Murrayfield Hotel - Edinburgh

it was certainly comfortable, neat, large rooms.and maybe more quiet if you stay outside the main building which is almost the next house. the staff was increadibly helpfull, try to answer all your questions. only a few bus stop away from the center of the city. A rather small room, so no real place to set up a laptop but for the price paid I was quite happy. There was about 6 flights of stairs up to the top rooms so make sure you let them know if you'd have problems walking up them (might be a lift?) Ive stayed here quite a few times and there seems to be different grades and sizes of rooms, the ones on the […] lower floor I think are the most recently decorated and much larger. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Perfect location for Murrayfield stadium, as it's only 5 mins walking distance away. Hotel was clean and nice size rooms. Warm feeling about the hotel, with a personal touch, unlike you can get in the big chain hotels sometimes. Would recomend and would stay again.

wonderful hotel, fab friendly staff, loved Edinburgh...can't wait to get back to the Murrayfield!!

Helpful & friendly staff, along with a large bar. Hotel being refurbished, so can only get better. Great value for money. Watch out for the lights going out when in the shower though!. Limited parking during refurbishment Very handy for the Rugby or the football

From the outside this hotel looks very run of the mill, but inside it is a different story. We stopped in the new section of the hotel in a superior room which was very comfortable, and excellent value for money. The food in the bar was limited although there is a restaurant on site which is more expensive. Overall well worth a stay.

We booked this hotel for a cheap trip to the zoo due to its location. On arrival we got a reasonable room but later changed rooms due to a water leak. Our first room was a little dated and grubby looking but our second room was of very high standard - beautiful bathroom and huge bed. We ate in the restaurant and it was brilliant - really lovely food […] and very reasonably priced. Our room was spotless, warm and really quite. The staff couldnt have been nicer. This would be a great hotel for a sports, not so good if you are on a business trip, I was awoken very early by a beer delivery going on directly outside my window, no pre warning of this was given

* Reception service was good * Room was nice but could be doing with some refurbishment * Bar was good * Service at breakfast was slow however the food was nice * Overall it was good value for money

Very nice hotel. Good location. Breakfasts all right too. In house restaurant is excellent. Great ambiance and staff. We'd stay there again anytime.

The Murrayfield is a step into the past. It is not a new building. It does not have an elevator. (And all rooms are up at least one flight of steps.) What it does have is a certain charm, a good restaurant, a great staff. It is closer to the airport than staying downtown. There is a bus stop just a few feet from the Murrayfield. Everyone was exceptionally […] helpful. I only wish I had been able to stay late enough to have the full breakfast (which starts at 7:30). I was able to have a speedy continental breakfast. This hotel is in a very good location,with good lpublic transport links to the airport,train stations & city centre.I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Edinburgh.

Rooms are very comfortable, breakfast was superb. Convenient & frequent bus service to center just outside hotel (buy all day ticket, bargain).

Very good value for a large city hotel. Out of city centre but only a 5 min bus ride to centre. The food was a little disapointing and not as good a value as the accomodation.

The hotel staff were very friendly and handled any requests politely and with speed.Perhaps could do with an earlier check-in time before 14: 00.The only downside we had was that we requested a double bed which was in fact 2 singles pushed together and fastened and the ridges of the edges of the mattresses did begin to become uncomfortable after a time,could […] tolerate it for the weekend but for any longer a proper double bed would be better,we stayed just for a short break and there were frequent bus services into the city centre,stops both ways just a couple of minutes walk away.I would recommend this hotel for any one visiting Edinburgh on a leisure break. My Wife and I came to Edinburgh on our honeymoon and we were on a budget to begin with, so booking the murrayfield we knew going in we weren't getting a 5 star hotel-and sure enough, the rooms are basic, but they have everything you need! The room was comfortable, apart from a dodgy radiator that made noise during the night, but hey, for the price we […] paid and the fact we only used the hotel as a base to explore the city i can live with that! The staff were fantastic, and really friendly throughout our stay! The food (breakfast is all we had there) was great and my wife and i had fry up each day! I was initally apprehensive after booking this hotel as i read the other negative reviews, but in all honesty, it's clear some people complain over everything!--don't expect the Clarion, and you'll find it's very good all round! i really enjoyed it, and will recommend to friends! The Only thing i would say, is that with a few bob spent, they could turn the place into something special! The hotel is very well situated--500 yards from murrayfield (although no impeding stadium views), and 5 mins from the Zoo, 10 mins by car to city centre! Good bus service too from what i saw! So final verdict is : if you're looking for a friendly, basic but good value for money place to stay, can't really do any better!! Devamı

Room was very shabby , with paper hanging off the celling , also loose floor tile's in the bathroom and no toilet roll holder. My main concern was someone else's hair stuck to tile's in shower ( NOT HEAD HAIR ) . On the plus side breakfast was very good. Have photo's if required.

Value for money. Room was comfortable. I booked a single, the bed was double but the room small - not sure if that was the single room or not! Bathroom was new with nice products! The veggie breakfast was very tasty. Overall I was very happy with my stay.

Room size wasn't huge, but better than most European rooms I've stayed in recently. Large bathroom helps the comfort level. Free parking is great. Most attractions very close by. Hotel staff were very helpful with directions and requests. We ate at the pub downstairs all 4 nights of our stay, food was great. The Hotel is conveniently placed near Murrayfiled. Literally 2 min walk to the home of Scottish Rugby. There is good beers on offer and friendly staff. The rooms are luxurious and large. The food is decent in the bar and great in the Restaurant.

This excellent hotel could have been perfect given a few extra staff at the breakfast "rush hour". The ever so friendly staff just could not cope and even ran out of bowls. The food quality could not be faulted.

We stayed in this hotel because it was close to the Rugby game we were going to and it was definetly one we would go back to, room, staff and breakfast was fantastic

Room was nice, clean and nicely decorated, nice big bed. Bathroom was a wet room which was a good idea but hadn’t been properly thought through. Drainage didn’t work well and as a result the water from the shower had leaked out of the bathroom soaking the carpet in the bedroom. Also there was no proper barrier between the floor of the bathroom and the […] bedroom. Informed the reception staff of the situation and, whilst the woman was apologetic there was no offer made of moving us to another room. Breakfast was fine apart from the fire alarm being set off by the toaster! Staff not very friendly but then that’s maybe just Edinburgh! Great Hotel location. Everything you need, nothing more, nothing less. Don't be late for breakfast, since your options would then be limited. They bought another premises close to the hotel and our room didn't have any shelves for our clothing, but this wasn't a train smash.

We stayed 1 night and they put us in this new building, they probably have probably acquired, not renovated yet (several blocks away from the main hotel block). The building was in really terrible terrible shape, more like a haunted house than a hotel, with broker fixtures Room was fine, and morning breakfast (in main block) was good. Everything at the hotel was fine and we had a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was excellent.

Very nice hotel, in a very good location. Good choice of meals in resturant. Full breakfast also set us up for a day of sight seeing.

Historic building, local flavor, friendly, helpful staff, nice bar with decent meals. The building is somewhat dilapidated- our room had duct tape on the window frame, a cheap, upside-down lampshade for a ceiling fixture, and the shower didn't work. Still, the room was quiet, and the hotel was relatively reasonably priced and close to the airport.

When you first enter the hotel, it seems a bit dated. However, the rooms are super clean with modern furniture. Breakfast was also great and the location of the hotel is conveniently located on the way from the airport the the city center. Only two minor complaints: The hotel does not have an elevator, so walking up 3 floors with luggage can be diffult […] (although the front desk did ask if we needed help). I was pretty pleased with the decore and character of the hotel. However, my room had an odor that implied that it was once a smoking room. I found that my clothes smelled of it after I left. The bed was a bit too firm but the overall room was nice. The breakfast in the morning was quite wonderful!

L'entretien n'était pas parfait: dans ma chambre la corde du téléphone était cassé (vite réparé et boisson à choix gentiment offerte), lavabo partiellement bouché (signalé mais pas corrigé pendant ma visite), lumière au dessus du lavabo ne fonctionnait pas, […] distributeur de lait corporel cassé. Très peu de place dans la chambre puisque le lit 'king size' occupait presque toute la surface (pour 2 personnes ça pourrait être gênant). Salle de bains très bien hormis les détailles notées. L' Hotel è situato in un ottima posizione per raggiungere il centro e vari luoghi di interesse della città essendo ben servito da mezzi pubblici. L'uniche cose negative sono Bagno senza spazzetino in 4 notti mai cambiate le lenzuola e la colazione scarsa o praticamente inesistente, pane tostato un pò di burro un pò di marmellata, cereali e nessun tipo […] di dolce per garantire una colazione diversa per chi non piace la colazione tipica inglese. La situation de cet hôtel est rêvée pour assister à un match de Rugby (ce qui était mon cas)malheureusement, la qualité de l'hôtel laisse à désirer: chambre particulièrement exigüe,située à l'arrière de l'hôtel, avec pour fenêtre, une sorte de vasistas!,le couvercle de la lunette des toilettes de guingois!, un manque de fraicheur évident de toutes les […] peintures et papiers peints, des allers et venues dans le couloir de l'hôtel en pleine nuit avec dialogues à voix haute sans complexe! enfin,si l'équipe de l'hôtel s'est montrée plutôt sympathique, on pourra tout de même regretter que personne ne fasse l'effort de parler Français ( ne serait-ce que quelques mots!). Bref, situation idéale sur le plan géographique mais le reste est à revoir sérieusement et dans l'état actuel de cet établissement, je ne peux le recommander . Devamı

Koselig hotell 10 min fra sentrum, litt sliten standard men veldig bra betjening som var veldig imøtekommende og hjelpsom. God mat på hotellets resturant! Pluss: service, koselig pub, god mat. Minus: Bygningen trenger oppussing.

Eit lite men bra hotell. Ligger ca 7 min med buss frå sentrum av edinburgh. Går mange busser. veldig hyggelig betjening. Litt lite rom. God frokost og bra mat på puben som låg i samme byggning.
