The location is great. I had an interview a few blocks away and this was right across the street from Garrett's popcorn. However, the whole place was in the very midst of renovation; it was a mess. It was difficult to cross the lobby, it smelled like paint everywhere (except in our room, thank god), paint chipped off our door whenever we closed it, […] and the elevator door stopped midway while trying to open. The room itself was fairly clean, only the bathroom floor was not swept. Everything worked (tv, heat, hair dryer), but the shower head was terrible. The water fell straight down, rather than at an arc. I was almost up against the wall to shower. The room (double beds) was also extremely cramped, little space for one suitcase. You could hear out of every single wall, like sirens, dogs whining, other people talking. I felt like their was little privacy. In the end, the price was still very very much so a bargain. There were definitely things to put up with, but ultimately, we had a good trip. Devamı

This Red Roof was in an amazing location and the scenery was beautiful. The only problem i had is the fact they were rentevating the hotel while we where there! The drilling was extremely loud, and the heat in the rooms did not work! If those things were taken care of, it would compete with a 5 star hotel

Brandi at the front desk was wonderful and a lovely credit to the hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable and I was within a few minutes walk from my destination. However, do be aware that Red Roof is one of the few hotels in Chicago that allows dogs, and there was a dog show in two. The two rooms next to me had unsupervised dogs barking, whining, […] and scratching. However, the owners were called and all was quiet by 9:00 pm. Devamı

Very small rooms but clean. However rest of hotel was pretty disgusting. But it is an awesome location and pretty inexpensive rooms. I guess you get what you pay for.

Rude Staff, smelly hallways and creaky elevators not a pleasant stay at all!!

wonderfull brand...well maintained...comfy...super clean rooms...soft..soft..soft towels...xtra xtra clean coverings on bed...loads of tv channels...free local calls...the phone is turned on as soon as you're booked..everything works...iron and iron board in the room....close to public transportation.the red line...and also there's 7 eleven...and Jewels […] supermarket near by if you need to do shopping for food items...loads of places to dine out and night spots if you're into the night life......but most importantly....super price...you get 3X more than what you've invested in your stay...it's like staying in 5 star hotel for a fraction of the cost....will return when I'm in Chicago.. The place was permeated by a formaldehyde like smell. The lobby was poorly kept and not very clean. The room, however, was decent in size and cleanliness, located on the top floor. It was reasonably quiet. Anemic shower, though. This would be ok if you don't have to spend much time at the hotel Location is superb.

This is a great location. You are right downtown and close to everything! Great food, shopping and michigan ave. The hotel was ok...nothing fancy but worth the price. It was a standard room for a quick and easy trip.

I know the affordable rate should temper my review, but really? Toenail clippings in the carpeting? Front staff, great. Location, excellent. Cleanliness, gross.

Two stars? that's Generous. This RR is worn, tired and dirty. The night staff was great, day staff seemed to hate life -- his, mine and everyone around him. I understand -- if I had to work there each day....he might be suicidal. The hot water stopped at 9AM -- I mean stopped, not run out or cool off, I'm talking the recirc pump stopped; leaving a […] hotel FULL of people yelling -- I could hear the echoes down the hallway. [You can hear everything else, too. BTW] Tiny, dirty elevators and carpets that could never be restored by any amount of steam and shampoo -- and clearly that has not been attempted... the list goes on. If you stay, think of it as Urban Camping... that will lessen the sting of disappointment, some. A sense of humor is recommended, as well. Upside -- it's CHEAP and it has a FANTASTIC location. Spent 8 night there. A good value especially considering the location near North Michigan Avenue.

Ok if you are on a budget and staying for a night or two. If you are used to Holiday Inn or that type of a hotel, this is not the hotel for you. A/C was broken.

The hotel turned out to be exactly what i needed well located practical and not too expensive

This hotel is located just 1 block from Magnificent Mile. Location was great. Hotel is older, but well maintained, staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are extremely small, just enough room for a bed and a dresser, however, if you are just looking for a place to sleep, it is adequate.

This hotel was very close to where I was having a meeting. This hotel made it convient for me to conduct business. Thanks, Gary S.

i was in town for a historian convention, and wanted a hotel close to it that was cheaper. nice location, close to a dunkin donuts and 7-11. the rock and roll mc donald's is also just a few blocks away. though i had hoped the nearest train station would be closer, it was 5-6 blocks. elevator door opened and shut before i got in, so i took the stairs […] instead to my room. pros: 1. reasonable price at convenient downtown area 2. quiet and clean 3. free wifi cons: 1. Do NOT ask the hotel to arrange taxi for you, call it by yourself will save you time and money. 2. furnitures and facilities are old 3. wifi speed is slow

You cannot get a better location for the price in Chicago!!! The staff are friendly and helpful. Even the overnight parking is a good value (considering it is downtown Chicago). You are one block from Michigan Av!! That is the unbelievable part. I mean really where else can you stay this cheap so close to all of the action?? The hotel is a dump! The paint is peeling in the rooms, they only leave you with the roll of toilet paper that is on the roller, the tiles are cracked in the tub, the carpet is dirty, the beds suck, the elevators are dirty..... that said, you still can't get a better deal in Chicago!! I mean it's a Red Roof Inn, so unless they care about their image, they probably aren't going to sink any considerable cash into the property. Still, I keep repeating it is right in the middle of all of the shopping... like 4 blocks from Water Tower and another to the John Hancock building. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to take their family or have a great time in Chicago, without having to break the bank for hotel stay. If you consider that you are only sleeping in the room, and you aren't looking for any of the amenities that you might find in other hotels, then this is the place for you! I was there alone for 1 night and It was perfect for me. I would not recomend for more than 5-6 days. If you want to spend the weekend or go sightseeing for few days it worths. You can improve a little going to other hotels, but paying triple...

If your stay involves walking downtown this is a frugal hotel that we would recommend due to its excellent location and low rates,. This hotel was in the perfect location for dining out, shopping, and sight-setting at a variety of the local atrractions such as the John Hancock Observatory and Millenium Park. It is also just blocks from the Water Tower and a variety of restaraunts. The staff was very friendly and helpful with parking and transportation. Just looking for the lowest price with the best location. This fit both needs. Very quiet although we were on the 6th floor...but no street noise and could not hear people in the rooms next to us.

Although very close to all that is Michigan Avenue, the Red Roof was very deficient in terms of the most basic hotel guest needs---making sure room keys worked; having a hotel maid changes the linens; not being able to call down to the front desk after having requested a change in the hotel linens because the phones did not work; then going down to […] the front desk to request linen changes only to have to repeat that procedure later on, what with the linens not having been changed having to wait for 45 minutes just to print out a Groupon because the lobby computer printer did not work at the time, thus forcing us to print out a Shedd Aquarium Groupon with the front desk printer. While the room was small, I had a good view, clean room and great sleep. Not for large groups. No room service but I didn't need it. Over all My stay was comfy.

The location of this hotel is awesome. If your only going to be in the room for sleep then I guess it would be ok. The rooms are tiny. Bathoom was kinda on the dirty side and very small. Found an old pack of gum on the floor the staff missed. I wouldnt choose this hotel for a romantic getaway by any means. The hotel is great if you arent really picky. Remember it is cheap so dont expect hilton attributes, rooms are kind of small but location is great and price is excellent for downtown chicago.

Close to all the shopping on Michigan Ave - but very tiny rooms. The room was dirty and the Toliet leaked all over the bathroom non stop.

This is a 2 star hotel, if so. Hotel lobby and common areas range between dirty and filthy. Very poorly maintained everywhere. Location is excellent, priced very low for Chicago fares. Small and dirty rooms, but has a great location and cheap rates

GREAT VALUE for the price and location. If you want a luxury hotel with amenities go somewhere else and pay 3X the cost. If you want a bed, shower, and a hotel that is walking distance from all the downtown attractions, you can't beat this one.

Nice stay. People were nice. Close to Navy Pier and other bars / sites. Hotel clerk told my wife and I about a cool new bar around the corner. (second story bar) it ended up being a gay bar. but it was all good didnt stay there long. Hit the pier and others hard. Hangover for two days. Elevator was screwed up.
