The Durant was comfortable, though it's an old building with small rooms and painfully slow elevators. The Keurig coffeemaker in the room was a nice touch. The colelge-themed rooms and decor are cute, maybe overdone. Still a great place for proximity to the Berkeley campus and the price isn't bad. we felt like long awaited friends who on arrival are warmly greeted. helpful cordial staff

The service, restaurant and room were all great! The only thing I didn't like is that it was very hot in the room even though it was winter...I would stay again though!!

The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are nice and clean. Great deal. Just know that walls are very thin and you can hear your neighbor next door. Also there was hair in my bath tub and towels were not clean. So house keeping should do a better job. Other than that great location, and good price.

Excellent location and room on the executive floor was large and very comfortable. Perfect location near UC campus and staff very pleasant. Only negative was the room service tray we used one night was left outside our room and was still there 36 hours later with dirty dishes, etc. Would definitely stay here again.

Room was very small. No coffee available to go with the coffee maker. Bathroom was very tiny, tub did not drain well, door did not close well. Little things added up. It's an old hotel despite renovation . It is close to UC campus. Self parking was very limited also.

The hotel was nice, unique, and interesting. the Decor in the room was nice. However the bed was a bit hard, and the only method for cooling the room was running the ceiling fan with the window open. The street outside is very noisy late into the night and room was hot despite the outside temp being rather cool in winter. Nice place but not worth the […] price. Devamı

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel this year, and I will continue to do so when I travel to the San Francisco area. Everything is comfortable,the staff is relaxed yet attentive, the food is excellent, the rooms on the back side of the hotel nearly sound-proof. A great place to stay!

This is a hotel in an old building. Here, old doesn't mean "classic" or "historic"; it just means old. Our room was hot, uncontrollably hot on a chilly day/night in late December. We slept with the windows open (the screen on one had a large, flappy hole). We also used a floor fan and a ceiling fan (over the bed) during our stay. We chose the "quiet […] side" of the building, which was far from quiet during the day (or at 6 AM). The room decor can be described as "1970s college dormitory." This might appeal to some guests -- we were expecting better. BTW, the men's room on the first floor has a Stanford target in the urinal. If not for that, I would given the Durant a lower rating. We made a last minute trip to Berkeley to visit friends for New Years and needed a hotel. We used hotel.com to make our last minute arrangements and stumbled upon Hotel Durant. It was a great find. The room was large, the staff helpful, the downstairs bar and restaurant convenient, and the bedding super comfortable. I stayed at the Hotel Durant for 2 full weeks recently and found it to be very comfortable, well-equipped for studying, and with excellent service all around. There is great food in the area and it is 5 minutes from the Berkeley campus. I highly recommend it!

great location/access to bus & bart routes. we spent week in area w/o car. nice. rooms are smallish, but stylish, as expected from a Joie de vivre hotel. people very nice, pleasant & helpful all week.

Wouldn't even call one of their own hotels in the chain to check details - I expected better.

my son is at the law school so this hotel couldn't be better situated, definitely a good value - while built in 1923, it is comfortable, clean, safe & convenient with a friendly responsive staff & a full service reasonable restaurant / saloon. charming hotel, nicely renovated, and excellent service

My fiance and I stayed at this hotel for two nights and liked the hotel a lot. We had a great view from our 6th floor room. The hotel itself was very nice, no air conditioning though which was inconvenient. Our room was dorm themed which was really cute the shower was really small though. The BAD part was Berkeley! We were there during the Christmas holiday - staff was very courteous and helpful. Room, hallways, lobby were clean and neat each day when we returned. Very quiet. Appreciated availability of hotel parking. Within walking distance and easy driving distance of good food. You'll appreciate the hotel durant. Our room, very literally, was more than 85 degrees. There was no thermostat in the room whatsoever. Something tells me this is a common occurence in the rooms, since there was both an overhead fan and a smaller desktop fan. We had to open the window (in the middle of winter) to try to attempt to cool down the room. Which […] brings me to the second complaint, which is just that the rooms are incredibly tiny. I lived in Japan, I can appreciate a smaller space. But this room, it is not possible to walk around the bed and have your luggage in there. With two people, and two luggage, it was completely impossible to walk around. And then that's the third complaint, which was that the beds are also very small. My husband and myself are both small people (5'6 or less) and our feet hung off the edge of the bed. Otherwise, the hotel was fine. It's eclectic and definitely had a Berkeley feel. That being said, given these complaints, there is no way I would recommend it to a friend or anyone else. If you are looking for a relaxing room or are with another person, stay elsewhere. Devamı

Due to a family emergency, I had to find a hotel that was close to the Alta Bates Rehab facility (brother had a stroke) and the Hotel Durant was perfect in price, location and comfort. The location was only about 1 mile from the rehab facility and from downtown Berkeley. I found my way around with no problems and the staff at the hotel was wonderful. […] The room was perfect. was a great choice. We were just across from the University campus, a quick walk to the BART that took us to our many destinations while sightseeing, and within easy walking distance of the Gourmet Ghetto! The staff is welcoming and helpful and the hotel's quirkiness adds to the atmosphere of the location. Great choice.

Hotel was perfectly nice. Room on the small side and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, but overall and clean and nice room for an older hotel. Hotel bar good, proximity to Berkeley good. Too bad Berkeley isn't a better town but you can't blame the hotel for that.

The room was small, but equipped with a convenient desk, a mini bar, and a refrigerator. That was good for both working and relaxing. You may also find pictures on the wall interesting. The location is very close to UC Berkeley and Telegraph avenue, where you can enjoy a variety of meal.

This is a very convenient and nice hotel and we have stayed here a number of times. It is perfect for visiting UCB. This time the room was very small and cramped for 2 people.

I stayed here for one night (check in Saturday, check out Sunday). Staff was friendly. The elevators were super slow. Thankfully, I didn't have much baggage, so I walked up to the third floor. The room itself was comfortable. Nice bed, large TV, free WiFi. Bathroom had everything you'd expect. The one problem was that housekeeping didn't remove the […] shoes and socks that a previous guest left in the closet. I told the front desk, but the shoes were still there after I got back from dinner. Overall, decent hotel, perhaps a bit overpriced. I'd recommend it, but keep an eye out for stray clothes, Devamı

Hotel is right in the middle of the university area, with tons of student eateries around. We really appreciated the 'executive' room that came with free breakfast and cocktail hour. This is a great little hotel for visiting Berzerkeley.

This classic old Berkeley hotel is completely charming! Lots of dark wood fills a great lobby, along with a funky lending library. Live Irish music wafts in from the bar. Enjoy a delicious, sunlit breakfast in Henry's Restaurant. Guest rooms are small but include comfy terry robes. The concierge is friendly and helpful. The hotel was nice, felt old which it probably is. Neighborhood is kind of grungy, but that is Berkeley for you. Room was small and dark, but clean. Bed was comfortable. No fridge in room. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but if you are visiting CAL or your kid attends there, I would imagine it is an ideal location.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Durant in Berkeley, California and would definitely consider staying there again if traveling to that part of the state. The staff was fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. The hotel exterior and lounge are quite comfortable and their use of the "student/college" theme was pretty fun. Plus, the pub, located on the ground […] level, was a nice place to grab a drink and food. The room and bathroom were both pretty small (clean, but small). We had to put our suitcases under the window which left little room on that side of the bed. The location to Cal's campus and public transportation was super convenient. Just know when you are staying in Berkeley, you need to be ready for Berkeley. It is definitely it's own town and may not be for everyone. We opted to grab a cab and head slightly south to the Rockridge neighborhood which was fantastic. Lovely eateries and cafes that were a little more our style. Devamı
