Don't expect much from your room, think more outdated motel or B&B (adding a plasma tv doesnt make up for the rest of the room) but the staff was amazingly helpful and polite and made the stay worthwhile.

Rooms or Suite were very grand, and location to Duomo short walking distance & many restaurants nearby. Staff and breakfast staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is safe and secure, the neighborhood in the very late evening did not feel as safe... perhaps due to poor lighting in the streets and less busy area the location of the hotel, and […] narrow streets. We stayed in a superior room which came with a balcony. room was really spacious, beds comfortable and good bathrooms. Only 10 mins from the town centre and 5 mins from the Accademia. Only slight disappointment was the breakfast selection but didnt detract from overall quality of stay

Spacious room with great view. Only had a handheld shower over tub. Bathroom needed updating.

Basically, the hotel was decent and conveniently located, although not on a busy crowded street. The lobby area was lovely and our room on the 2nd floor was basic and spacious. Lighting is dim but I found that to be the case in several hotels. The unfortunate issue was the odor coming from the bathroom. It was so unpleasant we dreaded using the room. […] Reception desk said it was from the street; not true, the street outside the hotel was fine. Orto de Medici was a terrific find: great location within walking distance of all Florence sites and excellent nearby restaurants. The staff provided good advice on where to go and eats. One caution: the night clerk recommended L'Academia for dinner our second night. The waiter told us that service was not included & we needed to leave a tip. With tip, […] the dinner cost twice what we had spent the night before at da Mimmo (across from the hotel). This hotel is just 10 minutes from the Duomo and heart of Florence. We upgarded to a room with a view of the rooftops and balcony, and it was money well spent. Breakfast was good, staff amazingly helpful. Can recommend 'Accademia' a local restaurnat- excellent value and wonderful Italian food. We're intending to go again.

This hotel was very impressive! Room was decorated very modernly and very clean. Soft bed, nice garden, good breakfast that came with the reservation. We'll come back. Very close to city center.

Very nice accommodations, large room for 4 (queen and 2 twins) and super location - close to all things you'll want to do in Florence. Only downside is the hot water was tepid and shower is European tub-sit-down-take-a-shower (no curtain) shower. Loved the place just the same.

This is a wonderful, personable hotel in an ideal location. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The hotel is lovely and very Florentine and the location could not be better. Fantastic hotel - close to every "must see" in Florence...great and helpful staff...includes breakfast....hotel has historic significance. Would stay there again!

I really enjoyed my time at Orto de Medici in Florence. It looks like it was designed by architects working with artists. The room was stylish and very comfortable. The location is convenient to the train station, the downtown sites and L'Academia. Will come back again, and would recommend it anytime.

Awesome!! I cannot praise this Hotel enough, my daughter and I absolutely loved it, great location, great accommadations, clean, family atomosphere. I would go back again and again!!!The Staff is the BEST!!!

It didn't cost the earth and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I would recommend the Orto De Medici to my friends. Our 'classic' room (and I was under no illusions that 'classic' usually means "we haven't got round to decorating it yet") wasn't too bad. It was very basic with 'classic' furniture and the odd cracked tile in the bathroom, but […] overall was very clean... and the garden was on full view from the window. Speaking as a fan of a hearty English breakfast, the continental breakfast was actually pretty good. In fairness, what makes it for me is that the service staff at breakfast made you feel welcome and comfortable and were happy to help with usage of coffee machines and the like. The hotel is located in a backstreet opposite what looks like the back of a police station. First impression was 'watch your handbag love,' but I found Florence in general to be a non-threatening place with a large police presence. The hotel is well maintained in general so when you walk into the reception area, you feel reassured. It's a 10 minute walk to/from the station which has great links with Pisa airport, and only a 10 minute walk to the cathedral and into the city centre. Oh and the bed was possibly the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in! I rarely leave feedback unless I feel very strongly about an experience. We enjoyed our stay at the Orto De Medici, feeling welcome from the outset. All I would say is that if you're expecting 5 stars for the price of 3 stars, you'll be dissappointed. Very friendly and helpful front staff. Less than a five minute walk to the center. Our room with a balcony was nice though I think slightly overrated by other reviews. Room and bathroom were clean. A great place to stay, centrally located and in walking distance of all the must-see sights. People at the front desk were very accommodating. They helped with dinner suggestions and what sights to see. They also stored several pieces of luggage for us while we traveled to other parts of Italy. Our room at the end of the hall was very comfortable […] and overlooked the courtyard. It was also next to the breakfast room so we awoke to the smell of coffee and Christmas music playing softly in the background. It has a very homey and comforting touch. The bathroom was a bit small but the towels in the bathroom were soft, plush and plentiful. Plenty of closet and storage space in the room. We enjoyed our stay at Orto De Medici Hotel! Devamı

This is the best hotel in florence that I've stayed. The hotel exterior seems like a ordinary residence in Florence, but once I got inside the room, I couldn't imagine from its appearance as cleanness large room with a big bathtub. Various breakfast at charming dinning room, or terrace in summer. It has a beautiful living room. Easy to access for any […] major attractions on foot. Less than 1 mun. to restaurants, cafes, and supermarket. All hotel staff are very warm and friendly. A staff let me use microwave in their kitchen. Be careful when you take a taxi, there's 3 kinds of hotels named "Medici" in Florence. I'm sure to come back Olto De Medici next Florence! Devamı

Best stay ever. Friendly and helpfull staff. English speaking. Very close to Museums as described in the web. Rooms cosy. Thanks goes also to the housekeeping staff who cleaned the rooms.

Very clean, almost like a museum on the inside. Be realistic about expectations of ALL European hotels. Buildings in Europe are much older by five or six centuries than buildings in the US. So rooms will be smaller. That being said, in addition to being clean and comfortable, the Internet access was very good.

The Orto de Medici Hotel was the perfect place for our 2 day stay in Florence. It is excellently located, we could walk everywhere and there are several great little bars and restaurants close by. The staff is very friendly and the service was excellent. After we had checked out and were about to leave, the desk clerk gave us an envelope which contained […] a ring our daughter had inadvertently left in her room and housekeeping had found as they were cleaning!!! First time to Florence for my wife and I and we picked this hotel after much research. Turn out they were just outstanding. The hotel was very modern and clean. The rooms were typical of what you would expect (nice, clean and safe but not fancy). They had a very beautiful outdoor area in the back with trees and grass, but the staff was the best part. We […] asked and were given some incredible recommendation for local restaurants, tours of Tuscany and several nice leather shops. The spoke great English and breakfast was nice…if not light by U.S. Standards. The down sides were: 1. Parking is VERY expensive and limited so don’t drive. 2. We were told they were located several blocks from the city center but took only turned out to be less than a 10 minute walk. 3. If you want to sleep late ASK FOR A ROOM AWAY FROM THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. People were out and about by 7am and could be heard from our open 3rd floor window. I read that in other reviews and simply forgot so no fault of the hotel. One side note, we also spent time in Venice. Florence clearly had much better and cheaper shopping, food and hotels….not to mention better service from the locals. We paid a little extra for a deluxe room and it was absolutely worth every penny. The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The front desk staff was friendly and recommended some great restaurants. The location was great, we walked everywhere. We'll stay here again without a doubt.

Nice hotel and very safe but looks rough around the hotel at night. I would recommend staying hear but you will walk a lot to the sites. Excellent breakfast!

My friends and I were visiting Florence for one of our birthdays and had a great time while staying at the Orto de Medici. The room was clean and the staff was nice and helpful. They even left us a bottle of champagne in our room upon check-in with a personal note welcoming us to the hotel and wishing my friend a happy birthday. The room was adequate. I left my wedding ring in the room, and no effort was made to find it for me. That was disappointing.

We stayed at the Orto de Medici during part of our 17-day trip to Italy, and absolutely loved this hotel! The location is a quite neighborhood, away from the crowded touristy areas of Florence, but very easy to all of the major sites on foot. Some of the rooms at the hotel are recently remodeled, and even though our room had not been remodeled yet, […] it was still very clean, comfortable and HUGE by European standards. Overall, the hotel facilities were charming. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful and included an abundance of cereal, pastries, meats, yogurt, fruit, spreads and beverages. The hotel also has computers with internet access in the lobby for guests to use. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who visits Florence! Devamı

Rooms are not as pictured. Service terrible. Rude, non-responsive. Overpriced for surrounding area hotels. I will never return. I am around the block at another hotel for 1/3 the price in a friendly, customer service oriented hotel.

WE have visited Florence 4 times and each time have stayed at Orto De Medici.....one of our favorite hotels in Italy. They were so gracious .....had a bottle of champagne waiting for us since it was our 40th Anniversary and our 4th visit to the hotel. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. The have the loveliest breakfast room and patio. […] Why it is a three star hotel I am not sure. It gets rave reviews from both of us. Clean, charming and in a great location. We recommend it highly. Our stay was a pleasant one, despite our Classic room having poor decor, a lack of natural light and an ancient TV. Thankfully, it was quiet and the aircon worked well. The rest of the hotel was salubrious with the dining room and terrace more than making up for it. There is plenty of choice within a continental style breakfast too. The location is […] also ideal for visiting the main attractions. There is a huge difference in the quality of the rooms. If you're fussy about what it looks like, don't pick the cheapest. Devamı

The Orto de Medici hotel is in a nice location within walking distance to the major sites of Florence. It is set on a quieter street, and the Deluxe Garden View rooms are very nice and spacious with beautiful marble bathrooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fine.

The Orto De Medici Hotel is close to the train station and the pedestrian area in Florence. Although the room very very large, the bathroom was small and somewhat rundown. The breakfast area was nice and the food was typical of all the hotels where we stayed in Italy...sliced meat, cheese, melba toast, jam, croissants, cereal, yogurt and some fresh […] fruit. There are two big computers in the lobby which came in handy. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay at this hotel yet the 3 euros a day per guest on top of the room rate does add up. Devamı

Good for the price slightly far from the heart of Florence.

I stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. The hotel is well located in a quiet street 5 minutes walk from the Duomo. In fact the whole of the tourist area is within walking distance. The lobby and communal areas are very nice although I didn't really use them. There is free Internet in the lobby. My room was at the back so no noise but it was a quiet street […] so I doubt there was much at the front either. The room was okay sized, a bit tired and old fashioned but spotless and did the job. Tiny TV but I wasn't in Florence to watch TV! Bed and pillows were very firm which I like but others may not. The staff were charming and helpful. I'm afraid I didn't make it down for breakfast so can't comment on that! Overall I would recommend it as a good value hotel because it is clean, quiet and in a very good location. Devamı

I definitely recommend this hotel. The front-desk staff were friendly and helpful, and all spoke English for those times my limited Italian failed me. The breakfast service and variety were top-notch. The room and bathroom were larger than is typical in Europe, and the free wifi was a great bonus. Some might wish to be closer to the historical center, […] but the Duomo and Uffizi are within walking distance. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet at night. This is a three star hotel that is really four star! What a find!

A wonderful location on the fringe of the tourist area were many locals are present. While it is a short distance from most of the major sights it is very close to the Academia. Would highly recommend it.

It must be noted this hotel has 2 kinds of rooms: renovated, which are more expensive and non-renovated, which are cheaper. I did not know this at the time of the booking, so opted for the less expensive room, not knowing about the difference. As I was staying for 5 nights, I might have splurged and taken a renovated room, as it looked quite nice and […] modern on the pictures in the hotel lobby. As far as the non-renovated room, it was adequate, but certainly not luxurious. The armoir was made of old, musty wood, and I just did not feel like putting my clothes in it. The TV was the old-fashioned small-screen variety. The bathroom at least had modern fixtures, but there was almost no place to put one’s toiletries. The wifi was out one morning, but back on in the evening. But as it’s free, one cannot really complain too much. The front desk staff were accommodating when approached, but seemed a bit blasé and uninterested otherwise. The breakfast is only until 9:30 am, so not ideal if you want to sleep late. Also, there is not much variety. All in all, I would say if you get a great rate, go for it; if not, keep looking. Devamı

We stayed in Orto de Medici Hotel for four nights in one of their delux garden view rooms. The room was spacious and felt luxurious and so was the reception area. The garden has a very peaceful feel. The staff were very helpful in providing advice on things to see, as well as providing a plug adaptor. Beauty is a key word, absolutely lovely. Staff were a bit impersonal and unhelpful unfortunately. Wi-fi does not work and and no help is offered, just annoyed replies that it should work are repeated at you. No such thing as an ironing board in this place of beauty.

We absolutely loved Orto De Medici Hotel. It was a short five minute walk from some of the major sites which allowed us to escape all the crowds but still have quick access to all the must see attractions. When we arrived they had a few upgrades available for a small fee so someone showed us to each of the rooms to allow us to make an informed decision. […] They have both very modern rooms and your more traditional rooms with Italian style decor. We went for the Italian style room and it had a gorgeous balcony with a beautiful view. We were extremely surprised by the beds. The bed felt just like a temprpedic although upon checking it was not. That didn't matter though it was very comfortable. The breakfast was fairly standard and they did have some outside seating. The main issues we had were: 1) There was only one elevator so it was very slow at times 2) They ask you to leave the key with them when you go out (which isn't uncommon) but then one time when came back we had to wait over 10 minutes for a receptionist so we could get up to our room. Other than that we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone going to Florence. Devamı
