Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket - Phuket

The room smelled like mold and there was visible signs of mold all over the ceilings and walls. The furniture, phone and closet was dirty. The phone actually smelled when you used it to make a call. The beach was covered with cigarette butts and styrofoam. Would definately not stay again.

The only reason I am giving the service 4 out of 5 is that they were training a few new employees, but the old staff were wonderful as always!!! Like going to stay with old friends eveytime we stay at Dusit Phuket :) You can not beat the location or the facilities for a fun filled family vacation with golfing parents. Very relaxing and beatiful Thai cultural setting, the hotel situated on a quieter beach with many local restaurants and bars on the beach, we loved it! We enjoyed our beach walk, elephant ride on the beach. Massages on the beach is superb.

We booked 4 nights in a Club room as part of our honeymoon in Nov 2012 as a treat however very disappointed with the hotel. We never stayed with Dusit before so gave it a go as it claims to be a 5 -star hotel chain in thailand. On the website it stated that the CLUB ROOM is " Only a few steps away from Phuket's longest beachfront" and "The endless […] attractions of sea view off the private patio" . That is SO NOT TRUE. Our rooms is facing directly to the back of the italian restaurant, full of cooking smells and all that! There's only about a 10 degrees sea view that we can get from our room. ( i have to say some rooms are amazing as its directly facing the sea but we just feel that they CAN NOT sell the room we stayed as a CLUB ROOM. I would say only 25% of the club rooms are truly fulfil what they described as a Club Room) Rooms are not very clean either. We found an opened can of soft drinks in our fridge and spillage also. What a wonderful time. We booked 4 nights in a club room and was upgraded to a suite on arrival. From check in to check out it was a wonderful experience in a fabulous hotel. The food in the Thai restaurant was the best Thai we had during our entire trip. The breakfast was a mix of western and local foods with everything from fresh omelets to spicy […] Thai noodles. Right on the beach which was not crowded at all, we went to Patong beach and it was packed. We took a taxi from the hotel to go shopping and sight seeing for the day. The driver was nice a drove very safe stopping at various shops and waiting for us to shop. The whole day cost us 2000 baht ($60. usd). The entire staff was very nice and eager to help with what ever you need and with a constant smile. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone from honeymooners to full families. Devamı

Brilliant hotel. We went in May. It was off peak season so it seems quiet and each hotel in the Laguna area only open 2 restaurants each during off peak season. We walked pass the spa on our last day and they were doing half price offers. Was gutted as we were waiting for taxi for airport to go home. People very friendly. The check in process was amazing! […] They sit you down and bring you a nice welcome gift and drink. There is a desk at the airport which helps get you a taxi at a cheaper fixed rate. Taxi to Patong was about 700 Baht (£14). Must go to Lotus, the restaurant on the beach. Prices are reasonable like UK prices. Free shuttle bus from hotels in the Laguna area to Lotus (ask the front desk to call them for you) and also to other hotels in the area. The Laguna area is quiet, but much nicer than staying a Patong beach. We walk out the hotel and you are at the beach. Off peak season meant it was very quiet, and the waves were too strong to go in the water. But it is beautiful. I defo recommend getting hotel to book a day trip to James Bond island including the canoeing under caves etc at Phang Nga Bay. Best experience ever! Devamı

The staff are amazing! Nothing was too much trouble and we were helped with every request. Our room was a double lagoon view and was surprisingly large, tastefully decorated with a spacious marble bathroom. Everyday we received complimentary water and fruit. The room rate included a fresh tasty buffet breakfast with an enormous selection that changed […] daily. Which meant I enjoyed curry for breakfast! ( a favourite indulgence I always look forward to when visiting Asian countries). The pool area was a favourite spot to sit and read or enjoy swimming with the kids. This hotel resort is perfect for mature couples or/and families desperate to just relax. Younger (and the young at heart) travellers looking for a resort in which to party or go out for conveniently located night-life may find the Dusit a little tame. Devamı

Despite the relatively aged and traditional Thai decor of this resort, the service throughout my trip has been outstanding. The staff were courteous, helpful and spoken decent English. Like some other Dusit hotels, I feel this one has lost its 5* appeal. Strikes me now as more a 4* resort although parts of it are still very enjoyable. Hotel service was excellent in all areas, though the service was sometimes a little strained during the busy breakfast period. All of the restaurants offered good quality authentic food and attentive service. If I had any criticisms, the Thai restaurant had one of the smallest menus I have ever seen and all of the nearby Thai restaurants outside of […] the resort offered more extensive menus; that said, they happily produced a dish for me that wasn't on the menu. Wine prices are extortionate at more than twice the price of a good London Brasserie wine list, whereas wine in the restaurants outside of the resort was broadly in line with London Brasserie prices. It was too windy and the sea was far too rough to sail in the bay but the lagoon offered a realistic alternative; the boats were all well maintained and the sailing staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The pool area was excellent with plenty of loungers both around the pool and the beach, with plenty of shade or direct sunshine. Airport transports were smooth and reliable in a well appointed, modern 5 series BMW. The rooms were spacious, stylish, and very comfortable, with everything you might need and the fitness centre was well equipped with top quality equipment. If you are looking for a stylish, well appointed resort holiday, you won't be disappointed with the Dusit Thani. Devamı

This hotel locates on the Laguna beach, which is very quiet and clean. During my stay, maybe it is not busy season, there are quite few people, so if you are looking for a place to simply rest, this would be an ideal place. One of 5 hotels situated on the Laguna Beach resort and is next door to the Laguna Beach hotel. It is a very nice hotel but I would put more as a 4 star than the 5 stated. Staff very friendly make you welcome and it does have lovely grounds. The swimming pool is a little unimaginative but is adequate. Food and drink is expensive in Laguna comparative […] to other areas of Thailand and the Dusit is no exception. I would say eating out is somewhat similar to eating in the UK. Cheaper meals can be found in the small town on the outskirts of Laguna but not a huge saving. You need to take the free shuttle to the edge of the resort and then walk a short distance into the town. Alternatively most restaurants will send a car to pick you up and drop you back again. Thats ok if you know where you want to eat but not if you want to browse. Try Tatonka, a small restaurant with great food, ToTo and Italian or Chaba which serves Thai and international dishes. The Lotus restaurant up the beach is also a good punt as is Tom Yam goons which is on the beach outside the Laguna Beach Hotel. The Dusit has several restaurants we ate in the Tratoria which is an Italian and we had our best meal all holiday there but is a little expensive for holidaying in Thailand, I guess not if judged by UK standards. The Ruen Thai is their Thai offering and overlooks one of the lagoons very nice but our experience was that the staff were not as attentive. Laguna is a lovely area but be prepared to be a little cut off. There is the free boat shuttle around the resort lagoons and a free bus shuttle. A short walk from the hotel is the 'Canal Centre' which has a few boutique shops, a bakery/coffee shop and a mini market but don't expect to stay out late it all shuts at 9:00pm in fact not much is happening after 9pm in the hotel either and is lacking entertainment or reasonable bar prices two G&T's 15 quid ! Yes certainly recommend I dont think you will be disappointed as long as you can keep the kids entert Devamı

We have recently returned from our 14th annual visit to this resort. Obviously you have to love a place to go so many times. And we do. On this recent visit our booking was for a Lagoon View room. The room was attractive and well equipped. The bed was comfortable. The grounds were a credit to the gardening staff and to the daily maintenance team. Employees […] in other departments who work at the resort from reception to restaurants to pool boys to room maids were most friendly and attentive to our needs. We can't speak too highly of their attitude and their eager desire to please. The restaurants were excellent with Ruen Thai and La Trattoria both enjoying class reputations in Phuket and beyond. Laguna Cafe catered for western tastes. The Horizon lounge offered drinks with a view out to sea while you watched the sunset. Magic! We found the quality of food to be excellent and reasonable in price. The resort is a bit remote from major shopping centres. You can take a taxi to Patong (if that town gives you a buzz) or to Phuket Town with great shopping at Robinsons or at the other end of the spectrum to the week-end markets. Everyone should try the week-end markets for an experience! Without hesitation we recommend Dusit Thani Laguna in Phuket for a holiday in paradise. Devamı

After reading all the positive reviews all over the web about Dusit, we decided to book it. That, and the fact the Expedia rate was so good. The Dusit was the definition of full-service. We booked their shuttle from the airport (because there are a lot of taxi scams there) and it was the nicest shuttle ever, with leather seats and curtains on the windows. […] We also found out that you can book the hotel shuttle to Phuket City or Patong Beach for the same price as a cab (IF they don't scam you), so you can ride in style and safety. Whatever you need, just ask one of the many front desk people and they will help you. There's even a free shuttle and free boat around the Laguna area. The included buffet breakfast was fantastic with fresh tropical fruit (safe to eat) and international dishes. The room itself was clean and nicely appointed, very comfortable. We had a marvellous time at the Dusit Thani Laguna. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, made all the arrangements for extra tours for us and met any requests we had, giving us a hassle-free stay. The staff in Dusit Thani Laguna Phuket had been very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed my stay there with my 2 kids. The room is clean and comfortable except that the room temp. is very cold even when we tried to adjust it to the lowest fan mode.
