The standard of the rooms and attentive service are excellent. The Ambleside Salutation should have 4 stars. It's even got a health club and pool.

fantastic hotel, excellent facilities and perfect for relaxing after a good days walk. Breakfast food was tip-top, fast service and fills a gap or two if you attempt the double-grill.... on the down side, only two issues i can remember, firstly, the hotel parking is only suitable for mini's, even that is subject if you can obtain a space as reversing […] nearly all the way out seemed the only option. Secondly, we were on the top floor of a lodge at the back of the hotel which had an apex roof for which underneath the lower parts of the apex had the seating area where we were prone to banging heads on the beams. The surrounding area of Ambleside was kept clean and presentable and look forward to returning soon. Devamı

i loved this hotel from the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom, to the amazing breakfast to the on site spa to the helpful staff to the bargain price. This hotel was great and i can not wait to stay again.

An excellent three day break, helped by fab (for Feb) weather. Nice hotel though the room was very small. Staff were excellent. Evening meal wasn't great but the breakfast was. Would stay again.

On the plus points: The staff were very helpful and cheerful, The food was very good and plentiful, with a large selection. The rooms were very clean and well stocked. The spa facilities were good. Lovely hotel with excellent ammenities. Public areas of the hotel are really nicely done with lots of sitting areas, the swimming pool is a good size with good facilities including an outside hot tub. Good location, we stopped here before and the service was not as good at breakfast very rushed. Also the hotel needed a bit of maintenance i.e. painting etc. Pool and hot tub very nice

This is a really nice hotel. They are too modest about the great leisure facilities, and should make more of it. the Canadian hot tub just outside was amazing with the rain lashing down and the river rapids flashing by only metres away.

We were only staying for one night, but the location, staff, cleanliness and general feeling about the place were all excellent. We would also recommend oxley's the spa place next door.

Overall the hotel was very good, only slightly let down by the resaurant. I was one of a party of 6 and the evening meal was a bit of a mixed bag. The choice of either potatoes or salad was somewhat strange - fewer potatoes & some veg would have made for a more balanced meal. We spent 4 nights in Best Western Ambleside. Some of the staff seemed disinterested in their work. The room was small for a 4 night stay & the wardrobe not easily accessible. The shower screen made using the bath taps an impossible task. Apparently the beds are being replaced which is well overdue. The spa facilities made the stay more enjoyable. Their advertising says 'Breakfast is our business' - this is not just a strapline, it's true. Great spread of fruits, juices, cheeses, cold fish, meats, porridge, cereals. Bread counter with bagels, toast, etc. Full English is great, but if you're intending to eat nothing else for a week then you can go for the double English! Hotel staff very friendly, […] caring and polite. Hotel is well decorated, comfortable, and could not be located any closer to town with a wide choice of restaurants cafes etc. We tried the hotel Bistro one night when we were running late - good menu, food very nice. If you're eating out try Dodds for pizzas etc. but you can't book ahead, alternatively, if you like Thai then Jintana very good indeed - both literally yards from the front door. Devamı

Staff on arrival very welcoming and helpful, we were shown where to park the car when the car park in front of the hotel appeared to be full. Delighted to find our room had a balcony overlooking the town. We dined in the formal restuarant and the food was very good but later saw the Bistro menu which also appealed. 3 star hotel with 5 star gym, pool and spa. Even teens love the outdoor jacuzzi. Breakfast is fantastic. Lots of nice restaurants in Ambleside. Nearby we did waterskiing, great fun even for us novices. Also 30 minutes away go-ape tree top climb great fun. Returned for relax in gym and spa. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in the centre of Ambleside and very convenient. Great welcome and the room was clean and comfortable. What was surprising was the quality of the food - both at breakfast and in the bistro in the evening. A great experience overall and one I shall use again.

The whole stay was perfect. The breakfast is the best I have ever known in a hotel chain in UK. There was a plentiful choice of cooked meats and fish as well as a fine selction of breads and fruit. The homemade marmalade was lovely. Service in the bar and restaurant was totally as it should be. The food was excellent except for an over microwaved bread […] roll and an overcooked steak - both were cheerfully exchanged by polite, efficient and helpful waiters. The spa and pool were excellent although the steam room was too cold to use. The outdoor hot tub was a very welcome and unusual feature! On site parking was convenient. The hotel is nice and well located, but aware that parking is nightmare. If you get there after 5pm you are unliklely to able to partk in the hotel carpark. The breakfast is very good and the staff were all helpful and friendly.

Position great, very central to shops& restaurants heating at night a bit hot, you can open the windows, that is what we did. The standard double bed was less than we are used too ,but been so tired from the walking it wasn't a problem., the mattress was bit ifffy Ambleside is a marvelous place to visit & stay when in Cumbria, many fine dry stone wall […] buildings through out the town. Our stay was fabulous; it was just what was needed. The accomodation was superb and we made full use of the balcony. The staff were polite and professional and the evening meal we had in the hotel was reasonably priced and well presented. The wholw stay was a pleasure and we shall deffinately return.

Good hotel, with great spa facilities, hot tub outside is a bonus and swimming pool is a good size. Sauna fab too. We wanted to book a massage treatment but they were fully booked so make sure you ring in advance to book. We stayed for two nights in Wansfell Lodge at the rear of the main hotel, well worth the extra few pounds for the view overlooking the river complete with balcony and seating area. The room was of superb quality, beautifully clean and finished to a high standard, the bathroom was one of the cleanest I've encountered. Breakfast was of a high standard […] and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and spa area were immaculate with the added bonus of a hot tub outside, which we made a frantic dash to in the February weather, but was worth it. The location of this hotel is fantastic, we ditched the car at check in and didnt need to get back in it until we were (reluctantly) leaving. I booked this hotel on a personal recommendation for a romantic getaway/walking weekend. This is definately a place to book, great location in the centre of Ambleside with easy access to walking routes. Hotel Sautation Ambleside. In centre of town. Convenient for all amenities. Very good breakfast. Helpful staff. Good fires in lounges on cold wet days. Room adequate if a little small and no view. Unfortunate for the Lake District. Clean and recently refurbished. We will stay again next year.

Wonderful location in the heart of the town. The room was very nice, however, the bathroom was exceptionally small. The food in the hotel was very good and the lounge areas were comfortable with plenty of seating area.

The hotel is right in the centre of Ambleside, excellent location for visitors and walkers, you park your car for free at the hotel and wont need it again :-). We went for my birthday and although the hotel couldn't offer me a complimentary upgrade due to nearly being fully booked, they offered me a half price upgrade to their newly built Woodlands […] Suit which is a stand alone club room, like a little apartment, with large TV and sofas, separate bedroom with additional TV and DAB/IPOD audio unit and a wetroom bathroom with underfloor heating and spa bath - it was really lovely and very comfortable with its own parking space underneath. The main hotel is a little old fashioned and charming and clean and warm and the staff were so, so friendly, finding fell walks for us to do and they even sent me a birthday card on the day :-) The breakfasts are delicious, waiter service for the main cooked breakfast and helf yourself to lovely hot porridge, continental meats, breads etc and fruits, yougurts, cakes, anything you could ever want for breakfast really. There's also a lovely pool, steamroom, sauna and outdoor spa tub (great) and high tech gym. There's a beauty spa upstairs for treatments too. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely will be returning |:-) Devamı

The location of this hotel is excellent. It is in the heart of Ambleside, a busy town in the lake district. There were lots of walks, pubs and restaurants in easy walking distance. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was lovely. The staff are very helpful. We stayed in the Wansfell Lodge at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet and modern. […] Parking at the hotel is limited and spaces are small. We also availed of the spa onsite and again the staff were lovely and the treatments were very relaxing. I would stay here again if I were visiting the Lake District. Devamı

Excellent hotel, excellent central location. Gym and pool facilities brill especailly the steam room with scented shower. Only fault was with the meal i had in the bar which was Minted Lamb and potatoes with no veg. Couldn't believe it, north of england and i got meat with no veg. I wouldn't however cut my nose off to spite my face and ill be back in […] the same hotel next time i go walking in the lakes as its the best one ive stayed in. ill just buy my evening meal elsewhere. lol Devamı

This is our second visit to this hotel and it was excellent again. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are great. We especially love the pool and hot tub after a long walk in the hills. The food is really good and great value as well. We will definitely be back.
