I dont know why the bad reviews about this Hotel as I didnt see anything wrong with it.Main thing for me was the bed was comfy.Only minus was no free wi fi.Most hotels in Honolulu are over $200 a night.

The hotel was above our expectations. We got a cool city/ canal view, we didn't pay so much to stay there for a week, the room was pretty big and we liked the area, it definately felt safe. The distance from Waikiki beach was a little minus but not a big minus, still it is a 5-10 minute walk but that is ok. The hotel pool and pool deck seemed great […] even though we didn't go swimming. There was one day that the cleaners forgot to make our bed, and the hairdryers are low energy dryers so it takes like two hours to get your hair dry. I would pick the hotel if I came back though. It's a budget hotel that's seen better years. If you're not going to spend much time in your room and you just need a cheap place to sleep, this may be for you.

Can't believe they have no wifi. And if you want internet they charge a bit over 7 bucks a day for some modem to hook up to your laptop. this hotel is stuck in the 90's.

This was our second trip to Hawaii.This time we stayed for three weeks at the Hawaiian Monarch Hotel.The hotel is rather dated. But we have chosen this budget hotel as if you are planning to be out all days, you do not need any extraordinary comfort just for overnight stays. Our room located on the 16th floor provided not only a wonderful view of the […] mountains but also all the necessary equipment needed during our vacation - a microwave, a small refrigerator, a coffee maker and an iron. The room was kept clean every day. A little bit noisy air conditioning unit,could be well operated,either reduced or switched-off during the night.The bathroom was dated,but the clean towels and essential toiletries were available all the time.Swimming pool and gas grills were accessible to hotel guests on the sixth floor.We enjoyed the heated whirlpool – really fascinating relaxation there!What we greatly appreciated was the staff and hotel´s location!Both the staff at the front desk and the housekeepers were very friendly and helpful.I was lacking an internet connection but I rented a modem that made me an internet available. For the drivers parking space is available within the building. The Hawaiian Monarch is pefectly located – closed to the main shopping streets–Kalakua and Kuhio Ave,10 min walk to the Waikiki Beach and Hawaiian Village,5 min walk to the Convention Center,15 min walk to the Ala Moana Shopping Center or Walmart.To reach the bus stop takes you 5 min walk. Just cheap enough to stay for as couple of days. Conditions were awful. Bath tub peeling coated paint, ac that sounded like a 747 landing, dreary hallways. It was a motel at best. Try to avoid at all cost,but in a pinch, it works.

It was great for the price. It had tv,small fridge, iron. Location was great for the price just a walk away from all the major waikiki attractions and close to bus stops. It was a little dated and could use upgrade but that is prob the reason its so cheap. Great stay!

Very disappointing from the pool to the lobby to the rooms. The room with a king bed was very small. The carpet was filthy. We could smell cigarette smoke even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking hotel. No decent place to eat on the premises. The towels were small and very thin. One side of the bed did not have a night stand. The armoire was […] filthy inside. No business center to check emails. No valet service. The is a 2 star at best, not a 3 star hotel. It is close to Waikiki..couple of blocks. The worst part was hotel guests had to pay for parking. $16 a day...$96 for a week. Ouch! This hotel is just fine for its price range. Very close to beaches, restaurants, shopping. Our view of the Ala Wai canal and Diamond Head was beautiful. The room and bathroom are tiny (so not meant to spend a lot of time in it with the family), but the shower has a good amount of water from the shower head and always lots of hot water. There was also […] good storage (closet and big dresser) and a drying line in the bathroom. No lanai. If you want to hook up to internet, call ahead, they only have 3 ether net devices to rent out. The beds and pillows are comfortable, the spreads and carpet are old, but clean enough. I was a little worried about booking this hotel after reading some of the other reviews. They couldn't be more incorrect. All of the staff was wonderful and helpful. The hotel is a little dated, but it is extremely clean. The area is ideal - far enough away from the noise and crowds, but close enough to still enjoy. There are several restaraunts nearby […] - within a few minutes walk. Once again - the best part of the stay was the hotel staff. We stay in budget hotels because we don't spend alot of time in the hotel. The staff at this hotel was by far the most friendly and accommodating that we have encountered. Nice view. Couldn't open windows for fresh air, smoking and non smoking rooms on same floor. No voice mail for phones. I would not stay there again. Was a long walk to city bus stop.

Location is good if you dont mind walking (we like to) 15 to 20 mins to Ala Moana Centre and same to Waikiki Bus close by. My big complaint would be the bed itself one pillow the linen very thin,the carpet was Dyed not replaced the mixer valve on the shower hard to open, taps on basin squealed the bath surface was breaking down and the Cistern wouldnt […] flush on our last day the small chain link rusted away.The very important Safe is so antiquated. I,m comparing with a number of other Waikiki hotels we stayed at over time at similar cost however not at Christmas .Bottom Line I booked this hotel on short notice with not much else available still think its not worth the Dollars charged so if you have to it is clean thats the main thing......... December 2012- It would be more appropriate to sleep in a park down the street versus in this hotel. Great location however it is in in an apt building with many sketchy associates. Front desk employees were incredibly polite and helpful and the pool on the 6th floor was an asset. This hotel was in no way fancy or luxurious, but the price was right. There was evidence of remodeling on lower floors, so it's possible that the dingy carpet and low blue lights are going away sometime soon. Our room was fine, and clean. Great rates for a basic clean room within walking distance of everything. Third time there. Perfect for an affordable place to come back to after enjoying a days activities. Cheep scooter parking available on site. Hope to go back soon.

The staff was generous with their help, tsunami sirens blaring, I was safe up in the 15th floor (the wave was 4 extra inches in the harbor as far as I could tell) it was a fine place to have a cheap room.

The customer service guest: There was a young lady working the front the entire time of my stay. She was not unpleasant but not smiling nor welcoming. Also, I asked her once to hail a cab for a group of 7. They sent a cab that could only seat 6 so 2 of the people in our party had to wait for another cab which took another 30 mins. The elevators: They […] required a room key in order to go anywhere except the lobby. Seemed a bit tedious for the quality of hotel. The room: It was not spectacular. The floor was ok but I was not sure I wanted to walk on it bare foot. The beds did look clean and kept. The view was actually pretty nice of the water and local joggers below. The room did have a small fridge and microwave which was very practical. The bathroom was ok except for the bath/shower. The bath tub needed to be resurfaced (again unsure if I wanted to step in barefoot). The shower curtain did not seem to cover the entire tub very well. Overall, the hotel was not terrible but not impressive by any means. It will be satisfactory for those looking for the lowest possible cost and still be near Waikiki. Truly, you will be getting your moneys worth from this experience. One plus the hotel was well within walking distance of Cheeseburger in Paradise, Waikiki which I attended twice and loved both times. Devamı

Shower didn't have enough water pressure so I had a hard time. Carpet in the room looked very old and dirty so I was afraid to walk on my bare foot. It was nice to have a big fridge and microwave. Again, blinds around the windows were all dirty.

It was everything we were looking for in a hotel, somewhere clean to sleep. The beds were a little on the stiff side, but overall loved the hotel and the view we had. We'd stay here again. i had called a day before to confirm my reservation, i was told early check in was an option because i had a baby. when i arrived to the hotel i was greeted by a gentelmen that was supposly new and i checked in around 1. he told me i would have to wait till 3 and i explained to him i called yesterday and they told me i could check in if rooms were avalible. […] so an hour i waited for him to figure out how to re-do the key for me and i was checked in to a room that was just gross, it still had food stuck in the mircowave and my room faced a hotel where another hotel was so close i couldnt leave my window open because the gentleman across from me could see in my room.....i was beyond dissapointed in the service and cleaniness of the room, i would not reccomend this place or ever stay here again. My bf and I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks, and i really can't fault it. We had a stunning view from our room that overlooked the mountains and it was so cheap compared to anything around. The only bad comments were that the shower/bath was sooo old, but everything worked, just could do with being updated. It is quite a walk to get to Waikiki beach […] and if you wanted to go to the beach everyday i probably recommend a closer hotel, however there are buses, 'TheBus' that go there for £2.50 one way. The neighbourhood was great, didn't have any issues there. If you want somewhere cheap and cheerful then this is where you should be :) Devamı

The hotel is run down (i.e. holes in the bedspread, tears and stains in the carpet, etc.), but it is in a relatively good location. The walk to the center of Waikiki Beach is less than a mile, and very pleasant (lots of parks, shops and restaurants on the way). There are additional charges for parking and internet. The pool is adequate, and the pool […] towels are good. There is a great bar downstairs (King's Pub) with very good beer specials. The sundry store and little Japanese food take out are also good. I didn't get to sample the restaurant (Cream Pot), but it looked good. The front desk is supposed to be staffed 24/7, but there were a number of times we could not get anyone there. Got there early, however, they wouldn't let us check in until 3. Got to our room and there was still someone cleaning the room. The shower didn't turn off all the way and the toilet kept breaking. Our room was never cleaned in the 5 day period we were there. Cheap hotel, but will definitely fork out more money next time to stay at a better hotel.

check-in was easy enough, room shower had issues with inconsistent hot/cold temp, one night I seen a bug outside the doorway threshold, when i asked to have a courtesy late check out male I spoke to was not accommodating, but rather direct to the point and callus. they were conducting construction at my time of stay, before you make reservation call […] to see if it is still the condition, and perhaps consider another site. walls are thin, and a good night sleep will not be had. This hotel is a bit run down and the neighborhood across street is bad...however it is not far to walk to Ala Moana mall, convention center or Hilton Village/Waikiki. Room was small and aging but the bed & shower were clean so it worked for a one night stay.

I liked this hotel for several reasons. Most important to me was the location. It was very convenient to shopping and the beach. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The room was comfortable, a good size for my needs with a frig, microwave and coffee maker.

The window AC unit was not fitted properly in the cutout opening. The outside air was leaking into the room because the bottom of the unit was not sealed and there was about a 1/2 inch opening along the bottom edge of the unit. The hotel maintenance person stuffed a 20-24 inch sponge like material to plug the opening but it was still leaking altough […] not as much without the "fix". The view of the Aa Wai canal was very good because you looked down on the Canoe Clubs practicing and the baseball and soccer teams playing in the fields adjacent to the canal. The $16.00 a day parking was a nightmare since we were at the hotel for 14 days. No reduced rate available for extended stay at the hotel. Coffee was free only for the first night. No bed/pillow sweet chocolate or cookie. Sticky knobs remote switches should be cleaned. Nightly sirens a problem. Devamı
