Econo Lodge Ames - Ames

We were traveling through and needed a place to stay. It worked out very well.

The Hotel is clean and in good repair. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The room we were in this time was a little musty smelling and the refrigerator was so loud we had to unplug it. Not big things, easily taken care of and we will stay there again.

The room had a stale smell. We got rid of it with some Febreze. The room was otherwise clean. Good for an overnight stay, and easy to find.

Staff was friendly. Breakfast was better than expected.

Upon arriving the room I requested was not available and I ended up in a smoking room. It felt very dirty and old, old tv, old bed coverings, etc . Apparently the hotel was full and when I went down for complimentary breakfast there was no food left and there was not even cream for coffee, ( come on send someone to the store). There was also no complimentary […] products, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The following evening I switched hotels and for the same price I stayed in a beautiful room, modern with all the bells and whistles, complimentary breakfast made to order. Would NEVER stay at this hotel again, what a rip off. Devamı

This hotel was fine. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. We did rent two rooms and one of them had a microwave and minifridge white the other had neither, despite being charged the same rate for both. Strange.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is close (ish) to Duff avenue attractions and easy to get to. Great Value.

I checked in at the front desk. I asked for a room on the building side away from the highway and on the first floor. I was given a 2nd floor room facing the highway. Strike 1. I went out to dinner and came back to my room when I discovered my key no longer worked. I went to the front desk and there was half of my luggage minus my iPad behind the front […] desk. The desk manager said he tried to rent my room to someone else and that guest said there was already someone in the room. I have no idea why he took my stuff out of the room. I told him my iPad better still be in the room, which it was. Strike 2. The manager then asked if I now wanted a room facing away from the highway. I said sure. We both walked to a different room on the same floor and the manager opened the door. There was somebody showering in that room!! Strike 3! This was complete incompetence. There were 3 cars in the parking lot when I checked in. How hard is it to keep track of 3 guests? The manager that checked me in at 4:00 p.m. was the same person (wearing the same clothes) that I saw on my way out at 6:45 a.m. the next day. I will never stay at this hotel again. Devamı

Although the motel is somewhat aged it is very quiet and I found my room very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is located out by the highway on the edge of town but that's where most of the lodging in town is.

Impacted by weather, wasn't sure we would get there but Econo Lodge said no problem, they would still cancel late, no charge. Did arrive very late. Guest clerk offered 2nd floor room "a little newer" if we didn't mine the steps. Firm bed (we like it that way). Clean room. Heater fan a little noisy, but didn't leave it on. Slept in next morning and missed […] breakfast. Workers said "come on in - still some donuts, bisquits and gravey coffee and juice available. Can't say enough good and the rate was the lowest around. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Room was clean and roomy enough. It is right off the freeway, so if you're not used to traffic, you'll hear it on that side, but it was tolerable. Didn't have the breakfast (chose to sleep in that day) but it looked like they had waffles available. They were willing to make me a fresh pot of coffee when […] I wanted it (there were small coffee pots in rooms) and the breakfast area looked very neat and clean. In my room was a microwave and I believe a refrigerator as well, so that was nice if I would have needed it. Over all, very happy with my stay and will stay there again should the need arise. Devamı

Convenient and clean with the usual room and hot breakfast buffet; pool is small and plain but okay and is open convenient hours. Right by the highway but only ten minutes from Iowa State campus. The staff got me into non-smoking even though hotels.com said only smoking was left. I was surprised that though it was ISU's homecoming and there were almost […] no rooms left in town, this one still cost a normal price -- the next cheapest in town was 50% more. A good economical choice for a hotel in Ames. Comfortable beds/pillow and updated & clean bathroom are the key features for me. Basic amenities only, but a breakfast that will get the kids going and save a few bucks as well.

Comfortable, simple motel. Easy access to highways and restaurants, shops, and Iowa State University, Rooms are spacious and quiet. Friendly and capable staff. Complimentary breakfast was quite nice. Non-smoking property.

Cons: - Room smelled musty - Drain in shower did not work well (it was more like a bath than a shower) - Bathroom floor was very wet after shower (problem with curtain) - Pillows were very flat Pros: - Staff was very friendly - Located right off interestate - Short drive to food and shopping - Bed was comfortable

Moved my daughter to Iowa State University and didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for one night in a hotel. Chose the EconoLodge based on other reviews and they were all very accurate. This facility was very nice, very clean and comfortable and the price was extremely reasonable. The room was quiet. We weren't overly impressed with the breakfast […] but the coffee was delicious! Staff were all very nice and helpful. Will definitely stay here again! Devamı

The price was inexpensive so... The whole hotel smells like chlorine. The hallways and breakfast area cold use some "modernization". The comfort of the room was good. It was a cool night so I didn't have to run the A/C. Either the soap or water softener the hotel uses has some crazy ingredient that I couldn't get off my skin. I'm using to dealing with […] "hard" water in this region of the country, and this wasn't an issue at this hotel. Devamı

The hotel was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The show was invigorating. The hotel staff was friendly and welcoming.

I expected this hotel to be rather average but was pleasantly surprised when it was not only above average but clean AND quiet! I was able to return between shifts and nap without any problem. The room was ultra comfortable and included an overstuffed chair which help me unwind. I would definitly recommend this hotel to others!

Convenient location, right off of interstate. Limited selection of restaurants in immediate area; you have to go into town for more variety. Very clean rooms. I also appreciate that the walkways/spaces between buildings are now enclosed so you can go between without going outside. Nicely done, too. Breakfast was ok, but too starchy. This was a nice clean (!) hotel to stay for a night on the road. The breakfast was hot and plentiful-we didn't go down until almost 9 and there was still enough and we didn't feel like we were eating the leftovers. So often, complimentary breakfasts are sparse or they run out. There were biscuits and gravy, waffle iron/batter, or cereal and donuts. […] The towels and sheets were surprisingly good quality for the price of the hotel. Pillows were small, but overall we were very happy with the value we received. All hotel employees we encountered spoke English too. The room was so cool upon arrival that we actually turned the AC down a bit. There is no elevator which might be an issue for some if you stay on the second floor. I would definitely recommend the Econolodge in Ames if you need a nice, clean bed and shower and are not into the decor. Devamı

I've paid a lot more for a lot less. The staff was very helpful. decent breakfast. Room was clean, comfortable and quite. Wish there was more than Mexican to eat nearby but, no big deal.

Check in staff was not very friendly, room was not ready at check in time and was a smoking room even though a non-smoking room was requested. Only 2 pillows per bed and they were fairly flat. Beds were comfortable tho. 3 towels and 3 washcloths when registered for 4 guests. Room service forgot to clean our room the first night. When we reminded the front desk they only replaced the towels and did not make the bed. The room on the first floor was very noisy as the occupants of the room above us caused their floor to creek every time they walked around the room. The bathroom sink creeked when leaning on it.

we had stayed at this motel previously under another name and now that econo lodge has bought it is much better. the staff was very friendly and helpful at both check-in and check-out. the breakfast has make your own waffles which totally rocked! the beds were very comfortable and even though our room was located close to the breakfast space we didn't […] hear a thing until we left our room in the morning. a great place to stay for the money!
