Hotel Ariele - Floransa

The hotel, a former Swiss Consulate in Florence about a century old, was a delightful 'find'. High ceilings, great neighborhood and affordable in a high-priced city. Our room was spacious and comfortable...although the bathroom can only be described as barely adequate (about the size of a broom closet!). The breakfast room was sunny and offered much […] more than a minimal continental breakfast. We found 2 excellent restaurants in the neighborhood for dinner. Also, The Arno River is just a block from the hotel and makes a good, interesting stroll to the historic sites (including the Uffici, Ponte Vecchio, etc.) Just one complaint: don't pay attention to the claim to be just a 5-minute walk from the train station, especially if you have any baggage at all. We enjoyed the quiet and safe neighborhood with a couple of 4 star hotels in the neighborhood, but there was only one restaurant and an coffee bar nearby. Contrary to hotel's description. It took me 1/2 hour to walk from hotel to San Loranzo Cathedral and market. Maybe that's not far for some but my knee was not behaving well. The first disappointment of my stay came at check-in. I was informed that as of July 1, 2011, there is a new tourism tax and an additional 3 Euros per person per night would be added to my bill. The room I stayed in had a high ceiling and I laid in bed afraid to go to sleep because I was staring up at 10 mosquitos. This is after I had already killed […] 3 mosquitos in the bathroom and 2 in the bedroom. Clearly, prior guests had gone through this exercise as well, since there were dead mosquitos stuck to the wall as high as one could reach. Downstairs by the dining room was no better. I had to leave my room in order to access the wifi and was met by even more mosquitos there, as the door to the courtyard was left open due to the heat. I asked one of the staff to make a reservation on my behalf at a restaurant for lunch the following day. When I returned that night, someone else was at the front desk and I inquired about the time of my reservation. This person was unaware of any lunch reservation and told me incorrectly that the person I spoke to would not be working the next day so I was out of luck. I came down for breakfast the next morning and found that the same man was working again and he kindly informed me that he had made the reservation as I had asked. I will say that I was pleased with the breakfast. Orange juice, variety of coffees, croissants, pound cake, bread, sliced meat and cheese, cereal and yogurt. Quiet location. A bit away from the town center, but a bus line is near. Seems like a good neighborhood. Walking distance to Train station. No breakfast. Internet available free

This hotel was average. The location was excellent, close to the Santa Maria Novella station ( 5min walk). Breakfast was very basic. The hotel itself doesn't look like a hotel. Rather, it looks like a government building with bad lighting. Staff were nice but kept their distance. The guy who worked the night shift spoke English very well. This very poorly located hotel - far from the train station and the main city/sights of Florence - had arrogrant, condescending staff. We paid for a 3 star but the room was smelly and more importantly the staff refused to put on the air conditioning b**llsh**ting instead that no hotels had air the last week of May - this patent lie was denied by every […] one of the other 10 ten hotels I asked after in Florence (most didn't understand why I was asking - "of course!" they had their air conditioning working). Loved this hotel, and was happy to have found it amid a morass of online searches. The staff were very gracious and professional, the room was very clean, and the area was top-notch right on the Arno River. Hotel Ariele was also the first Consulate/Embassy in Florence--once a Swiss Consulate/Embassy. Still centered next to the current consulates today. […] Nice breakfast in the garden. I could not ask anything more for a place to stay in Florence. Near public tranportation, good quality eating places. Price is the best part of the deal. Neighborhood is very clean and safe. Hotel personal are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to all my friends.

We were on a 3 weeks visit to Northern Italy... traveling via trains. All our hotels booked were within walking distances from the train stations....though this one is a bit far, but turn out to be in a good neighbourhood and very near the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino plus the US Embassy, right along the Arno River. Hotel is housed in an ex-Swiss Consulate […] and we were assigned Room 36, located on the 2nd Mezzanine (Piano Secondo Ammezzato). Hotel offers free internet and very hot water for the only bathtub we encountered on the trip! One male attendant ran the breakfast room with great efficiency. Devamı

The hotel is in a great location. We stayed the last weekend and had a great experience. This time around it was not as great. We were put in room 72. Great place for say a couple looking to be away from others but horrible for a 71 year old woman. After getting off the elevator on the second floor you had to climb up 4 levels of stairs to get to this […] room. It is located above the elevator so you hear it everytime it moves. Bottom line... This was a great room. Close to many things. We enjoyed our stay.

The room was spacious, but the staff member was rude when we checked in and hardly said two words. The breakfast was a nice free addition though.

Very plesant stay, nice old hotel, very quiet

This hotel is located 0.5 miles away from the train station, which is totally walkable to even with luggage. It's not far from the sights, if you just take Via Magenta south towards the river, and east to the main town center. There is a grocery just a couple of blocks away, as well as some restaurants. When we stayed it was way above seasonally warm, […] in the 90's during the days. The hotel staff told guests that they did not turn the air on until June, which lead for two very uncomfortable nights (lack) of sleep, but then after 2 days they must have changed their minds and gave us the control for the air. The coffee machine in the lobby is great, not so much the free coffee with the free breakfast. The beds in the basic rooms were horribly uncomfortable, but for the price and location, I would probably stay here again. Devamı

El hotel se encuentra frente al teatro municipal, lo que torna el lugar seguro hasta altas horas de la noche, lo que es importante considerar en Florencia. Es un Palacio reciclado con excelente decoración aunque no repite en las habitaciones ese detalle. Ett ganska litet hotell c:a 15-20 minuters promenad från Vecchiobron. Ett 50-tal meter från floden Arno i lugna kvarter. Hemtrevlig inredning. Den enda besvikelsen var kaffet till frukosten. Det var tryck-på-knappen-kaffe och långt ifrån den goda espresson/capucchinon man förväntar sig i Italien.

hotellet er en gammel ejendom, nedslidt men pittoresk, der er en hyggelig have, minus er badeværelset, som er meget lille, men der er hvad der skal være, og masser af varmt vand

Es un hotel con cierto encanto, situado en un palacete a unos 15 o 20 minutos a pie del Duomo. La zona es tranquilísima, residencial, y además el hotel tiene un jardincillo muy agradable dónde se puede desayunar o salir a fumar, así que no hay ruidos. Las instalaciones no son nuevas, más bien lo contrario, pero mantenidas adecuadamente, así que no hay […] sensación de abandono. La limpieza óptima. Not so much positive points about this hotel to mention, maybe just the good size of its room and free internet connection. Instead so much negative points, such as a tiny bathroom, with a high edge bathtub that you will need help to get into or out of it. The staff were not friendly, the breakfast was not good, it was just something to eat to survive. […] Our room was not so isolated, everyone who was passing from in front of it, we were hearing. Generally I would consider this hotel as 1 star hotel or maybe a hostel. 3star is so much for this hotel. Devamı

Uma construção antiga mas bem preservada, com uma equipe pequena mas eficiente. Informações adequadas, proximidade do centro de Florença e dos principais pontos obrigatórios de visita. Virkelig hyggeligt hotel meget tæt på floden og på Firenze centrum. Ok morgenmadsbuffet og hjælpsom reception. Godt kvarter Parkering på nærliggende plads: Pas på snydere - brug parkometer !!!

Jeg vil tro, at Ariele (bedømt på prisen) er et af de bedst beliggende hoteller i Firenze. Hotellets standard og øvrige faciliteter er relativt gode. Morgenmaden er varieret, og personalet flink. Hvis dit behov blot er et sted at overnatte incl. morgenmad, (evt. i haven) bliver du behageligt overrasket. Alternativet til prisen er en god campingplads. Har […] du behov for facilliteter i international klasse, så gang prisen med 5 og find noget andet. Vi vil klart anbefale dette hotel, prisen in mente. Devamı

Ich fahre seit über 20 Jahren nach Florenz und ins Hotel Ariele. Das reicht doch !? Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist in Ordnung und die Lage sowieso: direkt am Opernhaus und nicht weit zu Fuß ins Oltrarno und zur Innenstadt.

Helt ok hotell. Gammal byggnad som ger känsla åt vistelsen. Promenadavstånd till centrum. Negativt är moskitos på rummet. Hotelpersonalen gör sitt jobb, men itnte mer och frukosten är bedrövlig.

højt til loftet, og følelse af historie, men ikke gennemført, fint til prisen

Hôtel très agréable, bien situé dans un quartier calme mais près du centre ville. Bon accueil .... à bientôt notre 'ème séjour dans ce lieu.

Calme et agréable, chambre spacieuse mais salle de bain étriqué.
