Queensboro Hotel - Long Island City

clean and surprisingly quiet for a cheap hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cheap furniture in the rooms, but I would rather have that than filth, noise and rude staff. Would have been more convenient to Manhattan if the 7 train was running across the river, but not too bad even so. Front desk people were very helpful with parking help […] and directions. Folks may be disappointed if they paid full price, but for bargain rates, it is a good deal. Full breakfast included which is nice if you care to eat it. Does include fruit, fruit juice and yogurt. Great stay. Bed was awesome. Heat was awesome. Only complaint was the soap. I had an allergic reaction

After reading some reviews and looking up hotel on its own website, we thought we made a good decision with choosing this hotel. I even called their front desk before booking to ask about some of the things they seem to offer with a room... Parking, Breakfast, etc. When we finally made it to the hotel there was aboslutely NO parking available!!! Theyre […] "so called" parking lot consisted of a small strip of spots in an alley like manner behind the building. Fortunate for us we were able to find a parking spot on the street by the hotel. Once inside, we were told by the receptionist that the King Size Room we paid for in advance was no longer available. Apparently, the rooms are first come first service... whether or not youve already paid for it!!!! Needless to say I was Shocked! We had no alternate but to take a room with double queen size bed. Both of which were soooo uncomfortable my fiance couldnt sleep. And if I may add, like some of the other posts here mentiond... The shower DID need to be cleaned (had hair on the shower wall which shocked me!). The refrigerator didnt work, and the TV was sooo bad you couldnt see a clear picture on it!The hotel was cheap, but like my fiance said during our stay... You get what you pay for. Next trip to NY we will most definitely pay a couple more bucks and stay at another hotel! Devamı

Good breakfast and nice hotel. Location is a bit off but not too bad. Overall recommended for the price. Would consider booking extended stay rooms for my company.

Nice hotel. The metro ( 7 Line) is only a 10 minute walk away. In 15-20 you will be in Midtown Manhattan...The hotel is located in a quiet area. I definately felt safe walking back home to the hotel late at night. Lots of restaurant and fast food places are within walking distance. My room was small, but clean and comfortable. Cable and free wireless […] included. They also offer a free shuttle service to and from La Guardia (but only between 8 am and 4/5 pm). I enjoyed my stay!!! You will too! Devamı

The Queensboro is an excellent value for the money, especially for New York City. No, it's not in Manhattan, but for a mere 20-30 minute walk and subway ride, you're at Grand Central or Times Square. We saved $100 or more per night over similar Manhattan properties, plus we had free on-site parking, a huge bonus since we were driving on this trip. Nicely […] furnished rooms and free hot breakfast too! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is open to staying outside Manhattan. Note, one side of the property faces an expressway, so ask for a room facing the rear if possible. Devamı

This hotel is well cared for, and has a cheery staff. The bathroom was well cared for and the breakfast was great. The location is only a few blocks to the subway, so it is a great place to stay if you can't afford manhattan, but want easy access to it. The only negative for me was the breakfast lady who obviously put a lot of great work into what she […] did, but caused those serving up their plates to walk on egg shells as she was a bit too controlling... Causing discomfort kind of controlling. All in all, totally worth staying there. Devamı

This is a good place to stay for new years eve and if you are just the place to bed down at night. From the hotel, the subway is about 10 minutes. The neighborhood was pretty safe and no shady characters were out even at the late hours that we came back on. The shower wasn't cleaned when we arrived but the bed and the room are nice. The cable channels […] offered aren't great at all...maybe 20ish channels. There is wifi and a computer in the lobby if you need it. I don't like that there was any security for the back door. You could just walk in the hotel without swiping your card. The breakfast was pretty descent compared to other places we have stayed. Apparently there are issues with theft in the hotel rooms...so we brought locks for our luggage. Again, not a bad hotel for the price and if you plan on touring the city....bring some comfy shoes! Had a wonderful time. Comfortable and a nice calm from the busy days spent in the city. The warm breakfast was nice to have each morning as you tend to spend a lot of money while you are out.

Very nice place. I was pleasantly surprised . The staff was friendly, accomodating. The breakfast was surprisingly good. It was easy to find, parking was ample, rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. What more would you want.

It's a standard hotel in the middle of nowhere next to the highway. Add to that the fact that rooms are size of a matchbox (new york standards) and you will have a good idea of your stay will be like. That's cons. As for pros: it's quite affordable for New York. Considering that it's only 4 miles away from Manhattan, you will be spending $20 for a […] cab one way. Even with that in mind, you will spend a lot less money than on a crappy one star hotel in mid Manhattan. They also have a complementary breakfast, which quite honestly was very subpar, but not complaining about it. So overall, a pretty good value if all you need is a place to sleep. Devamı

This hotel was clean, comfortable, and on the whole a good place to spend a weekend in NYC, if a bit out of the way from some of the places I visited. The 7 subway train, from which (with a transfer or two) you can get to most points in the city at all hours of the day, is fairly close by. The lack of "do not disturb" door hangers in the room became […] an issue when housekeeping tried to come in somewhat early in the morning. I left for the day around noon and came back to find the room untouched. I hope that housekeeping is more flexible with other guests. Devamı

The staff was super friendly and helpful. They offered help with the subway giving tips about what to do when service was down and the best route to take into and around the city. The night front desk man was so friendly and was a great host. He made the stay there that much better.

I only have one bad thing about my stay. Not really that big of a thing, just a slight inconvenience. You have the option when booking the hotel to choose a smoking or non-smoking room but it turns out the whole hotel is non-smoking.

Hotel is on side of Long Island Expressway, but both adjacent streets are one way out, and with parking lot on the back of building, I had to drive around 4 blocks to get in. Parking lot is very tight, but there were a few open spot when I arrived. Thank goodness I drove a Honda Fit. However overall, the location is convenient, but it is Long Island […] City after all. Room was very small and mattress was cheap, but overall pretty clean and had a small fridge and microwave. Alarm clock radio didn't work. My room was all the way at the end of the building and wi-fi was weak at the desk, but adequate nearer the center of the room, so I ended up working on the bed with my laptop. Price was fair, the the breakfast was actually not bad. I would consider staying here again at this rate, but I probably wouldn't want to pay any more. Devamı

The hotel is value-priced for NY, 10 min walk from the train, decent neighborhood. Employees always helpful. Bfast was okay, though lacked much variety and biggest hassle was that the dining and service areas are too small, so you're tripping over guests. Room issues- curtains do not close = too much daylight in the early a.m., minifridge wasn't cleaned […] out before arrival, carpet not vacuumed, insufficient lighting especially around desk, almost inaccessible outlets (behind minifridge/armoire cabinet). The bed was like sleeping on the hwy...we paid 35$ to check in early and that was a mistake, they stuck us in a room that had no iron, iron board, soap , and the hardest and most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in ...or shall I say not slept in! The train was not running all wknd which made for a 40$ private car ride 2 miles to Brooklyn back and forth […] everyday day. This hotel will ruin your stay in ny. Highly NOT recommended!!!! Devamı

If you're driving, it's super easy to get to this hotel. Be wary of subway construction, though. The 7 train is one of the main arteries into Queens, and when I was there, it was out between Times Square and Queensboro Plaza. Know your alternate routes, and be ready to transfer if necessary.

The staff was very friendly. Our room was a bit small, but the bed was very comfortable. The wall of the shower near the ceiling looked like they needed a good scrubbing and the toilet seat kept slipping from side to side. Other than that it was good. The breakfast was very delicious. For the price it was reasonable. As far as it's location, it is […] at least a 4 block walk to the metro station which took about 15-20 minutes. We got used to it since we were doing so much other walking. A shuttle would have been nice when we had our luggage though. Devamı

We were glad to see the neighborhood was safe for the walk back from the subway. Convenient and reasonable!

I would say everything is nice except the location. The community is average. The service is good, and the breakfast is nice! I would like recommend it.

Hotel is clean, and I got it for a decent price, bit of a hike to the subway and not a lot of restaurants around except for the fast food places. Would stay again though.

A hidden gem! I would have rated it even higher but it was in the middle of remodeling and things were not completely up to speed at the time of my visit. An "express" hotel that was bought out and is now being very nicely refurbished. Rooms are small but confortable and have all the necessary (but minimal) travel needs: hair dryer; microwave; refrig.;etc. […] Remember: it's an EXPRESS style hotel. At the time of my visit, one of the outlets in the room wasn't working as well as the coke machines on the floors(but I assume this will be corrected with the remodel). Location is ODD but convenient: about 15 min walk frm the subway. Bring GPS/iPhone map the first time! Neighborhood is quite safe and full of interesting shops. Hotel is right next to highway but I didn't find it disturbing or overly noisy. Management was super! Bent over backwards for me. "Free Breakfast" was standard motel/hotel stuff but quite acceptable. Nothing about the hotel stood out to make it a must stay again experience. Everything was just average, at best. The neighborhood was fine, which is good because it is a pretty good hike to the nearest subway station. Room was clean but noisy...right on a major highway. Again, it was just OK and nothing more.

Hotel service was very helpful, directed us right to the subway and made sure that we knew what trains to get on. Our room was excellent for the price, very modern. Parking was free, and it is literally right off of the highway, you may pass it the first time but its very easy to get in and out of the hotel without having to drive through the city. […] The walk to the subway wasnt bad at all, very straight forward and I felt very safe the whole walk. Excellent for the price, I dont think I will be staying anywhere else the next time I go into the city. Bravo Queensboro Hotel, bravo! Devamı

This was my first visit to NYC and found the Hotel to be adequate. As long as the bathrooms are clean I am usually satisfied and found the bathrooms to be clean. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The location I would imagine would be good if your mode of transportation was anything but the subway. We walked approx 3 miles to get to the subway. […] The hotel is located close to a residential neighborhood and I found that convenient when I needed to wash some of my clothes. A laundromat was nearby. There were a few bakery's in the area which was nice along with a variety of different restaurants. We never felt unsafe walking to the subways as the route takes you through a residential area it just was a little far for my mother who was traveling with us. Devamı

The reason I chose this hotel was due to its supposed proximity to the train and the price of the stay. Neither were what they were cracked up to be. The 5 + block walk from the train was less than convenient and when I asked the front desk to call me a cab, they called me a "car", which cost me $50 to get into the city, but I didn't know this until […] I was in the city and already had had the ride. I took a cab back to see what the difference in cost would be? It was $12. They have no thoughtfulness of their guests. The room smelled of cheap cleaning materials and was in a "basement" type area so my cell service was non-existent. For the price, I should have booked somewhere in the city and spent that $50 on something more comfortable. The women at the front desk are indifferent and really offer no information on anything. I did not enjoy my stay at the Queensboro Hotel. Devamı

Worked out well as place to stay for one night before meeting up with friends in City. Staff very attentive, recommended a good little neighborhood restaurant within walking distance. Cabbie was confused as it used to be called Holiday Inn Express. Room smelled of mildew but since I wasn't going to be in there long, I did not ask for a change.
