Artefes Hotel - İstanbul

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in April 2012 and we found all the staff incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel location is perfect for walking out to see all the major sightseeing attractions like the Blue Mosque and Aye Sophia, even the Grand Bazaar is easy walking distance. We upgraded our room to the suite on the 4th floor […] with a wonderful view from the room balcony overlooking the Sea of Marmara. All in all a fabulous 3 night stay. pleasant stay in Artefes Hotel. friendly staff, comfort room and very good breakfast with nice sea view! But just a bit hard to get to the hotel when we off the tram station

My wife and twin 8 yr old boys stayed for 4 days at Artefes. The most amazing part of the stay was the morning breakfast in the restaurant on the top floor, with a view overlooking the whole city and sea of Marmara. It really got the day started just right. We weren't in the hotel most of the day but we would sometimes come back to the restaurant and […] terrace for a quick evening tea and recharge. The night view of the beautifully lit Blue Mosque was also amazing. The staff - from the front desk through to the restaurant and the cleaning staff, all were equally kind and good at what they were doing. The rooms were very clean. We even had an incident where one of the other guests, mistakenly took our suitcase from the reception. The hotel manager was spectacular in his effort to correct the situation. All in all Istanbul is a great city and Artefes is a great place to enjoy this city from. It strikes a perfect balance between affordability, location, comfort and service. Devamı

While the people were extremely helpful and friendly, the hotel could do with a little renovation. I know as Americans we like everything King size, but the TV and the wastebasket were built for midgets. The breakfast was awesome.

Great staff that's willing to help you with everything... Hotel is located within blocks of the Blue Mosque and very convenient to many of the shops, turkish baths, etc. Great Breakfast too with stunning views of the Black Sea

We stayed twice in the hotel. From 11/10 to 11/16 and from 11/20 to 11/25. We returned to Artefes Hotel because of its friendly management team led by Murad. The hotel is very nice and clean, The room was decent size and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. English is spoken by everyone. The hotel is just down the hill from the Blue Mosque (1/4 mile) and the Hippodrome. It is convenient to the tram as well (1/2 mile). The surrounding neighborhood is quaint and fairly quiet. Great little hotel with exceptional staff in prime location for tourism

We were very satisfied with our stay at Artefes. The staff were very helpful, arranged restaurants and taxis, and generally pointed us in the right directions for stuff. The breakfast (included in our rate) was simple and excellent and the view from the rooftop breakfast tables over the sparkling sea in the morning was very refreshing. Good restaurants […] were nearby. Location was great for walking to most of the old-city attractions. Room amenities basic but certainly sufficient. Make no mistake, this is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small, basic and the 'free' wifi has a very poor signal in most rooms. The rooms are also subject to a considerable amount of noise pollution outside given that there is a childrens playground next door. The buffet breakfast is also of questionable quality, although this is largely […] offset by the amazing roof top terrace where food is served. Ok negatives over. What you see is what you get. The price is fantastic value, and why come to Istanbul to spend all your time in the Hotel?! The location is fantastic (walking distance to Blue Mosque, Topaki Palace and more). Location is very convenient, courtious and friendly staff, room condition, cleanliness and breakfast is above average for a boutique hotel. Will stay there again.

Artefes is a great hotel, nestled in Sultanahmet - the people there couldn't be nice, the rooftop terrace is gorgeous, and everything about it was lovely. I will recommend it to everyone I know.

We had a great experience at Hotel Artefes. It is close to everything in the Sultanahmet area. The staff were pleasant, hard working, and spoke English well. Rooms were clean, beds were a little on the hard side but fine. Good wifi. The greatest treasure was the roof top terrace with the stunning view of Istanbul and the Marmet Sea. A great place with a terrific staff close to all the main sights. Good recommendations for tours and restaurants. Great little Turkish style bath/spa in the basement. I can´t wait to go back !

The hotel staff were all so nice and helpful. They had information for cheap tours and were very friendly and talkative, which was really welcoming and fun. The breakfast every morning was amazing! Also, being able to sit up on the roof patio and eat breakfast was a great start to each day. The location was perfect walking distance to all the old town […] tourist locations. It was really safe and the cafe across the street looked odd but the food was super. Overal Artefes Hotel really made our stay in Istanbul!!! Thank you!! Devamı

It is a very nice little hotel within minute's walk of Blue Mosque, Hippodrome, Haghia Sophia and Top Kapi palace. The service was very courteous and helpful. The staff at the reception arranged all the tours, transportation and what was especially important, helped me book bus tickets for the rest of my trip (not a small feat in Turkey with myriad […] of bus companies and not so many English speakers). The breakfast was nice, but selection of food is limited and is always the same. The terrace at the top of the hotel is very nice and has unobstructed view of Marble sea. 4 star rating is a bit misleading. The rooms are really small and not very sound proof. Devamı

Excellent location! A neat and clean hotel. Heat was good. Hot water was there. Rooms are a bit small, but that is to be expected in this neighborhood: Sultan Ahmet. A hamam in the basement really amazed us. Excellent customer service. They went out of their way to help us. Nice breakfast spread. Lovely smell through the whole hotel at all times. lovely rooftop garden overlooking the water. Large buffet breakfast. Great accommodations. Nice amenities (hamman, steamroom, etc.) on site. And the friendliest and most-helpful staff. HIGHLY recommend the Artfes Hotel.

This charming boutique hotel is tucked away in a narrow cobbled street minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Because it is a historic building the rooms are on the small side but the hotel oozes character and has a fabulous view from the roof top. We stayed in January so it was too cold to sit or eat up there but on warmer evenings would […] be wonderful. The dining room where we ate a very adequate buffet style breakfast also has a great view of the busy waterways and the surrounding rooftops. Istanbul is a walkers city so Artefes is ideally placed. We explored the surrounding streets and found some wonderful restaurants way from the main tourist centre. The staff were very helpful, particularly the man on daytime desk duty who allowed us to use the hotel's office internet to verify some bank details. There is wi-fi but we had no laptop with us and the hotel doesn't have guest internet. We stayed 4 nights and would definitely return to this hotel in the future. We loved it. Devamı

Artefes is close to Sultanahmet metro station, about 7-8 min walk. The hotel is located at a back street, at first glance a bit dodgy, but we didn't run into any problems. Great location to see the main sights, less than 5 min walk to the Blue Mosque. Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace, Grand Bazaar, all a stone's throw away. Service at the hotel was mixed, […] we mainly dealt with a very well-spoken and helpful man, but during those times he wasn't there, other staff weren't so friendly. We initially stayed at Artefes for 2 nights, flew to Kayseri then on the way back stayed another night. Our first room was awful, there were patches on the wall where paint was peeling/bubbling. When my husband lifted the toilet seat, he found stains on the bowl, obviously the cleaners hadn't bothered lifting the seat to clean the bowl. Right outside our window was a playground so when there were children playing outside, it was noisy. The walls are very thin, floorboards squeaky. The second room we got was a big improvement, the room was in a better presentable state, but the sink in the bathroom was a bit grotty. Breakfast was nice enough, good variety and great view of the sea and the Blue Mosque. Checkout at 12pm is very handy. For the price we paid and the location, this hotel is good value and despite all of the negatives, I would stay again. Devamı

As traveler´s reviews over Internet, the hotel is well placed in Sultanahmet and the staff excels on good attention to customers. One advantage (a criteria for picking that hotel option) was free internet access. However, after the first day, the signal went out on my room and despite repeated reports, the problem was not attended. Signal was available […] in the lobby, but this could definitely be better. The hotel was well situated close to most major sights. We had however requested a pick up from the airport which did not arrive. On arrival at the hotel when we asked about the shuttle service and said it had been arranged by e-mail as requested 48 hours prior to arrival the excuse given was that the manager was not in and no one else checked e-mails!!. […] The rooms were very small but clean, the breakfast was varied. This is a charming little hotel. The rooms are modest with some very nice perks like slippers and dental kits. For shower lovers - the water pressure is amazing! Breakfast is excellent and the view of the sea is exceptional. The front-desk arranged very economical airport transport which greatly simplified a short stay in Istanbul. And, once you figure […] out the twists and turns in the neighboring streets you realize this is an exceptional location from which to explore Sultanahmet. Highly Recommended! Devamı

Very close to must see sights.

I loved the hotel location and the staff was fantastic and very helpful. My only problem was the cleanliness of the room - the sheets weren't changed every day and we had ants in our room. However, the staff promptly moved us to a different room when we pointed put the ants problem. Even though the gym and sauna/spa were not ready yet & still under construction, we were VERY happy with the hotel. The people were very friendly & helpful-they made it easy for us to enjoy ourselves & helped us feel at home. The food & view were very beautiful as well. All in all, we had a great stay!! The star rating system seems to be very liberal. This was equivalent to a Super 8 or Motel 6 in the States but classifed as a 4 star hotel. I stayed here 2 nights...once on my way to Africa and once on the way back. The first night I was put on the main floor which was noisy and when I was asked to change rooms because of it, my request was not granted. […] On top of that my tv didnt work and the AC pumped very little if any cold air into my room. On the return, my room was in a better location but the bed was a twin and I was alone...a doble would have been nice. considering what other hotels in the are are charging...pricewise it is competitive but still lacking in value for the money. great value- awesome roof top restaurant with commanding views over Sea of Mamara. Only downside is wireless did not work.

Staff very helpful and kind. Breakfast was great, rooms in good shape but bathroom could do with a bit of cleaning. The views on terrace were stunning and hotel is just a stones throw from all the attractions. Will highly recommend and definatley stay there again. Great value for money

The staff are amazingly helpful and the view from the terrace lovely. Location perfect for all sites. Only complaint is the ability to hear in next rooms and the creaky floors.

The staff was really nice.The rooms were small but very clean.The only problem was that they didnt have internet in the room.I had to go downstairs in order to have access to the internet.Overall the service was great.

Nossa acolhida foi calorosa: o pessoal da recepção se esforçou (inclusive em oferecer passeios caros). O hotel é bem antigo. Embora o colchão fosse realmente sofrível, as roupas de cama foram trocadas todos os dias. Triste foi “conviver” com um velho tapete que merecia ser defenestrado (ele implorava uma máquina de lavar), agora percebo que isso foi […] mais um dos desafios peculiares dessa viagem. O ralo do box entupiu 2 vezes em uma semana (verdade seja dita: era só reclamar e alguém desentupia). O café da manhã é simplesmente frugal, nada além disso. Pontos positivos: a gratificante vista do Mar de Marmara do salão de café e o atendimento da -- aparentemente -- única copeira responsável (realmente solícita, sempre fazia questão de sorrir e cumprimentar em turco, após saber que queríamos aprender algumas palavras do seu idioma). Outro ponto positivo é que a máquina de café, capuccino e chocolate quente ficou disponível 24h/dia no mesmo local do café da manhã e ninguém nos censurou por acioná-la à noite, para tomar um chocolate quente antes de dormir. Quanto à localização do hotel, é excelente para um primeira viagem a Istambul, aquele bairro (Sultanahmet) concentra pontos históricos e turísticos importantes, além de permitir acesso a transporte coletivo público de qualidade (os "tram" = bondes elétricos). Mas atenção: nos bairros vizinhos os preços em geral caem significativamente. Hoje, pesquisaria outras opções de hotel (mais novos). Devamı

첫날은 영어도 안통하는데 안내데스크에 계신 분께서 인내를 가지고 끝까지 친절하게 대해주셨어요. 위치도 너무 좋고, 시설도 매우 깨끗해요 가격도 저렴하고요. 특히 이스탄불에서 인 아웃 했는데, 아웃할때 같은 호텔 갔더니 가격은 낮춰주고 방은 무지 업그레이드 해주셨어요 ㅋㅋ 이 호텔에 이런 방도 있나 싶을 정도였어요. 조식은 부페식인데 엄청 다양하고 맛있어요. 특히, 바다가 보이는 자리에서 먹으니 분위기도 너무 좋더라고요. 작은 호텔이지만 서비스도 좋고, 너무 너무 친절했던 호텔이에요.

지금까지 가본 호텔 중에서 최악의 호텔입니다. 예약을 더블침대 4개했는데 모두 2 싱글 4개 주더군요... 같이간 일행에게 얼마나 미안했던지...

Bra läge med promenadavstånd till flera av Istanbuls sevärdheter. Fantastisk utsikt från terassen. Bra Hamam på hotellet. Kan rekommenderas.

Bien que la reservation etait faite pour Artefes, en arrivant on m'a dit qu'il n'y avait plus de place et on m'a propose une chambre dans l'hotel a cote le Sultan's palace. Chambre tres belle, tres propre et confortable et personnel de l'hotel tres accueillant. Hotel extremement bien place pour une visite d'Istanbul. A éviter. On court le risque de se voir refuser l'accès du fait du retard. Le shuttle a des difficultés de se frayer un chemin dans la vielle ville à la recherche des autres passagers.

Mycket trevlig terrass och hjälpsam personal. Godkänd frukost. Lite mer städning i rummets vrår kunde önskas. Centralt men ca 5 minuters promenad till närmsta område med lite trevligare restauranger.
