Hotel De Gerstekorrel - Amsterdam

This is basically a hostel. You don't even get a key to your room, you're not allowed visitors, and the front door of the hotel is locked after 8pm.

Fantastic location, seconds from Dam square and nearby attractions. Friendly service. Hotel reeks of curry and nasty grease from the lower level vendors.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Because this was advertised as a 2-star hotel, our expectations were pretty low. Turns out the hotel is right in the heart, 2 minute walk from Dam Square and 5 minutes to Chinatown and infamous red light district. There are plenty of restaurants and souvenirs shops around hotel. Fairly priced breakfast and meals are easily […] available at these restaurants. Hotel lobby as practically just a little corner next to stairway. Room though small was clean. Beds in our twin room were comfortable. As our room was away from the street, it was fairly quiet. The only negative was there was no lift and we have to lug our heavy luggage up 2 floors of narrow stairway. Overall, it was a pleasant stay at an affordable price. I would recommend . Despite only being a 2* hotel, I was slightly wary about what to expect, however the reviews were the main reason we booked up here. Perfectly located, friendly staff, room not massive but served it's purpose. Beds were very comfortable, room was clean and maids came in every day to freshen the place up. Only point to make is you will be charged 50 […] Euros at arrival as a deposit so make sure you make reception aware of any faults in the room when you get in so they don't charge you at check out. We stayed in a triple room as three 21 year old males. Would definitely recommend to others. Devamı

Great location, right off Dam Square. Amsterdam Central Train Station is a 10-minute walk, Anne Frank house is a 15-min walk, and the hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Hotel very expensive for what we got. No bar/restaurant/lift + a extra €12.50 for LOCAL TAX As my party were all over 50 years of age, the fact that there was no lift in the Hotel and we were on the 4th floor it made life very difficult.

Hotel De Gerstekorrel will never be mistaken for a 5, 4 or even a 3 star hotel, but it has a combination of four things going for it that you will have trouble finding in Amsterdam. First, it is located just steps from Dam Square which makes it accessible to all areas of Amsterdam through public transportation (most tram hubs are just a 2 minute walk […] through the Square) and of course it makes all of Central Amsterdam accessible by foot. Second, it is clean. There are no bedbugs, or at least I did not bring any home with me, and certainly no rodents running back and forth. This is usually difficult to find in budget hotels in the center of the city. Third, the staff was all very kind (we saw 3 receptionists), and someone is at the desk 24 hours a day. There is a strange procedure of leaving your door key at the desk when you leave, but because it is constantly monitored, there is never any trouble picking it back up, and it's one less thing to worry about while walking about town. Last and typically most obvious, the hotel is definitely budget priced. I stayed with a friend and we paid around the same amount per person as we would in a 2-person private room in a hostel and didn't have to share a bathroom with the entire floor. The security is well worth it if you're traveling with desirable toys (laptop, ipad, etc.) or have gifts to purchase (diamonds from Amsterdam!). Sure, it's a tiny room, but why are you spending so much time in your hotel when you can see one of the greatest cities on Earth? PS - Anyone complaining about the shower and flooding, all you have to do is lower the curtain rod to the floor and then you don't have water splashing all over the place. If you lack that much common sense, perhaps you ought to rethink the idea of leaving the comfort of your home. Devamı

The hotel is central located right by the Dam Square. There is 24 hour reception. I would recommend the hotel if you are just staying a night or two. If you are spending more than 3 nights in Amsterdam, I would recommending upgrading hotels. The hotel would be comfortable for one or two nights, but climbing the steep stairs after 3 nights can tiresome. […] Overall the hotel is a good value for the location and the price we paid. Chambres très petites, lits peu confortables, pas d'ascenseur, WC/salle de bain très exigue (l'eau de la douche recouvre toute la pièce). Mais l'emplacement à deux pas de Dam Plein est excellent.

Cet hôtel est,pour commencer, idéalement placé en bordure du quartier rouge à 3 minutes à pied mais sans trop avoir le côté sonore la nuit. Bonne literie, bien situé , en revanche la chambre de 4 au premier étage est très bruyante parce que située juste au dessus des cuisine d'une boulangerie.

Prima hotel, goede service bij in en uitchecken. Goede ligging voor een mooi verblijf in hartje Amsterdam. Dit na het bijwonen van een bruiloft in het centrum.

The pictures looked promising and I forgot that it only was a two star hotel. I cannot imagine that I will book the hotel again.

Ett mycket prisvärt hotell mitt i centrum. Man kan beställa en mindre frukost som man får upp på rummet. Lyxigt trots hotellets 2 stjärnor. Rummet var rent och fräscht, hade tv och dusch på rummet. Det var endast 5 min gångavstånd till Red Light District. 10 min gångavstånd till Plaza Mall, ett mycket bra köpcentrum. Detta är ett mycket enkelt och prisvärt […] hotell mitt i centrum. Ligger efter en gata med livlig trafik, men får du ett rum som vätter innåt hör du inget av stadsbruset. Mycket brant trappa till rummen. Rent men inget extra. Funkar bra för en till två nätter.

Ikke noe super hotell, men du kan knapt bo mer sentralt. Trangeste resepsjonen jeg har sett, men hyggelige ansatte. Minuset var en del bråk om natta fra Dam Straat, rar lukt fra badet og mangel på heis. 5 etasje uten heis er travelt når du har tunge kofferter.

Rigtig god service, meget hjælpsom og vidende. Stedet ligger centralt. Ikke det oplagte sted for en romantisk tur.

Beliggenheden og værelset var for så vidt helt i orden. Vi ankom kl. 11 og det var fint at få opmagasineret baggagen. Vi fik at vide at værelset ville være klar kl. 14 og efter et par regnfulde timer gik vi tilbage til hotellet kl. 14.15. Da vi måtte sidde ude på trappen og vente på at værelset blev klart.... Den unge mand havde åbenbart haft så travlt […] at han ikke havde nået at fjerne en masse lange hår fra den ene pyntepude og toilettet lugtede af urin.... ikke særlig lækker måde at starte sin ferie på Devamı

It was right. The hotel not a Grasham, but not that price what we pay. It was a correct price for a correct room. There was a lot of steps, but it's ok for us. I have only one problem, the bed was too soft. But the hotel is in the centrum, the central is only 10 minutes walk. Ik heb met mijn vader dit hotel geboekt omdat het er goed uit leek te zien, dat klopte ook. Het was netjes en het was (meestal) fijn dat het midden in het centrum lag. Je had 's nachts wel last van lawaai buiten. Verder was het een prima hotel.

Pieni hotelli ja pienet, mutta asialliset huoneet. Mukava iso sänky; suurkaupungin syke kuuluu huoneeseen, mutta toisaalta kaikki on käden ulottuvilla - Punaisten lyhtyjen alue kulman takana samoin kaupat ja ravintolat sekä keskeinen Dam-aukio. Super enkelt hotel - der ligger lige midt i det hele:-) Et skridt udenfor døren om man er midt i Amsterdam.........kunne ikke være bedre. Perfekt til tøse eller drengetur.....forlænget weekend osv:-)

Cheguei no hotel as 23 horas e fui informado que só tinha um quarto no outro prédio que ficava ao lado. Inicialmente não via problema, porém no hotel inteiro não há elevador e precisei levar a mala sozinho por uma escada apertada para dois andares acima. O quarto tinha cheiro de cigarro apesar de ser para não fumante, estava com uma aparencia de sujo […] e mal conservado. A mini varanda estava alagada e com pontas de cigarro e muita suja. A pia do banheiro fica dentro do local de tomar banho que é bem apertado. A porta do banheiro está com uma rachadura enorme como se tivesse ocorrido uma luta no quarto. Reparei nas fotos que estão no site e reconheci o quarto, porém fizeram uma melhorar muito grande na aparencia geral do hotel, não confie nas fotos. Resumindo, o hotel é bem pequeno e apertado e não é tudo isso que parece. Apesar de tudo, fui bem atendido. Devamı

Très bonne situation, tout peut se faire à pieds sans difficulté. Très facile d'accès par rapport à la gare. Nous avons été très bien accueillies et conseillées. Notre chambre était très agréable, les lits très confortable. Au inveau du bruit, nous n'avions pas de problème car nous donnions sur une petite ruelle et pas sur la rue principale très animée. La […] seule difficulté de l'établissement est son absence d'ascenseur et les marches très raides des escaliers mais rien de terrifiant! Nous avons été déçue des petits-déjeuners "hollandais". Ils sont servis en chambre (car il n'y a pas de salle) et nos 2 petits-déjeuners tenaient ensemble sur un plateau : 1 boisson chaude d'une machine automtique, 1 jus de fruit en brique, 1 petit pain (avec confiture et beurre) et l'élèment hollandais : 2 tranches d'Edam sous vide. Very good quality and price ratio! The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is excellent!! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who's looking for a cheap and convenient way to stay over night in Amsterdam!

Muy céntrico, pequeño pero acogedor. La habitación era grande con 4 camas. Tiene baño dentro de ella y TV. Poco ruido eXterior. La limpieza de la habitación fue lo peor, porque estaba sucia.

Although the staff was nice and helpful, I would not recommend this hotel. it's very close to the Dam, true, but in a very busy street. We arrived and there was no washing soap in both our 2 rooms, not a small soap/shampoo bottle either. Had to remind the staff. For the price, I think they could afford to put those items in every room. My room was on […] 3d floor, close to some air-conditioning machine or another machine and I had to sleep with earplugs. Super godt sted, midt i byen - hvor det sker. Hotellet i sig selv er en sted man sover.. også oplever man byen. Mange, rigtig mange trapper - men yderst venlig service og kun glade ansatte!

Til tross for rene senger var ikke dette noen hyggelig opplevelse. Vi bodde i en tilleggsgård, og her var det ikke rene gardiner, og ikke varmt vann i dusjen! Til tross for ikke-røyk var det eim av luftfrisker da vi kom på rommet og askebeger utplassert. Da vi gjorde oppmerksom på varmtvann ble vi avfeid med at "da var vel vannet brukt opp" fra resepsjonisten. […] Anbefales ikke. Devamı

Varmt och kvavt på rummet, gick ej att öppna fönstret fanns enbart en fläkt som lät som tusan. Otrevlig personal i receptionen, dessutom fanns det ingen hiss så jag fick släpa upp väskorna två våningar. Ganska äckligt hotell generellt sätt, inget jag rekommenderar...
