of the hotel. Great staff go out of their way. This is my 6 trip in 7 months.

The Hotel Havana is an old world gem brought to life as a boutique hotel on the River Walk of San Antonio. The staff is very friendly, professional, the room are immaculately clean, the beds are amazing, all new fittings in an old world setting. Ocho lounge by the River Walk is an atrium setting, delicious, interesting little plates, friendly staff […] and beautiful sunsets. The hotel was excellent. It had its own unique and cozy Cuban flare, the staff was friendly and it's right across the street from the River Walk. We had a great time!

I arrived to an empty lobby waited to check in. No help with luggage up 4 steps I'm disabled got to room no ac wait 2 hours in the bar good manhatten but they were $10. They charged for all even though I was waiting for the room because nothing else was available. Go to the st anthony better rooms service and staff

Excellent hotel...personal friendly service. The breakfast is a bit expensive, plenty of places to go around the hotel.

This hotel is unique, the staff was helpful and friendly and it was convient to old SanAntonio and the River Walk. We are already thinking of another visit.

I travel alot and have stayed in many top-rated hotels. After a while they all begin to look the same. Hotel Havana does not fall in that "cookie cutter" category. The staff is very friendly and more than accommodating. The rooms are cozy and very "theme" oriented. We sat on the vereranda every evening and enjoyed some wine and story - swapping with […] the other guests. I suggest you have a martini at the bar in the basement, order the cuban coffee service every morning and listen to all the local folklore about the Hotel Havana! I loved the place so much that I purchased some of the candles that create a red glow in the hotel each evening. I just had to have a piece of the Hotel Havana at home! Devamı

The experience at this hotel was quite a memorable one. Very much looking forward to visiting San Antonio again and staying here. There was a little bit of building/construction noise outside our window each morning but it was from the new bar area they are building that faces the Riverwalk. Other than that, a wonderful stay! Highly recommended.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and it is very charming. The rooms are decorated with individual tastes and I would stay here if I was here on a holiday. As a business traveler, the hotel lacks amenities and service but it is nice that the hotel has FREE wifi. Also, do not stay in the first room and when making reservations, always request […] a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable and helpful but it is usually one man manning the front desk. There is a very cute cigar bar in the basement but while I was there, the restaurant was closed. Great stay - friendly staff - delicious margaritas. I could walk to the Alamodome in 10 minutes for the NCAA tourney. This is a beautiful and unique hotel and if you are a high maintenance traveler who needs the uniformity of a hotel chain (100% silence at all times, bad stock paintings on the wall) this will NOT be for you. I was on a mini vacation and really enjoyed my stay. The staff was friendly and the hotel is beautiful. This is the perfect hotel if you want to relax.

I work in the hotel business in nearby Austin and made a quick vacation out of staying at Havana. Once I knew it was a boutique hotel renovated by Liz Lambert, I was sold and nothing disappointed. Small, simple, yet sophisticated and completely charming with warm service to match. What's the fun in staying somewhere that looks like any other hotel? […] None. What a wonderful stay in San Antonio at the Hotel Havana. The accomodations were excellent and such a comfortable atmosphere. The staff recommended excellent sites to visit and "local" restaurants for eating. Easy access to the Riverwalk and a very safe feeling in the neighborhood.
