The Virginian Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel - Arlington

Slightly difficult to find at first, but nicely updated and clean. Was very surprised that the kitchen was clean - you can just never be sure about public kitchens, but all of the appliances and surfaces throughout the room were clean. After the first tine I was hooked. Thats my favorite hotel in the world. The staff are nice and friendly and make you feel welcome.

Super friendly staff. Very convenient for Arlington Cemetery by foot, or Key Bridge by car. Some of the furniture/bed in the room was in need of replacement because of normal wear and tear. But otherwise basically clean.

While attending a conference in the Arlington/Rosslyn area, I stayed at the Virginian Suites one night before changing to the conference hotel, a national chain hotel. Compared to this other hotel, my room at the Virginian Suites was cleaner, quieter, and larger. I was in a suite so I had an area with couch, coffee table, chairs and desk; separate full […] service kitchen; large closest; dressing area, bathroom; and queen bed. I had one phone by the bed, but none near the desk or couch. The staff was very friendly. Parking was adequate. I used my GPS to get to the hotel; otherwise, I'm not sure I would have found it at my late night arrival. I would recommend this hotel to others; but would warn them that if they had a lot of luggage or difficulty walking, the entrance door did not open automatically and there are steps up to the registration desk and elevators (no ramp). The hotel does not serve a complimentary breakfast and there are no restaurants attached to or within easy walking distance to the hotel. Devamı

Just off the beaten path, on the other side of rt. 50. Nice hotel. Charges for parking, which is pretty annoying at $9/day. Should really be free or per stay. Front desk staff was very helpful. Quiet street. Good neighborhood for walking/running.

It seems this property must have been an older apartment bldg converted to hotel suites. The sitting area - dining, living and desk area - is quite spacious but the bathroom is VERY small. Tight squeeze to fit two of us to get ready. The kitchen is small but complete with cookware and dishes. The furniture is updated and contemporary but the carpeting […] is very old and worn. I am picky about bedding and the queen-size mattress pad on our king size bed was lumpy and annoying. The property is a couple of blocks away from the Metro and Wilson Blvd. The great rate and free parking we got was worth the small bathroom and so-so bedding. Devamı

The hotel was OK. Conveniently located to Rosslyn T station, which can take you to Washington downtown. Price worthy.

Good location, convenient to DC, spacious and clean rooms, great price!

This hotel was very closely located to Rossyln...just a short walk across an overpass to the hub. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the provisions, and would gladly return.

Good place to stay with a reasonable price. Good room and bed.

I first read the reviews of this hotel on this site and mostly all said great things about this hotel and i can see why. When you first get here it does't look or seem like your ordinary hotel from the outside. Don't feel let down when you first arrive; the building is older but that has some definite advantages! It's not just a room--it's a suite with a full kitchen. Everything has been updated. This is a well kept secret for convenience to No. Virginia / Rosslyn /Capitol Hill / Georgetown / Crystal City, etc. It is an older building with old world class, a great staff and the most comfortable beds and fluffy pillows ever. I was pleased with this hotel. If you are driving in for the first time, use your GPS. Once there, you will find a lovely location in an upscaled part of Arlington, VA. Overlooking Roslyn, DC. Very close to the back gate of Arlington Cemetary too. Staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are comfortable, clean and very spacious. Stayed here on new years eve between my girlfriend and I while checking out first night at Alexandria. I have to say the spacious appeal of the room made our jaws drop upon first entering. It was almost like a mini apartment with fully furnished kitchen, living room and bedroom. There were no bars on the windows and it was almost too much space. Overall a great night. This hotel has wonderful spacious queen suites, but is very dated. The GAS stoves are a concern as far as safety.The toilet seats are about as old as Abe Lincoln...unbelievably old and in need of replacement. Good - Large, essentially one-bedroom apartments. Bad - Aged, and poorly designed. The soft shell of the tub enclosure dipped between the joists when I stood in it. Good - Nice neighborhood. Bad - practically impossible to get a cab on time. Good - housekeeping staff goes out of their way. Bad - Front desk is horrible. They lack procedure, training […] and capability. Simple tasks were challenging. Don't count on getting a cab through the front desk unless you have 30-60 minutes to wait for one. Call the cab company yourself and make certain they have your name so some other frustrated customer doesn't take your cab. Good - they run a shuttle from the hotel to the Metro. Bad - there is no schedule and you have to look carefully for when they don't run, when they are doing a grocery store run, or when they are running to another facility they service. The Metro is across the street and down half a block from where they drop you off and pick you up. Since you don't know the schedule, you're standing on the street waiting. Dress appropriately and take an umbrella. There is no restaurant in the building. But there is a call in service which delivers food from many restaurants. I recommend this hotel IF you have your own car, are flexible about the age of the building, and don't rely on any services from the front desk. Devamı

The room was like an apartment with a kitchen, decent bathroom and huge closet. The grocery store and the metro (transit train) station were both within easy walking distance. The front desk has a great map of the local area. This hotel does not have all the amenities (e.g., continental breakfast), but it is a great deal for what it is.

I stayed at the Virginian for just one night as I was in town seeing my son. This is really a nice place to stay. It isn't a knew hotel but it is clean the service was very good. The suites really offer a great place for a family stay. The walk to the Metro is convenient and the neighborhood feels safe. I plan on staying here again. Cheap compared to other hotels in area, ample space in room. Overall had a nice experience

I brought my family here because we wanted to visit DC and surrounding areas. The hotel is nice but its condition is not for the fanciest of guests. Our room was upgraded for no charge to a suite, but kitchenette was very old, bathroom very old, carpet was decent but you could see where the installer didnt even go all the way to the wall. very convenient location close to arlington cemetery and a few grocery stores. rooms look like a converted apartment. fridge, stove, microwave and cooking/eating utensils a plus for extended stay. a decent hotel if you aren't expecting the ritz.

This is a beautiful hotel room. The high ceilings and dated architecture were appreciated. The suite I stayed in had all of the amenities that I would have needed (had I actually cooked there). Very nice staff. I forgot my toothpaste and within minutes housekeeping brought me a new tube. Other places I've had to go to the front desk, or they would take […] hours. Flights were delayed enroute to DC b/c of the freak end-of-Oct snowstorm that hit the east coast. I arrived at 3am on Oct 29th after almost a 5 hour flight delay. The Virginian Suites Reciptionist was a delight welcoming me to the hotel as a late arrival, encouraging me to go to my room and sleep and switch the cooling system to heat. The room was nice […] and clean; full shower blast, and I crashed until 9am. I had a studio suite with a full kitchen and stove and dishwasher! I think that the staff is extremely accomodating to guests; provide TIPS on where to shop, restaurants, etc., plus the M-F 6:30am - 7:30pm shuttle provides transport to the Metro and the Safeway grocery store. I highly recommend the hotel for its amenties, especially for business travel ( I arrived early to support colleague running in the Marine Marathon, then worked M-Thurs), families traveling w/small kids (kitchen facilities), close to park -Iwo Jima Statue- for outdoor activities to run, walk, or skateboard, walking distance to Metro and DC Georgetown. An excellent hotel...no problem with WIFI or satellite TV...highly recommended. I Devamı

Though the hotel was a bit old, we were very satisfied with our room. It was quite large and comfortable for 3 of us and our 60 lb dog. It was clean plus it had everything we needed. Also, we never felt unsafe (since this was our first time to the DC area). We would definitely go back and stay here.

The purpose of the trip was to do some sight seeing and relaxation. The hotel prices in the main area of DC were more than we were willing to pay. At the last minute we were able to book this hotel at a great rate. The hotel is close enough to all of the great DC attractions and offers great suites that look like studio apartments. This was our first trip to Virginia/Washington DC area. I would choose the Virginian Suites again. I liked having a kitchenette. We ate the continental breakfast each day at the hotel. The hotel was nice but a bit old. The air conditioning did not work well in either of the rooms in which we stayed. In the evening we were told breakfast was available in the hotel. In the morning we were told our rooms did not include breakfast and it appeared that only "high end" rooms quailfied for breakfast. I used this hotel while travelling on a USA road trip. Firstly like most people I used this hotel because it was cheap and close to DC. I was impressed with the location and condition of this hotel. There was free wifi but it wasn't working in the evening which wasn't too much of a problem as it was back up and running in the morning. The parking was […] not free but was a very cheap price. As far a locality, there are plenty of restaurants, shops and bars nearby but no food located on site apart from a vending machine. The room itself was more like a one bedroom apartment. It has a lounge, dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Slightly dated but very clean and presentable. The Iwo Jima Memorial is a very short walk or even shorter drive away. In short, if you want Hilton quality, pay Hilton prices! If you want a low cost hotel that is very clean and located close to the Metro and DC this is the hotel for you Thanks for a great stay. I stayed at the Virginian Suites in mid-September. I had a one bedroom suite. The living space was much larger than I expected; it was larger than the first apartment my wife and I lived in after we were married!. Short walk to center of Rosslyn and Metro, or take the hotel shuttle. Easy hop to the District. Comfortable rooms with separate kitchenettes, sitting and dining areas. Older facility, but clean. Staff is friendly. A little irritating that the hotel charges guests for parking when there is plenty of space.

Never expected to get a bigger space for our family vacation. All rooms are equipped with needed things and yes, my family enjoyed every moment of the stay ar Virginian Suites. Only thing was not expected was the internet speed, it was slow, slow on that day, probably!

Yes the room was spacious that would be the only thing that was ok. The hotel and rooms compared to the pictures on the web site were very different. Web site looked clean and modern, reality is the hotel was old and musty and the view was of streets and highway. The room was so damp that when I walked in my bare feet, they got wet. My kids have asthma […] and I was not sure how they would handle the night. The comforter in the bedroom had a stain on it. I have never complained for a new room, but I should have. My 14 night stay was very comfortable. The only shortcomings were the following: - the breakfast was limited to only frozen or prepackaged items. This is a nice, though dated, hotel with very nice staff. Suites are large. However, this is not the place to stay for business. It just lacks some of they typical business environment. It is probably great for families or tourists but you're probably better off at a Hampton Inn or the like for a business trip.

We only stayed 1 night in this hotel. The room was very large and the bed comfortable. Definitely great room amenities. The hotel hallways needed some touch-ups. The pool and pool deck was very nice. The neighborhood was great and we even walked to a restaurant for lunch and then went into town for dinner. Not a bad place to stay. It is a bit of a walk to get to anything, but very nice that they have a shuttle to the Metro station. We had a issue with the toilet in the bathroom and maintenance was up within 30min to get it fixed. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

The hotel is very roomy and there is a complete kitchen (microwave, ref, oven, diswasher etc.). But surrounding is not as good as expected. Elevator looks old, need some re touch. I would suggest that self parking should be free since its outside and part of the hotel property. In general its good.

This hotel, was awesome! It is technically a 4 star hotel that's because of certain discrepancies It is a 2.5 star hotel. The staff is so helpful. Right next to the iwo jima memorial this place is amazing!

Pretty decent location, just 3 1/2 blocks from the Rossylln metro station. I had a contingency of Colombian exchange students with me who absolutely loved the suite and the pool. Only drawback was that there was no food on the premises. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
