New Africa Hotel - Dar Es Salaam

I liked the atmosphere of the hotel... the lobby is not spectacular but the room and dining area have a special atmosphere... old structures getting nicely renovated with a stunning view of the harbor.

Very close to the ferry to Zanzibar, room with the view of the bay was excellent.

Stayed two nights in New Africa and was very satisfied! The location was great, close to the port where the ferrys to Zanziar leaves. The room was spacious and we had a nice view on the harbour. Having checked other hotels in Dar, we were very pleased we opted for the New Africa - as great view of harbour & watching the churchgoers and listening to the choirs at church next door was part of the fun, we didn't find the noise at all obtrusive (as some reviewers had complained). Staff had cleared away breakfast buffet at 10.10am although it said […] in room that breakfast served until 10.30am. They obligingly fetched breakfast for us. Devamı

Very nice staff, smiling and helpful. Right now there are major upgrades being done on the hotel, and we received a letter that the works were being performed between 10 am - 5 pm. But in our first night looks like some workers decided to advance on their job, and stayed past 11 pm, making a really noisy night, and nobody could do something to help […] us at that time. Next day the Manager apologized personally and guaranteed this wont happen again. (excellent person Mr Eric). Devamı

The hotel provided nice accomodations. Nothing too fancy. On Friday night there was lots of noise as a party was going on full force in the bar.

This Hotel was the only example of 'pole pole Africa' that we came across. The staff were very unhelpful and it took us over 4 hours to get the room we paid for. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The only good thing I can say about the hotel was that the room (corner suite) was very nice, once we got it.

I have stayed in several hotels across Africa and this was one of the most disappointing. The rooms are old, windows broken, carpets stained, and faucets leaky. It's in serious need of renovations. The service was okay, but did not make up for the facilities. I would recommend staying away from this place until its renovated. Also, beware, the rooms […] facing the water, while a lovely view, have the pleasure of waking up to the loudest church service I have ever heard every morning at 6am. Devamı

The room was decent, but what stood out were the location (perfect!), the staff (incredibly friendly!) and the Bandari restaurant in the hotel which served brilliant food! There's also a good Thai restaurant on the 9th floor that has a great view of the harbour. The room rates are a bit steep but it's certainly good value for what you pay.

Overall our experience of the hotel was a very positive one, however, service in the restaurant was not as expected. An order for tea came as coffee. We had to ask for them to find the chef to cook a breakfast. When we pointed out that there were no tea spoons on any of the tables we were just ignored. The food, however, when we got it was great. […]  It was just the staff's attention to detail that let them down. Having said all of that we would certainly go back. Devamı

Vaikka hotelli on jo iäkäs, sen palvelut pelaavat ja koko ajan huoneita uudistetaan. Sijainti keskellä Daria aivan Sansibarin katamaraanialusten lähtöpikan läheisyydessä on ihanteellinen.

Hotellissa oli kaikkialla ystävällinen palvelu ja huoneet pidettiin siistinä. Henkilökunta keskusteli mielellään hotellivieraiden kanssa. Kylpyhuoneessa suihku vaatii korjausta tulevaisuudessa. Hotellissa tehtiin jo jonkin verran remonttia. Hotellin aamiainen oli erinomainen ja oli hyvä, että aamiaisen sai varattua jo hotels.comin kautta. Varaustilanteessa […] olisin halunnut vaihtoehtoiksi kaksi yksittäistä vuodetta merinäköalalla, mutta sitä ei varauksen valinoissa ollut tarjolla, vain Pool Facing Rooms. Hotelli on keskeisellä paikalla luterilaisen kirkon vieressä, joten hotellilta on lyhyt matka eri virastoihin, museoon, satamaan, kirjastoon ja lähikatujen kauppoihin. Devamı

Качество обслуживания хорошее, отель расположен рядом с портом, в ресторане готовят посредственно, но это оказалось везде, много морепродуктов, а вкусно поесть невозможно. На обратном пути остановились опять в этом отеле, но возникли некоторые проблемы с заселением. Номер готовили около час, пришлось пообщаться со старшим менеджером, после этого предоставили […] двухкомнатный номер по цене обнокомнатного, что сгладило неприятное впечатление. Devamı

Payable internet is pretty fast. Gym is a bit small but has the essential stuff. Unfortunately the pool is not straight, so it's difficult to swim lenghts. Breakfast buffet is ok - nice view from the first floor to the streets.
