Location is great. Only criticism would be that the rooms be refurnished with newer, more comfortable furniture. A little expensive for the comfort and furnishings provided, but location, location, location is everything.

The hotel is very conveniently located in Coronado; it's right across from the Hotel Del too. The rooms are nice, bathrooms decent, and we found our closet HUGE, which was a nice surprise! Very helpful staff, and the only thing that was "off" was that our room had a weird smell in it... but not so bad that we couldn't stay in it. Excellent value for […] money. Devamı

Across the street from The famous Hotel Del and just a stroll to the beach. Loved the atmosphere and restaurants near the hotel. Rooms are quaint

Fantastic location with pleasant staff. Rooms were a little spartan, but beautiful courtyard was nice. Best part for us was full kitchen and gas grill access - felt a bit more like home. We would absolutely stay here again.

Spent two nights at this quaint, intimate hotel right across the street from the Del. flowers and spanish decor outline the two outdoor courtyards. Reminded us of a hotel in Segovia, Spain. Front desk very helpful and the location was excellent. Lively restaurants located adjacent to hotel.

I would highly recommend El Cordova to anyone in the San Diego/Coronado Island area. It is in a fantastic location, the service was great, and the room was unbelievable. Dirty hotel with horrible customer service; spend your money at a nicer place! Even the great location could not make up for the lack of customer service and dirty, dingy hotel room. Horrible employees can't even be bothered to greet guests when they arrive. Loud, noisy rooms sit above restaurant and shops so you will hear downstairs activity late at […] night. The El Cordova was the perfect hybrid of affordability and luxury. The hotel itself was more than enough for me. The staff was super friendly, and the location was second to none. On a three day vacation we didn't have to move the car once. There is so much to do on that side of the island. My only complaints. You do pay 8 dollars a day to park. This hotel is located right across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado and the beach. It's within walking distance of every type of restaurant the island has to offer. The room was relatively comfortable, but it is an older hotel, so the floor was squeeky. Also, our bedroom faced onto the alley and was noisy during the day (made it hard to take […] our vacation naps). However, if you turned on the heater/AC unit, it drowned out most of the noise. Parking was a little disappointing. You had the choice of feeding the parking meters (if you could find one) the entire time, trying to find a free parking spot in the nearby neighborhood or paying to park in the underground garage located across the street from the hotel. We chose the garage, but didn't like how far away it was from the actual hotel. We had a 1 bedroom suite and it was a good choice. We had our wedding on the beach in the area and the room was a perfect location. The old spanish style tiling in the bathroom was quaint and there was tons of closet space and the pillows were comfy too! It isn't the most luxurious place but the staff was super friendly and were so helpful to us!

Friendly, warm people here. Rooms were cozy, bed was comfy. Terrific location for my meeting at the Del Coronado.

We stayed over the Christmas holidays in a 1 bedroom unit. Great hotel, quiet, comfortable bed, and in a good location a block from the beach. Would have liked a kettle and a few other items (like a salad bowl) in our kitchenette, but we managed to prepare a few light meals and breakfast, and found it very useful to have the kitchenette. Stayed at this hotel in december 2011 for 8 nights. It is a nice building, pool in the back yard. Rooms are not very modern, aircon made noise like a truck. But bathroom clean and nice, there was a little kitchen as part of the living room in the slightly more expensive rooms. The cleaning was very good. There is no breakfast. There is a good wifi internet […] for free which is a major plus. It is close to the beach and close to plenty of restaurants. It's a a ok hotel, and for the same price, I would stayed there again if in Coronado. Devamı

The hotels covers the basics. The beds were comfy. Carpet was clean though it had a few stains here and there. Kitchen was clean and bathroom had beautiful stone mosaics. The pool is smal land a bit chilly. The location is very convenient (2 min drive to beach) and there were various nearby restaurants which was fabulous. Great location! Nothing fancy but worked out fine for us.

El C merits at least 2 more stars! We stayed at the Del last time and the El Cordoba compares very well. Had a 2 room suite - 2 large flat screen TVs,kitchenette off the courtyard. It rained heavily one day but Miguel's was off the patio and the Brigantine was next door. There even was a Brueggers Bagel (as good as the one in Bushnell's Basin, N.Y. […] !). Devamı

I have stayed at other hotels in the Coronado area but this was our first stay at El Cordova. The staff was friendly and the location is great. Room was standard - clean but no frills. The only issue we had was our room lock being updated while we were out so we had to go to front desk to get new room key. They had told us in advance that this may happen. […] Would stay here again! Great hotel for the money. Good value in a beautiful part of this country. Hotel is older and quaint but very clean and well managed.

My family and I just returned from a stay at the El Cordova and it was exactly as we had hoped and more. We'd read the reviews saying that it was old, run-down, loud, and over-priced and our hunch was that the people who wrote those reviews live in the suburbs and expect everything quiet, new, beige, and with a Chilis around the corner. If you want […] that, then don't stay at the El Cordova. I'm sure you can find a Holiday Inn Express somewhere in San Diego. But if you love a perfect location, across the street from the beach, a third the price of the Del, surrounded by sidewalk cafes, surf shops and restaurants that will leave you convinced you're on vacation in Playa Del Carmen or somewhere in Europe, then you're going to LOVE the El Cordova. After visiting our rooms and touring the hotel, my wife and I just smiled at each other. We'd spent the night before in a $400 a night resort (walking distance from nowhere) and we both knew that this was much more our style. The energy of the place is irresistible. Miguel's restaurant in the courtyard of the hotel does get loud and if you have kids or plan to go to bed before 10, I'd suggest requesting a room on the east wall of the hotel. We have two small children and did exactly that. The noise was never an issue. The service was top notch, the location on Coronado Island can't be beat, and our family can't wait to go back!! Devamı

Great hotel - clean and authentic, pleasant and helpful service, excellent location!

Great location within walking distance to the park, restaurants, beach, and tour trolley. One bedroom suite was plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. Nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave. We did not use the oven or stove. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. We stayed here on our honeymoon and enjoyed our stay so much. The room was quaint and had tons of character from its styling to its location. The closet was HUGE! The location is perfect - surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars and only a 10 minute walk to the beach...VERY convenient! I found the hotel to be quiet, charming, and clean. It is within walking distance to the beach, countless restaurants, and theaters. It has an Old World, European feel. The price was also very good.

perfect location one block from beach. access to shops, restaurants and of course beach. first room was right next to mexican restaurant and very noisy. also a bit shabbier than i expected so have to admit i was disappointed. window facing the restaurant was broken and would not close which ended up benefiting me. I told the front desk and they moved […] us to another room on the other side of complex; room was nicer as well so all was good. no bell service so i had to move all our stuff up and down myself bt that was ok. I was glad they took care of the problem right away and with a smile. miguel's the mexican restaurant is good and we really enjoyed our stay. our suite was large and it was nice to have the small kitchen. again, perfect beach location. we would go again and request a room away from restaurant. The quaint old style Spanish architecture and interesting site layout with lush greenery were very enjoyable.Although the restaurant close to my room was noisy it always shut down by 11 pm.The bed was comfortable. 4 restaurants were handy in the complex. It was close to the Landmark Center for conference attendance. I enjoyed my stay.

My husband and I went to Coronado for a few days early August. We enjoyed ourselves. El Cordova is a older hotel but was quaint and great. The hotel is right across the street from the Coronado Del Hotel and walking distance to the beach. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, It had a small kitchenette, one bedroom seperate from livingroom area. The Miguel […] mexican resturant was 10 steps outside our front door. It was busy but not loud. The resturant closes by 10pm so it didnt bother us at all. Shops and resturants all within walking distance. Hotel is directly across the street from famed Hotel Del Coronado and only a block from the beach. Access to the beach was only a 10 minute walk with two little ones and a baby, and the beach was clean and not crowded during this high season. Staff were super friendly and very accommodating to our needs, especially Maria and Raphael. The hotel is set […] in a hacienda-like arrangement with restaurants and small shops interspersed with the rooms. The rooms are either ground floor or on the second floor. Each of the rooms we were given had a separate "living room" with pull out sofa and a kitchenette, and a separate bedroom. Bathrooms were small, but well maintained with handpainted tiles and ceramics. The outside of the rooms were well maintained with bouganvillea growing, ceramic tile accents and awnings along most first floor windows. I would have given the place full stars had it not been that the furniture in some of the rooms were threadbare and in need of upgrading, and the first pull out sofa had food crumbs in the sheets. That being said, all rooms had 2 flat screen tvs; pots, dishes and silverware with a microwave and dorm fridge; water pressure in the shower was good, and the beds were comfortable. We had to move twice during our stay due to our family needs. The first room we had was on the second floor with a steep flight of stairs (no elevators here as there are no interior common hallways)-- too steep for our 5 and 3 year old to climb confidently, and the pull out sofa was rather worn with suspicious crumbs and bits in it. We requested and immediately received an alternate room on the first floor, however this accommodation was equipped for handicapped needs and lacked a tub and counterspace. there were no other first floor suites available at the time since we checked in late. The place was clean, however. We stayed there the night and requested, and received, a different first floor suite the next day. The staff were extremely accommodating-- they called Devamı

The staff is excellent and should be proud of their work ethic. They were awesome. The major "negative" though is that the place is inherently loud and rowdy. It's basically on the premises of a bar/restaurant and anyone can walk around and the party goes on until midnight everynight. Any late returnees can EASILY be heard walking up the steps or entering […] their room. An older unit with toilet problems, but a comfortable bed. Old fashioned "actual brass key" door entry and no place to keep your valuable stuff (no safe in the room). Nice TV. Again great staff, but a really LOUD environment. Devamı

The hotel was in a great location. The only problem I encountered was a plumbing issue. The tub filled with water while showering and would not drain.

The room was very nice and in an excellent location that was walking distance from the beach. Minor maintenance issue with the shower head which only put out a trickle of water. .

Our "suite" was a quaint apartment -- very comfortable and ONE BLOCK away from the beach. Super value!

My husband and I selected this hotel for a romantic get away. We booked a deluxe king and got a room that likely used to be a closet. The shower was awkward and the room had zero charm. Also, the room looked out over the roof of another building. The property has a fabulous location. I found the staff to be rude and less than helpful. Could not beat the location, a really sweet hotel. Good mexican food at the restaurant in courtyard, but expect to hear its noise in your room-luckily they don't stay open too late.

We stayed at El Cordova for 3 nights and thought the location of the hotel was fantastic. Within walking distance of numerous great restaurants, the beach and great neighborhoods. The main reason we stayed at this hotel is the location! It is walking distance to the beach, the del is across the street, the hotel has great restaurants and Coronado is beautiful! The rooms were descent, they could use an upgrade though. The only negative thing I would say is the mexican restaurant in the courtyard is very loud, so I would recommend […] a room away from it or on the street side (which traffic is a liitle loud too). Had a great time at El Cordova. The housekeepers where great the entire staff was very helpful in directions. My daughter forgot her lap tap and the one of the housekeepers found the lap top. Thank you very much. Kodos to her as for the Manager he sent the lapt top via Fed Ex. Great job guys. I will highly recommend El Cortez to who ever visits Coronado. […] Plus cant beat the location. I just happen to find this Hotel from Hotels.com. Its was so nice.... clean, quite, big rooms & awsome showers. (big) The jacuzzi was nice and clean and there is a mexican resturaunt ajacent to the Hotel where you can socialize all night. I will definately go back again and again!

We stayed at the Del Cordova at the last minute for Mother's Day and I am so glad we did! The hotel is very quaint and has tons of character. It is a bit older but it is still kept nice. We stayed in a Suite and it fit a family of four perfectly- the pull out sofa was very comfortable according to the kids who are used to staying in 5 star hotels. It […] was located in the middle of all kinds of restaurants and shops and the Del Coronado. The courtyard of the hotel has a nice sitting area and gas grills so you can bbq if you want. There was a guy that grilled for his family and we just sat outside with some wine and snacks under twinkling lights. It was really cool! There was a wedding so the wedding party came through, fun! It was a great night sleep, not loud or crazy, just a really fun place.... Will definately stay there again! Devamı

This is a fantastic, and very quaint hotel. It's European style is much different from your typical. The rooms were rustic, but very clean, and comfortable. Miguel's restaurant in the middle of the hotel courtyard is a very cool touch, and makes for a fun and social atmosphere when outside your room. The parking is across the street in a parking structure […] which is fine, but my only complaint would be that you have a parking "pass" to come and go during the stay. Considering where this hotel is, it was a pretty decent value. My biggest complaint is that the bathroom was too small. If they were to take some space from the closet (it was at least 40 square feet), and expand the bathroom, the room would be almost perfect. I say almost because the windows let in a lot of road noise.

El Cordova was close to places to eat and nice shops. The room was comfortable and clean. Would stay there again.
