Macdonald Gisborough Hall - Guisborough

Beautiful location, wonderful breakfast and a marvellous 19th - 20th century settings. However, hotel should done a little more work on rooms, no duvet only blankets and not plenty of towels either.

Could do with some more heating in the concervatory and wedding room as I was cold all day and night in those two rooms but elsewhere was fine.

A very traditional hotel. staff very helpful. Food very good. Bed very comfortable. Decoration would benefit from some updating yet maintain its character. It was very quiet. Lounge areas a little chilly. Shower excellent. Corridors were confusing...needed clearer signage. Disappointed there were no leisure facilities in such a large hotel.

Very comfortable and spacious room - it was a standard room with superb bathroom facilities. We were in the newer wing which involved a considerable walk from the reception and dining areas but this did not really cause any problem to us. The easy chairs in the bedroom were looking worn and there was no wi-fi facility in the bedroom but these are our […] only negative comments on the room. Our stay was at a weekend and whilst we knew there was a wedding/party going on not far from our room, we heard nothing. We only ate our evening meals in the bar bistro but the food was good, freshly cooked and reasonably priced. Excellent breakfast. Devamı

After a long wait to check into the hotel, I decided to get an early night and went to bed around 22:00 only to be woken by dogs barking uncontrolably in the adjoining room. Aparantly this is allowed for travellers staying on the ground floor, this to me is not acceptable and should be pointed out at the point of reservation as I would insist on being […] placed at the otherside of the hotel and as far away as possible. As I suffer from an allergy to animals i was advised that the rooms would be deeply cleansed following a pet staying, which I find hard to believe as the standard of cleanliness although acceptable is not thorough. I stay at this hotel on a regular basis for one reason only, to get a good nights sleep and when this is ruined by animals it is time to possibly look at an alternative. Devamı

Good location for Redcar races. Excellent hotel, staff extremely helpful and attentive. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Highly recommended

Beautiful hotel and surrounding gardens. Quality of food excellent only let down by service of some staff who seemed rather inexperienced or untrained to work in a 4 star hotel.

Got there late, but checked in with no problem. I was in the new area of the building which when your directed by Reception, you must listen to then on how to find it. I spent 10 mins looking for the room. The room was quite and comfortable.

I had booked an executive room for the evening of a family member's wedding do. I think it must have put the bridal suite (in a neighbouring hotel) to shame. The room was so large you could have held a drinks reception in it and the views from the windows were spectacular. Very good service, excellent breakfast and bumped into a TV celeb on the way […] out. Only drawback is that the hotel is so popular I could only book the one night. Devamı

Our overall stay was fantastic. The room was lovely and very clean. The presentation of the function room for the wedding was second to none. The food excellent. This hotel was only let down by the extremely poor check in service. Nothing was ready at the reception desk, knowing that you have 50+ guests arriving at the same time, u would expect them […] to be ready! The bride was even held up in the que, in her wedding dress, for staff to re-enter all the guests details which they already had concidering that the rooms had already been paid for. The receptionist dealing with us, found it quite amusing, to herself, that we did not use credit cards so she couldn't take a swipe for her machine in case of room charges. We didn't find it funny, she also found it very amusing that my younger brother still had the same address as my parents, well he would, he is only young! Once you get past the poor service at the desk, the rest of the hotels service is exceptional it's just a shame that your first impression is at the desk. Devamı

What a wonderful hotel,pleasant staff,lovely surroundings,quiet location,superb lounge area with a relaxing atomosphere.Only draw back was the maze to get to our room from reception.Oh we had a great guest in the lounge a cat named "Skimbles".

We stayed for the weekend and had a fabulous time - particularly impressed with all members of staff who were friendly and helpful. Recommend the Spa which is small but the treatments were excellent and Melissa's efficiency and quiet friendliness particularly appreciated.

I was on business so mostly I require convienience of location. This hotel was a long way from my first visit but was well worth the extra drive. As you can see from the tick boxes everything else was excellent, I would have no problem staying at this hotel again and the free WIFI made it easy to keep up to date with emails.

A hotel with some character and a very unique setting. Staff pleasant and helpful and interested in their work. Business use traveller, good room facilities for working, BT Open zone "chargeable"!!!! a disappointment. Food very pleasant and efficiently served

I have to be honest and say i was a little disappointed. I have stayed in Macdonald hotels before and been impressed, so when it came to booking a weekend trip away for my partners birthday (who i have a 4 month old son with), this seemed like a safe option. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and offers the amenities you would expect and like but […] i do have to say i felt the organisation of the staff let it down somewhat. Firstly having booked the trip several weeks in advance, i was surprised to learn (via email on the day we checked in) that we no longer had the family room we booked. This had been given to someone else but we were offered another suitably sized room that was a significant walk and two lifts away from the reception and restaurants etc. Not the end of the world but certainly not ideal when with a small child. In addition, as we were tired after the long drive we decided to stay in and order room service for our evening meal. We were advised that we would have to wait 20-25 minutes. It wasn't until i called through after an hour and 15 mins that we were advised there was a delay but we would have our food in 15-20mins. So what was originally planned as a nice relaxing evening of dinner, soak in the bath and film ended up ruined as our food arrived too late. To be honest the remainder of our stay was pretty solid but there is nothing worse than getting off to a bad start, especially when you're trying so hard to create a special birthday treat. Devamı

There was only one flaw in this otherwise excellent hotel where staff are extremely well trained and efficient. My room had no air conditioning on a very hot night and the fan in the room was a poor substitute: the room was otherwise very good and had everything. Service is exceptional.
