The Scotsman Hotel - Edinburgh

The hotel was surrounded by night life, and plenty of 5 star amenities within. My one complaint was their description of our room as a suite. Since I was booking for 3 adults, I assumed it meant adjoining space. Not so. The double bed was next to the sofa sleeper which was next to another sofa, which was next to the table and chairs. I tried very hard […] to find accommodations where my adult son did not have to sleep on a couch! If a 3 star hotel can offer 2 double beds, why can't a 5 star? Devamı

This is a lovely hotel with wonderful service. It was fantastic!! We loved it.

Execllent location excellent food and vary service minded staff

Four of us stayed at the Scotsman for a treat. The staff were fantastic, the rooms lovely and the Spa area was good as well. The pool was bigger than I expected in a hotel and so was the gym. Brilliant stay,great location and great staff. the restaurant and breakfast were also fantastic!

On the plus sides: 1. The Scotsman is in a wonderfully central location. 2. The staff are excellent - friendly and helpful (I have stayed in a lot of hotels and the Scotsman's staff really stood out). 3. The rooms are quirky in layout, but good quality. On the minus sides: 1. The sound-proofing isn't the best and you get external noise at night (including […] building work on Waverley Station). 2. The room was horribly hot with no way of cooling it down (we turned the temperature control to cool, but no joy). 3. The breakfast in bed was a bit iffy - very average museli. The Scotsman was ideal for a realxing and luurious short breakin Edinburgh. It is a luxury hotel but not 'snobbish'; staff were all very friendly and welcoming. A beautiful old building in the heart of the city. Close to the railway station and not too far away from the theatre which was the reason for my stay. All staff were curtious and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was lovely and next time I plan to have dinner in the brasserie as I will be staying again.

The staff was so friendly & helpful, especially Nick & Jeremy. The bar staff (Jordan, Elias & Cesare) made fantastic cocktails & were very helpful in recommendations for sightseeing outside of Edinburgh. The Scotman is the most comfortable Hotel we have stayed in Edinburgh for a long time, the service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Once again had a lovely, relaxing stay at The Scotsman. Excellent central location for all tourists sites in Edinburgh. Staff very polite and helpful. Everything was good - room, staff, etc Except, I got food poisoning from dinner on my first night, told them about it and still got billied for the food and heard nothing back. Also, the treadmills in the gym are awful - someone is going to get injured on them.

This was an excellent choice for our first time in Edinburgh. Close to everything, spacious rooms with character and friendly service. To be balanced my wife thought the tissues were too rough! One hint if you're coming from the train station: yes it's close and handy but it's a nuisance if you miss the bottom floor entrance.

The Hotel was beautiful and comfortable. The location was perfect, I would stay there again.

This hotel was so wonderful I wanted to stay there a week! Our room was HUGE, about 45 x 12 ft, with a bathroom of 10 x 14 ft. Beautiful decor, a crystal decanter of Scottish whiskey on a table,a bathtub the size of a small pond, an infinity pool in the health spa with a stainless steel liner: amazing! Great location by the train station, and many nearby […] places to eat and drink. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only slight negatives were the lack of heating in the rooms, as they hadn't turned on the radiators for the winter yet. Also, their kitchen has limited capacity. We tried to eat there one night but they had a dinner for 30 persons elsewhere in the hotel, so couldn't accommodate us until way too late. Bt there were plenty of other options nearby. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Edinburgh. Devamı

Hotel is in the perfect location. Easy access to and from the hotel via airport express bus that you catch at lower market street and waverly bridge. Around the corner, right in the middle of the royal mile. Ideal location period.

I was in Edinburgh in August with my two daughters. The three of us stayed in a suite. Other than the beds being a little uncomfortable, everything else was great. The front desk was very helpful in providing information and recommendations on dining or sites. They went as far as booking dinners for us. The hotel breakfasts were great. The rooms at The Scotsman are fantastic and it is conveniently located near the train station and tour pick ups. It was an easy walk to all of the main attractions. The rooms are large, the building grand and awesome shower with water pressure. No hesitation for us to return or recommend friends and family.

The service was poor. We had to carry our own luggage when we arrived up to the Hotel from the Street level. The same when we checked out. The Hotel is not 5 star rating as noted on Hotel. com. It is in need of remodeling/repair. There is no air condition, therefore you are at the mercy of what air you can get from the opened windows...not to mention […] the smells. The Spa was never available in the 4 nights we were there. The restaurant was the only thing going for this hotel. I would recommend the Balomarol Hotel down the street or The Radisson on The Royal Mile. The Royal Mile is made up of Pubs and Souvenir Shops that are all Alike. In fact, I wouldn't doubt they are owned by the same family. What you didn't purchase in Store #1...you might have found at their cousins shop down the way. Shop after shop was all the same thing. 4 days of walking the mile is 3 days too many. Devamı

Fantastic 5 star hotel walking distance to Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Not cheap but definitely worth it . The Hotel's restaurant is OK but not as stellar as the rest of the operation.

A wonderful hotel located right in the heart of city center by the Royal Mile and a short walk to the castle. The staff was great. The rooms were perfect.

My wife and stayed at the Scotsman and were we pleased. The location was great the food incredable and the staff were all excellent. We toured around the UK for 2 weeks on this holiday and our stay at the Scotsman was by far the best of the trip.

Fantasic quirky hotel. Staff very charming and cannot do enough to help you. Room very comfortable and the hotel is in the most convenient location at the centre of the city. Highly recommended

The hotel has a great view to the castle, the room was amazing and the biggest gym and pool that a hotel can offer. The services very friendly.

The hotel service was good, the room clean and friendly, however there was one thing that really let it down. The bed was really springy and uncomfortable. Not what I'd aspect from a 5 star hotel. When we checked out and complained we got an oh sorry we'll get maintenance up there to sort it out. I would have expected something more than an oh sorry. […] Having stayed at the balmoral I preferred that hotel to the scotsman. Although this is being picky I found there very little room to put thing on in the room. The tables all had things on them and the bathroom had no room on the sink to put toiletries. Devamı

Stayed at the Scotman for 2 nights and loved every minute of it. Great location and comfortable stay. I would recommend it to anyone planning to see the sights and sounds of the beautiful city of Edinburgh.

While not the highest end hotel in Edinburgh, The Scotsman provides an excellent location, with very comfortable rooms and great service. It has been converted from the old offices for The Scotsman newspaper. We got one of the Editor suites which had a king bed, a sitting area with a view over Waverly Station and out to the Firth of Forth, a first class […] bathroom, desk with wireless access and plenty of closet space. We also had a little pull out couch. It's an easy walk to the center of the Royal Mile or across the bridge to New Town. And you can spit on the train station and the pick up spot for many tours. The hotel staff was available to help with any of our needs 24/7, including arranging a car and driver on short notice when the one we had arranged ahead of time had mechanical problems. Devamı
