Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Decatur - Decatur

This was an excellent stay. I go to the Decatur area about three or four times a year for business and this was my first time using these facilities...great choice. It is a good location, the staff was helpful, and the hotel clean.

We were looking for somewhere to rest for the night during a long road trip, and this happened to be the perfect place to break up the trip. The room was clean, and the staff was the friendliest of all of the hotels that I have ever visited. We arrived late, and it was dark around the hotel--not many exterior lights. However, it was very quiet in the […] area, and I did not feel threatened. As another reviewer posted, the bed was super comfy. A breakfast of grits, waffles, omelets, pastries, oatmeal, and cereal was provided--which was an added bonus with the great price of the room. It took us about ten minutes to get to it off of I-65, but the savings were worth it. We will use this hotel from now on when we make this trip instead of previous ones that we have used. This is an older hotel, but for the price we paid on hotel.com it was awesome. We had a large suite, nice breakfast.

Great three night stay at Country Inn & Suites. Staff was very polite and friendly, room was clean with very comfortable beds A/C worked great and a hot shower. Also great breakfast menu. Only one very minor issue no Golf Channel on room TV.

The rooms smelled of a powder scent like carpet fresh when we first entered. This did not fare well with my allergies. The king bed was rock hard and caused me back pain both nights and I am a fan of hard mattresses. The continental breakfast was worthless unless you desire stale biscuits and dried up eggs. It was worth the 5-6 mi. off the interstate and into the little town of Decatur to stay at this lovely, quiet, hotel. While obviously not a new hotel, it is lovely and such a change to walk into a large, pretty, lobby (grand piano), it has an aire of a classy, and bigone, era. Hotel sits on an interesting historical site which I enjoyed the next morning. […] The rooms are very large compared to the average interstate motel, very comfortable and tasteful. Bath is separated by double doors, nice size refrigerator and microwave, nice bed (kg) and furnishings are all tastefully done. This hotel is large with long "rambling" hallways which can be confusing when first checking in, but easily negotiated once you orient yourself in the setting. The inner courtyard and pool area are lovely. Though I only stayed overnight on a trip from St. Louis to Florida, I will definitely go the few minutes off Interstate 65 to stay at this hotel again, so different and very welcome change from the Interstate motels, and for no more $$'s ! The desk clerks, night and day, are absolutely the model of southern manners and hospitality, again, what a change from your typical interstate motel. I held back on giving 5 stars in all categories only because of the expectations some readers might have for a five star hotel. While not ultra luxury, this hotel with its very large, clean, well appointed rooms with new furnishings does not show all the signs of wear we have all come to dread in roadside motels. This is kind of place you could spend at week at comfortably. One word of warning, this is in the heart of a small, 1950's look "downtown" era setting (charming to be sure !), so if you arrive late and need an evening meal, choose one of the many chain places on the way in or the "beltline" around Decatur. I liked this place enough I would drive the short distance to Huntsville and the tourist attractions there, rather than stay at the typical roadside motels. Staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean, bed was extremely comfortable. Stayed 2 nights and will be back.

Four of us girls came to go to the Natalie Grant concert at Decatur Baptist Church March 10, 2012. The location of the hotel was beautiful and we loved the row of shops that were next door. The room was spacious and very clean. We had a great time and will definitely come back and stay there. I have referred many people to the hotel. Thank you!

We just made a quick overnight stop while traveling, but were very pleased... The staff was very courteous and helpful... The building is nice, buy the lobby is more up to date than the upstairs... The location is away from the interstate but that was a plus to me... Much quieter... We enjoyed our visit to this hotel. Everything was clean, convenient, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast superb. We experienced only 2 problems: the TV remote would not work, but the desk clerk got us another one; the heating unit was noisy. We heard the heat come on almost every time. We would certainly stay here again.

Hotel smelled nice and clean, but the room itself had a grungy shower. The gym only had one cardio machine working (the treadmill), and the weight training machines were out of order. This made me upset since I was primarily looking for a hotel that had a gym to workout in while I was away from my own gym. There breakfast was filling, with choices like: […] eggs, canadian bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, cereal, cheese omelettes, omelette toppers, waffles, yogurt, fresh fruit, oatmeal, fruit juices, coffee, etc. The tv's are old and dated, couldn't find plug ins for my dvd player in living room area, so I had to plug it in in the bedroom. It's 10 minutes off the interstate-You'll need navigation. IF you like a little history--This hotel is right in the historic downtown--and that is NICE! Well lit, pedestrian friendly, and some good southern history. This hotel IS older, but clean. We didn't pay much and the staff was super friendly. Can't ask for a better place for the proce.

The hotel is close to the river, downtown antique shops and all major thoroughfares. The staff was courteous and accommodating. The hotel has a great little court yard to sit and read, do work or catch up with friends/family. The breakfast buffet is better than most with grits and buttermilk biscuits - southern fare. I stayed two nights in a suite and found it to be very accommodating. The staff at the front desk was very friendly when I checked in. The room itself was very nice. Not state of the art fancy but had a homely feel which was nice. My only complaint is I felt like the room with the bed didn't get as cold as the other room. The best part of the stay […] was the hot breakfast both mornings. The second morning we showed up right before they were closing but the staff was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed before they started cleaning up the food. Located in the beautiful Old Town of Decatur. Outside there is a lot of noise from Highway 20 and the railroad track. However, I had an inside room and the noise was not a problem in my room.

You're not spoiled for choice when staying in Decatur and, over the years, I've stayed in numerous hotels. Though none has been fantastic, the Country Inns & Suites is pretty good. We got the suite for the extra room for a todder to roam and a pack and play. The room was spacious, there was a fridge and microwave and it was clean (not crisp white duvet […] on the bed clean, but pretty clean nonetheless) and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was included with each nights stay which was a great deal compared to the other nearby motels and I was surprised by what was on offer for the breakfast--eggs, sausage, cereal, make your own waffles. Could it be nicer? Sure, it's a bit rundown. But the staff is friendly and helpful and for the money, you defintely get what you pay for. If you're not expecting a five star experience at a two or three star price, you'll probably like this hotel just fine. I would go back. (And there's a great antique store across the street and a super restaurant next door). Devamı

Great hotel and service. The staff was very helpful. The airconditioning was struggling to keep the room cool. The curtains did not fully close to block out morning light.

1. There seemed to be some problem with hotels.com charge card during check-in. 2. Nobody came to clean our room for the second night. 3. Hotel price was good and is not too far from Huntsville.

Rooms were great for our large famiy, having the closed off bedroom was a blessing! Overall great experience but we were shocked that when we returned to our room the 2nd day of our stay at 5pm, the maid had not been to our room at all. Even after we saw her that morning and she asked if we were going to be gone a while, I told her we would be back […] in the evening. My husnband had to track down clean towels to exchange. This hotel is an older hotel, so it isn't the most up to date in design, but the service and location of this hotel is top-notch! It's only 2 blocks from the Princess Theatre and the staff was so nice and helpful. And, you can't beat the price! I will definitely be staying there again.

we absolutely loved your hotel but for 1 thing, we usually have to travel with our pet and unless you cam accomadate our pet we want be able to stay at your hotel. thanks

The rate was great, but it took a while before a registration person came from the back to finalize our reservation. Also, the next morning went down to breakfast and the breakfast was not hot. In addition, a large group was there and there was no place to stand or sit and it was extremely crowded. This hotel lacked simple maintenance. Dead bug in the bathroom, daughter's room had hair on the floor, but the worst was an unlit parking lot had four cars broken into. Officer said it happens often at that hotel in that specific lot.

Super nice staff, very comfortable beds, and great location to Wheeler Lake---will definitely stay again!

Nice hotel in convenient location to Wheeler Lake where we were working. Bed was super comfortable, breakfast was great, room was very clean and EVERY ONE of the staff we encountered was polite, helpful, and bent over backwards to help us. I didn't want to leave! Would and will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. However, the one complaint I had was that there was a party scheduled to last until 11:00 - right outside my room! Great stay and great breakfast!

I arrived late in the evening - well past dark. The front desk clerk was scary and seemed annoyed. He ony told me the room was in the back of the building. There were no lights in the parking lot and was also not a friendly area. I finally found my room after going through three outer doors of the hotel. When I found my room the front door was very […] loose and all of the lamps were missing light bulbs. The bathroom was smaller that my closet at home and for someone who is 6'5" and 300 lbs thats not good. The bed was the highlight of the room, it was very comfortable.....if the rest of the room and parking area was as nice as the bed i would not be writing this. Breakfast was a little dicey, but I had just spent the past 3 weeks in a Staybridge Suite in Charlotte, NC and they had a great breakfast every morning. So I may have been bias on that. Upon checkout the next morning the staff was accomodating and I told them of the lighting. I moved to a Jameson Inn not far away and was well satisfied there. I've stayed in other Country Inn hotels and was completely satisfied. This one was a little scary. Sorry but that's all I can say. Devamı

We had 2 rooms for the weekend. Overall the hotel does not look bad but when you start looking there are a few details that should be looked at. Outside out door was a big cob web that was in and around the light. The bathroom door stuck and the dresser was missing a screw for one of the pulls. As I said, small things that add up. The second room had […] a musty smell to it and when I removed the cold air return to look at the filter I don't think it had been changed in years. The dirt and dust was caked on. I removed it from the return so that someone would change it. Having a daughter in Decatur, this hotel is very convenient for us. I just wish they would do a little more cleaning on the outside and check all the air return filters so that other people would not get sick like I did. Devamı

The staff at the hotel was very pleasant and friendly. While the room was very clean and contained relatively new looking furnishings, you can tell this is an older property. The concrete on the external stairs has crumbled away in places. The lid on the toilet was the wrong size and did not completely cover the tank. Although the desk clerk did not […] tell me that there is an elevator, one does exist and there is no need to haul your bags up the stairs. The elevator is fairly well hidden and you have to ask for directions to it. Speaking of hidden things, the sign for the hotel can not be seen from the highway. The leaves on the trees hid the sign as the trees are taller than it. Also, the hotel name is not on the front of the building or the door. I suggest you use Google Earth to find it before you go. The public areas of the hotel are beautiful and very luxurious. The breakfast far surpassed my expectations. It was excellent. The room left alot to be desired. Bathroom was small. There was a water stain on the ceiling. All in all the room was a dissapointment. Think my money would of been better spent at another hotel.

One of the friendliest staffs I have ever met including all english speaking room attendants that were very helpful. Bed was very comfy. It was a business trip and I took whole family with me and they were left without a car all day. No problem. Downtown decatur with historic homes, restaurants, antique shops, and parks were all no more than 2 blocks […] away. Perfect location. I will definitely be back, and for the price, you can't beat it. Nice lobby with a computer terminal for guest use. Very good breakfast selection. Front desk staff helpful. Room was clean, and adequate but had to ask for replacement tissues. Janitorial around outside of building needs improvement. Good idea to request room away from railroad tracks.
